Jinty James grew up reading Enid Blyton's Famous Five and Secret Seven mysteries, as well as all the Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden books. Later on, she graduated to mysteries written by Agatha Christie, Elizabeth Peters, and many other authors. It was her dream to one day write her own cozy mystery, and now she has, with plans for many more.
Pru, an assistant librarian, gets a call from her friend, Piper, asking for urgent help. Pru goes immediately and finds herself working a waitress in a pop-up restaurant where one of the servers didn't show up. The meal is being designed around a debut artist's work which is comprised of round red fruit. But things go bad when the artist suddenly collapses into his soup. Now Pru and Pip along with Pru's fluffy companion, an adorable Coton de Tulear pup, are investigating. There are several possible suspects, so how will they narrow things down?
This is the second book in a new series by Jinty James and it was great. This quick, fun read was well-written with well-developed characters. I was drawn into this engaging story and kept hooked from beginning to end. There's small town charm, sweet romance, and an intriguing mystery which all combine into a story that'll keep you reading. I loved this book and am looking forward to the next one. I highly recommend both book and series.
Face-Down in the Soup by Jinty James is the second book in this series but it can be read as a stand-alone. It has it all - a murder mystery, a cute dog, amateur sleuths, and some romance with a detective! This is a quick read that will keep you guessing whodunit until the very end.
The plot and characters are well developed and they interact well with each other. I received an advance copy and I always review every book that I read. If you like cozy mysteries with a cute dog, then you will thoroughly enjoy this book. Enjoy.
This was a good story and fun despite being a murder mystery. The main characters, Pru, Pip and the dog Teddy are fun to read about. The plot is easily followed and the premise is finding out who killed the artist and why. There is no excuse for murder, but the reason for the artist's murder was worse than most. I do recommend this story.
A sweet and cosy mystery with Pru, Pip and Teddy, a delightful little dog, becoming involved in the murder of an unpleasant artist. Easy and enjoyable to read.
