NOT SAFE!!

Rage rant incoming:

It is incredibly frustrating when books like this are labeled as "romance" because they completely violate what the genre is supposed to be about… When a book includes heavy cheating, lying, toxic and medically reckless behavior (as in blatant disregard for sexual health after cheating and no STI tests in pregnancy🤦🏻‍♀️🤢😵‍💫!) it feels less like romance and more like a horror story for your emotions! 🤢
These are exactly the kinds of books that people outside the community point to when they make fun of romance!
Who said romance is dead?! 😱😵
I stumbled upon this hot garbage”(pronounced in French accent!) and it is easily among one of the most disturbing, disgusting and lazy books that I've recently encountered in “romance”!
It is packed with toxic choices, messy cheating, terrible characters that completely give the romance community a bad reputation -do your sanity a favor and skip this nasty nightmare entirely!!

At first this felt like a cheap attempt to copy the Silent Flames blueprint… but love her or hate her, Cate C. Wells at least grips you with strong writing and intense emotional manipulation (though, as you all well know 🫣🙄I absolutely hated the way she manipulated readers into forgiving and rooting for such a highly troubling narrative!)…
This book? Just lazy, unsanitary and utterly gross. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤢

Lazy writing

SPOILERS!!!!!!
First, let me explain my rating. This author knows how to deliver a gut punch, but that’s all. You have a 44 year-old leading female character and a 46 year-old leading Male character, Lila and Victor.

Lila receives a video message on her phone of her husband of 20 years having full-blown porn sex with a younger woman that ends up being a stripper/bartender. Gut punch. Lila of course throws him out as she should. Divorces him. Goes to the strip club and punches the OW in the face and kicks her in her Lady bits. Love that part. Then she goes and that’s fire to his work truck, love that part also. Everything after this goes downhill. This is where the author gets lazy, we find out the 44-year-old woman is pregnant, now there’s nothing wrong with that but she does not list any concerns that the doctor would have at a woman her age that has been stated earlier in the book that she’s pre-menopausal. Google is your friend, author could have researched more on the subject.

Victor hasn’t had sex with his wife and almost a year and he was not feeling the love. So he goes and hooks up and has an affair with a younger woman who’s a stripper for months. The only reason the affair stopped is because she sent a video to his wife. He would have never told her and probably not stopped. He never got checked for an STD. Shame! But wait he loves his wife so much he begs, he doesn’t sleep, he lose his weight, everybody tells him to let her go so she can be happy. He finally. Signs the divorce papers they put the house up for sale. But the house doesn’t sale he can’t afford two places. So he moves back home with pregnant wife/ex-wife. He loves his wife. He can’t live without her begs, begs, begs.

Lila, goes on a date with a guy that she met in Greece, because of course she went to Greece by herself, she’s a strong woman. She hooks up with Graham because he flies to see her and of course she recorded it. This I 100% support!!!! but she doesn’t show Victor. Cause she still loves him, he didn’t Love you honey. She just loves him and thinks he’s sexy and everything else. She’s pregnant and has hormones. I start going into therapy. He watches the video. Because he deserves to hurt like her, she didn’t do anything wrong. They were divorced when she slept with other guy. Victor was still married to her and sneaking behind her back while he fornicated with the stripper and text with her having fun, he was just having him a “hot guy summer”.

They sleep together before she even has the baby because you know she can’t stand not to be with him. He’s the love of her life. Remember nowhere does it say he was tested. Gross. They have dates and of course when they go to do pottery, think the movie ghost. He stays on his knees, half the time begging and promising, he’ll never do anything to hurt her again….let me remind y’all one more time that this is a 44 year-old woman and a 46-year-old man. She’s still gonna go through menopause and not want sex! So disappointing.

Not ok in any way

So this author has been a go to for a while and the majority of her books I like. I couldn’t even finish this one. It was so bad. Let me set the scene for you. I appreciate that. There wasn’t a lot of backstory and it jumped right into the betrayal, but this is not a man who got drunk and cheated on his wife. This is a man who said horrible nasty things like dirty things to this woman he was cheating on his wife with things he still said to his wife and carried on an affair and then he even admitted to his best friend that he was having fun with her. Not I shouldn’t have done this how terrible no he said he had fun with her. This is an unforgivable man. The fact that any reviewer said that she didn’t like that Lila went and found somebody else breaks my heart for women everywhere. That’s the only thing though this book had going for it was that she didn’t wait for him. I’m gonna have to really question myself whether I download this offer again because it seems like she fell into the pit hole of giving you a rage read just to get downloads and I don’t think that’s the purpose of writing a book just to get clicks. It’s about building a story and all this was was a doormat female taking back a habitual cheater. Talk about horrible messaging.

DNF at 54%. I just can't do it. These characters are all in their forties, but the immaturity level is insane. Which is always a problem I have with this author's writing. When you have a book with infidelity from one spouse, but also end up hating the scorned spouse as well you know you're going to have a problem.

I read this the other day and initially decided not to review it.

Their marriage was in trouble before he cheats. They have a dead bedroom because she’s perimenopausal. As the story progresses, the reader realizes he tried to discuss the problem and she shuts him down every time. He should have left before he cheated, that’s on him, but the breakdown of their marriage starts with her and when he cheats, he demolishes it.

The author breaks him down completely, his life is in ruins, but she sets his truck on fire, she goes off to Greece, meets a man, realizes she’s having change of life baby (miraculously from the rare time they had sex… before he started cheating), comes home and the night before their divorce is final, she sleeps with the guy she met in Greece. Both main characters are horrible, but honestly what makes her worse… she videos her encounter with the OM, and feels justified because she found out he’s cheating when the OW sends her a video, that he had no clue she’d recorded. I have no problem with her trying to move on, meeting someone else, but this whole scenario is gross and cringeworthy.

This is the third book in the series, but it can easily be read as a standalone.

I was really excited for this one. I absolutely love a cheating redemption story, so I stayed up until midnight waiting for it to be released.

⚠️ Spoilers below.

The story follows Lila (44) and Victor (46), who have been together for over 20 years and don’t have children. The book opens with Lila receiving a graphic video from Cami, the stripper Victor has been sleeping with. Victor walks in, the confrontation happens, he apologises, but they never really discuss the affair itself. They don’t talk about Cami, what happened, or why. Lila simply tells him to leave, and after crying and begging, he eventually does.

From there, a huge part of the story focuses on revenge. Lila files for divorce, puts the house up for sale and goes to Greece. Victor’s mother and sister completely side with Lila, and Vanessa (his sister and Lila’s best friend) becomes one of my favourite characters because she never once makes excuses for her brother. Both Lila and Vanessa get their own revenge on Cami, Lila burns Victor’s car, Victor later loses his licence after drink driving, and generally we watch his life completely fall apart.

The big twist is that Lila discovers she’s eight weeks pregnant while she’s in Greece. She meets Graham there, who is clearly interested in her, but at first she only wants friendship. Eventually, later in the book, they do sleep together and she tells Victor about it, although she doesn’t immediately show him the video she recorded.

Victor eventually has to move back into the house because it won’t sell, but he stays in the spare room. The reconciliation doesn’t really begin until around the last 30% of the book. Lila agrees to therapy, they slowly start dating again, Victor insists on watching the video of Lila and Graham because he wants to “feel the pain”, and the epilogue jumps forward two years where they’re engaged and expecting another baby.

There were definitely things I really enjoyed.

Lila was easily my favourite part of the book. She wasn’t a doormat, she didn’t immediately forgive him, and she never let Victor off lightly. I also loved that his entire family sided with her instead of trying to defend his actions. I enjoyed the revenge aspect, and although it was over the top at times, I don’t actually mind that. I also appreciated that Cami wasn’t a huge part of the story. She wasn’t constantly shoved in the reader’s face, and I liked that Lila’s history of growing up around her father’s infidelity was mentioned because it added another layer to why this betrayal completely destroyed her, but again this could of had some depth.

I also really enjoyed the side story with Vanessa and Enzo and would happily read their book.

Unfortunately, this book just missed the mark for me.

The biggest issue is that I never understood Victor.

The author does a fantastic job of convincing me that Victor genuinely loves Lila. His remorse felt real. His regret felt genuine. I absolutely believed he hated himself after being caught.

But I didn’t believe the man who had the affair.

Those two versions of Victor just didn’t match.

The explanation for the cheating is basically that Lila had been struggling with perimenopausal symptoms, her libido had disappeared, and they hadn’t been intimate for around a year. Victor says he felt neglected. They eventually sleep together after a party where they’re both drunk, and according to him, that’s when he starts sleeping with Cami. That just makes no sense to me. You start the affair after you’ve been intimate with your wife because you could see she regretted it?!

By the end of the book, we learn he’d slept with Cami four times over a few months. There were no dates, no emotional affair, no gifts, no promises and no love.

But that’s also…all we learn.

I needed so much more.

Where did they meet after that first night? Was he regularly going back to the strip club? Who arranged the meetings? What was he thinking every time he chose to go? Why did he keep doing it? At what point did he decide to stop? None of those questions are really answered.

Instead, we’re constantly reminded that Lila hadn’t wanted sex for a year.

That, on its own, just wasn’t enough for me.

Especially because if Victor truly loved Lila as much as the second half of the book suggests, why wasn’t he trying harder to help her? Why weren’t they having conversations about what she was going through? Why wasn’t he encouraging her to see a doctor or trying to understand the changes she was experiencing? It felt like we were told the reason rather than actually shown the breakdown of their marriage.

The timeline also really confused me.

Victor says he only started sleeping with Cami after he and Lila slept together one final time. That turns out to be the night Lila conceived the baby. Yet Lila is only eight weeks pregnant when she receives the video, meaning Victor somehow met Cami, started an affair, slept with her four times and everything completely unravelled in what feels like a very short space of time. Maybe I misunderstood it, but the timeline never quite made sense to me.

The confrontation was another disappointment.

Considering this is a cheating book, I expected a huge emotional conversation.

Instead, it’s surprisingly brief, and almost all of the important questions aren’t asked until the very end of the book when they’re already in therapy.

Even then, I felt Lila didn’t ask enough.

She asks how many times they slept together, whether he loved Cami, why he did it, and whether he would’ve stopped if she hadn’t received the video.

Victor says yes.

I didn’t believe him.

Nothing in the story convinced me he was about to end the affair. Lila was still distant, she was still struggling with her symptoms, and Victor had already made the decision to cheat four separate times. His answer felt like what Lila wanted to hear rather than what I believed was true.

I also think the book focused so heavily on the revenge that it sacrificed the emotional side of the story.

The revenge was entertaining, but I wanted more conversations, more accountability, more uncomfortable discussions, more honesty and more rebuilding of trust. By the time the reconciliation arrived, it felt too quick because so many of the emotional conversations had either been skipped or left until the very end.

I actually think that’s why this author’s books don’t quite work for me.

This is the third book I’ve read by her, and although this has been my favourite of the series, I’ve realised I’m probably just not the target audience.

It’s not the writing—I actually like her writing style.

It’s the way the stories are structured.

They seem to focus much more on the revenge and eventual redemption than on the affair itself, the emotional fallout and the deeper remorse. For me, that’s the part I love most about cheating redemption stories. I want to understand how the relationship broke down, why the cheating happened, and then watch the hero truly earn his second chance.

Here, I never fully understood Victor’s actions, so I never fully believed his redemption.

Overall, I still enjoyed the book. Lila was a fantastic heroine, Victor definitely suffered the consequences of his actions, and there were plenty of entertaining moments throughout.

I just never got that emotional punch I look for in this trope.

Unfortunately, because of that, I can’t rate it any higher than 2.5⭐️. It’s still my favourite book in the series, but I came away feeling like it had all the ingredients for a brilliant cheating redemption story—it just never quite came together for me.

Just Okay

I really enjoyed the first two books in this series, but this one just didn't do it for me. The FMC was insufferable. The secondary female character was insufferable. I will never understand why some authors equate a strong female to a raging bitch.
Apparently it needs to be said that denying your partner intimacy for a year is emotional abuse. While I will never condone cheating, actively ignoring your partners emotional and physical needs is not any better. Victor should have separated from her before he cheated. And Lila refusing to acknowledge her part in the destruction of their marriage was beyond immature and lacked any accountability. The Lila was so unlikable.

H cheats on his wife that he loves soooooo much. He just had the self control of a 12 year old boy. Moneys tight with this couple, yet the author has Homegirl taking a three week vacation in Greece. Makes a lot of sense. Then the author writes all about their financial troubles just so that we will understand why the H and h have to live together. 🤦🏽‍♀️👎🏽 Poorly planned out book that doesn’t have me seeing redemption for the H. Even Stevie Wonder can SEE that he would have kept screwing the OW if he didn’t get found out.

The only reason that Victor stopped cheating with Cami was because he got caught. And, the only reason he and Lila got back together was because Lila was pregnant.

3 1/2 stars. The book starts off with a gut punch as the OW sends the h a text and video of her husband, the H, having sex with her. The h and H have been married for twenty years. The h works in a store. The H is a construction worker so this is not a story of billionaires with glamorous life styles. When the angry h sets fire to the H's truck, he loses his transportation to work and his tools. When he hits a parked car while under the influence and loses his license, it means he is walking to work or taking a bus. The need to economize is a big factor in the resolution of the betrayal but the h's decision to use their savings to take a three week vacation in Greece instead of paying the mortgage didn't make sense. The h and H both have a best friend offering advice and support. They both have a loving mother. The h's anger uses revenge as an outlet. The H does suffer but he keeps repeating apologies and regret rather than growing. The last third of the book was slow for me.

I’m in a pretty chilled mood today so the book didn’t bother me as much as it could’ve! I think I read it with a touch of detachment as some of the behaviour was a bit extreme.

I think there were a few things missing that would’ve closed out the book a bit better. I did actually believe the HEA (of course not IRL, but in a book yes).

Overall Opinion:
I think this is the best book so far in the Shattered Hearts Series (#3). I really love the fact that this was about an older couple (40’s).

Brief Summary of the Storyline:
“I’ve been fuc!ing your husband. Thought you should know. Cami.”
The reader gets the gut punch right up front and then grovel and comeuppance for the rest of the book. H (Victor) & h (Lila) have been married for 20 years. She gets a text from OW (Cami) followed by a video of Victor & Cami having smex. Lila kicks Victor out of the house right away. Starts divorce proceedings right away, and then goes on a much needed vacation on her own. It’s there she realizes she’s pregnant. The For pretty much the whole book karma is kicking Victors a$$. But he won’t give up. He loves her and spends much of the book telling her and showing her. Everyone in this book, from his family to hers, never tries to tell her to take him back. Never tries to justify what Victor did (that’s a major plus for me). For those who need to know the specifics. He was with OW 4x in a couple months. No love or feelings towards ow.

POV: Victor, Lila & Vanessa (Vanessa is the sister of Victor but also the best friend of Lila. She’s crazy….but you couldn’t ask for a better ride or die).

Overall Pace of Story: Smooth.

Grovel Fitting The Crime: It’s all relative, but in my opinion yes

H rating: 3/5. Hear me out. I know he’s an idiot. I know he could’ve done anything else to help Lila and get what he needs besides sleeping with OW. He could’ve asked for a separation, divorce, therapy. ANYTHING. We all agree he’s a moron. BUT. He did try and talk to Lila about how he was feeling about how he felt neglected by her and she blew him off constantly. She even admitted she didn’t want to be around him most days let alone have smex. I believed he loved her he just felt lonely and did a stupid dumb idiotic thing (4x)

h rating: 4/5. I thought she was a strong h. She still loved him but she didn’t give in. The only thing I didn’t like is the fact that she never acknowledged her role in the breakdown of their marriage. That doesn’t mean she made him cheat but she pulled away for over a year and when he tried to talk to her she’d scoff and walk away. She also was very vengeful. I get she wanted him to hurt like he hurt her but it bordered on unhealthy.

Sadness level: 0 tissues
Push/Pull: no
Heat level: 🌶️
Descriptive sex: yes
OW/OM drama: yes for both him and her
Sex scene with OW or OM: yes for both him and her. He has 2 scenes with OW & she has 1 scene with OM.
Cheating: Yes
Separation: Yes & divorce
Possible Triggers: Drinking & driving; cheating; physical assault towards OW
Believable HEA?: I thought so. I truly believed he hit rock bottom. Saw his life without her in it and will never be that stupid again.
3rd Act Breakup: No

- Does have cheating
- Does have a descriptive sex scene with OW/OM
- Does have a separation and divorce between the h and H
- Does Not have OTT sad parts
- Does have an HEA ending with OC.

was so so bad

this story just didn’t do it for me. Too much anger/violence. I mean what happened to Cami pressing charges for assault against Lila???. The cops showed up so I assume she would have to answer for that.

The timeframe seemed off too. It was months ago when they slept together but she was only 8 weeks and then she was 3 weeks in Greece she would have been more like 12 -14weeks. And let’s not mention her all drinking after video incident I would have been worried about that baby.

I don’t think I could have forgave him either for the things he said in that video.
I mean seriously disturbing. His reason to his friend “they were having fun”. Ugh then switched to I was neglected.
And what about the calls and texts what did they say?? Needed more info. And why didn’t he just block her after TSTL!!!

And She choose too much violence, seriously for being 44 very immature for this phase of life. It was embarrassing.

And I mean you don’t have sex with your husband for a year and you’re surprised when he cheats. I mean I get it no excuse for cheating …but that’s crazy too. I mean I could see a few months here and there. Pre-menopause isn’t nearly as bad as menopause symptoms which is what she was describing.
Couples would definitely be fighting way more than that if no sex for that long. And she was mean to him about it.

And she Gets miracle premenopausal pregnancy at 44 and then again at 46 more like 47 since you know 8 months of pregnancy =45 two years later 47 and without fertility treatments yeah not buying it

he went a year thinking his wife didn’t want him anymore then slept with someone else and then realized he loved his wife more than anything … this marriage was dead on arrival. And so now she will be a menopausal mother of two under 3’yeah they won’t make it lol

And the whole Graham thing was OTT too if it happened in Greece okay but that was stupid to happen while she lived with her ex. Seriously this book was just ridiculous.

And how did Cami even get her number??? To send a video And a stripper ughh I can’t even. I want my money back lol or the hours of my life back that I wasted on this. His grovel and whining was forced and so back and forth that I wanted to slap him myself.

My only advice is skip this book at all costs was just tragic garbage
Do better next time.

Lila and Victor

I have to be honest, I generally do not read cheating romances where they end up back together. I am usually more of a revenge, scorched earth kind of girl. Linzvonc is pretty much my one exception. She has a way of feeding my need for vengeance before they find their HEA and it is often in an OTT manner, which I appreciate.

This book has one of the most realistic portrayals of perimenopause out there. I think it is at the heart of the book and where a lot of their problems come from. Should a husband go cheat because his wife is struggling and acting erratic and shutting down and refusing intimacy for over a year, no. That is not ok. How he let it get that far, I have no idea. You would think he would have forced the issue of seeing a doctor or therapist, because there was obviously something not right. She was not communicating at all and it was super unhealthy and he kind of rolled with it. I could see where he’d be confused and hurt, though and it made him a bit more sympathetic, though.

I actually felt like Victor suffered quite a bit and was ok with his forgiveness by the end. I did believe that he was genuinely sorry and regretted his actions and loved Lila deeply from beginning to end. I know a lot of people feel that it was more just necessity that brings about their HEA, but I don’t necessarily believe that. He was miserable without her. He never even considered leaving her for the OW. It was just a physical release, which one again, is not ok or an excuse, but is better than a long drawn out emotionally charged physical affair in my mind.

I know this book is polarizing, but I enjoyed it and I’m glad I read it. This series is all a bit OTT as far as cheating and punishing the cheaters before the HEA. I need a lot of OTT suffering for the cheater if there is going to be a HEA for the OG couple.

Ahhhhh balls 😔 I was so disappointed when I closed this. I’ve read the authors previous instalments, and understand the tropes she covers well—I actually enjoy them when done with care and consideration.

This offering didn’t hit me with the emotions I’ve become accustomed to when reading about infidelity/marriage in trouble. The disappointment really did register, because when you enter into a story expecting angst, yearning, and deep soulful regret, but instead get a rushed job…it feels like a slap.

In short, we dive right in with FMC who is struggling with peri-menopause and a significant lack of sex drive, as in its non existent. We learn her husband (MMC) has tried to talk to her but she has shrugged him off, and is irritable and emotional. He then cheats with a stripper, who sends evidence of this to FMC. This is all very early on, so the story really follows the fall out more so than build up. And that right there was the issue for me. No build up that gave me any insight into their relationship, their love, or their problems. When that’s missing, the reveal feels like a tickle more than a gut punch—and let’s be honest, that’s why I’m here.

The story shows us some revenge bits (which I always enjoy usually), but some of them felt a little too soap opera for me (setting his truck on fire, etc). We know the MMC is remorseful, but again the lack of build up laying out his thinking as he made the choices he did left me bereft. Where are the emotions?! Then of course there’s therapy, which at this stage is like poly filler in the genre (for a lot of authors).

I could go on, but this is already nonsensical.
Overall, I wouldn’t pick it up again.

It’s a marriage in crisis with the husband actively cheating until his mistress send his wife their sex tape. Surprise pregnancy and forced proximity as well. It felt like a tit for tat situation at some point.
The MMC is pathetic for cheating on his wife because she doesn’t want to be intimate anymore and is going through perimenopause.
But the FMC is stupid! She knows she is going through a change but she doesn’t do anything and silently resent her husband to the point of toxicity.
Not that’s an excuse for cheating but the wife is dumb.
I enjoyed reading this story as it changes from the usual cheating trope. I mean they are well in their forties, and they are going through a lot of trouble that many long term couples go through. I felt like I could relate in someway.
I like how unhinged Vanessa is and I want to know if she is going to get her HEA with his bff.
Here’s a quote that resumes this story:
“I stopped, listening to him as silent tears streaked down my face. I didn’t want Graham. I didn’t care about his money—I’d been married to Victor for so long I’d never considered anyone else. If Victor wouldn’t have cheated on me, I’d still be very much in love with him. But would I? I hadn’t let him touch me before, had I? I’d felt distant. Unattractive. Maybe there was a crack in our marriage that I couldn’t repair, so I’d glossed over it, whereas Victor had cheated. Neither of us communicated. We’d both screwed up. But what he’d done had tore my heart apart, and I’d be damned if he wasn’t going to feel the same.”

such a great read

Was excited for this loved that once you start you just jump right into the drama and the fallout of his actions. I like most books like that where the betrayal or drama starts early on and this was on the first page lol. I liked how the FL was hurting but was still very strong willed and wasn’t going to let this hurt and betrayal break her fully. Did she do a couple things that I didn’t like and did she irritated me sometimes yes, but I still liked her strong personality. The angst was good, the groveling was even better there were a couple of times that I felt like it needed to be proofread again because some things were repeated but not the same thing. I gave it 4 stars because even though I understood her hurt feelings and that type of betrayal some things she did I didn’t like and books that have the tit for tat in em when somebody cheats. Like either they want to quickly jump into a relationship or sleep with someone else just to get over their cheating partner or want to do it get even just not something I agree with or like too much. Other than that it’s a good read I liked how it does have the HEA with the main couples.

Absolutely loved

Shattered Promises by LinzvoncS was an emotional read that had me hooked from the start. When Lila received the video of her husband, Victor, of twenty years, cheating on her, my heart absolutely broke for her. I couldn't imagine the pain and betrayal she must have felt.

One of my favorite parts of the story was Lila's over-the-top anger. It was dramatic, emotional, and honestly understandable after everything she'd been through. I also loved Victor's sister, Vanessa. Instead of defending her brother, she was Lila's true ride-or-die friend, and her fierce loyalty and outrage had me cheering her on. Their friendship was one of the highlights of the book.

The story was full of emotion, drama, and satisfying moments that kept me turning the pages. If you enjoy stories about betrayal, friendship, healing, and finding the strength to move forward, I definitely recommend Shattered Promises. I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading more from LinzvoncS.

I have absolutely loved the two previous books in this series, and I was so excited to dive into this third installment and experience all of the ways that Linzvonc was going to destroy me next.
This one jumped right into it head-first, and it was intense! I loved having the addition of Vanessa and Enzo. They added another layer to this story that kept me highly entertained. The revenge theme was quite perfectly done, but when Lila had to backtrack for financial reasons...among another...I felt like the most curious fly on the wall in the history of flies on the wall.
This one had all the feelings swirling around in the most wild storm ever. The pain, the regret, the chaos...I was enthralled by all of it.
This one wrecked me emotionally but also made me laugh out loud more than once. It took some turns that I absolutely hadn't been expecting, but I may have been evil laughing along with Lila much of the time. Another story extremely well done!

solid 4.5

I like this book as much as the first in the series. Which was a lot! The only reason why I didn’t give it a full Five stars was because it did tend to get a little repetitive, and I felt like their reconciliation was rushed just a little. 90% of the book was an angry wife who was a woman scorned. And then all of a sudden they just reconciled.

The therapy grovel redemption tends to get a little redundant too. However! Therapy did not play a big part in this book as far as his redemption. Which I appreciated.

Vanessa was unhinged and I loved it lol. I hope she and Enzo get their own book. I also really loved how his family stood by her. They have been together for two-ish decades, so they were every bit her family too.

I feel like there could’ve been some more comeuppance with Cami. She just kind of disappeared after a quick “ leave my wife alone” spiel.

Overall, it was a great read, and I do recommend giving it a shot!

TISSUES are a MUST 😜😜😜😜

WOW…….UMMMMM…..FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!

So the story we’ve been waiting for to make this series final 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

What would you do if your phone pings with a notification and it’s from an unknown number and it’s a video……well you’d press play and then your world shatters 😭😭😭😭😭

Lila, married to Victor for twenty years and then her world is destroyed……

Victor, loves his wife, so why did he do the one thing that would turn her life upside down…..because he’s a man and an absolute TOOL!!!!!!

This is a cheating story, BUT redemption is on the cards……..the only thing is when?

This book has blown me away with how beautifully written it is, the emotions are SPOT ON, just FANTASTIC

Second chance

Lila and Victor were a married couple in their mid 40s. Lila was dealing with effects of perimenopause. During this time, her and Victor drifted away both physically and emotionally and did not communicate very well. This caused Victor to cheat on his wife. His mistress sent a video to his wife, causing a downward spiral in his life. Lila is devastated and immediately files for divorce. While Victor realizes everything he’s lost, he’s trying to think of ways to win his wife back. It is a long road, one which he travels regularly for. Lila does get her revenge at both him and his mistress. Throw in an unexpected midlife pregnancy, and they are on their road to reconciliation.

Heartbreaking

Such a great read. I really dislike cheating books (actually avoid them as must as possible) BUT I love the author so I had to take the chance. I’ve read the three Shattered books and this one, IMO, was the most heartbreaking.
I still wasn’t sure about the redemption of MMC about 75% in. There was just no way…. I felt Lila’s pain all the way through the book. And then BAM! I can’t actually capture the moment I went ok, he’s ok now.
I’m not saying that cheating is my trope now. No way but for the author, yeah I’d do it again.
Well done Linzvonc, you’ve broke my heart but definitely patched it up again.

Lila and Vic!!

Can you say a book about cheating is a good read, in this case, it was done well and while the content was heartbreaking and gave me all the feels the story itself flowed well and kept me engaged enough to read in an afternoon, I really enjoyed the side character povs.
This is the third book in the Shattered Hearts Series and they all have brought something different to the table!
I really felt for Lila, her discovery of the cheating hurt my heart for her character. Victor imo redeemed himself, which is a hard task with cheating, mistakes were made from both sides and ownership taken.

I loved the bones of the story, the gut punch, the revenge, the way everyone sided with the wife. My issues is that the book started sharing that Lila is in perimenopause but ends up pregnant..in her 40's. This would be considered a high risk pregnancy and none of that was written into the story. Also we know her husband loves her and is sorry but I never understood the why, especially when we found out he was intimate with Cami AFTER he and Lila were together one drunken night. I just didn't get it. A one nighter I could have understood more, not return visits, it had to be more than sex. They also didn't address that he used the same words that he says to his wife and she heard them in the video.

Loved it !!!

I have been a long time follower and reader. I’ve read all 3 books of the shattered heart series and I loved the first two books. This one was one of the best of the series. I absolutely loved this book. I finished it in one day. I’m bad at reviews so bear with me. Lila absolutely made Victor work and work hard for her forgiveness, even though she wanted to break. I love a good book where you laugh, cry and get mad all within 3 chapters. Will definitely read again.

oh my gosh!!

When I tell you I was waiting months for this…MONTHS, I was borderline harassing the author on her FB lol

This was EXACTLY wtf I was expecting, gut punch betrayal, mmc suffering like crazy and the fmc coming out on top!

I felt bad for the fmc, she had no idea what was wrong with her, though I wish she did get the help she needed (BUT then we wouldn’t get the story we did, no did we?! 🤨) but I’m glad they both got help after.

After she made him suffer! I ALMOST felt bad for him!!! I loved his sister lol and the ow got what she deserved!!

Damn Lila!

This is about Lila and how she didn't fall down after finding out her husband cheated! Lila was going thru perimenopause and so she goes silent, ignores her husband so he feels unwanted and turns to someone else this ow tells Lila which causes her to kick Victor out and a divorce then Lila later on finds out she is pregnant, but doesn't take Vic back not right away but eventually there is a HEA for these two after therapy

I’m so happy this wasn’t a classic

I’m warning you, she did make him grovel; and I loved it.
It starts fast, but the getting over it - the hardest part to write- was slow and unrushed. He worked for it all and the ending was a perfect conclusion of him owning up to his mistakes and accepting his consequences:

I do love the ending though, she got everything she’d ever wanted… and I think that alone - whether you agree with her decisions or not- should make everyone happy.
