Reading this book inspires me to trust the Lord more and act out in Faith.
One of my favorite points is that there is NOT a battle between darkness and light. Light always defeats darkness. Darkness has no vote. In order to defeat darkness we need to shift our thinking to focus on making our light shine brighter rather than trying to destroy darkness.

Do you want to know what it takes to be a revivalist? Read this book and you will receive some very insightful keys to see revival unlocked in your city, state, and nation! Banning shares some inspiring stories from his life and others that are encouraging and fueling for your own fire. He also shares what these "burning ones" will look like and what must take place for us to start moving in that direction.

In the chapter "The Rod and the Sword", Banning reveals why it is important for the generations to come in alliance with each other and points out how it will be, "a vital key to seeing revival sustained".

Throughout the book he also talks about how this "New Breed" will no who they are and where they are going with boldness and courage. When I started reading this book, my heart would leap as he shared what needs to be done. I know I'm not there but this gave me a direction of where to go next and how to pursue it. He also covers some foundational points that are often times over looked. Like shining your light in the public! Living with Grace! Having intimacy with Jesus! Now I know some of these things we have heard before, but it is important to understand the role of these foundational roots so that we can stay grounded when we are in revival.

Now your going to have to read this yourselves, but he also gives 4 powerful steps on how to keep SUSTAINED PRAYER that I found really helpful!

After reading this and seeing all the key points that are vital for all of us to see revival sustained, I know it's right around the corner.....why else would we all be here???

I first read this book 2 years ago. After finishing the first chapter I called my fiancé and told him we had to find out about this place called Bethel. A few months later Bill Johnson came to Nashville, where I was living, and spoke. A year after that my fiancé enrolled in Bethel's School of Supernatural Ministry.
If you want a book that will challenge how you view your life, this is it. Banning writes very well and down to earth. I still have my copy, down turned pages and all. You'll definitely be sharing this book with your friends!!

This book radically transformed my life!

I'm finishing this book as I type. I can't even begin to explain the impact this book has made on me. The Lord put this book in my hands at just the right time, in just the right season of my life.. I'm forever grateful and marked. I strongly recommend this book. I believe the strong emfassis Banning places on building a "Secret Place Lifestyle" is crucial for all believers.

The most evident way that the Lord speaks to me personally is through dreams at night. If you're like me in that way then you'll love this book. Banning shares some powerful prophetic dreams that have changed the course of his life and ministry. Between learning to build in the Secret Place and understanding our passionate call to a lifestyle of Holiness, you'll have no choice but to finish reading his book with a greater hunger and fire for the Lord. I'm sad to see it end.. But I'm finishing with an even greater thankfulness for this set apart lifestyle I've been called to walk in. Buy the book, read it, and pass it on.

About the Author:

Banning and his wife, SeaJay Liebscher are the Directors of Jesus Culture, a ministry mobilizing a generation of revivalists and reformers who will shape culture and transform nations. They are the Senior Leaders of Jesus Culture Church located in Sacramento, California. Their passion is to see nations awakened to the love and power of God and for a generation to fully give themselves for the cause of Christ in the earth.

My Review:

Todays society is called to revival and it is urgent to join the movement. Jesus Culture is a movement dedicated to revival. In the book, Jesus Culture, you will learn all there is to know about the movement and find out how to answer the call that God has placed on your heart. The book includes discussion questions where you can learn more about your role in the vast universe that is our Father.

The author states serving someone else's vision when you can't find your own, just as Elisha had dome for Elijah. I have found that statement to be true of a lot of things in life. Even when there are other circumstances such as a person that is mourning a loss in their life. I was always told that if the grief is too much for you to bear then try helping others in some way and this will be a catalyst to get you past it.

I agree with the author when he stated that the older generation is to come along side the younger generation and teach them. I agree with him because there are so many things being lost because the older generation is failing the younger generation in this way. If the older generation would just take up the task of teaching the younger maybe things could continue turning around in the world. We are failing them by not showing them the way.

Within the pages of this book, you will want to see the same hope the author does. He is on fire for the Lord and you can feel it through the pages. Join the movement today!

Review Title: Think Like a Revivalist (review of Jesus Culture: Calling a Generation to Revival by Banning Liebscher)
Reviewer: Janice S. Garey
***** 5 Stars

Fascinating read for anyone who is interested in revival and what it will take to get there. I've had the book for awhile because it got misplaced. I wish I had read it sooner because it contains so much valuable information for believers who want to see God's Kingdom advance on earth.

In particular, I appreciated the diplomatic way the author approached the thorny subject of getting the generations within the church body to work together to go forward. The older members are sometimes reluctant to let go while the younger members want to act independently and go their own way. That hinders the church from moving forward. Alignment works wonders. The author used himself as an example as a young man wanting to go with his ideas and at first not willing to work toward advancing the ideas of the older members. He found blessings in acting humbly and helping with the vision of others. He utilized several Bible stories of those who were mentored by their elders such as Elisha and Elijah, and Esther and Mordecai to backup his points. I felt the author to be right on target with his thoughts in this portion of the book.

Other important subjects the book addresses include realizing the extent of God's love and the impact of acting in tune with that massive support of God's pure love; the importance of prayer saturation as revival is sought; and, the supernatural power available within Jesus that is available to believers who take risks and step out in faith to prove that God does still perform healings and other miracles as a way of attracting attention to Himself and drawing new believers into the fold. Each of these subjects is covered thoroughly so there is no mystery about how these ideas work out in real life.

This book whetted my appetite to read more from this author and others he mentions as his spiritual elders. A main theme appears that we are to learn from what mistakes others have made before by hearing or reading about them without having to make those same mistakes again. The positive message of the book left me feeling hopeful even as much of what I see on the news and in the world around me makes me feel discouraged. This book is a big dose of hope.

I thank bookfun.org, the author, and the publisher for providing this book for me to read and give my honest review. I want to go back and reread portions of the book before I share it with others in ministry who may find ways to proceed in areas that have been stagnant. I think people who work in ministry will be blessed by good results if they read this book and apply the information within their realms of influence.

Banning Liebscher has given believers an insightful commentary on revival in his book Jesus Culture Calling a Generation to Revival. His stated desire is to see cities and nations changed by the Presence of God and this being activated by believers having a new mindset grounded on the truth that nothing is impossible. Liebscher uses prophetic dreams and happenings to illustrate what he believes God intends to do through regular believers. Regular believers who themselves have been transformed by recognition of who they are in Christ Jesus and being willing to step out of comfort zones into areas where Christ's supernatural power is working in and through them. He encourages the believer to passionately love God and become passionate about His work, to recognize the need for an all-consuming prayer life and to learn to expand the Kingdom the way Jesus did. "He always spoke the truth in radical love, backed by demonstrations of power, and those manifestations validated His authority and revealed who He was."
Liebscher writes with conviction to motivate everyday Christians to "dismantle the intentions of the enemy and emphasize Heaven's hope." Emphasizing that age is not a factor, he encourages revivalists to live a life of passion, not disciplines, and to let their light shine before men. The author uses scripture extensively to support his beliefs about revival and what a revivalist looks and acts like. There are also numerous quotes from notable Christian authors and leaders such as Andrew Murray, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and Bill Johnson. At the end of each chapter are discussion questions enabling the reader to internalize and personally apply what has been shared. Jesus Culture Calling a Generation to Revival is a remarkable book of practical instruction for those followers of Christ who are willing to step out and take responsibility to further the Kingdom of God.

A Life Changing Book

This book, as stated in the title, will truly transform the reader. Banning Liebscher has written a book which should be read by all generations who wish to bring about a "revival" in today's culture. It is about using our lives as examples to others, realizing our purpose in life, and pursuing a close relationship with Jesus. A relationship which will become a reflection for all to see, and a blessing to all who truly want to represent a Christ-centered life on Earth.

This book is an invaluable resource in changing our own lives and the lives of others as we strive to bring about a new revival. The author uses Bible passages throughout the book which relate to each chapter he has written. He also includes discussion questions at the end of each chapter. These questions cause the reader to examine the meaning and message put forth within the book's pages. There are so many wonderful messages here, too! One section is entirely about the power of prayer and how important it is to develop an ongoing relationship with God by developing a personal prayer life. This will allow us to center our lives on the desires of God.

By learning to focus on God’s desires, the reader will learn how to reach others and touch their lives in ways which will change them. By touching lives one person at a time, we can all bring about a new revival. The overall theme of this book is that nothing is impossible.

Jesus Culture is a life changing book which gives the reader all of the tools needed to make a difference in the world today. I highly recommend this book and found it to be inspiring and thought provoking. It is an extremely worthwhile read which will change your life!

Based on what the tagline was, I knew I was in for a book calling forth action from those who read it. This book was an awesome example of a God-sized vision for revival carried out through the generations. It encouraged the readers to grab a hold and be a part of the movement instead of making excuses or sitting back and letting others do the work.

The book was broken down to five sections of two chapters each; complete with discussion questions at the end of each chapter. It is an excellent book to encourage the new revivalists to band together and join in on the dream of reaching as many people as they can for the cause of Christ.

It is full of amazing true stories of people of faith who took a hold on what God was calling and pushed forward no matter the risk. It challenges the readers attitudes to want to change instead of sitting back and letting the younger or older generations do all the work. It encourages to step out in faith, faith that loses our safety nets, live in such close communion with God, and believe that anything is possible with His help.

We need to answer the call of the Father, we love because He first loved us. We need to grab a hold on what His vision is and join Him in seeing it through until the end. We need to not give up, but to plow forward into bringing the nations back to the Lord.

Banning Liebscher writes with passion and conviction. In the Jesus Culture, he shares his beliefs on how revival is possible along with the opportunity to live a supernatural lifestyle. I appreciate his commitment to a vision of changing the world. I liked how the book made it clear that the church should be influencing the world rather than the church influenced by the world. . And it was refreshing that he noted the importance of respect to the older generation. There is no denying that this book was written by someone committed to a life of revival and reform.

Each chapter was concluded with discussion questions. I liked how the author started each section with a summary page or two. Jesus Culture has the potential of being used not only for individual study but also small groups. The personal illustrations provided clarity to the points Banning Liebscher was trying to make and were very interesting. I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I picked up this book as Jesus Culture were visiting my home city and I'd heard mixed reports. I found the call for revival to be inspiring but the theology to be way off. Invoking the example of heretics like Lonnie Frisbee, William Branum, Oral Roberts, Kathryn Kuhlman and John Dowie, Liebscher mangles the story of Jonah into his version of a saccharine-sweet God and spends far too much time rabbiting off the phrase "signs and wonders" and not on actual signs of revival.

I'm all for revival, I'm all for the younger generation being stirred up to serve God and reach the world for Jesus, but not using age-old heresy to do it.

This is a good encouragement for Charismatic Christians to rise up and become a generation of revivalists and reformers. The author gives accounts of people already seeing the Kingdom of God manifest. Liebscher writes that he has been called to rise up this generation. He gives some of his own experiences too, such as his dreams, revelations, and prayer life. This is a challenging book, calling Christians to not just talk about revival but actually bring it about.

This book is a book about revival. That is the central theme in this book. Banning Liebscher talks about how God has called us to go even more than counter-culture (against the culture). Jesus is our role model, and we should remember that everyday. Liebscher says we were created for this moment for a reason, and that is to bring revival to this land. Banning Liebscher is very passionate about this concept and does a good job relaying what his message is. I received this book from bookfun for my honest opinion.

This book taught me so much about how to become a modern day revivalist.
They respect those that came before, they love Jesus passionately, they live a life of prayer, and they take full use of the supernatural power supplied by God.
We can all be revivalists, that was my main take away. The pastors or people with huge ministries aren't the only people God uses to create change in our world. That calling is for all.
Highly recommend this book.

Jesus Culture, Calling A Generation to Revival by Banning Liebscher is a call for a revival of cities and nations back to the Lord. He tells of healing and restoration. He tells us that God is raising up and sending them in to the world where they are most needed as carriers of prayer. Is this the generation where hearts are burning for revival? He tells us why he thinks it is.. I found this book informative and enlightening..
