Leon Sylvester is a British entrepreneur, online educator, and thought leader in the field of alcohol addiction. He is the founder of Soberclear and the author of The 48-Hour Alcohol Reset. As of today, Leon’s work has generated over 100,000,000 online views, helping tens of thousands of people dismantle the "alcohol trap".
Sylvester grew up in Lancashire, England, where he attended high school and college before going on to Oxford Brookes University. After almost 10 years caught in the cycle of stopping and starting drinking, he had his breakthrough in 2018.
By dismantling his beliefs about alcohol and reframing it as the toxic substance it truly is, ethanol, Leon discovered how to flip an "off switch" in his brain. Since that day, he hasn't had a drop of alcohol and has experienced total freedom.
Today, Leon works with clients around the world, teaching them how to dismantle the alcohol trap by using The Soberclear System. The system was scientifically validated by an academic psychologist in 2025.
I wish that I have discovered this book years ago. While reading it I found the urge to drink disappearing much to my surprise. The book was engaging kept me interested until the very end. Can wholeheartedly recommend?
I decided to read this book while on a three-month alcohol-free journey. I couldn’t put it down! After finishing it, I can say without hesitation that I will never drink the poison again.
Alcohol has been the culprit for generations in my family. I’ve ordered three copies to share with my loved ones, praying they’ll read it so we can finally break the cycle.
Thank you, Leon, for following your heart and helping others find freedom too!
This book is a total game-changer. It felt like something finally clicked or switched in my brain while reading. Everything just makes perfect sense now, and the best part? I have absolutely no desire to drink alcohol anymore. Highly recommend!
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Can't help but think I should have found it 20 years ago. I might never have touched a drop of alcohol. AA was never for me, but the content just made sense.
This is an eye opening book. It really makes you stop and think about how alcohol has been marketed to us our entire lives. From a young age we are surrounded by messaging that makes drinking look fun, attractive, and even healthy. The book does a great job exposing how deliberate and powerful that marketing has been.
What struck me most was the science. The author clearly explains the health consequences of alcohol and shows that the damage it causes is not something that might happen, it is something that will happen over time. That part was honestly mind boggling.
I have always considered myself health conscious, but alcohol was the one thing I quietly gave a pass to. Deep down I knew it was not good for me, but like many people I ignored it. This book forced me to look at that honestly.
Excellent read and highly recommended for anyone who wants to understand alcohol and its real impact on our health.
I picked this up out of curiosity more than anything, but recently I’ve started to notice alcohol affecting my life a bit more than I’d like.
What I appreciated about this book is that it doesn’t come at you with the usual “just use more willpower” angle. Instead, it breaks down the beliefs and assumptions around alcohol in a really logical, structured way.
The biggest shift for me was the reframe. Rather than seeing alcohol as something you’re giving up or losing, it flips it into something you’re actually freeing yourself from. That change in perspective takes a lot of the tension out of it and makes the whole idea of not drinking feel a lot more natural and sustainable.
You can tell the author has put serious thought into this, but it’s explained simply and clearly without overcomplicating things.
Definitely recommend it for anyone who’s even slightly questioning their relationship with alcohol.
After nearly 30 years of drinking, I had reached a stage where it felt like a cycle I couldn’t break. I had stopped before for a few months, but without understanding what comes next, I always ended up back where I started and always worst.
What made this book different for me was the shift in perspective. It wasn’t about willpower — it was about understanding. Something clicked while reading it, and for the first time I could clearly see the patterns and the illusion around alcohol.
One of the most valuable parts was the focus on what happens after you stop drinking — building a vision and creating a new direction. That was something I was missing before.
It’s simple, clear, and easy to follow, but also powerful in the way it makes you think.
If you’re questioning your relationship with alcohol or feel stuck in a cycle, this is definitely worth reading.
Thank you Leon and Soberclear for this remarkable work.
A Refreshing Approach to Breaking Free From Alcohol The 48-Hour Alcohol Reset is not another willpower book it is a systematic dismantling of the beliefs that keep people trapped in cycles they cannot escape. Leon Sylvester does not ask you to try harder. He asks you to think differently. Grounded in First Principles Thinking, his approach exposes precisely why traditional methods fail and offers a clear, methodical path forward. The writing is direct, compassionate, and meets the reader exactly where they are. For anyone exhausted by the cycle of quitting and returning, this book feels less like advice and more like an answer. A necessary read for anyone ready to break free for good.
I've read a lot and watched a ton of youtube etc on how alcohol works and why it messes with us so bad, but it never really clicked like what to do about it/how to deal with it. So I didn't expect it...But after reading this book, i am never gonna touch a drop of POISON ever again. This book is the ONE! Super well written, relatable, and sophisticated but still easy to understand. Thanks Mr. Sylvester!
An amazing book. It totally opened my eyes as to how alcohol and its use conditions people from an early age. The book offers great practical solutions as to how to overcome pressure from others to drink, examining why people drink what is effectively poison and how to move on from this awful substance.
The 48-Hour Alcohol Reset does exactly what it says on the tin! I could relate to the author's story throughout the book and enjoyed how he combined his story with all the information on how to stop drinking alcohol. I'm not a drinker myself, but work in addiction so this book was very informative.
A huge paradigme shift for me and the way I view addiction. I cannot believe it’s taken me so many years realize my thinking was the most important thing to shift. This books was truly a life saver.
This is a compelling book that can really make a change in your life if you are ready. A different view and outlook can make things so easy. Highly recommend.
Everyone should read this book! It should be mandatory in schools! Even if you don’t think you’re in an alcohol rut. It’s still a fantastic read for anyone!
I recommend this book for anyone who is drinking wine everyday thinking they shouldn’t. What a practical no BS way to clearly see a way out of a bad habit. May even work for some other habits too. Make sure you follow the 48 hour rule.
