Reuben Job is an amazing person. Both a Bishop in the United Methodist Church and a well known leader in spiritual formation. Trust me, those two things don't usually go together!
I first met Bishop Job's style of Quiet Time with God through "A Guide to Prayer." That one gets five stars for being life-changing; at least for me. It combines worship, Bible study, readings for reflection from contemporary writers, and focused prayer, for every day of the week, with each week being another theme in spiritual development.
So when I learned Bishop Job had applied the same format to the major themes of John Wesley's preaching and teaching, I bought it and dove into it. It was also an enriching experience.
Both books have been a blessing to me in my spiritual journey

This is a very readable book with lots of good material. The layperson will have no difficulty with this one. An excellent job of writing by a retired Methodist Bishop.
