A new era rises from the ashes of the House of Slaughter in this thrilling new chapter!
The House of Slaughter has suffered war, betrayal, and the shattering revelations that brought its legacy to the brink—but in the aftermath of those final events and with the destruction of their house, new threats still await and a dangerous question begins to rise:
What happens when the monsters aren’t the only things worth fearing?
Eisner- and GLAAD-nominated writer Tate Brombal and cartoonist Adriano Turtulici reveal what's become of the House and its surviving hunters in this thrilling follow-up to the breakout spin-off series, now available for the first time ever in one complete edition!
So much better than the inconsistent House of Slaughter series. There's a power struggle happening as the current Dragon of the House of Slaughter is dying and a new one will be elected more or less like a new pope. Of course there's also a monster involved.
Brombal brilliantly captures the intrigue and scheming of the SIKTC universe. There’s backstabbing and double-crossing galore in this race to elect the new Dragon of the House of Slaughter – much to our delight. Rest assured, monsters and gore are also on the menu.
A slight disappointment on the visual front: it’s clear that Turtulici is a talented artist – you can see it in his compositions, the body language of his characters and his settings – but you also get the sense that it’s just another job for him.
This is about the power struggle between Cecilia and the other leaders with ambitions to become the new dragon as the current dragon lies on his death bed. and it is a quite good addition to the slaughterverse.
I am looking forward to learn more about Cecilia, Maxine and the dragon himself - and to see these characters’ future and past interactions with Erica.
I was not a big fan of the art, which was serviceable, but lacked Werther Dell'Edera’s finesse. And Cecilia looked too nice several times throughout, which should have been adressed before final approval.
