She wears her bad reputation like a badge of honor. Unfortunately for her, that kind of trouble is this hockey star’s favorite play.
Life has been aimless for former ballerina Denise Stryker ever since an injury ended her career before it had a chance to take off. She’ll say she’s fine, but unanswered calls from family and avoidance of Kingswell's Golden Boy, Lucas Callahan, prove otherwise. She tries to pull away from the jock, yet she always ends up back in his orbit. Lucas grins at the greedy spark in her eyes, disguised as annoyance-stands too close because he likes proving a point.
Denise has always been good at putting up a front, but after one intoxicating night, she’s not sure if casual was ever an option.
Lucas Callahan has always had a knack for testing people’s patience. Reactions are what fuel him, from his role as class clown to his pursuit of Denise Stryker, his coach’s very own daughter. He's spent most of his life trying to prove he’s not just some meathead in a jersey.
Then he meets Denise.
She’s daring and confident. Sometimes even a little cruel. But he notices a crack in her armor. One similar to his own. Now he finds himself letting her call the shots. Denise says she wants nothing to do with him. Lucas begs to differ. With the season over and more time on his hands, he has one clear break through Denise’s stubborn walls.
Because Lucas has never been one to back away from a challenge - on or off the ice.
Hello, hello. I’m Auden Hunter. I’m a neurodivergent girlie whose life consists of going to work and coming home to write. I live in a way too small of a town in Utah with my sister who has to listen to me ramble about my stories. I like to think my specialty is a little bit of this and a little bit of that. I make no promises and accept no therapy bills.
I really enjoyed how this book jumped straight into the story from the beginning and then slowly showed the relationship growth between Denise and Lucas.
It’s a shorter, fast-paced read, which made it super easy to get through. Denise’s feelings and reactions made sense considering what happened in her past and how deeply it affected something she loved and dedicated herself to.
While I understood why Denise acted the way she did, I do think she could’ve handled Lucas a little better at times 🥲 He was patient, understanding, and gave her the space she needed to figure things out 🤍 Sometimes people really do need time to realise what they’re missing.
I also really liked Preston’s character 👀 He had that caring-but-grumpy energy, and now I desperately want him to get his own story with a sunshine love interest!
Overall, if you’re looking for a quick read with romance, emotion, and some spice 🌶️ this one is definitely worth picking up!
Tropes- college romance, hockey player himbo, found family, dislike (her side) to lovers, ex-ballerina, mean girl FMC, he falls first and HARDER, ONS, coach’s daughter

Looking for a quick and easy college hockey read then this is for you. This book was good and u had such a great time reading it and I did it in one sitting this was such a fun start to the series I can’t wait for more. Lucas and Denise are so cute and perfect for each other he just gets her and see her in a different light and she may be rough around the edges but she loves him
Denise is going through a lot and having an identity crisis and still struggling with her parents divorce and having to give up ballet. She’s blunt and speaks her mind but she’s so much more than the “mean girl” people see her as. I also loved her two best friends they are funny and just gets her and don’t wing her to change
Lucas and Denise are so incredible and their banter and chemistry is amazing I was hooked from the beginning with him lowkey stalking her lol. Plus the spice was spicing had me fanning myself cause they are so hot together especially with an camera iykyk
Lucas my hockey himbo oh how I love him so much he’s such a green flag and amazing. He loves his family and friends he’s just everything I love my lover boy. Everyone thinks Lucas is just a “dumb jock” but he worked hard to get where he is with already being signed to a team after college. Lucas is just such an green flag he’s just so much more than people think he is
I love these two so much and was eating this book up I didn’t even realize it was over I was like “give me moreee” lol. The found family trope is and will always be my favorite and in this book it was done so well with each group and I can’t wait to see how everything will come together and I am definitely rooting for Beth and Mathew!!
Thank You So Much for giving me this incredible arc !💐🖤
I received an ARC of this book and am leaving my honest, voluntary review
3.5 stars. This is a quick college hockey romance, with a rough around the edges former ballerina and a slightly misunderstood hockey player from her dad's hockey team. Lucas, our MMC, is a bit obsessed with Denise, our FMC, going as far as "running" into her wherever she goes. I'd call this character stalker lite... he tends to know where she'll be and just so happens to be there too, but he doesn't have the expected dangerous qualities that most stalkers have. He's a cinnamon roll who just can't seem to shake his need to be around her. Denise is a B, plain and simple. She's had her dreams ripped out from under her and as a result has decided to take that pain and disappointment out on everyone else, including and maybe especially Lucas. He doesn't seem to mind one bit.
I thought this book was an easy, fast read that kept me engaged, however not a ton of character development happened. The FMC and MMC had some good chemistry and the spicy scenes were entertaining. I'd say this is a good pallet cleanser book and if you are a fan of college hockey romance you'd enjoy this. It's also fun when there is the black cat FMC and gooey cinnamon roll MMC dynamic, which this book has in spades.
I want to thank Auden so much for sliding in my DMs to ask if I wanted to ARC this. Literally, it made me feel super special and I genuinely enjoyed Tell Me I'm Wrong.
It took me a while to read only because I fell into book club/ARC "Hell", but it was easy to pick up and understand what was happening which is good for a mood reader like me. Denise is a strong character and her struggle to let Lucas in while dealing with her shattered dreams broke my heart. I feel like I healed a small part of myself reading her journey. Sometimes you have to shift your goals in life.
I also read this during a time when I quit my teaching job and was miserable because I felt like a failure, but during the progression of the story I grew with Denise and now I'm so happy nannying (even though it's new). Lucas is a good match and I felt for him trying to prove to Denise that he would love her so well and it was a cute obsession that turned into her finally letting him in. I'm excited for the next book!

I really liked how this read got straight to the point from the beginning and then we see the relationship development between Denise and Lucas.
It's a shorter, fast paced read but I did enjoy it. The only reason Denise felt the way she did was because something that happened to her ruining something she loved, lived for.
I don't blame her for how she felt but she could've been better about how she was treating Lucas.
He was understanding though and gave her the time she needed, sometimes people just need space to realize what they are missing. I like that they figured this out and had a HEA. 🙂
I did like Preston's character, the caring grumpy one. I would like for him to get his own story with a sunshine character or something like that.
If you want something fast with spice, this is for you.
This book was short, but it had a lot of heart. Denise was such a messy character but the author did a great job writing her. And I just loved Lucas! He was certainly down bad for his girl even when she wasn't giving him the time of day. Overall it was a great read.
