First Destiny

Rate this book
This is not your grandfather’s America.

Breaking free from the stranglehold of a brutal Regime in the not-so-distant future, Cade Landon is on the hunt for his destiny. Dedicated to reuniting with his long-lost sister, Cade stumbles into a struggling town ruled by a maniacal survivalist Boss hell-bent on re-establishing order and interpreting the New America, as he sees fit.

Torn between dedication to his family and his emerging ties to a home he never knew about, Cade is exposed to a dark family secret and a chance to seize a destiny he never dreamt of –saving something he cares about – by saving a small town and preserving what has emerged from the ashes as the New America.

How easy can it be to walk away when you alone have the power to save lives? And just how much will Cade be willing to give before his chance to reunite with his beloved sister is nothing more than a pipe dream?

Set in a neo-noir America rife with political upheaval begging for the skills of a man like Cade Landon, Book One in the Landon Series provides a seat-gripping, heart-pounding dive into what it takes for a country to start over and what kind of souls must rise up from the ashes to lead the charge.

First Destiny is a page turning winner. It is set in the future after the fall of a Regime that had placed citizens in reservations where they essentially were slave labor.

Cade Landon is free now but on a mission to go to a homestead and get a box. Before his father was executed he told Cade that this box could help him find his sister, Callie. America is a rough place to be during this time. There are clans everywhere - some good - some malicious beyond belief.

Unfortunately, the homestead is included under Boss Slater's clan properties. Boss Slater is an evil, hateful, sadistic man who enjoys causing pain and even death to others.

The story that follows is one of love, new friendships, danger and more. I didn't want to put it down because the question in my mind was - What could go wrong next for Cade and the people around him? Just being around Cade put a person's life in danger.

The characters are well developed and each interesting in their own way. I recommend First Destiny to anyone who likes action, good vs evil, dystopia, and good writing.

David Clarke

This book was amazing. The story line, the characters, the love and redemption of a man who didn’t really believe in himself. He never knew the love and support of family because he lived a cruel life of bondage and terror. Our country was overtaken by a sadistic country. Rounding up our countrymen and putting them in forced labor camps. Made to watch his father be brutally killed a anger welled up in him. When the camps were disbanded he goes in search for his sister.
He ends up in a small town in the mountains, one his family had roots in. They too are being terrorized by a clan of people who have as a leader a very sadistic man. It’s up to Cade to help these people who have come to be his family.

I am very disappointed after reading this fabulous story that there are no more kindle books to finish this three part series. It saddens me because this is probably the best book I’ve read in awhile. I hope the rest of the series will become available to purchase through kindle books.
Kudos to you Mr. David S. Clarke, you are a wonderful storyteller!!!

Predicable

The story was very simplistic, I couldn’t wait to get to the predictable end. YA must be the target audience.

An unfolding story.

That develops and improves as it goes drawing you in and in further and the climax takes you to another level.

Must have more!

I have read many books in my life but few have genuinely had me wanting more so soon. I know I only gave this one 4 stars, but it was well worth reading. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys the Survivalist or other similar books. Think I will head back to Amazon and get David S. Clarke's next volume!
