The Third Brain: Writing at Full Capacity

Rate this book
Most writers understand using the creative Right Brain and the linear, logical Left Brain in the writing process.
They may not be aware that we each have a Third Brain as well.

The Unconscious Mind.

This can be one of the most powerful and magical tools in a writer’s arsenal. Decades of studying this brain while writing and teaching, has yielded the book you now hold. In it Cynthia Whitcomb shares with you ways you can access this Third Brain and use it to write at full capacity.

You can go beyond what your Right and Left Brain have thought possible. It may seem magical or even paranormal, but each and every one of us is gifted with this Third Brain.

Don’t be afraid of the dark, for it is illuminated by flashes of extraordinary brilliance.

Reading The Third Brain is like pouring a mug of robust coffee with your favorite creamer or loose leaf tea with honey in a china cup and pulling up a comfy overstuffed chair next to author Cynthia Whitcomb’s down feather sofa, snuggling under soft throws, and downloading a lifetime of inspiration from a writer’s life; specifically, Cynthia’s writing life.

Here you will find theory, practical application, and mystery, all while encouraging the reader to let go of everything, including ego, that interferes with getting the work of writing down.

Here you will find nuts and bolts and heart for the why and how and when and what to write. Here you will find a writer chatting about how to build and sustain a writing life.

And here, in her book, you will find the mentor you always wanted, the one you wished was in your corner, and magically, unexpectedly, astonishingly, generously, she is. The Third Brain is the book that will take you beyond wanting to be to BEING a writer.

A Book for Writers to Read Once a Year for Life

The author has lived a life in full. Remarkably, she’s willing and able to share it with the reader in such a way that our path, each reader’s path, is bathed in sunlight, or starlight, and the way forward is clear.

The book is full of practical advice and technique, too, offered in that skillful way of masters that makes it seem so simple. It is, if you take the advice.

Even without typing another word, I am a better writer for reading Cynthia Whitcomb’s book.

Finally, a book that talks about the writer as a creative person!

So many writing books are about specific technique or techniques one should follow and train with. Very few address the actual creative process. Whitcomb provides us with the tools to create the space that allows creativity to emerge. This allows the writer to engage their whole self in the process, which enriches that process. It is a refreshingly non-formulaic approach.

I highly recommend this book.
