Good story, very inaccurate though

I struggled with my rating on this book. This is the first book I've read by this author ...and while I enjoyed the story immensely, the historical inaccuracies truly tripped me up. Not only that, but there were a few inconsistencies in the character development. I read extensively, and the vast majority of novels I read are historical fiction. Because of that I've learned specific modern phrases and habits simply didn't happen in the 19th century or before. I can appreciate the author's license to creativity, but a little research would have been very helpful. I can only imagine her other novels would be the same. That said, I felt the story had good plot development, adequate character development, and more than anything, enough conflict that kept me reading, wanting to know what happened next.

Delightful. Charming. Story driven. Third narrator for series. Read/listen in order. Clean/sexless, but still passionate. I recommend doing this series in order, even while each book offers a complete stand alone plot, because the characters from the earliest volumes in the series are charming and you can follow their lives through multiple generations as the series goes forward in time. The characters of earlier books continue to appear (in secondary roles) in this sweet, clean, fun Western mail order tale, with occasional historic inaccuracies and plot linear bumps.

Book 17 – Westward Courage. Cassie Sebastian is a rich socialite—until the sudden deaths of her family. Forced to find a rich husband to support herself, she answers an advertisement from Caleb Benson, whom she thinks is well-to-do. Their unlikely romance seems to thrive until tragedy strikes and threatens to tear the two lovers apart forever. Far more actively Christian that previous books in series.

She was looking for a rich husband

I thought the story was well written and showed her talents very well off. How Joe,found out through his trying to get rid of her that he needed her for a job. Even when things didn't go well she stepped up to all the challenges that got throwed at her.

Bad beginnings sometime develop into great and happy endings.

Another great story I enjoy reading, living with the protagonists their tragedies, overcoming differences, sickness tears finally compromising to make each other happy. I was hooked with the Lakota spirituality, and afterlife’s believing l.

Jeez the books are emotional! I love how different Caleb and Cassie are yet how they fit so well together. Completely different backgrounds and both quick to argue with one another, they shoot off sparks all the time. It’s perfect. When tragedy strikes its horrible but the ending is bittersweet. I didn’t see that coming but it turns out beautifully.

This is one of the best clean historical mail order bride series I have ever read. This is the story of Cassie, a socialite who has recently lost her family in an accident and Caleb, a rancher and bouncer at The Watering Hole. When I finish one book of the series, I immediately want to start the next book.

Truly a clean romantic history

I have come to love all the players in this drama. They are real as well as unforgetable. Do not
read out of sequence. It is so much better to follow the story as it naturally progresses.
