I liked the characters for the most part although I really couldn’t understand why Celani was with her boyfriend. She seemed capable and sure of herself so why up with him?!
Killian is the strong silent type. Liked him.
I did have an issue with the sense of danger. In the end Killian and his team eliminate the threat, but throughout the book it has never felt like a threat. It felt like someone said it to frighten her boyfriend but didn’t mean it. We never see any attempts or anything. So because of that, it makes her staying dumb and it makes the response in the end seem like overkill.
Again her staying didn’t help anything and I find it hard to believe they couldn’t figure out what was going on sooner. It felt more like the book just wanted the romance and the sneaking.
I have read a few of the books from the series and this one was underwhelming. Most of the book was very mundane. The romantic relationship was surface level at best. As for the “action” it was literally 2 pages almost at the end. I also didn’t like that Killian had to basically give up his company to stay at home.
Usually Estelle does no cheating in her books...just because Pierce is an ass why not leave him? They are not married, no kids, she acts like she can't stand him from the first moment he's mentioned in the book. She's a spoiled little brat and instead of faking the funk SOULD OF LEFT HIM. Celani was already enamored of Killian from day one. It's rude and disrespectful. And of course Pierce had cheated on her all along so it made her behavior acceptable? When she knew nothing about it. And im really disappointed in Estelle. Alot of her latest books have been questionable. There's a reason i took a step back from them. Apparently it wasn't long enough.😒
