This was a light, sweet romance between Declan and Camille. I would consider this a clean romance, spice level is low. I would say in a way it's a reverse grumpy vs sunshine, where the MMC is more laidback and easy going, where the FMC is a bit grumpy, standoffish. If they didn't mention the age gap, then they would have been paired well as FMC acts older/wiser than 25, and MMC acts younger than his age at near 40 or so. I like how Camille helps Declan with his past and healing from it. And how Declan helps Camille be more open about her career and helps her in her career as well. This is a part of the series, it does show Alexander, one of his friends, so if you want his background and who he is in a relationship, then you should read Older Richer Mine first. Then this book which lead to further books in the series. Anyhow I enjoyed reading the book and how the relationship between Camille and Declan improved and grew over the book. There was a bit of jealousy on both parts but it didn't bring an issue to them overall. However, I don't think it was needed to bring out Sophia, a past lover of Declan, and Declan flirting with the competitor's wife just because competitor was trying to bring Camille over as competitor's chef. Only redeeming part was when Camille brought humor about Sophia later. The friendships that Declan had were interesting so I'm looking forward to hearing more as the series continues.
When French chef Camille first meets restaurant owner and chef in his own right, Declan, she mistakes him for a dock worker and asks him to carry her bags, not realizing he’s her new boss. As they begin to work together, they learn to navigate the cultural differences between them, but must also overcome secrets from Declan’s past. Camille was hired to cover for the regular chef for the summer, but will she leave before her time is up, or will she fall for the boss and extend her stay? This was a fun, character-driven, forced proximity age-gap billionaire romance, and definitely worth reading!
I received this as an ARC read from the Author in return for an honest review.
OMG! I absolutely Loved this story.
Declan is a business owner of a restaurant named the Foundry. When Camille arrives on the dock she mistakes Declan for a dock worker and requests he carry her bags. He is shocked that a beautiful woman was sent to be his head chef while his was out. When he walked into the restaurant to introduce himself to her she was a bit embarrassed that he was her boss. She proved herself as an Amazing French Chef from Paris. The story was so well written. It was a clean romance which I really enjoy reading.
I loved this book with all of its twists and turns. I loved how confident and complex Declan is. Camille will grab you and you’ll want only the best for her. I loved the detailed descriptions, made me feel as if I knew exactly what the characters were encountering. You will be riveted to each page and won’t want to put it down till the end.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
