It was a time before the Great War, and Cybertron was experiencing the end of its Golden Age and was in desperate need of heroes. Instead, it found itself with celebrities, the greatest of which was Blurr. But change is swift, and Blurr was faced with a decision that could send Cybertron into its darkest age.
This was fine. It was pretty shallow as far as spotlights go but y'know... it's Blurr. My only big comment is that I laughed so very hard at the Autobots and Decepticons giving Blurr pamphlets. That was just so silly. Yeah, very bloody and crazy revolution going on, but they super have time to make pamphlets to recruit people with. Also like what would those pamphlets even say? The Decepticons is just an ebook of "Towards Peace" by Megatron. Legitimately, I'm not even sure the Autobot code was created yet by that time. I think the Autobots were still just the senate's kind of fictitious "not the Decepticons" faction.
Admittedly, while reading this one I was mostly eagerly awaiting the other issues after this one…but I don’t want to skip any of the IDW Transformers issues so I stuck this one out. It is probably because so far Blurr hasn’t really captured my interest, but I’m sure that will change in later issues where we get to see more of him.
It is pretty interesting to see how different he is from the Blurr of the 80s cartoon, though! The cartoon has been my first dive into Transformers so I’m not familiar with other iterations (for now). I get my man Blurr, as a major yapper and often fast talker as well
After the previous story's murky colours and cynical tone, the coherent designs and bright colours of this short were very refreshing. I was distracted by the plot’s similarity to the film Cars - but in a children’s comic about robots that turn into vehicles, I ought not to have found this surprising.
