Rate this book
Teagan Harper is barely ten years old when she finds herself orphaned and sent away to live at Raven’s Peak, a Gothic estate on the seaside cliffs of Maine. Soon, though, her heartache and loneliness are tempered by a blossoming friendship with the only other child living at Raven’s Peak: Kane Doyle, only two years older than Teagan and abandoned by his mother. Over the years, the pair grows inseparable. First they’re pranksters and confidants, but eventually their feelings change, and best friends turn into soul mates. On the cusp of Teagan’s departure for a university in Boston, they share a glimpse into their happily-ever-after and make promises of forever.

But Teagan and Kane’s engagement and dreams of the future are shattered when Teagan returns home to find Kane gone from Raven’s Peak—and living with someone new. Devastated and heartbroken, Teagan cuts ties with her beloved adoptive home and tries to move on with her life. But years later, when the shocking truth behind Kane’s betrayal comes to light, Teagan must decide whether to embrace her new life and let go of her past once and for all, or fight for her dream life with the only man she’s ever wanted.

I read this via Kindle Unlimited

Bravo, Fiore, bravo. I absolutely loved this. I was drawn in from the first paragraph. This was a lovely story of love tested over a span of almost 20 years. I loved Kane, and I loved Teagan, but there were times where I wanted to slap sense into them. This wasn't really all that happy of a story, there were times where I wanted to cry buckets...but there was lots of laughter and happy moments too.

I really enjoyed the main characters, all of them. The 2 main characters whose story this is, as well as their guardians, and later on, Teagan's friend and business associate Simon.

This was a story of growing up, and finding oneself, of love of epic proportions, overcoming life changing obstacles, and going after what you want/need in life. I thoroughly enjoyed it. This review doesn't come close to giving this book justice, its just one you need to check out for yourself.

A beautiful and amazing story of two wonderfully crafted characters, Teagan and Kane. This book is a magical journey through their childhood friendship, a sweet and tender teenage love, and a deep and everlasting love for one another by soul mates. Only don't get too comfortable because there's a lot of angst and trouble to dig through before readers will reach the sunny side.

Kane broke my heart right along with Teagan's. There were times I wanted to hate him. But I couldn't - not really. He pieced me back together along with Teagan through redemption and forgiveness.

There are also some excellent and heart stealing secondary characters that will charm and endear themselves to readers.

I loved this book from start to finish. I loved the author's voice and her talents in presenting such a refreshing and thoroughly enjoyable reading experience. It is truly an unforgettable story that will linger in my heart for years to come. And luckily I won a hard copy through a Goodreads giveaway that now resides on my "keeper" bookshelf.

It is often said that eyes are the windows to the soul and in L.A. Fiore's A Glimpse of the Dream, she takes her readers on an emotional, heartbreaking, and touching journey of loss, friendship, love, second chances, forgiveness, and new beginnings. With a whirlwind of raw emotion, Ms. Fiore was able to interweave the journey of Teagan and Kane from childhood to adults. Their journey was a slow building process that blossomed from childhood friends to soul-mates to lovers. In a true heart wrenching fashion, Ms. Fiore gives readers a realistic portrayal of growth. Though Teagan and Kane knew from the depths of their soul that they were indeed soul-mates, they learned that true love is about sometimes letting someone go. And the beauty of this book, was that Ms. Fiore allowed her readers to FEEL the hurt, the anger, resentment, hope and love when Teagan and Kane were reunited after several years apart. So if you want a book that reminds us all that regardless of time and circumstance, true destined love conquers all.

Teagan's parent's were killed in a car accident when she was ten years old. She goes to live with a friend of her grandmother's. It's there she meets a boy, two years older than her, and develops a best friendship that eventually turns into love.

Kane's mother was bi-polar and left him with Mrs. Marks who adopted him. He falls in love with Teagan and they eventually become a couple living under the same roof. They share their first time's together and then it's time for Teagan to go off to Boston College.

Kane is supposed to follow after he wraps up some loose ends. Those loose ends, you ask?

He was a volunteer firefighter and while she was gone he

Safety: The were both virgins and he was never with another woman. She had several causal lovers after he broke her heart. When they got back together, they never talked about protection or STD's. He did voice his unhappiness that she had been with other men even though it was him who pushed her away.

DNF. This book is not what I expected from all the 5 stars rating. Boy meets girl, grow up together and become best friends/lovers. Boy splits up with girl and then girl gets to have lots of casual sex with hot guys. I don't want to read about description of explicit sex between the h and other guys. So I gave up. Couldn't be bothered with even finding out what the big secret is behind the guy breaking up with her. Just not interested anymore. Don't think I will read her book again.

I was really excited to find this book on Net Galley. I'd previously read and loved Beautifully Damaged and while it's sequel wasn't quite as good I'd put that down to the fact it was a sequel.

This story starts really well with young girl Teagan, recently orphaned, being sent to stay with Mrs Marks a friend of her Grandparents. Feeling frightened and alone among strangers she meets Kane, another ward of Mrs Marks. He is a couple of years older and is the sweetest boy ever. He does everything he can to make her feel welcome and the two become very attached. As they grow older their relationship develops from friendship to romantic.

When Tea heads off to college however a family secret tears them apart. Tea tries to recover from her broken heart and make her way in the world on her own but can never really forget the man she considers her soul mate and best friend. When she returns to her childhood home years later and discovers the secret that split them apart she has to decide whether to fight for the man she still loves.

I thought this was a really nice story and particularly liked the start. Despite the tragic circumstances that forced her there her adoptive family seemed ideal. I loved the pranks and games and young Kane was just so cute.

However I started to struggle a bit with the characters as adults. It looks from other reviews that a lot of people loved this book and laughed and cried along with the characters but I just couldn't connect with them. For me there was just too much analysis of everything they were feeling and thinking. I'd prefer if rather than saying it they showed it. Maybe it's a cultural difference between the UK and US but I've never met anyone who speaks about their feelings in such detail.

It is a good story but it just missed the spark for me.

Looks like I'm going to be a Debbie Downer here but I can't hide my feelings. This is quite frankly one of the most childishly written books supposedly aimed at adults I've ever read.

There's a good idea for a story there and there's glimpses of something good (hence "it was ok" rather than just "poor") but if I wanted to read erotica, I'd read erotica and am certainly not above reading erotica. The sex scenes weren't even that good. They often felt added in to titillate in hope that you ignored there actually isn't much substance to the characters immaturely "poking" each other one page and sniping at each other like they stopped ageing at 12 years old (even when they're pushing 30) in the next paragraph. The first sex scene was particularly cringey, like reading a bad anatomy lesson written by an adult who has forgotten (but thinks they know) how teenagers talk. I can remember being a teenager experimenting with my physical urges, nothing would've made me kick a boy out of my bed or hidden woodland faster than calling it "poking" - I know they're supposed to be teenagers and teenagers don't necessarily have an adult vocabulary but I'm sorry, give me a break. They were 17/19 not 10.

The only main young character who doesn't feel like an overdramatic cartoon character is Simon. He talks a lot of sense. All the older adults are just avatars for the fact that the two love interests are experiencing prolonged adolescence. There's supposed to be heart in this story, everyone is supposed to be a family but I couldn't completely buy it because of how unreasonable the two main characters are to one another at times.

I don't know if this had an editor but it definitely reads like it needed one. At least to point out where restraint is required.

EDIT: I actually hadn't finished the book when I originally gave it 2 stars. I believe in trying to see a book to the bitter end and give it a fair chance. In this case it was a mistake. After another half a dozen AWFUL, repetitive and unnecessary sex scenes I was p****ed off enough to downgrade my view to completely did not like. Less is definitely more.

An amazing story that I didn't want to end. This book had me laughing, crying, hoping and loving. I went through every emotion and loved every moment of it.

Tea was a strong, lost and heartbroken girl when she met Kade. After a life altering event Tea found herself in a place that she didn't know with people she didn't know. But all it took was for 1 boy to befriend her and a dream was had. Kade took Tea under his wing and became her best friend. As years past their friendship grew and love was formed. The ups and downs their relationship endured was heart wrenching, heart breaking and hopeful.

The characters in this book complimented each other and made the story flow perfectly. This book really surprised me with the twist and turns the story line took but it kept me in grossed in the story to the very end.

Amazing writing and beautifully told story. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

While I liked the story and understand that the target audience is new adult, I was really frustrated when they were both in their mid to late 20s and still acting like idiots. The small 'bump in the relationship' during the last 30 minutes highlights this as neither talked to each other, just at each other.

Overall, I did enjoy the story and apologize to anyone outside who heard me griping about the MCs as I was walking through the neighborhood... 🚶😎

"A Glimpse of the Dream" by L.A. Fiore is another one of her emotional-gripping reads. Within the first hour of reading, I went through so many feelings it was pretty insane. But if you have become familiar with Fiore's work that's what you've come to expect. With that, she likes to switch it up. Keep you on your toes and your heart in a vice when it comes to the heroine and hero's relationship. This book truly was no different.

You have Teagan and Kane. Two kids who both have suffered tragedy and has found solace within each other and under the roof of their adopted mother Mrs. Marks and her home at Raven's Peak, Maine. Over time their friendship develops into deep feelings of love. Once in a meaningful relationship, they begin to realized the happily ever after dream is not so easily achieved. After a painful revelation, their dream that they fought for is shattered. Many years later, both Teagan and Kane are at odds with each other. Teagan soon begins to realize there was more to their painful end then she could ever imagine. Will they both be strong enough to pick up the pieces to achieve that dream they so longed for?

Out of all of Fiore's books this was such a tough read. Meaning I found myself an emotional blubbering mess and honestly I'm not that way. Even when it comes to a book I LOVE. I can hold it together pretty much. This book wasn't sharing that same sentiment, at all! It basically told you to prepare yourself for so much love and heartache that you may need to seek some therapy after. Teagan and Kane characters were written so strongly. They basically held their own in this book. Such a strong connection you basically felt it coming out the book. Another positive in this book was the supporting characters. These are the characters that become part of a family to the main couple lives. I love how Fiore writes these characters. It's like they could actually be a part of your family. You develop such a strong connection with them because of how they help the hero and heroine in their world. My only negative was the character Camille and her storyline that developed later on. Can I just puke on her? She made me ill. Just a nasty person that you wish would just go away in a cornfield. Couldn't stand her, and she kind of almost killed the story towards the end. But as they say, karma is the big "B".

In all, if you are in the mood for a tearjerker and a beautiful book then please download this into your kindle and get lost in Fiore's world. Believe me, I wouldn't steer you wrong. Out of a 5, I'm giving this a 4.5 stars. Another winner for Fiore.

Loved! Teagan and Kane were just amazing! You are immediately drawn into this story from the very beginning due to the tragic circumstances that lead Teagan to Raven's Peak. Then you learn the story that brought Kane to Raven's Peak and there is no turning back for the love and support for these two characters. They develop this extraordinary bond that leads these two down the path of an unforgettable, perfect love. Upon graduating, Teagan leaves to go to college in Boston but Kane proposes to her on the way to the airport and plans to join her in 6 months.

Then L. A. Fiore rips my heart out!!! Teagan begins to her less and less from not only Kane, but the entire Raven's Peak family. Having had enough, she returns home to find Kane has moved out and on with another woman. Devastated, yes Teagan but me too, Teagan returns to Boston and tried to get on with her life, cutting ties from everyone to allow herself to heal.

When circumstances force her home some 10 years later, things are different and Teagan is trying to figure them all out..one devastating piece at a time. There is nothing to write without giving away spoilers but L.A. Fiore is an absolute master at writing books that will grab your heart, twist it until you think you are going to die on the characters behalf and then slowly, painfully, sweetly, magically puts the thud, thud, thud back into the heart with a HUGE does of awesomeness to boot!

This is my second L.A. Fiore book and I am beginning to question my own sanity for not reading or knowing about her before!!!

description

description
Teagan.

And L.A. Fiore blows my mind yet again!

This book totally grabbed me hard.   I could not put it down.

You want to read a story that sucks you in and takes you for an emotional rollercoaster?  Then this is a book to read!

Teagan & Kane's story is brought beautifully to us from when they start off as childhood friends  and later into their adult lives.  Tragedy, love, and devastation rock their worlds and it will rock your heart while reading.  I loved that this story had a mystery that had me guessing and wondering what was it till the last page.

The characters were beautifully written, well developed plots and I felt like I got a great understanding on how the characters all came together.   Nothing was left unanswered.  Thank goodness otherwise I would have been more of a mess!

Yes, this is a must read on your summer list!  No way is this story predictable.  Get your box of tissues ready and get ready for your heart to feel & your mind to be blown.

It's a 4.5 stars for me. Yes, this author's book was always outstanding, so is with this book, but I just can't put my always-5-stars-and-abobe for this book.
I don't know, the hero was not so me this time, and the heroine, always great character.

And I love how healthy their appetite for sweets. I think the author herself was a sweet tooth because she always put the character in all of her books like this. Sweet tooth.

But don't worry, this author have been my one-click now. My fave author! Yeah!

"Life happened, sometimes it sucked, sometimes you had to start again, and maybe you headed in a direction you never saw coming. The trick was to make it work regardless. I had."

I love a book that throws me for a loop, and boy did this one! Just when I thought the story was going one way...BAM...I was speechless!
It was an amazing twist that I never saw coming!

I love how we are taken through the years of Teagan and Kane's story. Starting when they first met at ages 11 and 9 as heartbroken children. Kane was the one person that helped Teagan through the loss of her parents. Their friendship was one you would dream of having as a child-filled with fun, pranks, laughter, and love.

"I'd never had a best friend, but I had one now. We understood each other, almost as if he were an extension of me and me of him."

I was so much in Swoonville with Kane. The way he would talk to Tea, and how he did anything and everything to make her happy.
Then IT happened.
He pushed her away.
I. About. Died!!

No spoilers here! You know they break up in the blurb, but WOW, it's devastating!!! I felt like I was Tea! Crazy as that sounds, but it's true. My poor heart was breaking with hers and I just wanted to ring his neck!

"Please, just tell me what happened to you. What happened to my Kane? I miss him everyday."
"Let it go, Teagan, please just let it go."

As the story progresses, you find out what happened all those years ago. It's sad, and my emotions were everywhere.
L.A. Fiore held nothing back with this one!

I went from loving Kane, to hating him, back to loving him to pieces. I wanted to hold both him and Teagan and get them through this whole thing.

"Telling the one person I wanted most that I didn't want her. It took everything in me not to grab you and never let go. But then reality returned, and I knew that tying you to me, to this life...you deserved better than that."

Not only was it a story about their relationship, but also the relationships between them and their friends. You fall in love with the three wonderful people that raised Kane and Teagan. They are amazing people! Also, you will find your own best friend in Simon! Love that man!

This story pulled every heartstring that I have!
I smiled throughout their childhood at the crazy pranks involving toads and worms (believe me, it's great!).
I swooned when they fell in love as teenagers.
I cried and cursed at the heartbreak they both endured.
Then I fell in love all over again with these two beautifully broken people.

"You said I needed to make the first move. I want to make the first move, Tea. I just don't know if I'll ever be the guy you deserve."
"You already are."

Again, I think this book was wonderful! Thank you, L.A. Fiore for giving us Kane and Tea! They are unbelievable characters that will forever stay in my heart.

I can't wait for everyone to read this story!!

"You made me promise once, remember? You made me promise I would never leave you. I meant it then and I mean it now. I'll never leave you. Now you need to make that promise to me."
"Never, Tea, You're my home."

Overall Rating: 4.5 Rockin’ ★★★★☆

Love is limitless, kind, unselfish and forgiving. In the novel A Glimpse of the Dream by author L.A. Fiore, we are given a glimpse of an unbreakable bond forged between two young children that grows into an incredible friendship and love that sustains them both through loss, tragedy and redemption. Kane and Teagan are soulmates and this is their life journey.

Kane Doyle and Teagan Harper's friendship started at young age and blossomed into a beautiful, priceless gift that neither one could imagine living without. When Teagan's parents are tragically killed in an automobile accident a close friend of the family adopts her and welcomes her to Raven's Point in Maine. The castle becomes her new home and a place of healing.

The characters created by this brilliant author come to life on every page and their emotions flow through you as you read. This was a surreal and beautiful novel. I was lost in the storyline and enjoyed every last moment reading this story. There were moments when I cried for the loss of their youth and the unbelievable potency of their love even when they were miles and years apart. This is truly a remarkably well written romance that Ms. Fiore shares with us. Angst, gut wrenching moments entwined with a limitless as well as timeless love are qualities of this must read book for romance junkies everywhere.

Escape into my Reads Book Blog

This book made me feel like I had stepped into the story with Teagan and Kane. The written words reached out to me and gripped onto my emotions making me feel that ache of longing in my chest. Teagan’s circumstances made me connect to her straight away and when she entered Raven’s Peak I could feel such sorrow and darkness emanating from the gothic building, that I felt it matched the pain and sadness Teagan was experiencing. Meeting Kane was like her life line, he was her happy. The bond of friendship he extended towards her as he became her protector and then her lover was so beautiful and heart-melting. As Teagan and Kane progressed in their relationship circumstances teared them apart. Left in the dark Teagan experienced a feeling of being abandoned again and had to learn how to survive without Kane. She was left hurt and angry wanting to know the truth behind his detachment and questioned what happened to the guy who once said he loved her. The angst L.A Fiore delivered mixed in with suspense, and Teagan’s search for the truth behind Kane’s betrayal kept me engaged to the story. I wanted answers for poor Teagan and I couldn’t have predicted the outcome so I loved the twists and turns and the ending. I loved Teagan and Kane they were both such strong and loveable characters. A Glimpse of the Dream is a beautiful heart wrenching read that gave me so many feels. The story was brilliantly executed with suspense, angst, romance, the feeling of overcoming suffering and misfortune and how love was always destined to be for Teagan and Kane.
