I really liked both main characters in this book, but for me, something felt a little off about the execution of the story.

A nice light read, with a tried and true formula, but as I say the main characters here were very good.

However in saying that, occasionally, as I was reading, my mind wandered. It just did not feel like it flowed in a comfortable way.

The initial "tension" between Meg and Linc felt very forced and their reactions not in fitting with their actions. The stalker plot line that really went no where and fizzled out into nothing could have been left out. It added too much into a short number of pages and added to the overall feelign of it being a bit rushed at times

But, 2 charters I found intriguing and interesting, had me rooting for them, and I adored the epilogue at the end, and how Linc had changed and was such a family man now.

3 - "I'm not a man for complications." Stars.

Although The Bachelors Baby was an enjoyable addition to the Montana Born Bachelor Auction series, I would have to say that it is my least favorite so far.

”You’ve got a handful of screw yourself.”

As the title is pretty explanatory as to what occurs between Meg and Linc, I don’t think a massive run-down of the storyline is required in my review.

Firstly, this story had enough potential in it to not need the erroneous issues that Meg bought too the story in relation to her living in Chicago. One of the tropes loosely used in this novella has already appeared in the first book in the series, and didn’t really need to be used again.

”We only have tonight.”

I also struggled a little too warm to Meg initially, her whole way of dealing with certain issues was massively overplayed. There is needy, and then there is irrationally needy, I understand her reasons for being like she was I just felt it was a little OTT with it all.

This is still an enjoyable easy to read novella, and I have fallen in love with the town of Marietta, Montana a little bit more with each addition to the series. Unfortunately, The Bachelors Baby just didn’t quite measure up against its predecessors. I had a massive giggle at the use of the term ferocious muscle! I have never read of a guys todger being called that before.

Meg and Linc are instantly attracted to each other but get off on the wrong foot. Trying to make up for it, Meg bids on Linc at the Bachelor Auction in a desperate attempt to apologize and make amends after saying some things that have been haunting her conscience.

Linc has lived alone by choice. He is a bachelor through and through and is upfront about his commitment phobia. He fears getting attached to someone and losing them. Even though he feels strongly for Meg, he isn’t willing to put himself out there for her. They both decide that they should give in to their mutual attraction and just keep things casual since Meg is only in town temporarily and Linc isn’t looking for a relationship.

That all changes with an unexpected pregnancy. Suddenly Meg is uprooting her life in the city and moving back home to be closer to her family. Telling Linc about the baby is a must, hoping that he’d take the new well was wishful thinking.

To say Linc flipped over the baby news is an understatement. It’s been a long time since I’ve read about the H in a romance acting like such a jerk when he finds out his sex marathon with the h resulted in a baby. Linc says some really awful things and it totally crushes an already vulnerable Meg. I really felt for her and of course this brings out my vindictive side. I wanted groveling and begging and maybe even a well aimed karate chop to the neck for this guy. He was that horrid to her!

“Are you serious right now? You think I got you pregnant?”

“I know I’m pregnant, Linc. There’s no think about it.” She was really white, her freckles standing out like little brown dots.

“Well, it’s not mine,” he blurted, furious that this was happening. Panicking. “I wore condoms. They didn’t break. Were you poking holes in them when I wasn’t looking?” he demanded.

Are you kidding me? First he denies it , shames her and then hurls accusations like that, all while seeing how upset she was. He was awfully selfish and self centered about it all. Every time I remember this scene I get pissed all over again.

Meg has issues with abandonment and self worth. Never knowing her biological mother or the reason why she was given up for adoption has left scars on her heart. So I had a soft spot for her and wanted her to get her HEA. IMO she was too nice and allowed him back into her life too easily. I understand for the baby’s sake, why she did it but to fall back in love with him and risk getting hurt again so soon? I wanted her to hold out and be a bit stronger. I still found myself rooting for her because I wanted her to be happy and a family with Linc was her ultimate dream. Linc does redeem himself and you get into his head about why he acted like such a douche canoe. After his OTT outburst, he becomes caring and protective of Meg and is finally able let his walls down and love Meg like she deserves.

To be fair, immediately after his denial of the pregnancy, Linc realizes he made a mistake and acted like an ass with Meg. I guess you could say he was in shock and just blurted out all his fears and insecurities at Meg. I don’t think it excuses his behavior but at least he didn’t draw it out and make it more angsty for the h. He races after her to apologize and does everything he can to prove to Meg that he will be there for her and the baby, no matter what.

Memorable Moments:
I loved Meg's family. Her brother and nephew were great supporting characters but Lisa, her sister in law, she was amazing!

"I don't care what happens with you and Linc. You know you've made me the happiest woman in the world right now, don't you? Our babies are going to grow up together ." She clasped Meg in the fiercest hug ever.

After everything that Meg just went through, her friend's easy acceptance was so precious. I loved that moment.

Would I recommend?
This had a bit more of an emotional kick than I was expecting. I think I’d still recommend to those that don’t mind a bit of drama, a heavy dose of angst, and an H that learns the hard way, after some bumbling mistakes, that love and family is the ultimate prize. If you can get over his initial reactions to the baby news, this was actually a sweet romance. Both characters have been hurt in the past and they have go through some emotional growth to get their HEA.

After reading the title and the blur of this book I thought to myself: "This is going to be a totally cliché book." And it was...it totally was but I loved it nonetheless :D

description

The action was pretty predictable. Boy meats girl (Ok...more like gorgeous hunk :P), instant attraction, girl buys boy at a fundraiser bachelor auction, one night of hot passion, girl leaves and after a few weeks PUFF!!! Hello baby! (as in a little human being) :D

description

Despite the fact that is was very predictable once I stared reading it I couldn't stop (thank God it's a novella because I probably wouldn't have slept last night at all :P). That happened probably because the writing was good, the characters where easy to relate too and there was just the right amount of suspense.

I gave it only 4 stars because it wasn't shocking or life altering but it was a pleasant read that I truly enjoyed.

So if you're up for a quick, easy and enjoyable read than this is you're book. :D

The Bachelor's Baby is the third in a six part novella series from Tule Publishing Montana Born Bachelor Auction.

This is Meg Canon and Linc Brady's story.

The title is self explanatory what the story is about. After the auction Meg and Linc have a one night stand which is full of passion. The morning after Meg goes back to her life in Chicago until one day she discovers she is pregnant so she quits Chicago and comes home to Marietta to raise her baby with or without Linc. How will Linc take the news that he is going to a father? What is going to happen between them?

I really enjoyed The Bachelor's Baby as I love this kind of story and I found this to be different to the first two books in this series.

Looking forward to reading the rest of the Montana Born Bachelor Auction series.

Another wonderful addition to the series. After this book, I am seriously contemplating moving to Marietta, Montana now. I loved how everything tied together. Loved Linc and Meg together. I'm not usually crazy about the unexpected baby trope but Dani Collins made it work.

I'm definitely looking forward to more from this series or anything Marietta related for that matter. :)

Linc Brady thought the bidding for the Montana bachelor was a joke. He never wanted to be auctioned, he didn’t do this kind of thing. But Meg Canon was persistent, and boy was she lucky enough to win him on the bidding. It was supposed to be just one night with Meg. One night of lust and need.

And after that fateful evening, they both agreed that they wouldn’t do relationships. Meg went back to Chicago to live her life as a news anchor. Things turned sour when she learned that her jailed stalker posted bail, and on the same day, she discovered that she was pregnant. With Linc. She decided to go back to Montana, tell Linc about their situation and raise her kid. Unfortunately, Linc didn’t want anything to do with the baby. Oh Poor Meg.

I think I’ve said too much already, forgive me. But I wasn’t readily convinced about Linc and Meg’s chemistry. It was kind of a bit rush to me, Linc and his changing moods, Meg and her emotional outbursts. I can understand Meg’s condition though, and I felt her pain and apprehensions about raising a kid without a father, when she herself didn’t have the luxury of having a mother the moment she was born. Linc, well, he’s unlike the other bachelors I read, he was a little too intimidating for my taste.

The bed scenes, however, were hot hot hot! And I liked that the story was fast-paced too. Wasn’t too boring and didn’t dwell too much on one subject alone. A lovely one-night read!

An Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this book was received free via Netgalley for an honest review.

This is definitely one of the more predictable reads in this series. Adopted woman with identity issues. Check. Man who lost parent early and has abandonment issues. Check. Unplanned pregnancy and woman feels betrayed when man is shocked and pissed. Check.

There is a shocking lack of depth, not only in the secondary characters, but also in the main characters. They feel more like types than real people with emotions and issues. Part of the reason for that is that neither Linc nor Meg take any time at all in getting over their respective issues. After a lifetime of feeling inadequate, lost, and abandoned, Meg declares herself over it and it's done. Hey, if it were that easy she could have done that years ago and saved herself a lot of grief. For his part, Linc is equally able to just put it all behind him.

While Linc's backstory is more fully explored and Meg's more immediate backstory is visible, neither seem grounded in any way. They sort of float out in Marietta space with no real connections. Those connections tend to link all the Montana Born stories well, even with casual name dropping. Meg and Linc felt like they were in a vacuum.

This one was definitely disappointing.

With a likeable couple and a lovely, if not somewhat predictable storyline, The Bachelor's Baby is another good addition the Montana Born Bachelor Auction series. A series that can be read in any order, or as standalones.

Linc and Meg aren't my favourite couple in the series, but Linc could well be my favourite man. He and Meg are good together with understandable vulnerabilities, and whereas she openly struggles somewhat which manifests itself in a form of need, he has buried his. He's bossy, protective and yes, he has a slightly alpha façade, but underneath is a man with a huge heart.

"We only have tonight."

Going on the title, it isn't really going to take much of a brain workout to guess where the storyline heads, and whilst it doesn't hold any huge surprises, the story flows well and I read in one sitting. If a fairly short, easy read, sexy and heartwarming read is what you're after, then The Bachelor's Baby ticks those boxes.

3.5 stars.

I received this book as an ARC from Net Galley for my honest review!

This is the first book that I have read in this series and my first by Dani Collins. I finished this book very fast because I had to know what was going to happen.

I loved Meg, she was funny and although she had a ruff past she did not walk around like her world was ending; she just kept trying to push through all of the craziness surrounding her. The funniest scene to me is when she explains to her brother who she is with after the auction. Thinking about it now makes me laugh while I am writing this review.

The chemistry between Linc and Meg is out of this world. Meg plays a small prank on Linc which ends up with him being in an bachelor auction, for a very good cause. Feeling bad that she tricked him she bids on him and is very surprised on how the auction ends. What they thought would be one night of passion actually ended up being an unbreakable connection.

Good for you Dani Collins on not making this book a cookie cutter romance! The reactions to the situations were very realistic. It had the right amount of heartache and the perfect amount of romance, all for 2.99 on amazon! Great job, Great book, Great price!

This book starts with a fund raiser for a handicapped boy, Josh, and his mother Molly. The highlight is a Bachelor Auction. Meg is back in town from Chicago. Spoiler. Lincoln has retired from working on the oil rigs to ranch in Marietta. They meet and she gets him into the auction. She bids and so does he and when it's over he pays her bid too. Then it gets tricky. Neither want to marry. He is afraid of love and she is adopted and worries why her mother gave her away. They both like each other, think they are safe and spend the night and morning together. She leaves for Chicago. Meg has a scary stalker and before she returns to Marietta finds out she is pregnant. The rest of this story is both happy, sad, afraid and mad. Here is where you need lots of tissues within reach. There is another spoiler before the end of the book. I hope you choose to read this book. It's waiting for you! I have this book for an honest review for NetGalley.

I was gifted this story for an honest review. The Bachelor's Baby is the story of two lonely people that need each other and don't even recognize it. Meg has always felt that she was not good enough or deserving of the love she secretly craves. Linc is scared to put his heart on the line because of his fear that his happiness will disappear. Dani Collins does a good job of making you feel the disillusionment and pain of these characters. AN EXCEPTIONAL STORY.

After finishing Bachelor at Her Bidding I was a little hesitant to jump into the next book. While I didn’t love The Bachelor’s Baby as much as the first one, it was still quite enjoyable. The relationship between Meg and Linc was well written, though at times I felt like it wasn’t natural. I really liked the character development of Linc in the short span of time.

Note: This ebook was provided by Tule Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Meg Canon has a successful career in Chicago but her hometown of Marietta, Montana has always been her safety net of sorts. She knows what it feels like to not be wanted, what with her being put up for adoption by her birth parents and her not being able to locate them even after a public appeal. As much as possible, she distances herself from anything serious with men, but that doesn't stop her from bidding on the one man who shares her need for non-committal relationships.

Lincoln Brady retired from working on oil rigs and wants to be able to enjoy having a place to call home. His a newcomer to the town of Marietta but that doesn't stop him from being roped in to taking part in the charity bachelor auction after the organizer is encouraged by Meg Canon to approach him. Their first two meetings may not have started on the wrong foot but now, Linc is hoping to spend a little more time with the woman who's set to head back to Chicago the very next day.

While Meg and Linc share a night that neither of them are able to forget, life returns to normal for both of them. After a brief exchange of emails, it's radio silence, and maybe that's for the best. But when what Meg thought was the flu turns out to be something more permanent, she does what she thinks is best and tells Linc that she's pregnant. Will a man who's never wanted to have children be able to get over his issues and realize that what started as a one-night stand could lead to forever?

The Bachelor's Baby by Dani Collins is book number three in Bachelor Auction, a series comprised of six books written by six different authors. Lead characters Meg and Linc start off somewhat adversarial after Linc invites Meg to his home a few minutes after they first meet. The fact that Meg suggests that Linc is perfect for the bachelor auction leads to even more tension between the two but I liked that it was only a momentary thing and wasn't the main conflict in the entire book.

I really enjoyed reading how Meg and Linc dealt with the pregnancy, working together to provide the best possible life for their unborn child. Meg's brother and soon-to-be sister-in-law, Blake Canon and Liz Flowers, also piqued my interest and their love story is told in Dani Collins' Blame the Mistletoe, a book that I've now added to my never ending TBR list. However, rest assured that The Bachelor's Baby can be read as a standalone and I'm giving it 4.5 stars out of five. ♥

Meg Cannon knows her subjects she does research on and Lincoln Brady was one of them. So, when he asked her for a one nighter while doing a good deed for her she was put out. When she was greeted outside the grocery store by Lily wanting to know if she thought her brother, Blake, would do a local fund raiser for a young man injured and now paralyzed. Meg said no because he was now engaged. Asked if she could think of anyone and well…
Linc (Lincoln) came to mind. He is new to town. He bought the Circle H next to her brother’s place. So, since he’s single and she feels payback is in order…Linc is not happy when he meets back up with her at the hardware store. It’s foreplay for 6th graders really but with a sting at least on Linc’s side. Now the gauntlet has been lobbed. He promised she would regret not going out with him later with that said leaving with a teasing manner in his look.
At the auction Meg felt bad so she started bidding on him. Then he started bidding against her to the final tune of $2500.01. She said fine no date he pays his money she would pay hers that’s when he realized he hurt her feelings and embarrassed her. Forgetting he wasn’t in a boardroom taking over a merger or outbidding other men. She was good at it too though. He pays the total amount to her surprise and offers to drop her at home. But when he finds out she has a stalker while they are talking his need to protect and possess is strong.
He relates personal experiences if how serious a stalker can be. But once he takes her home to his house for coffee and talks to her he realizes he wants her more than he has wanted anything in a long time. She warns him he’s in charge of protection he says ok.
I really enjoyed this book a great deal it was a real depiction of what anyone who has an unexpected pregnancy goes through. The questions, the worry, the denial, and the fear. All the characters steal your heart even the ones that can make you mad. There is a line that just stole my heart in this book that is a good indicator of what you will find, “Binding through love or binding through the soul we all need a connection.” I give this 5 stars. *I was given a free copy of this book in return for an honest review. All thoughts are my own. I was not paid by the publisher or the author for my review.*

This isn’t the first “oops I’m pregnant” type of book that I’ve ever read. But I think this is my favorite. I’ve never read anything by Dani Collins before, and I have to say that I really enjoyed myself.

In most of these books that I read, the guy gets pissed off once he finds out he accidentally knocked up the leading lady, blames her and broods for the next six chapters. Not in this one. Oh sure, he still mucks up the whole situation, but he’s quick to realize that he’s an ass and does his best to make amends.

I loved that.

Lincoln Brady is a man that knows how to own up to his “mistakes” and doesn’t shy away from confrontation. Meg Canon has been dealt a pretty shitty hand growing up in life, but it’s made her into the type of woman that doesn’t take shit from anyone. I loved Meg. I just wanted to give her a big hug and squeeze her.

Linc, however, I wanted to smack him upside the head during several different parts of the book. I liked him too though, so don’t worry. By the end of the book I even mostly loved him. He was a fun character to read.

I wish the book had been a bit longer, but I don’t think that there was anything missing from the book.

Dani Collins has a wonderful writing style and has a great ability to bring her characters to life. I could feel Meg’s pain when Linc was an ass about the baby. It brought tears to my eyes and made my heart hurt (that was one of the times I wanted to smack him).

I didn’t do much research on Dani before I started my review so I have no idea what other books she has published, but whatever they are. I want to read them.

I give this one a 10/10 recommendation.

The Bachelor's Baby by Dani Collins was such a great read! I really wish I could give this story six stars, because it totally deserves it. The emotions were right on point, the characters were well developed, and of course the story itself was well-written. Once I started reading, there was no way I was going to tear my eyes away from my kindle. Even at the end, I just wanted to re-read the story again, and experience it again for the first time. The writing was very good and the characters kept me entertained. I was so caught up in this story to where I felt like I was a member of the town, watching Meg and Linc get together. The interactions between these two will leave you smiling and rooting for them. I am so happy I got to read this one and I will definitely be giving this one a re-read!

Another winner from Dani Collins! I can't believe I hadn't read anything by her until last week lol

For those of you who read my reviews on a regular basis, you know I have a small weakness for category romances that most people find cheesy. I don't find them cheesy at all. Ok, at least not all of them. Anyway, it's safe to say I've read my share of them, but I've never managed to read one where there's a baby that results from a one night stand before. I don't know how I missed this lol So, I was super excited that this is what this was :) I loved how our hero, Linc, was in a panic when For me, that totally showed his depth of feelings for Meg and made me smile :)

This is my favorite book out of the whole series so far. My only problem is that everything happened pretty fast. I would definitely recommend it.

This novella was like a Mills n Boon / Harlequin romance but with more emotional depth and more realistic characters. I enjoyed it!

Linc, was thankfully, less brutish than the typical male lead in a Harlequin, while Meg was a good mix of sassy, independent and emotionally vulnerable.

I personally think there's no correct way for a man to respond to news of a surprise pregnancy, so I wasn't mad at Linc.

Obviously, it's human nature to want the man in this scenario to be immediately on board, but it's also an unrealistic and quite unfair expectation.

All things considered, I thought Linc handled himself pretty well. Yeah, he was rude to her at first, but he apologised very soon after and then went out of his way to take care of her.

Then he overcompensated massively by offering marriage.

That was probably the one thing I didn't really enjoy. I didn't feel his love for her was real. It felt born more of convenience and a desire for a family (and sex) than true love.

Still, even without proper relationship development, he treated her incredibly well. I loved the little domestic scenes and snippets of their arguments and them getting to know each other.

The moment of angst right at the end was such a genuine shock - I didn't expect that from the author at all, but I loved how things were resolved.

I have a couple of books from Dani Collins' Love in Montana Series and this is the recent copy I got. Maybe it was not the time yet to read the other books because right when I had my copy of The Bachelor's Baby, I read it immediately. Having said that, I will be reading the other books from this series soon since I liked what I read here in Book 3. There are 5 books but there is no need to read them in order, they can be read as standalone.

There are different couples in each book and in this story we are following Meg and Linc's lives.  We still have the usual rich guy. However, we also have a woman who is financially stable. I rarely encounter that kind of female protagonist in romance books. Most of the time, they become dependent on the guy's money. She, technically, does not need him. Okay, she wants him. There's that.

Meg is an adopted and that issue is tackled more than twice in her story. I do not know if it was represented well or not. It looked right to me but I'm not in the same position as her so my comment may not be correct. On the other hand, adoption is another topic rarely discussed from the romance books I have read. This, as I recall, is the first take I have read regarding that topic.

Lots of skipping. Very basic, bare bones. Added 'drama' for effect that had no reason to be there. The stalker was useless in the end.

Because there was so very little effort put into the story, the h's (and to some extent the H's) insecurities that kept coming out 'to add spice to the bland story' were enough to make me want to punch her, a lot. If the story had of been 'fuller', I probably would have gritted my teeth and overlooked it, but because her OTT whiney 'N O O O O B O O O D Y Y Y L O O O V E S M E E E ! ! !' bullshit just kept coming back and back and back. God, have some self respect! Get some counselling fgs!

She spotted/bled during her early pregnancy, which is scary, but the dr heard a heart beat and they are waiting for a scan and she's all 'my baby doesn't even want meeeeee!' And if that's not bad enough, she's whining that out right after thinking that the only reason the H is with her is because of the baby and without the baby he'll leave her and she loves him... so it just came across as a guilt trip man trap!

They both drove me mad on several occasions with their emo-repressed shit, which I found even sadder, cause I quite liked the previous book which was about her brother & new sister-in-law.

What An Amazing Book!

I loved this book by Dani Collins because of the excellent writing, intriguing storyline and amazing characters Meg, a news reporter who has been stalked by an obsessive fan so she goes home to Montana to clean out her old room for her brother’s increasing family, and to put some space between her and her stalker. She encounters trouble with he truck she’s driving and Lance, a newbie to her town comes to her rescue. When sparks fly between them, she decides to torment him giving his name to a local fund raiser who is arranging a bachelor auction much to Linc’s disapproval. When Meg bids on Linc and their sparring leads to the bedroom, you can bet these two are going to be in for a couple of surprises. I laughed, I cried and at times my heart ached for this couple. It was one of the best books I have ever read!

Another great book in the ongoing series of Love in Montana, this book, the story of Linc and Meg, will have you in tears and stitches, all at the same time, as Meg plays a formidable part in luring Linc to become one of the "available bachelors" in the bachelor auction to raise funds for Josh Dekker and his mom Molly, after a near fatal accident that left Josh with a spinal cord injury. The playful banter that sizzles between these two is destined to either fizzle out or explode, and either way, they are definitely in for some heat. One night! That's all it took! Now, what will happen when these two go their separate ways? Or will they? Is the spark strong enough for them to change their ways?
A beautifully written story of love when you least expect it, this book will carry you off into the world of love in Marietta once again.
