Shin and Heisuke find it easy enough to enter the JAA prison.
However Shin wants to locate a famed fortune teller who's resident on the third floor.
They face an ever increasing danger as they work their way down finding numerous threats.

So lit! I was a little worried about how this arc was gonna go after the first chapter or so, it seemed like it might be a little messy or meandering, but it got very fun quick! Was so hyped to see one of my boys back in the series after almost 20 volumes. Atari is fun and seems like she could become a great ally, with her abilities fitting the crazy and creative style of Sakamoto fights so well. It is really dope to see a Shin and Heisuke arc as well that is a great dynamic. My favorite part of this volume easily is Tenkyu though, a new favorite of mine and a character I can’t wait to see more of. I knew he was gonna be going crazy as soon as I saw him😭 how he was moving at the end there (not to mention right after his introduction) was so nuts I love it, this prison arc is looking like it is going to be breathing some awesome fresh characters into this story. The brief Sakamoto plot was excellent as well, definitely look forward to seeing how his training with Torres progresses

THIS PRISON ARC IS SO MUCH FUN. i love shin and heisuke just fucking around trying to get to the bottom to find my PINK HAIRED FOTUNE TELLING QUEEN. tenkyu is SUCH an interesting character and such a great person to have conflict with shin. SHIN THIS ARC FOR YOU BABY <3 <3 <3

Sakamoto Days gets something right about prison arcs most works of serialized fiction totally fail at. What generally happens in these segments of a story is:

— characters you want to see together are separated
— the imprisoned characters face a contrived difficulty they overcome in the same way, both internalizing some aspects of prison life while elevating one or two prisoners to heroic status
— the prison environment is visually uninteresting and the new characters in the prison are usually equally boring
— the plot slows down because of the separation

Why this example is so much better is it combines the training arc with prison arc, necessarily stalling the story for skill enhancement in a new environment. It also introduces interesting characters, a fascinating space, and benefits even further from the fact that the show generally separates its key characters anyway. This is just another variation on the usual Sakamoto Days plot structure and it works great.

Chapter 187: Tenkyu is fundamentally different from the rest of us.
What makes you say that? We all survived Al-Kamar together... We're friends aren't we?
One of the purposes of Al-Kamar was to create killing machines with no emotions. We were failures. He was a success.

Chapter 188: Well, the reason me and my buddy got in a fight was about whether or not to kill.

Another great volume! Shin and Heisuke went to the JAA prison so they can find the mysterious fortuneteller and get stronger in the process. Most of the book is dedicated to Shin and Heisuke's adventures. Tenkyo is introduced and I saw his name before so I knew he was with Uzuki. Meanwhile, Sakamoto is also trying to get stronger by fighting Torres over and over. After the training arc is over, there will be great fights. But I still don't know how anyone will beat Uzuki when he has Takamura's personality.

Shin and Heisuke make their way into the deep bowels of the JAA prison in search of the fabled fortune teller to help Shin improve his odds. They run into a hard boiled frenemy from their past, and eventually meet Tenkyu, one of Slur's associates. Is he a friend, or an enemy? Either way, he seems pretty badass and can take out pretty much anyone with a bow and arrow (or any other projectile that can fly). We get a brief moment with Sakamoto training as he fights and loses against Torres, so I'm interested to see where that goes.

A fun, fast-paced volume that is going by at lightning pace!

HOLY SHIT. so tenkyu is insane, now we just need gozu to show up and we’ll have met the whole orphanage gang. the fortune teller girl is cool, her character design is reminiscent of neon in hxh. wondering why shin’s esp didn’t work on tenkyu though, that could be an issue for later…also i really don’t want kei to die in the end. especially after he wouldn’t team up with tenkyu bc tenkyu wanted to kill taro’s wife and daughter. he is redeemable to me !

It's surprising how this series finds a way to continue to introduce such entertaining characters. This time we are introduced to the top psychic of the JAA and we also get a return of character we haven't seen in a long while. It had some intense action moments but the gore seemed to ramp up in this one. I didn't find it to be a disadvantage but some out there may. Still, this series is incredible and I can't wait for the next volume.

Honestamente, yo haría lo mismo que Shin, no lo juzgo. Si alguien viene y me dice que tuvo si quiera la decencia, de no solo pensar pero decir out loud de matar a Aoi y a Hana, yo tbn diría FUCK EVERYTHING y rompería la promesa de do not kill. ES MÁS LO HARÍA SUFRIR. Acércate un pelo a ellas y verás como te descuartizo a pedazos🤪🙈.

A great palate cleanser to reset your mind between the previous and next mental task. It is funny, but not ha-ha funny like Way of the Househusband, it is more subtle. The absolutely over-the-top fight scenes between a convenience store clerk and the hit-men sent to assassinate him are just that.

The action scenes and wide background shots are amazing artwork.

This was a lot of fun. I enjoyed Atari’s seemingly random faith and Tenkyu’s spontaneity. It’s funny seeing Heisuke being the one to talk sense into Shin this time.

Hard boiled also gaining inspiration from the younger generation to fight again but this time for his dignity was a nice touch.

The art direction is beautiful as always.
