Hounds of Hell #9

Building Evolution

Rate this book
The smallest and youngest of the Lundberg litter, Oddfinn, finally joined his brothers at the compound, with the Lundberg treasures in tow. Though he’s the runt, he’s fought against the demons in his own way and somehow collected a small family of fighters that he taught all he knows. A socially inept genius, he is unsure of how to go about inserting himself into the established community and making the changes needed in order to save everyone… Including his mate.

Seth Mitchell has spent his years behind the security of the gates, never really sure what the big plan is for the saved souls. When the youngest Lundberg arrives, he’s immediately taken with the offbeat Oddfinn. Seth can see the hound’s generous, caring heart, even when others just seem to think he acts, well, odd.

With outside forces trying to break into the compound and change the world as they all know it, will Oddfinn and Seth be able to save everyone while making each other a priority enough to see if they can be together?

The youngest

With the youngest brother of the oldest family of hounds showing up, lots of new plans are taking shape in this story. While mates were involved, this was less about romance and more about modifying and adding to their small little community.

Summary:
Of all the books in the Hounds of Hell series this one was by far my favorite. Combine high intelligence, obsessive compulsive traits with someone who has little understanding of interpersonal relationships and you have Oddfinn! His desire to follow the directions sent by god while assisting other people along the way was inspiring. When Odd arrived with all his trucks filled with everything they would need for the fight ahead no one had any idea how to deal with him! It was sad how his own brothers thought the men following him were like a cult or as paid mercenaries when in truth they dedicated themselves to his cause without getting anything in return. The only one who seemed to really understand him, Seth, turned out to be his mate which worked out well for them. When Odd first met Danny, Seth's son, it was funny how similar they were, but when he realized who he was it was hysterical how he freaked out. Odd's ability to comprehend and deal with the many problems they were having may just be what was needed to survive the dangers ahead if Seth and Odd can work out their relationship in spite of Odd's many quirks!

Ok, I know I have said this before, but this was my favorite of the series to date! I actually had tears in my eyes at one point. I thought Odd was so endearing with his bluntness. He is the runt of his Litter and he is the one that has most of the answers or pieces of the puzzle that is needed in the battle between good and evil. I felt bad for Chandler though. I am hoping he finds himself with his a hound of his own. Seth being a cop is probably the only person that could handle Odd's bluntness and love him for it. And, how can I not love Danny!!!! I think Danny is a good mix of Odd and Seth, even though Odd is not his real dad. They are the perfect Odd family.

This was really good, all the way up till the way they skipped over what seems to be months and apparently everything is all happy and perfect? And it's the end? What just happened? I'm left wondering. What have I missed. Ending is so abrupt and I feel like I've missed a few chapters
