I went into this one trying to forget how much the first book didn’t work for me, and I’ll give it this—it was better. There was more plot, more structure, and I actually felt a hint of intrigue this time instead of just chaos.
But I still can’t push it past 3 stars. Mostly because more times that not, everything always circles back to sex.
And I kept waiting for the emotional depth to catch up… for the relationships to feel like more than just physical attraction, but it never fully got there for me. I didn’t feel that pull the way the story kept insisting I should. 😔
Which is frustrating, because there were moments that hinted at something deeper. Especially with Boston. Any time he was on the page, it felt like there was actual potential for something meaningful, but it never got the space to fully develop, and I wanted so much more of that.
I will say, the twist with who was behind everything genuinely caught me off guard, and that whole storyline had me way more invested than anything else.
Overall, I didn’t hate it. I was more engaged than I expected to be, and there were moments where I almost felt it… but it never fully landed.

・❥・⁀➷ pre-read
just now realizing this is the second book… & that apparently I need to read the first one because it ends on a cliffhanger
I was so excited when I got the arc!! Finally the finale in the story of Dempsey and her boys. The story follows up mostly the same part as book one, although in this one we get to see more of Sin, Dacre and Presley. Finally we have some answers to her mystery husband of hers. I loved the plot twists and their sex scenes were steamy and hot! I loved the character development from the boys and how they evolved to their relationship with her and their father. Personally I wanted more in the end with her father, maybe some more explanation of their relationship, as I felt it was a bit rushed. Overall a great read and I really enjoyed it!! Highly recommend!!!!
I have been eagerly waiting for book 2 since I had the opportunity to read book 01 + it did not disappoint.
Tbh this book really reminds me of the bonds that tie without any of the paranormal/fantasy part. Everything about it is kind of crazy but also so so fun. ALSO - for anyone that was shook by the cliff hanger in book 1…buckle up. 🙂↔️
Really like these books! Very smutty, mystery/thriller ish plot included and like so fun. 4 ⭐️s
Dempsey and her boys are back at it again, and if you loved their bonding sessions in book 1 then you will probably be going crazy for it in this one. They are still obsessed with each other, there was still drama, a new mysterious stalker, and a new man on the scene, but after the cliffhanger at the end of book 1 I was left a little disappointed. I just wanted more plot 😐
I had high hopes for the tension and drama Dempseys new husband would bring, but it didn't give what I was hoping for. Boston ended up being my favourite character out of them all, Sin being a very close second, but I felt like he rolled over too quickly. I was expecting more of a fight between them, more chaos as he tried to take back Dempsey, and more of a morally grey, smug attitude with some deliciously dark banter. I loved the softer side of him, but I wish there was more of a lead up to it. I wanted more moments between them up to his softer side. So yeah, that whole plot was over pretty fast in my opinion. Then we had the whole drama with her dad and new wife (I won't say who because of spoilers), but that whole plot arc was there, but only really became important in the last 15% to wrap up the story which also came to a very abrupt end. It was very anticlimactic.
Oh, and Dempsey was just annoying in this one. I understand she loves them all, but when she pulled her jealousy shit on Sin even after finding out why he was with his 'girlfriend', I actually wanted to bitch slap her. She has FOUR men, but can't handle Sin holding on to his girlfriend for appearances sake? Sit down and take a breather girl. It's giving desperate and it doesn't look good on you 🙃
I love a good spice scene, I don't mind if it takes up most of the book, but I needed the plot to be plotting in this one. Everything that happened in book 1 was leading up to this moment and I just felt a little disappointed 😢
Thank you so much to LoveNotes PR and the author for the e-arc. All opinions are my own.
I've been eagerly awaiting this book ever since finishing the first book because that cliffhanger was brutal! I really love this group and I am a big fan of an expanding harem, personally! (especially when there isn't any cheating and it's all communicated!) Basically, to put this into a synopsis, everyone except for our MMCs and FMC suck. There isn't a decent parent in sight. Mommy and Daddy issues galore. It's like Oprah handing out cars... YOU GET A SHIT DAD, AND YOU GET A SHIT MOM.
I do wish we got more depth to the MMCs in this installment, they didn't seem as individualized as the last book. As well as, I was left wondering about the actually storyline of it all, it didn't feel tied up by the end. I was at 96% and unsure if there were going to be answers or if there was going to be another book. So, it felt a bit rushed.
Overall, I enjoyed this and overall I really liked this duet (I am unsure if there are more books coming) - the spice was SPICY.
First, make sure you read Hearts of Fortune before picking this one up. This is book 2 in a duet, and book 1 needs to be read beforehand for the full effect.
Second, that was a smutty good time! Whether it was Dempsey with one of her guys solo or with all of them, the spice was spicing!
Sin, Press, and Dacre are all in with Dempsey and keeping her safe from an unknown threat. And then when one of said threat’s prime suspects turns out to be … absolutely not that … things get interesting. I truly didn’t call who was behind the attacks against Dempsey, so the suspense was well played.
It’s hard to say more without spoiling things, so just know that if you enjoy why choose, stepbrothers, touch her and ☠️ and lifestyles of the rich and crazy, then make this duet your next read!
Sigh I did not like this as much as the first. The first one ended on a cliffhanger and then this one starts like weeks after and it was just not it. Also there is an added man in the romance which in theory was fine and I liked him, but it was just too late in the book and it took away from the three guys. Like I felt like they hardly had any interactions. Overall I did enjoy this, but something was missing for me.

5/5 ⭐️ 4/5 🌶️
🇬🇧 I had been really looking forward to continuing this story! And the wait was absolutely worth it 🙌🏻 This is the second book in the story of Dempsey, Sinclair, Dacre, and Presley ❤️🔥 Thank you to the author for giving me the opportunity once again to read more about this exciting and brave story 🫂✨
Now, together, they will have to face someone new entering their lives 👀 here they’ll learn more about sharing hahaha, but also uncover new secrets and adventures that they’ll have to face together no matter what ✨
This book is soooo HOT HOOOOT! ❤️🔥😮💨 One of the best I’ve read! 🫶🏼 Every chapter leaves you wanting to know more and more about the story… HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
I had missed all the characters and their emotional development. Each of the protagonists, even though the story is told from Dempsey’s point of view, is far from flat—on the contrary, you feel their vulnerability, doubts, and contradictions, which make them more human and relatable ✨ Watching Dempsey’s growth and evolution as a character from the first book is especially captivating
I think the new addition to the story completely won me over hahaha I NEED more of this!! 🗣️✨💗 The way he treats the protagonist—you’ll love this new love interest just as much as I did!!
I definitely recommend this book just as much as the first one. This story, full of unexpected twists, will leave you wanting to keep reading more and more 🫵🏼
Spoilers don’t bother me but there could be some spoiler stuff in this fyi!
I ate this up. I love them all to pieces.
‼️You MUST read the first book before starting this one‼️
One thing I will say is that the suspense in this one was very low. A few things happened but it was kind of an after thought.. I didn’t expect it to be who it was when we find out.
Also, after seeing some reviews before it came out and seeing that Boston stayed around I was like ummm no.. I wanted the guys to run him off… After actually reading it and seeing what he has been doing for her for years and how he feels and everything he continues to do, its really hard not to love him..
Dempsey and the boys continue to grow closer.
Someone is still messing with her and they aren’t sure who it is.
Trent still pulls his crap but Boston makes him pay for it.
I’m such a sucker for the “I’d do anything for you moment”🥹 Obviously there are multiple.
Presley is a goofball and makes me laugh but I absolutely love how in love he is with Dempsey.
Pres, Sin, Dacre and Dempsey are insanely perfect together but now that Boston is added it definitely feels complete.
I didn’t have a favorite guy after reading the first book and I still don’t think I do because they are all so different but amazing together.
—————————
“Let me love you, Boston.” His gaze collided with mine with a fierceness. He lifted a hand to cup my face, his strong, rough fingers sliding along my jaw and into my hair. He dropped his forehead to mine, eyes closing. A thrill thrummed in my veins at being close to him like this. “You don’t understand how badly I want that.” A small smile spread across my face. “Then let us have it.” He pulled back, watching me for a small, incredulous moment. Then his lips dropped to mine, our mouths fusing. I could feel it all in that kiss—every desperate, lingering emotion that had been running through him for weeks.

Book Review🥀💍 Minds of Fate by E. Winn ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️| 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Tropes/Topics: 🥀 forbidden love 💍 forced proximity 🥀 first POV’s 💍 romantic suspense 🥀 reverse harem/why choose 💍 secret marriage
Blurb🥀💍 I was lying when I said filthy-rich playboys weren't my type. Turns out my richer-than-God stepbrothers were my exact weakness—temptation in tailored suits. The pull I feel toward Dacre, Sinclair, and Presley isn't a phase. It's a tether. One I can't cut, even if I wanted to. Now my stepfather is running for office, which means all eyes are on us. Critical eyes. Ones looking for any reason to tear the Aston family down. But sleeping with my stepbrothers isn't the only secret I'm keeping. The brutal criminal who showed up at Aston Manor claiming to be my husband is determined to drag me back to the hell I escaped from. Somebody keeps making attempts on my life. And my father is still out there, waiting to take his shot. If my secrets come out, it won't just ruin me. It'll destroy all of us.
Book 2 of Heirs of Cape Canyon after that cliffhanger in book one, I had to see what happens next 😳 This book has more of a plot than the first, with deeper storylines and a shocking twist that caught me completely off guard! There’s still plenty of steamy 🥵content, and the suspense takes a back seat, but the author’s growth really shines.
I don’t want to give too much away; I want to let readers discover the mystery for themselves! I’m open to reading more of her books in the future! ♥️
Thank you so much @lovenote PR and E.Winn for the ARC for my honest review! I truly appreciate it
Format: 📱 eBook 📱 (ARC) Check CWs before reading. Must read book 1, Hearts of Fortune, before diving into this one.
Okay, this was another of those hard to rate books, and another occurrence of "I wish GR gave half-star options".
This has to be one of my most hyped books. My bestie and I devoured book one in the duet when we had ARCs, and it's been one of those we constantly roll back around to when we discuss fave books by Aussie authors. For the most part, Winn delivered. She gave us more depth after the bombshell that was dropped at the end of Hearts, lots of tension and that undercurrent of suspense as you tried to work out what was going on, but at the same time, it was just missing... something.
I was absolutely hooked on reading - to the point Em and I were theorising who the "bad" was, what was going happen with "x" (name redacted for spoilers), and we were genuinely wondering how a HEA could come about, but then the main "event"? It felt very quick, almost lacklustre and left me wanting more - and the "resolution" was almost too perfectly convenient.
Now, I'm a person who loves spice in their books - often you'll hear me crow "the spicier the better" - but I will admit, with reading this one, I dare say this was a case of too much spice. Don't get me wrong, fantastically written, and some scenes gave some major emotional/relationship development. But it actually got to the point where I was going "sigh, another sex scene".
Overall though it was a fun read, and honestly, you should see the Discord chat between my bestie and I with our favourite quotes/highlights from the book - Winn definitely had us cackling at many points with some utterly brilliant one-liners, and raging at certain characters the next minute - my fave comment is from Em who said "tbh, every single parent in this book can get fucked", and you bet I wholeheartedly agree with that one. And I have to say, Giselle? Can't believe they underestimated her.
Definitely interested to see where Winn goes with her writing from here, and would be intrigued to see if Cape Canyon expands with other stories in the future.
Thank you to the author for the eARC opportunity. These are my honest thoughts that I have provided voluntarily.
ARC REVIEW 5 ⭐️/ 4.5 🌶️ Tropes • Why Choose (MFMMM) • Step Siblings • Forced Marriage • Billionaire Romance • Pierced MMC • Touch Her & D!e
“I’m sorry, does my fearful energy amuse you?” I demanded, shaking out my hands that were still trembling slightly. Boston fought a smile. “I’ve seen a lot of reactions to being on the bike. Flapping around like a dying fish is a new one.” I pulled back, affronted. “Flapping around like a fish?” “Yeah, it was something like this.” He shimmied his shoulders, squatting up and down on the spot in a terrible imitation of me. I’d jumped around with much more energy and finesse than that. ————————— E. Winn, thank you thank you thank you! I swear I have been invested in this series and it’s next book. I read Hearts of Fortune last year in March after buying it as a “Blind Date” from an local Indie Bookshop, not realising, that it left on a cliffhanger, I had been patiently/ not so patiently waiting and checking for updates.. and then I seen the update for ARC sign ups! And you bet your ass, I was signing up to try and get a front row ticket before its release. (Sorry, not sorry).
The second book definitely entails more spice than the first, and the plot was less, however when ya girl got multiples this definitely becomes a whole lot more smuttier (not a bad thing). In this though, there is character development, there is a plot twist and tension, and a new addition - and helloooo hottie. Relationship dynamic gets a bit thrown. I love that Sinclair is basically the boss and most rational and helps guide his brothers and Dempsey. For me personally, I loved it, I love a why choose, and this ending was great. I am grateful how E. Winn ended this (because most authors end it another way) and whilst I don’t mind that trope, I love the simplicity of the end!
thank you to Love Notes PR & E. Winn for the amazing ARC opportunity.
Book 1 MUST be read prior to this as they are a duet. It has been 2 years since I read book 1 and while I remembered all the major points of the book I had, of course, forgotten some smaller details that would have made this book smoother for me.
I loved book 1. At the time I wasn’t doing a lot of darker romance or romantic suspense so I enjoyed that part of the book. This is not super dark by any means but certainly isn’t contemporary either. I have since read a ton of romantic suspense (hello Catherine Cowles), so I was excited for that part of book 2. The suspense in this was fine, but the rest honestly fell flat to the point I’m questioning what I liked so much about book 1.
My Presley. Railing some undeserving waitress before he realized how much better it could be with me.
Ok, weirdo. You’ve been picked. No need to keep on. She’s mad at every woman who exists in the orbit of her 3 step-brothers and it’s very unbecoming.
Basically every chapter is them inserting something into her body. Very little plot but a whole lot of smut. Boston was easily the most interesting part of the book. He intrigued me. Then we get to what I thought was going to be the good part.
EXCUSE ME. Hard left turn.
I’m sorry did we really need ANOTHER person added to this?
I’d been happy from the moment Sinclair, Dacre, and Presley had become a part of my world, but now that REDACTED had joined our ‘band of sexual deviants’ things felt complete.
Girl stfu.
The tattoo cracked me up because if they all get it does that make her a landlord?
I will say that I at least didn’t see the antagonist coming. I had a handful of people on my list and it wasn’t any of those. But then it lasted like 5 pages and they were boning again 😂
I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I have been so excited for this book since reading the first one as an ARC. it did not disappoint. Note: You must read book 1 (Hearts of Fortune)

After reading the first book and cliff hanger I was so excited to see Ewinn announce the second book was being released and I signed up right away.
This book is HOT and has so much spice. I would say this book is more spice than plot so if you're wanting that then 100% this book is amazing. The story line is good and you can follow along well, even with the smutty good time it was still structured and well done - i love the dynamic with Dempsey and her Step Brothers with the addition of her Husband as well, wow.
ARC Read - Releases 3/26/26 ✨Summary✨ Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️.75 HEA: Yes (Final Book in Series) POV: Single (hers) Tropes: Why Choose (MFMMM), Stepsiblings, Suspense, College, Pierced MMC, Arranged Marriage,
Note: You must read book 1 (Hearts of Fortune) before this book!
This book picks up a few months after the previous book ended on a cliffhanger, when a man named Boston shows up claiming to be Dempsey’s husband. When Dempsey’s stepbrothers Sinclair, Dacre, and Presley threaten him, he leaves, but doesn’t stay gone. Instead, he begins stalking Dempsey. Will everything work out for Dempsey and the men she loves, or is her marriage legitimate and something she can’t escape?
Book 1 did not prepare me for the rollercoaster this one turned into. Can we say plot twists? The twists come from every direction, and I genuinely didn’t see most of them coming.
The spice is even hotter in this book, with a visit to a s3x club and further exploration into BDSM. The relationships Dempsey has with her men continue to grow, and you really see the depth of love between them. While everything might be unconventional, it feels right for them, and they can’t imagine a life where they aren’t all together.
Just one small thing that bothered me toward the end. Dempsey’s best friend Arena is present throughout book 1 and a good portion of this one, but when things start wrapping up, she kind of fades out. It felt like her presence and commentary were missing in moments where you’d expect her to be there. And I just know she’d have a lot to say lol.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and thought it was a great conclusion to the series!
Thank you Love Notes PR and E. Winn for the opportunity to review this book prior to its release!
I had been dying for this book after that cliffhanger in hearts of fortune and boy this book delivered!
this book has everything and more you could want! we get obsessed mmc’s, a twist you don’t see coming, MY WIFE scenes and super spicy scenes that had me HOT - I mean that sex club was downright dirty!
dempsey had just learnt her new husband is in town and isn’t leaving anytime soon, he is a monster who hurts people and she won’t let him take her back to her father! pres, dacre and sin are still obsessed with dempsey and will do anything to protect her!
I loved that even though at first dempsey was terrified of boston and what he was there for he eventually broke down those walls and proved he was there for the right reasons!
boston actually may be my favourite in this book not just for how he treats dempsey but he also isn’t afraid to show who he really is even all his dark parts!
I was blessed enough to receive an ARC copy of 'Minds of Fate' by E. Winn. She has done it again. This is truly the best book I have read so far in 2026.
This is a second book in a completed duology. It follows Dempsey and her three step brothers, Sinclair, Dacre and Pressley. What happens when she's home for good, after being abducted, but their luck seems to always be bad even in Cape Canyon? Dempsey throughout this book, learns to be more bold and say what's on her mind while also being vulnerable. She is also getting better at letting people take care of her and sharing her true feelings. The boys are slowly finding a way to share her. A mysterious character shows up for the most unexpected reason. His name is Boston Ivers. What does he want? And what will end up happening? Many more side characters do make an appearance some to piss you off and some to make lighthearted, things happen. Amara is still my favorite side character because she is a great friend and cares for Dempsey. She had some wonderful moments throughout this story.
The plotline of this book was A+. I was engaged from beginning to end and towards the last thirty percent of the book I could not put it down. I was just eating it up. This is definitely a duology I wish I could read over and over and over again for the first time.
If you have been questioning whether or not to start this duology or continue on with this duology, the answer is always yes. Recommend, yes!!!!
First and foremost, I would like to thank Love Notes PR and E. Winn for the opportunity to read Minds of Fate as an ARC, after reading the ARC of Hearts of Fortune! Hearts of Fortune was my first ARC and i will always have a soft spot for this characters and this story. <3
This books follows Dempsey and her 3 stepbrothers, 4 months after the first book and after a huge plot twist (which i can’t really disclose).
story: I feel like this second book had a way better plotline than the first one, with the comeback of her father, the attacks on Dempsey and *that* plot twist.
characters: I feel like the character development in this book was probably one of my favorite things. The way all the boys and also Dempsey grew in their own way was so beautiful. I said in my Hearts of Fortune review that i could really relate to Dacre and that remains true. 🥴
writing: Would I say this is a literally masterpiece? I don’t think so. The writing is really simple and easy to follow but I feel like that’s the charm of it. Also, just like the first book, it’s heavy on the spice frequency, but I wouldn’t say it’s heavy on the spice level!
Overall, it was a good book to keep me company and a good sequel to an already good book. The reason im giving 3 stars is because there were a few times I got super bored and I don’t think it’s a book that’s gonna stuck with me.
tropes: ♡ stepbrothers ✩ forbidden romance ✿ why-choose ♡ billionaire ✩ mafia romance ✿ arranged marriage ♡ touch her and you die ✩ pierced mmc
This book had the potential to be an interesting story about love and relationships, but it quickly loses its way. What could have been a compelling narrative is instead drowned in an overwhelming amount of “spice” that feels more like filler than substance.had the potential to be an interesting story about fate and relationships, but it quickly loses its way. What could have been a compelling narrative is instead drowned in an overwhelming amount of “spice” that feels more like filler than substance. Dont get me wrong, i love a smutty or a spicy scene in a book. And i read books with a lot of spice but this was way to much. at somepoint it feld like every scene. Every moment was this girl doing the horizontal tango with some of the guys. (or all of them)
Character development also takes a hit. It’s hard to connect with the characters when so much of their interaction revolves around physical attraction rather than genuine growth or emotional depth. As a result, their relationships feel forced and underdeveloped.
By the end, it feels like the book prioritizes spice over storytelling. If you’re looking for a rich, engaging plot, this probably isn’t it. If you’re here purely for spice, you’ll get plenty—but at the cost of almost everything else.
Thank you to Love Notes PR and E. Winn for allowing me to read this arc. These are all my honest opinions in this review.
Since that cliffhanger at the end of Hearts of Fortune I couldn't wait for Minds of Fate, the second book in Heirs of Cape Canyon duet and E. Winn made sure it was worth our wait. And it sure is. Because this book is spicy on a dangerous levels and the suspense is sky high. Minds of Fate is packed with ups and downs, drama and plot twists that will surprise you. And let's not forget the spice because this is more spicy and dark than the first book in the duet. Dempsey and her guys are even more hotter together and their chemistry is of the charts. And remember that cliffhanger and that statement. Yes, a total surprise there. But how it ends is even more surprising. That plot twist at the last few chapters understandably got me unprepared. And the way the events played out tied up all the loose ends. Loved it that they got their happy ending and Dempsey found a way for all of them to be connected and it was so thoughtful and sweet. Now that the Heirs of Cape Canyon duet is complete I can't wait to see what will comes next by E. Winn.
Thanks to the author and Love Notes PR for the opportunity to read and review an early copy of this book.
Minds of Fate was a strong continuation of the series that delivered on tension, drama, and character development.
This is a why choose, enemies-to-lovers story that leans heavily into emotional tension and layered relationships. The dynamic between Dempsey and the four MMCs—Press, Sin, Boston, and Dacre—was one of the highlights of the book.
Each of them played a role in protecting her, which added depth to their connection and made their relationships feel more complex.
The tension and drama throughout the story worked really well for me, and I found myself fully invested in how everything was unfolding. The plot also had a twist that I didn’t see coming, which made it even more engaging.
Even though the story is told solely from Dempsey’s POV, it didn’t take away from the experience. Instead, it allowed for clear emotional growth and development as the story progressed.
⚠️ This is book 2, so reading book 1 first is important for full context.
Overall, this was an engaging read with strong dynamics, emotional development, and a storyline that kept me interested throughout.
This was such a satisfying finale—I was excited to finally get this ARC, and it did not disappoint.
This picks up right where book one left off, and we get so much more of Sin, Dacre, and Presley, which I loved. Seeing how their relationships with Dempsey evolve, and how all of them come together to protect her, was really well done.
The suspense was great too. I genuinely didn’t guess who was behind everything, so those twists definitely kept me hooked. And yes… the spice absolutely delivers.
I also really enjoyed the character growth across the board. The boys really step up, and their dynamic with Dempsey (and even with their father) develops in a way that felt satisfying.
That said, I did wish we got a bit more depth when it came to Dempsey’s father. That part felt a little rushed compared to everything else.
Overall though, this was a really fun, steamy, twisty read and a strong ending to the duet. Just make sure you read Hearts of Fortune first or you’ll be lost.
Definitely recommend if you enjoy why choose, suspense, and a bit of chaos mixed in.
What a book!! This is E. Winn's 2nd book every and I devoured every word of it. You have to read the first book in the series Hearts of Fortune as it lays out the plot and introduces the characters. The book is a why choose billionaire step brothers tpe of book based on Dempsey and her mum who move into her mum's new husband's house and there are three handsomely gorgeous step brothers waiting for Dempsey. To say that this book is hot is an understatement!! The attraction between Dempsey and her three step brothers Sinclair, Presley and Dacre (two of my favourite boy names) is so hot, the pages burn. They are definitely touch her and die type of men and the storyline was also amazing! There is a plot twist that I did not see coming but certainly spiced the storyline up! If I could give this book 10 stars out of 10, I would. I cannot wait for E. Winn's next books, especially if they have such strong storylines!
This was such an amazing conclusion to Dempsey and her guys story.
I was so happy when I heard the author was coming out with the 2nd book in the duet! The cliffhanger from Book 1 left me wanting to know what happened next, and this book didn't disappoint!
Dempsey finds out in this book that she has been married, legally, against her will to a mafia "prince" her father arranged for (to get out of his debts). This mafia prince shows up at the Aston Manor at the end of Book 1 and Book 2 we get to learn more about him (Boston).
Dempsey and her guys (Sin, Dacre, and Pres) have to fight so many obstacles in this story and I love how their relationship develops and grows as well.
Boston definitely grew on me in this book as you get to know more of his back story as well. Dempsey doesn't trust easily and Boston definitely had to work for it.
I won't say anymore so as not to spoil things but, I definitely recommend reading this book!
Thank you to E. Winn and Love Notes PR for the ARC.
I went into this not knowing that it was the second book of a duet, and I highly recommend reading the first one before this one. While you still get a good idea of what is going on, I feel like I would’ve had a better understanding of the characters and their relationship and what is at stake.
Overall, I really liked the way they all cared for each other and protected each other. I thought it was sweet and showed how much they cared even though they all had painful pasts that made it hard for them to let others in. The spice was spicing in this book, it was hot and it was a lot and I enjoyed it. However sometimes it felt like that was a priority over real big plot points that were happening and took a back seat for the spice to shine. I think it could’ve been a better more balanced mix.
But if you just want hot sex, then this is for you.
I was so glad to read the conclusion of this amazing duet that brought me a satisfying conclusion after I was left on that wonderfully drawn out cliffhanger that left me wanting more but this was such an epic an emotional journey to their happily ever after.
I really enjoyed the pacing and after what happened in the first book of the duet was such great to see the tension rise between them all with new threats that they faced along the way to their happiness.
This was a 5/5 star and better than the first book and was such an incredible experience it was to see Dempsey have such a great connection and the love between her and her men was beautifully written and comforting to read about!
Also the spice was really steamy but also a well written plot that kept me engaged and hooked onto my kindle and I loved how the twists kept getting me more hyped up to read about and most importantly the chemistry that was chef’s kiss between them all.
This is book two in a duet; Hearts of Fortune should be read first.
The cliffhanger from book one hung around for a bit, but it wasn’t as bad as it seemed. Though it did give Sinclair, Presley, and Dacre more of a chance to protect and love Dempsey. Though when Dempsey actually talks to Boston, her alleged husband, she finds his reputation may be overly exaggerated, and he’s not as bad as she thought. Dempsey loves her men, too, and Sinclair knows forcing Dempsey to choose will only lead to someone getting hurt. But someone is after Dempsey and making threats against her, picking up after her father shows up again with a surprise guest.
Dempsey and her four men get their happy ending in this second book in a duet.
I did not expect the person behind the attacks to be the one it was, but it also makes sense in an odd way. I had thought it was Dempsey’s best friend for a bit, as she was always around or nearby when two of the major accidents happened, but alas, I will spoil that it wasn’t her. I do love how open Sinclair, Dacre, and Presley were in adding Boston to their group, and I wonder if it was because they saw how much pleasure he gave Dempsey. Or if it was because of how much he protected her when they couldn’t, so they also thawed to him around the same time that Dempsey did. I will say, the only thing that would have made the series better would have been if some swords crossed, as no one was related. But still a fantastic read!
I received an advance review copy from Love Notes PR, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book took a completely different turn from that cliffy in book 1, but I didn’t hate it 👀
It was a spicy good time, but there were also very sweet and tender moments that I loved from Dempsey and her gang of sexual deviants 😂❤️
I will say I enjoyed the first half more than the last half because of how the conflict was resolved. Dempseys relationship with her stepbrothers was such a huge secret and there really wasn’t a resolution for them in my opinion.
There was also one specific spicy scene that I felt needed to be written a little differently. There needed to have been more discussion beforehand based on her triggers and better use of safe words. Especially when she became unable to use that verbal safe word. So I will say that scene kinda rubbed me the wrong way and lowered my rating.
I received this book as an ARC. A huge thank you to E. Winn and LoveNotesPR for the opportunity!
I LOVED the first book in this series - devoured it in a day and told all of my friends about it, so I was so pumped to receive this book. The characters in this book were the same as I remembered, and the addition of some new characters really upped the chemistry. The spicy scenes were 🥵, which is exactly what I expected from how the first one went and I was not disappointed!
It did leave me feeling like I wanted more. I felt a bit rushed, some plot points didn't really make sense, and I felt like the addition of some characters needed to be fleshed out a bit more. A few more scenes would have pushed this into 5 star territory!
Thank you again for the opportunity! I will definitely be keeping an eye on E. Winn to see what's released next!
Finished book 2 last night and some of the reviews said you didn’t need to read 1 first but I would’ve been lost if I hadn’t. Definitely read your trigger warnings. Some of tropes will not be for everyone. Spice is 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ but there is blood play. BDSM, violence, kidnapping, mafia, billionaire romance, stepsiblings romance, FMC with MMMM 3 being her stepbrothers.
Now that we established a lot of triggers. There is suspense, action and alot of sex mixed in. All the brothers are loaded and and sound absolutely gorgeous and think I would go for Sin with his Jacob’s ladder, height, bad boy underneath and suits on top. I could do without mom and stepdad. They are little of no use. I enjoyed the pure smut of it but also mafia and billionaire romance side. Loved when she got the revenge that was surely deserved on dear ole dad.
