Were-lynx Kennedy’s world implodes when she’s sent to a facility for illegal and torturous experimentation. Only after she’s rescued does she learn she’s been living a lie for 22 years. She can count on nothing from her past—not her parents, her surname, or her safety. Only the brother she didn’t know and his colony of were-lynxes offer any semblance of stability. Suspicious of everyone and unsure of her path forward, Kennedy reluctantly starts to realize that charming were-bobcat Asher Monroe might be her only hope.

Sportswriter Asher has been trying desperately to ferret out the truth behind why the sinister Nexus Group has been kidnapping and experimenting on were-cats. But he’s also willing to use his special mind-controlling ability to discover whether the gorgeous Kennedy is a threat to the colony or simply a lost soul.

As their need for the truth takes them into escalating danger, they discover explosive secrets that could bring Kennedy and Asher together — or rip them apart forever.

I’ve been a reader and a writer all my life. My background is in journalism, but whether writing a magazine or newspaper story or creating a romance, I love the power stories hold to transport, inspire, and uplift.

In my romances, I focus on vulnerable, embraceable characters who don’t back down. I hope that readers discover, over and over, stories of ordinary people who face ordinary life challenges and are transformed by extraordinary love

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Cravings, by Lynn Crandall, is book 2 in the Fierce Hearts series. It is the story of Kennedy, a were-lynx, who was found at a research facility that her adoptive parents placed her in. She ends up in the care of a colony of were-lynxes run by her brother. This book is about how she learns to cope with what her parents did, the fact that they weren't really her parents, and how to find where she truly belongs. She meets Asher, another were lynx in the colony, and the two begin a relationship. Coming into this without having read book 1 made me feel as if I missed a lot. I had a hard time connecting with the action and the characters who seemed to have so much back story in book 1. I was kind of lost for most of the book, but things started to come together towards the end. There was a lot of action, which I enjoyed. I was excited about the idea of this being an interracial romance, but I never really got the impression of the interracial aspect of it. Specifically, I had to keep reminding myself that Kennedy was black. I also really like books about shifters. This book handled that aspect well. I enjoyed the idea of these people living as both animals and humans. I liked the special abilities each were lynx had that benefited the colony. For me, cons would include the dialogue. It didn't always flow for me. But overall, an interesting, fast paced story with plenty of action and romance.

This novel picks up right where the previous story in the series left off and takes readers deep inside the world of the were-lynxes. It is action paced and suspenseful at times, wildly romantic at others. Crandall does a fantastic job of drawing readers into her story & giving them a world to loose themselves in. The novel is well written & edited, the polished finish making it infinitely more enjoyable for the reader.

The world that Crandall creates is well rounded and developed on all fronts. As a reader, you really get a sense of what it means to be part of this colony. I love how she states the abilities of the various shifters and how they correlate to what they’re doing, be it in their everyday lives or on a special mission. The fact that each shifter has a special ability and that no two are the same makes things even more entertaining and unique. Each character really stands out. I like how there are different kinds of were-cats all together, but how Crandall shows they’re linked species.

The main characters definitely increase the emotional impact of this story. Both had difficult childhoods and times as an adolescent, but in vastly different ways. Asher’s internal conflicting versus his external persona let you understand him on many levels. Kendall’s skewed sense of self-worth really makes you feel for her. I found myself with my heart on my sleeve throughout, with my fingers crossed for these two.

Since it doesn’t seem to be listed as such on many websites, I will warn readers that this is the 2nd book in a series that really should be read in order, but that is definitely well worth reading for those who enjoy shifters. I absolutely love it!

Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

Review is also posted on Let’s Say It’s A Blog

So, my only reason to read this book was because it was said the genre was paranormal-romance (see the bold? Yes, that’s pretty much explained everything…). I thought this gonna be the same old paranormal-themed story but Cravings brought new creature to the story called were-animals. Cravings was my first book of Ms. Crandall so as usual I made no expectations and focus only on my first anticipation of every newfound author: writing style. I found this as an enjoyable read (I finished this in one sitting!) with a cute couple under a very good writing style!

For the past 22 years of her life, Kennedy only knew that the only family she had was mother and father who loved to control her every move. She only knew that every single gesture of affections should be paid with pain and torture. She was the only were-lynx, that’s why she needed to be trained in a special program day and night unlike other normal people. She was shaped to please people around her and ignore her own wanting. She was impressed that she was an object, thus, she had no right to do things as she wanted; she’s told to do things as people wanted of her. She was told there was no need to socialize with people. Until one night when a group of were-lynxes colony rescued her from the cage she was in on one of drug research project of William Carter Enterprises. Being away from the awful parents and rough life she had before, Kennedy should be grateful for her rescuers. Only, she couldn’t help but feeling wary of these new people ―thanks to her parents’ constant lying. The colony understood her need of space to process the abrupt change of Kennedy’s life but one of the members, Asher Monroe, seemed not shared the same idea.
As the most cautious member of the colony, Asher felt the need to stick with Kennedy everywhere. Yes, it was obvious Kennedy was the victim that night but Asher did not want to just innocently trusting the newcomer. Who knows later he found something different in Kennedy. Something he could not exactly pinpoint but it certainly made his guard for this girl wavered. The more days they spent together, the more they could not deny the craving they felt to the other’s presence. Both Kennedy and Asher should know better than completely broke their wall of guards to each other. When they finally let it down for once, that’s when they discovered the actual issue that stood between them. And it was surely far worse than the trust issue that’s been haunting them.

Truthfully, my mind was at daze on the first several chapters. I started reading this book without any clear preamble of what I was going to get myself into. And suddenly I was hit by lots of unique terms in the beginning and I had to suffer for a while trying to get my mind on track with the plot. Fortunately, Ms. Crandall built the plot very well so once I got myself familiarized with all those unique terms and when the character Asher was introduced; I started to get a grip of the story. I truthfully thought that Ms. Crandall had built the background story of William Carter’s project up very well but just simply put the explanation in long narrations instead of showing them in actual scenes which I thought would make the story even richer and more engaging to readers who seeking for more than just a romance story (obviously not me, anyway).
I found Asher here had quite a charm that made me drawn to him. He was actually a bit shy at showing his feeling at first but at the same time he had no idea how to deny what he felt when he interested in something or someone. His protectiveness to his colony showed that Asher had a high level of loyalty to those who he loved. And I also loved it that Asher was not that kind of hero who went around flaunting his ability as he wanted but he actually was willing to restrain from using it to control when needed to.
As for Kennedy, I am in this love/hate relationship with her. I saw Kennedy as this lovely girl with an I-love-you-and-I-want-to-save-you-with-my-weakness-and-reckless-moves attitude. I kind of sympathize to her at first for being insecure, confuse, and lonely after going through such a nightmare kind of life. And she being attracted to Asher was something so natural it was so cute and I just wished that she could start to let her guards down for him. But then she kind of ruined it by showing these reckless acts in the name of saving-her-beloved-ones. Yes, it should’ve been seen as sweet act despite the melodramatic vibes but I saw it more as reckless acts that’s done without clear thinking first. No offense, but I really don’t put much interest in this type of heroine.
I loved it when Asher finally brought out the best in Kennedy. How he lifted her spirit, made her see the value inside herself, and erased the insecure feelings and doubts within her heart at the same time she erased his. They really suited each other with both their perfectness and flaws. I loved how Ms. Crandall opted for step by step progress of relationship between Asher and Kennedy. How they started as friends at first with these haunting little doubts occasionally slipping on their sleeves, then they slowly built care towards each other, and the magic words finally said after going through so many things together. It was natural. It was sweet. It was cute. This was exactly how I loved a relationship to build up!
Oh, and I liked the side characters here! Casey, for example, had a characteristic of real leader in the colony. At seeing how the members of the colony interacted, I wondered if they might have their own stories...
I loved the simple yet sweet ending (yes, our HEA buddy is present here…) even though I do not know for sure if this story is going to continue in another book or what because I sensed that there was part that was left unfinished here. But really, I enjoyed reading this book and would like to recommend this to people with a craving of paranormal romance :)

I read the book because it was in the series. I also read it to make sure I did not miss any information for moving forward in the other books of the series.
Upon being introduced to Kennedy I felt her pain and confusion. I could understand her feeling out of place. Not connected or no connections. She had to find out who and what she was and disregard what her life was for the last 22 years.

Kennedy for me was like a wild card. I was not sure what to expect from her. Where she was going or what she would do. She was lost in a world she should have felt safe in and maybe welcomed and loved.

Asher was were that would do what it took to make his pack safe. If that required him using his gift. Then so be it. If that required he use that gift of the new found sister of the pack lead then so be it again.

I liked their story but felt that focus was lost a few times. It was the banter, some descriptives, and the feel that Kennedy was someone else.

Kennedy was taken at birth, mind controlled and taught the arts of a warrior, but not what her were-lynx part was. At the start of this story, she had already been rescued from a research facility cage by a group of were-cats and is now with them. She is fighting the effects of years of restricted directives and only starting to learn what it is to have options available to her and a friendly hug. The characters are vibrant, with intense emotions, feelings, and special abilities. The suspense of the impending control freaks finding her and harming the were colony is foremost. Happiness at finding true family and a new love, feelings she never had before or even dreamed of. The ending is great, except for the fear of the bad guys starting up again.

I'm a dog person myself.

But loved the concept of this book, I just may become a lynx cat lover. Romance concept is great, self preservation is at it's best. Starts, off slow but hang there, you will have emotions from laughing to right out crying. A worthwhile read.

OMG LYNN CRANDALL HAS DONE IT AGAIN EXCEPT THIS BETTER THAN EVER BELIEVED!! I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest opinion of “CRAVINGS”. This is Mismousey’s very honest opinion of her book.

Ms Crandall has a very unique writing style that is all her own. She has taken fantasy and mixed a bit of reality into. By that I mean, one day in the future -who knows we might actually see these things come true. At the moment though it is EXCELLENT PARANORMAL !!! You the reader – are shown incredible things . ideas and happenings. You are kept on the edge of your seat with nail biting scenes. You never know what to expect to next. Or what is coming next. The cover of the book, the blurb, the plot of the book, and her amazing story are so well done. It invites the reader – rather it demands the readers attention to the book. YOU ARE FINDING YOURSELF CRAVING THE BOOK!!

This is the second book in the series. The first one was SECRETS, now we have CRAVING. The next book will be HEARTFELT, which is the book Ms Crandall is currently working on.

Cravings takes off – right where Secrets left off. Kennedy was just rescued by Cassidy and his friends – the were-cats. She has been living and growing up at the Nexus Group. As there property- they have been using her as a test subject. The Nexus Group has been kidnapping (rather catnapping cats) and testing them . Using them as test subjects. So Cassidy and his group went to release them and that when they found Kennedy. He also realized she was his lost sister.

Now at Lara’s house they are waiting for the DNA’s results to come back.Kennedy is overwhelmed with everyone. She thinks that they are trying to control her just like her parents did. She needs to shimmer. She go out her window when Asher finds her. as they are coming back to the house a group of men from Nexus Group try to kidnap her again, Bad move, as now they have Asher on high alert along with the rest of the group.

This book has so many twist and turns in it, It offers so much to reader/ There is more to this amazing story. All I will say is that both Asher and Kennedy both are Craving something 2 of what they are craving are LOVE AND ACCEPTANCE.

so my question to you is Do they find what they are Craving for?

I recommend this book to everyone 0 especially to those that love a were-terrific-fantastic- unbelievable outstanding – very creative book. Mismousey gives this book a very firm rating of 50 out of 5 stars.

so….WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR SHIMMER YOURSELF ON OVER AND GET YOUR COPY TODAY!!! UPI KNOW YOUR CTAVING FOR IT!!!.

***I was gifted this ARC for an honest review***
Kennedy has just had her life turned inside out. Everything she has ever known has been a lie. The people she thought were her parents are fakes, and she just found out she may have a brother. The Colony, the group that saved that saved her from danger, has decided to take her in. With all she's been through, Kennedy is not sure who she can trust, and the members of the group are not sure she can be trusted. Asher, a member of the Colony, has decided that he'll keep and eye on Kennedy. The more time the two of them spend together, the more they realize that they are attracted to each other but neither wants to acknowledge the connection.
This is the second book in the Fierce Hearts series and I recommend that you read them in order. Because I haven't read the first book yet I had a hard time trying to figure out what was going on. With that being said, once I got into the story I enjoyed Kennedy and Asher's story. For me it was a little slow moving, but I enjoyed them getting to know each other. There was a lot of other things going on around them that affected how they dealt with each other making them seem a little detached from each other. Kennedy was also finally getting to know herself after being free of all who wanted to control her, and making sure that her captors were never able to hurt her again. Now that I have read book 2, I plan to go back and read book to see how it all began.

ADVANCED COPY PROVIDED BY AUTHOR

Author Lynn Crandall allows us to slink into her were-lynx world once again in the second installment of her Fierce Hearts paranormal series.

On the pages of “Cravings,” Ms. Crandall gives us characters that exist in two worlds – our world and their lynx colony, with traits so believable, readers will find themselves looking at their neighbors, the mailman, or their best friend and waiting for them to shimmer into a were-lynx. No need to fear, though, these folks with their highly honed capabilities to heal, see through solid objects, memorize data with one look or nudge into the brain for a sense of calm would make some of the best friends.

The story introduces us to Asher Monroe, a local sportswriter who should sit in the investigative section of the newsroom, and Kennedy Novak, the much-maligned were-lynx raised to be an experiment designed to create a killer species. Asher, also a were-lynx, sees through her detached demeanor to the lost soul longing to belong. Others in the were-lynx colony aren’t as certain.

Desire and danger mix and take the colony and the reader on an exciting ride to rescue.

Undoubtedly, Ms. Crandall was a cat in another life. She most certainly is the leader of her wonderful were-lynx world.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Cravings is Book Two in the Fierce Hearts series and although the author has written each book as a standalone I’m really glad I decided to read Secrets first as I personally believe I had a better understanding of the storyline and characters.

I am a huge Paranormal Romance fan and this book did not disappoint as it had all the elements I love, shifters, romance, suspense and a bit of a thriller at times.

We start Book Two as Kennedy tries to come to grips with the fact that the reality that she’s always known has in fact been a lie and as a reader we watch as she uncovers the truth about herself, her family and all the ramifications this entails with the danger of the Nexus Group still imminent.

I enjoyed the love story between Kennedy and Asher, who is dealing with his own family related issues, both are scared of their feelings and there is a bit of mistrust on both sides.

I also felt the author had a message in her story about how we as humans treat each other and animals now and how those decisions impact on our environment.

The only reason I didn’t give this book five stars was the euphemisms used in the love scenes, but again this is my personal opinion & not everyone will agree with me.

If you love PNR I’m sure you’d enjoy this thought provoking tale.

Cravings had the elements in a book that I really love!! It had the paranormal aspect of having were-animals and it had plenty romance with not so perfect characters. Kennedy has had a rough life growing up with some awful people posing as her parents. She has been beaten and abused into submission for no reason. On the other hand, her love interest, Asher, has a hard time forgiving himself for misusing his ability to hurt one of his family. Kennedy and Asher come together to make a beautiful love story with a message of forgiveness of oneself and trusting in others. I really like how all the characters come together in much of the book to defend not only themselves but for the ones they care about. It teaches you to fight back even against great adversity. I recommend this book for all New Adults to read!! It does have a couple of graphic scenes so be warned. I also can't wait to read more from this author!!!

*****This book was given to me free in return for a honest review******
This is the second book in the series. This book is about Asher and Kennedy. Kennedy was rescued from a research facility. She is a were- lynx. It was an okay read. It is typical in that the shifters there are being used as research animals to see what makes them tick. Or being used to create some type of super solider. Kennedy was stolen from her biological parents at birth, they were told she'd died. Instead she was being groomed to help some radical nut cases take over the world. She'd been taught to obey the commands of her fake parents without question. She was taught to fight, never given any love without pain. So when Asher another were Lynx shows interest in her she is not sure how to take it. No one has ever shown her kindness without a reason or a punch following it. She is having difficulty believing people can be nice to her without pain or an alterior motive.

The story picks up from a previous book, and since I hadn't read it, I was a little lost for a while. There are many characters and it took a while to get everything straight. I liked the story, though. Kennedy's adoptive parents sent her to facility to be experimented on. She is rescued and finds out she has a brother and he takes her in and introduces her to his colony of cat shifters. She had never realized there were other were-lynxes until she was sent to be experimented on. She gets to know Asher, but they both have issues that makes a relationship difficult. I thought she trusted him pretty quickly, though, given her past. It is sweet with some suspense mixed in and if you like shifters this is a nice quick fix.

Spoiler alert!

Despite not having read the rest of the series, "Cravings" was written very well that I was able to catch up to speed pretty quickly. I found it to be an interesting read, as I haven't read much of that particular genre before. However, I found there to be quite a lot of background information that wasn't necessary to understanding the story so I skimmed over those parts. Also, I couldn't understand why Kennedy went back to the Novaks twice. One minute, she was working at the vet's office and the next, she was running off to them and the colony had to save her. Then, a few days later, she does it again and the colony has to save her, making it a total of three saves. It was very frustrating to me. Overall, an interesting read though even if it's not one I'll read again.

The auhtor did a great job writing about this different and interesting creatures and making them seem real.

This book was given to me by the author for an honest review. I feel like I've stepped into the middle of a series and it took me awhile to get caught up with all the characters. This story is about Asher, a bobcat who can nudge people with his mind and Kennedy, a were-lynx who has a photographic memory and is a computer whiz, great at hacking. Two misfits who are on the outs with their families, taken in by a colony of were-lynx where they learn to trust in themselves and each other.
