Katana Collins is a USA Today bestselling author of over twenty novels, novellas, and comic books in a variety of genres. She is most known for her sensual contemporary romances and her wildly popular comic book— Batman White Knight Presents: Harley Quinn with DC Comics.

When she was younger and stole her mother’s Harlequins to read beneath the covers with a flashlight, she wanted to read about the tough as nails heroine. The perfectly imperfect girl with quirks and attitude and sass. And the anti-heroes who were anything but “Prince Charming.” Forget the knight on a white horse … she wanted the bad boy on a motorcycle.

An avid animal lover, she lives in Portland, Maine with her kind of mean cat, derpy lab-pitt mix, mellow chihuahua, and very not mellow cairn terrier puppy. Oh, yeah… there’s a husband somewhere in that mix, too.

She can usually be found in a coffee shop with her nose buried in a laptop wearing fabulous (albeit sometimes impractical) shoes.

She loves connecting with book lovers like herself, and fellow sassy storytellers, so feel free to drop her an email, visit her on her website. She also loves connecting on Instagram, Facebook or in her reader group, Kat’s Kittens!

Murder, mystery, deception, lies, hidden truths in plain sight, and old loves coming back to haunt you. Forensic photographer and sister of the deceased, Jessica must take an unexpected journey into the darker side of sex to find out what happened to her sister.

Twists and turns abound as slowly evidence surfaces. It’s completely unclear who she can trust. Alone in her sister’s home, Jessica keeps finding confusing and contradicting information about the sister that she thought she knew. With the added mind muddling feelings she has toward the police Detective ( and her childhood love)

Sam McCloskey, deductive reasoning and inference may uncover the truth or will seduction be the key?

It’s a great read and for those of you that have read the prequel, Wicked Shots, it certainly answers a lot of questions. It’s smart, a bit funny, and definitely sexy with loads of intrigue.

This is a book that pulled me in by the blurb. The cover looked good too.

Again, I am very late coming to the table with this one as I allowed it to slip down my mountain of reads. I am trying to play catchup [as if that will ever happen]

I can only give it 3 stars for my taste.

My confusion isn't just because I hadn't read book I [I don't think] it just seems a little too far over to 'unbelievable'

If you are want to catch you sisters killer you live her life?
You take on the erotic lifestyle she had and actually live it? to unravel why?

We have BDSM, we have fetish we have an entire mix of not only sex and sex acts, we have some really unrealistic expectations that a reader has to accept.

I am unable to accept it.

I have nothing against the erotic behaviour etc but how its portrayed to unravel a crime.

I thank Kensington Books via Net Galley for my copy but I won't be reading book 3 by personal choice and remember, not everybodies read is the same so you may like it.

WICKED EXPOSURE has suspense with enough twists and turns to keep me engaged throughout the story but somehow I felt that I missed something once I got to the end. There is a huge and unexpected cliffhanger at the end that felt extremely abrupt. As I got closer to the end I saw the writing on the wall and knew that I wouldn't get a conclusion but I wasn't expecting for it to end as abruptly as it did. The ending was really jarring. There were also a few problems with the overall story for me. There were things mentioned but not fully delved into, characters that seemed to be important but not fully developed enough for my taste. I'm not quite sure who will end up being more important to Jess; Sam or Dane. Overall a good read just one that I did not get a conclusion to.

**I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.**

I read this book in march and im still over her so confused about this book

that cliff hanger? ... is the book over? ...is there a part two...what is even going on!!!

I requested the book from netgalley of course via title alone then I read the blurb then I read the book im pretty sure none of the three are even related.

The book read like a game of trust and clue put together
 photo http3A2F2F38.media.tumblr.com2F32bd32dae8467b27acc97e9fbceaeea52Ftumblr_mwh5sywDOe1qjj4npo2_500_zps6hqsfcig.gif

but it has a cliffhanger ending but its not a series? Nothing was solved! I played the should I DNF game a few times in this book its only 350 pages but it had such boring dry areas it felt like it was 1000 pages long. I think the book should just be about those cocktail parties that would draw a huge crowd because those scenes were detailed perfectly.

If the author wanted to write a book that left everyone confused and filled with questions she succeeded… but that blurb needs to go might as well change the title too

Wicked Exposure by Katana Collins is an intriguing mystery that also has a BDSM element. This second installment in the Wicked Exposure series picks up with Jessica Walters discovering there is much more to her sister Cassandra's life and death than she could possibly have imagined.

Jessica is a forensic photographer who returns to her hometown of Portland, ME after Cass's murder. Told her sister's death was a robbery gone wrong, Jessica quickly uncovers startling evidence that Cass was most likely mixed up in something illegal. Even more shocking is the realization that her straight-laced sister was actively involved in the BDSM lifestyle as well. In order to learn the truth about Cass's death, Jessica takes a job with the local police department where she becomes reacquainted with old childhood friend, Sam McCloskey, the lead detective on her sister's case. It quickly becomes obvious there is a connection between Cass's illicit activities and her involvement in the BDSM community and Jess is willing to do whatever it takes to solve her sister's murder.

Jess is a likable, but somewhat clueless, heroine. She and her sister have not been close for years so it really is not too surprising that she knows little about Cass's personal or professional life. Jess immediately stumbles across incriminating evidence and since she does not know who to trust, she keeps this information to herself. Despite the unresolved history between her and Sam, Jess is still intensely attracted to him, but she does not completely trust him, so she keeps quiet about what she has learned about Cass.

Jess is equally distrusting of Cass's close friend Dane. However, once she discovers he is directly linked to Cass's involvement in BDSM, she overlooks her mistrust in hopes of uncovering a lead that will shed light on Cass's death. But it soon becomes clear that the different areas of Cass's life are connected but each new clue provides more questions than answers.

Interspersed with the investigation is some sexy (and edgy) hotness between Jess and Sam. Although they have not seen each other since their high school graduation, Jess and Sam share a scorching hot attraction to another. Sam is also involved in BDSM and Jess is only too happy to explore her submissive side with him. But how far is she willing to go with a man she does not completely trust?

Wicked Exposure is a fast paced and exciting mystery that is full of unexpected twists and turns. Katana Collins brings the story to a shocking conclusion that will leave readers impatiently awaiting the next installment in the Wicked Exposure series.

WARNING: This book has a cliffhanger! I did not know this going in and did not enjoy it when I was left hanging…just saying.

That aside, the story was all build up with some intrigue and mystery especially regarding Jessica and whom she can trust! There are three men introduced in this book, her former lover, her sister’s “friend” and then what appears to be her sister’s “D/dom”. As the reader is set up to like Sam, the local police officer/former lover/hawt Dom…it is Jessica’s journey that takes center stage. Her quest to find out what really happened to her sister, if a string of local deaths/murders are linked to her sister and her introduction into a new world of lust and power. The writing is very good and Jessica’s voice rings very true! I personally love Sam and I hope these two kids work it out…and come out of it alive! Enjoy!

Jessica Walters has come from Brooklyn, New York where she is a forensic photographer to Portland, Maine to find out more about her sister, Cassandra's murder. It isn't long before she runs into her old flame from high school, Sam, who is the police detective handling her sister's case. She's never forgiven Sam for leaving her when she needed him most after her parents were killed by a drunk driver, but it's when Jessie meets Dane that she starts to discover that her sister was leading a life that she'd kept hidden from her. Dane informs her that Cass had been holding fetish parties in her house every other week. Jessie can't believe that her conservative, prudish sister would be involved in something like that, but the more she investigates, the more she realizes that she didn't really know her sister at all.
Wicked Exposure is full of lies, secrets, and hidden agendas - all of which make the story suspenseful. The addition of the BDSM lifestyle that Sam, Dane, and Cass are involved in adds another layer of tension to a story that is full of enough clues and red herrings to make it well worth the read. Since the story ends with a cliffhanger, I'm looking forward to reading the sequel.

I liked some of the scenes with Sam and Jess (although he was a big asshole at the beginning), but the plot was kind of a mess. I will read the next one to find out what happens though.

This was a deliciously, fast paced who-dun-it. The book starts with a stalker clicking pictures of Jess, who turns out to be the heroine of the story. OMG.

Then her first night in her sister’s house, she is sure she has an intruder, but the police don’t find anything, so of course they believe it is her distress over her sister’s recent murder.

Yep, I said murder. This definitely fit into the suspense/thriller category. But wait there is more. Kink! BDSM! Fetish parties! Oh my. This story had a smattering of about everything, up to and including a cliffhanger. I will get back to that in a moment.

The heroine, Jessica – a forensic photographer for the NYPD. She actually got a photo, though blurry of that intruder, but still wasn’t believed. On the one hand Jess appeared strong, self-confident, and good at her job. On the other hand, she didn’t always stand up for herself – like when the cops were poo-wooing her assertion someone had been in her house, with photographic backup. She seemed to be able to read whether someone was lying to her, but she wanted so much to trust someone. One minute I felt sorry for her, the next I wanted to bop her up-side the head.

Hero (?) number one. Sam. A detective on the Portland, Maine police department. Jess’s best friend when they were kids, but “abandoned” her when her parents were killed. Has been harboring some sort of secret ever since, but still can’t seem to keep his hands off of Jessica.

Claims to be a Dom. However, the doms in this story have an entirely different definition of safe, sane, and consensual than any of the other doms I have read about. Actually, I didn’t’ find that safe, sane, and consensual figured in this at all. Okay, I could almost understand it at eighteen, but ten years later and also claiming master status – not so much. In his interactions with Jess, there was no discussion of desires, limits, etc. Just action. One time he asked for a safe word, but that was the only discussion about the lifestyle they ever had. It rather turned me off to his alleged master dom status and had me understanding Jess’ mixed feeling about it all.

Jess actually learned more about the lifestyle from Hero (?) number two, Dane. Dane says he helped Jess’ sister Cass fix up the house. Has a key and everything. But there is something not quite right with him. He is a handyman who wears Armani underwear and gives gifts of Vera Wang gowns. He had a thing for Cass but it was never consummated. Now he shows an interest in Jess. Just how does he fit in? I have some vague ideas, but it could still go either way.

There are a few other characters in this cast, some I believe are suspects. But suspects in what exactly, that is the $64,000 question. Jess keeps finding things out about her sister that just does not fit what she thought she knew.

Yep! A bit of everything. Things were moving pretty fast and furious. Another murder. Suspects all over the place. Clues leading in different directions. It was quite exciting and I was glued to my reading, flipping pages as fast as I could, waiting for the big break in the case when . . . author bio. No forewarning. No suggestion in the blurb that this may be a series, let alone a serial.

Speaking of blurb, it was kind of misleading all the way around except for Jess being devastated by her sister’s death. Local PD does not ask her to take pictures – she kind of forces her way in. The pictures she takes have nothing to do with her sister’s death. She mostly just stumbles across various clues and such. The sexy detective – I did mention childhood best friend. Jessica doesn’t yet know she is a pawn in anything, let alone betrayal and revenge. Blurb – total fiction, even relating to this story.

Since this was a new to me author, I looked her up to see what I could find. Found there was a prequel featuring Cass. (By the way, it is free so I grabbed it to read Cass’s story prior to her murder. Maybe there are some more clues in it.) But other than finding Wicked Shots, there is not a mention of serial, or series, on the sale sites. A quick perusal of the author’s web site does show a mention of “series.” But really, who checks out a new to you author’s web site when choosing a book? And, this is clearly a serial, not a series.

Other than not ending, I found this a decent, fast moving, suspense thriller. Any fan of the genre would probably enjoy it. But not being told that there would be no conclusion, or that one would have to tune into another book, who knows when, well . . . read at your own risk.

I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews
I knew already from Katana’s Soul series that I enjoy her writing style but this one isn’t paranormal, so wondered if I’d like it as much as I do her fantasy books. I did, that's the short answer, its got everything I like in it. A good story, great characters, suspense that's not too overcomplicated but still makes me struggle to work out who could be behind things, and of course some very sensual and spicy scenes. I got sucked into this read very quickly. Yes there were some things I had issues with, such as how Jessica lets so much go without questioning, and esp the party stuff....but for me the best way was to shut down that line of critical thinking and just enjoy the story. I may not have liked Jessica being so accepting but it let the novel progress into areas it needed to go.
I like the way bits unfold carefully, the way there are parts and people that seem to fit the growing mystery,  and then something comes up to make me doubt them. The steam between Sam and Jessica – and the scenes – are scorching and very sensual and worked perfectly given their background. I enjoyed too that its a rocky road for them and not just pick up where they left off all those years before. Dane – he’s a mysterious character and I want to know more about him, he’s very enigmatic and I’m sure he knows much more than he’s saying but whether he’s actually behind things who knows...I can’t quiet see it but then?
The dangers start stacking up quickly and the body count grows. Just when I think I’ve worked out one possible angle it all changes. Add in the romance that’s on, off and then on again and its for me the perfect mix of sensual romance and addictive mystery. The only downside is my pet hate, cliff-hanger ending
Stars: five, a great read and I so wish the next part was ready now – I hate waiting, especially when it ends like this.

Review:

aaaaaaahhhhhhhhh! Well, crap! I guess I should have read the description a little better, but I didn't. So I am reading and reading, and thinking "boy I am at 92% and the story better be wrapping up soon", well nope. This is has a cliff-hanger ending and then I look up the date for the next book and it is not until October, double crap! I want to know what happens.

Other than the cliff-hanger, I really got into the story. They mystery and suspense is great and I am still trying to guess who is really behind Cass's death. I have not read this Author before and definitely plan to go read more by her, especially the next book in this series, but not until October ;( . This is not just a mystery, we also get some super sexiness. Because of Jessica's submissive nature and her first love Sam is a Dom and their rekindling of their love for each other. And as Jessica tries to find the cause of her sister's death it leads her to find out that her sister was hosting BDSM parties in her house and was herself a submissive. I have read some of the other reviews and I can see where the blurb of this story is a little misleading, but for me I actually like the story more than the impression of what the story was going to be from the blurb.

I loved this blend of romance and mystery and will be sitting waiting patiently for the next book.

Wicked Exposure by Katana Collins is one of those books that I’m finding it hard to review. It is clearly promoted as part of a series so a cliffhanger is too be expected. Having read Wicked Shots, (it was free at the time of this review) which covers the last few events in Cass’s life, I had a clearer idea as to why she was murdered. I had hoped to figure out who is the killer. Nope, it didn’t happen. In fact there are just as many suspects at the end of Wicked Exposure as there were at the beginning.

Still the fast paced plot is riveting. While an absorbing tale, it is also disturbing. I’m as uncomfortable as Jessica about certain directions this story takes her. On top of those aspects, Jessica must come to terms not only with her sister’s death but also her parents’ death that took place when she was a teenager. I found past and present coming together, even overlapping at times. This sophisticated style may not be for everybody, but I like the complexity within it.

The author also does a stunning job of setting the lonely tone of the Jessica’s life. Even when Jessica reconnects with Sam, it is fleeting. Totally scorching but also filled with ambiguity. This can be said for almost everything that happens in the book. Coupled with the uncertainty of events and characters the story left me with an unclear and vague feeling as to what Jessica should do about Sam or the killer. I’m still as much in the dark as she is even though Wicked Shots gave me insight to her sister’s last moments.

So I guess the true question for this review is – Did the author enticed me enough to care about Jessica and her search for justice in her sister’s death? Absolutely, I want to know how this plays out.

3.5 stars so rounding up to 4

let me start by saying that there is a cliffhanger...i'm hoping. the ending kinda just happens. i did not read book 1. there are a lot of characters in this book and all of them are pretty confusing, even jessica who is the most 'face value' character there. i don't trust anyone at all, none of the mystery is solved and my list of questions at this point is endless. the book honestly felt a little like a 'circle jerk' that i'm hoping will be cleared up in the next book.

it will be hard to give a full review and not give any spoilers but i will try.

jessica is the least confusing of all the characters but still a bit of a mystery. she and her sister appear to be polar opposites but the more she uncovers about her sister and discovers about herself the more she finds they may have in common. she's pretty fearless and a mostly strong character. she waffles a bit on her feelings for her love interest (there's a history there) but for the most part, she's pretty straightforward and strong.

sam is the local detective secretly working on her sister's case. it is bigger than everyone involved really knows and jess & sam work together at times to unravel the mystery. at this point, i'm not sure whether or not i trust sam. i got mixed vibes from him throughout the story.

the supporting cast is all still a complete mystery to me and i'm not sure who is trustworthy and who isn't. i'm anxious to read book 3 to see if this is all wrapped up.

the writing is decent, but the transitions between scenes and character switches are very rough and confusing at times.

This book is by Katana Collins and follows on from Wicked Shots the prequel to this book. It is part of a series so be aware not all issues are solved in this book. It's full of mystery and suspense along with some scorching sex!!
Jessica Walters, a forensic photographer, returns to her old hometown after her older sister, Cassandra is found dead. Whilst sorting through Cass' belongings she discovers that there may have been a whole different side to her sister she wasn't aware of and one she intends to discover more about: even though it might lead her to questions she may rather not know the answer to....

Whilst doing her own investigations a man called Dane, who she's never known before, introduces himself as one of Cassandra’s best friends. Jess has a feeling that he's not all that he appears but liaising and playing along with him may be the one lead in Jess in figuring out the truth behind Cass' sudden death and those motivations are what keeps her going.

One person who is aware of Dane is detective Sam McCloskey. He and Jess were once close until he left her when she needed him the most. Now the two are brought back together through their work and history with Cass. Can Sam and Jess keep this case professional and settle old issues or will personal feelings mean more bodies are found before and the stakes get higher all round??

I found "Wicked Exposure" to be just that - Wicked! Ms. Collins has done a wonderful job of including mystery and intrigue with twists and turns that keeps the reader guessing and turning the page to see if the answer is there. The story focuses mostly on Jess as she searches for her sister's killer. As we get to know Jess, we see she is really lonely and doesn't trust very easily. Her journey through this story leads to new and unfamiliar territory and, I found I was just as intrigued to take this journey with her. We meet Sam, a detective and former romantic interest of Jess. Boy, do they sizzle together - I hope to see more of them in the future. With "Wicked Exposure", Ms. Collins has written a gripping story that is fast and interesting and grabs the reader and doesn't let go! Since this is part of a series, there is a cliffhanger and, to be honest, I was a bit frustrated, even knowing at the start that answers probably wouldn't be found within this book. I got so hooked in the story, I need to know!! (received copy from NetGalley for honest review)

Wicked Exposure is an interesting read with murder, mystery, intrigue and lust. To be honest there is so much going on in this book that there were points where I got a bit confused, but it was worth persevering with. The main characters had depth to them and were well drawn. I enjoyed this book - I just hope there is a sequel out soon as it ended on a cliffhanger.

Forensic photographer Jessica was devastated when her sister was murdered. When she goes to stay at her sister's house she begins to discover things that leave her wondering if she really knew who her sister was. She shares her discoveries with local detective Sam, who she has history with. A web of lies and betrayals unravel and our girl is in danger.

This is a good read, with a complex storyline, likable main characters and plenty of heat. Four out of five stars.

This book was OKAY. My biggest issue was that the blurb did not really match what actually was going on. I mean where were these mysterious photos that keyed her into her sisters lifestyle. Nonexistent. Jess was likable and so was Sam, but their love seemed rushed. There were also too many characters without any character development. It felt like I was reading Clue or something. The ending also felt like it came out of of nowhere and forces the reader to read the next installment. It's not a true book, more like an episode.

I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review. There is no romance here, just sex. If you're into that kind of thing. Like I am. ;-) Jess loses the last of her family, her older sister, Cass. Not only does she inherits her house, she finds there is more to her plain Jane sister than she led on. Drug Ring, fake passports, BDSM masquerade parties and a hot Dom called Private Dick, what?!?. I kid you not. I've enjoyed this story, it's suspenseful but leaves more questions than answers. Book ends with a cliffhanger, btw.

A suspenseful murder mystery with plenty of intrigue. Jessica is a forensic photographer and rushes back home when she learns her sister has been murdered. She is even more shocked to learn of her sister’s secret life when she takes a job with the local police department to help investigate. Sam is a detective on the case and the attraction between them is intense. As she gets closer and closer to the truth her life is more in danger. A sexy suspenseful roller coaster ride, I couldn’t put down and am looking forward to more!

This is one of those time when I hate that i received an ARC. I'm going to keep this short, I couldn't connect to the characters and in the end it's a DNF. Chopping this up to a learning experience. I didn't enjoy the prequel, wanted to give it a chance since the storyline seemed promising, but the follow through is laking.
