This book was a surprise hit for me. I read it cover to cover and took notes, and found it all fascinating. It's an introduction to archeology, but even more so it's an introduction to the history of humankind. Since I have only a partial and pathetic knowledge of human history (as in "blank, Ancient Greece, blank, Roman Britain, blank, Crusades, blank, Plains of Abraham, blank, WWII), most of this book was news to me. I loved it.
