An amazing story brilliantly told by one of our best film historians. Hutchinson relates the tale of Gloria Swanson, Von Stroheim and Joseph P Kennedy (dad to JFK) and how they created the perfect storm for a film that was scandalous and expensive and ultimately impossible. It is the movie that we glimpse in Sunset Boulevard and which was the diabolical blueprint for all film disasters to come from Heaven’s Gate to Bonfire of the Vanities.
