Hahaha... That book was really good!!!
It was a quick, funny, teasing and intense reading, all in once!!!
I really liked Declan brothers, even though, except Jax, i saw small glimpses from the other two...
But i'm wondering about their stories too... Especially Slate's...
But let me talk to you about this one...
Emmie and her two besties are deciding to spend their summer in their "hometown" but Bayou for them means hot and steamy Declan brothers... And for Em, that means Jax.
Jax was 3 years older than her and she was always having a hard crush on him... Back then, she had tried to thrown herself to him but he always rejected her. And that hurt her pride and her feelings...
Now, she is determined to make it a purpose of her life to break this certain Declan brother...
And to finally make him hers...
Jax Declan has own a bar together with his brothers that there are taking place in some MMA fightings... and he and his brothers joins them!!! From the age of 21, he had the responsibility of his siblings, so the only thing that he was wanting for himself had to stay behind...
But after so many years of struggle with his brother's problems and his very own, Emmie Rue returned to town and she is determined to tease him until to make him hers...
But this game can be played from two and so the game is on...
Jax had warned Em a while ago....

3 First Love Stars
This book was okay on it's own but in my opinion its purpose was to set up the remaining stories between the other 2 brothers and vacationing friends. The writing was fine and the story itself was cute but that's about it. Not a whole lot of character development and I felt the backstory needed more detail. Based on this quickie, I can definitely see some promise for the rest of the series.

This was a quick and steamy read! Some aspects – the plot and character development – definitely could have used some work, but overall it is a decent enough read. The smexy times are definitely hot!
I am looking forward to Slate's book next!

I am so glad the HOT cover matches the story!! Because Jax sure knows how to push those vanilla boundaries in the bedroom..a short story to wet your appetite..

I loved Jax (fans face) he knew what he wanted, took his time like a slow poured beer, but once he laid claim to what he wanted, there was no holding him back..
JAX ~ I finally found my "Just right pie" this pie isn't too tart, too sweet, or too bitter. The ingredients, every damn one of them, are perfect.

3.5 stars for the superhot sex scenes. As for the romance it was dragged out, h chased H and they didn't get together till last 30% I'd say...I almost DNFed.

Quick, sexy read. Three girlfriends set on breaking three brothers. Jax was seriously hawt, and he had been in love with Emmie since high school. Life happens and she moves away. Now she's back and he's not going to let her get away this time.
There was one line that I read, re-read, came back after a couple pages and read again. It just makes me laugh.
"His thumb finds my clit, and with precise movement, he buffs my nub."
Where are they..a nail salon?
Can't wait to read Slate's story. It's gonna be good.

Jax was the first book in the Breaking the Declan Brothers by Kelly Gendron. It wasn’t my first book by the author and it won’t be my last.
Jax Declan and Emmie Rue had a history - not a relationship history, but a childhood history none the less. They grew up together but Jax was a few years older and wouldn’t give Emmie the time of day, no matter how hard she tried. When Emmie graduated high school, she left her childhood crush and the Bayou behind. Fast forward six years later and she returned for the summer with her two best friends.
Jax was written with a double POV, although, we received more of Emmie’s than Jax. The beginning was cute which set up the series perfectly. And the prologue was quite mysterious which had me trying to figure it out throughout the story.
All in all, I enjoyed the story but it took a little longer to get them fully together then I liked and it seemed a little repetitive. But I did like their teasing and flirting, I just wanted them to move on quicker. And then I didn’t like Emmie not communicating with Jax at a crucial point. I loved both characters and I loved them together but I wanted more so I felt a little disconnected at times. And I think in the end, that’s what summed it up - I really liked the story, but I didn’t totally love all of it and was craving something more from them.
I do, however, love how the series was staged, so I’m hopeful for more Jax and Emmie as the series progresses. And the mystery behind Slate - I’m definitely looking forward to his story next in Slate.

I know most people are in love with Jax from Sons of Anarchy, but never having watched that show (and after reading this book) I can safely say the Jax I want is Jax Declan. Broody, mysterious, Alpha hottie, Jax.
After six years away, Emmie Rue is back in the Bayou, and back to lusting after the oldest Declan brother, Jax. Emmie plans to spend her summer with her two best friends, each breaking one of the Declan boys, and finally getting Jax to notice her. But the Jax she finds waiting for her is different to the one she left behind. Older, stronger, sexier and maybe even more like the bad boys he warned her away from, than the good guy he always seemed to be...
Well, hell. Jax was a super fast read, and oh, how I wish it was longer. I think I could read about Jax Declan for days. He was all brooding strength and sexy dominance, and damn, if that didn't get my motor running.
I loved this book. It was fun, panty-melting hot, and had me wanting...no, wait, needing to know more. I loved the banter between Emmie and Jax, the anticipation, the slight intrigue (questions, I have questions, which I hope will be answered in Slate). I loved the idea behind this book -- three best friends, looking to have some summer fun -- and I have to say, Ms. Gendron nailed the execution. Sure, it was shortish (or it felt so, because I couldn't put it down) but there was enough happening to command my interest, and the pace was spot on. It wasn't rushed, but it wasn't drawn out either. Make sense? Meh, just read and you'll see what I mean.
Eek, I cannot wait for more from this series. Jax is just the first book in the Breaking the Declan Brothers series, and damn it, I don't want to wait for Slate and Zeke to get their books too! ~ Beth, 5 stars

OMG! Jax was absolutely amazing!! It was even better and so much more than I expected it would be! I positively loved, Loved, LOVED IT!!!
Oh my gosh, I'm just so excited about it, I don't even know where to start! I guess I'll tell you about Emmie Rue first and then I'll get to the delicious sexiness that is Jax!
Emmie Rue is an awesome heroine! She's sassy, confident, and determined with a ton of fire and spirit to back her up. She has this positive energy about her and even though she's a former beauty queen, she has a sweet and kind genuineness to her that I just loved! Emmie was real and just as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside.
Now, onto Jax and whoo-ee ladies, let me just tell you, you're going to need to change your panties after this one gets ahold of you because yowzers, this man is HOT! Like, scorching, burning, melting HOT!! Jax is like the ultimate Alpha; he's so dominant, possessive, and in control. He can be kind of a turkey sometimes, but he's also sweet, patient, and understanding. I just completely loved him!
Jax is a very fast and mostly easy read with just a little darkness in it. It will make your heart ache, pound, swell, and melt. It's a fun, but meaningful, beautiful, and super HOT story and I wholeheartedly loved it!!
Jax is told from both Jax and Emmie's POV and they definitely get their HEA! It is a standalone, but the ending was cliffhanger-y and what a cliffhanger it was! I need Slate's story like, NOW!!! ~ Paige, 5 stars

Was pretty good. Kept me interested the longer I read. And that ending & the teaser for the next book... Can't wait to see what happened to Slate.
Also like that these books might me about three different girls & three bothers but the story appears to continue from one book to the next during a summer.

Jax had warned her to stay away from bad boys, but what Emmie ever wanted was to get bad boy Jax!
A few years later Emmie and her two friends, Rayna and Lurlene, head back to Bayou in Texas to take a summer vacation. The three girlfriends plan to meet and break the Declan brothers (Rayna dated Slate in school). Both Jax and Emmie are now more mature and wiser, and there is still a strong erotic spark between them. Jax wants the sexy and sassy Emmie, and Emmie wants the all alpha-male Jax. He is raw, handsome and feisty and beautiful Emmie is testing his limits. There is lots of sexual innuendo, followed by mind-blowing sex and intense emotional ups and downs.
This was such a great beginning for this series…this book has great main characters, very well developed. The plot has a lot of tension, but is so yummy that I devoured this book in a matter of hours.

Rayna dated for several years of high school Slate Declan until he broke her heart, contributing to her decision to leave the city. Therefore, they decide that it is now their turn to break the hearts of these boys. And also take vantage of that and play with the younger Declan, Zeke, who is full of rules for dating women.
Jax is a book you´ll read really fast. I got hooked by it and it has a lot of sexual tension and that's why I considerer it as a hot one. And let me tell you these brothers are really HOT. They can make a simple “Apple pie” sexy. It's fun and excellent option for pastime.
Once I finished reading JAX, I got my SLATE ebook and started to read, simply because I could not stop reading about the Declan Brothers. I wanted more of these brothers. ZEKE's book is not out yet and I know I will be crazy waiting for him.
If I recommend it? If you're looking for a great reading, enjoyable, sexy, don't think twice and go for it!

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book I've read by this author and I'm looking forward to reading more.
The Declan brothers are smoldering hot on the outside and all kinds of complicated on the inside. This book's main focus was Jax but there was plenty of set-up for future books for Slate and Zeke.
Jax is the oldest and was responsible for taking care of his younger brothers. Em was a girl they all grew up with as friends. She had always flirted with Jax but he knew he was too old for her so his plan had been to wait until she turned 18 and then he was going to ask her out. Things didn't go as planned and she ended up leaving town and going to college, starting a career and life away from where she grew up without Jax ever letting her know how he felt about her.
Em and two of her friends decide to go back home for the summer to have fun. Em's plan is to finally break Jax and get him to sleep with her. What she doesn't expect is for both of their hearts to get involved. She finds out that Jax has always wanted her, even though she thought he was rejecting her. They have strong feelings for one another, but a lot of time has passed since they last knew one another and they aren't the same people that they used to be as teenagers.
A situation from Jax's past is thrown right at Em's face and she has to decide what she's going to believe about him. Trust me, it's impossible not to fall for Jax. He's responsible and loyal to his little brothers; having given up college in order to take care of them and still made a successful career for himself and his brothers too. He's honest even when it might be easier for him to lie, even when he knows he could lose Em over it he still tells the truth.
"You listen to me, Emmie Rue. I will never ever hurt your heart, princess. I will never break it. The only thing I want is to be a part of it. I want you to feel me deep inside of it." Whose heart wouldn't melt if the guy they'd always wanted said that to them? He says what he feels without holding anything back.
This was a delightfully engaging love story with plenty of spice. I definitely recommend it to all romance readers!

3.5 Down in the Bayou Stars
hmmmmm,.....I'm conflicted on how I feel about this book. There were parts of it I truly loved, and then other parts that I thought were good, but they were just that, okay. I think the main parts I loved the most were always about Jax and that's what makes me conflicted because I don't want to give him as a character a bad review, lol. Let's see....
The book starts out with three different girls trying to figure out what they want to do with their summer. One, Emmie for this book, can work from anywhere, one is in between jobs, and one is a teacher out for summer break. They are brainstorming ideas when Ryana comes up with a devious plan. In the Bayou where she and Em grew up, there is a set of three brothers, a womanizer, Rayna's ex, and then Jax who Em has always been in love with. They decide that breaking these brothers will be the perfect past time during their summer. This book was Em and Jax's story.
When Em first sees Jax again she instantly feels the same pull she has always felt. But, something is different now too. Jax pays attention more to her, acts more interested. To the point Emmie starts wondering who is breaking whom here.
I loved all of Jax's POV. He was a very intriguing character and really drew me into the story. Em was okay, I mean seriously, there wasn't really anything about her that I hated, I just didn't feel the same pull toward her as I did with Jax. The story line was pretty good. I loved how Jax actually made Em work for what she wanted, especially considering how many times it mentioned how she had never really had to work for anything in her life. But Jax in the bedroom, DUNZO here, that man,...holy cow wow!!
I got this book as an ARC, but let me tell you, I will be coming back for more because I am totally intrigued about Jax's two other brothers as well. This book was a great quick read. At about 200 pages it reads fast. The story line keeps moving at a decent pace, and of course plenty of smoldering times to keep you coming back for more.

hell, that's all I'm gonna say about this story...and it's not as much of a story it's more of the protagonists of the story and they were way ...yuck
especially the female characters...
1) the spoiled"shallow beauty" that no one understands how worthy and smart she really is,
2) the friend that once "kinda" got her heart broken by one of the Declan bros and now she's after the revenge and
3) a "lustful" virgin that wants to pop her cherry ASAP...
and there's a Declan guy for each and one of them...and the girls just decided to do it ALL in one summer in Bayou...
I couldn't care less for the characters and the events that followed...
oh, man!

What a great book! I took a 10 hour car trip today and I read the whole thing while riding LOL
I loved Jax! He was alpha, dominant, sexy, caring and sweet all rolled into one! The way he reacted when he finally realized he loved Emmie was just perfect :) Emmie, better known as Princess to Jax, knew what she wanted and went all out to get it...Jax. My only problem was that she knew she was falling for Jax and she wasn't the one to admit it first. She got freaked out and then avoided the topic for a while.
I am beyond curious about Slate, and I can not wait to see Zeke fall in love! I will definitely be reading the next books in the series!

The relationship is a friends to lovers/second chance –of sorts-for Emmie and Jax. We are introduced to Emmie’s best friends Lurlene and Rayna, as well as Jax’s younger brothers, both MMA fighters and co-owner of the JZS bar Zeke and Slate. Zeke’s persona is a bit of a man-whore, but it is Slate who will garner the attention and break your heart. Slate and Rayna’s storyline is next.
JAX is a quick read; a storyline about friendship and second chances but I was disappointed in the lack of character development for our leading couple .Emmie and her friends return to the Bayou Vista intent on seducing and breaking the Declan brothers, and in this the sexual heat and aggression begins immediately upon the reintroduction of Emmie and Jax. The characters are colorful and animated although lacking in some background history; the world building takes a quick look at the Declan brother’s JZS bar and their foray into MMA world of backroom fighting leaving this reader wanting more details about the who, how and why. Like many introductory storylines there wasn’t enough background information-some authors info dump while others tread carefully so as not to overwhelm the reader. The romance between Emmie and Jax is quick to develop as our leading couple has always had a thing for one another.
If you like a storyline and series about family struggles, brothers who loved and lost, and the women they cannot forget, then the Declan Brothers Series by Kelly Gendron should be on your list of ‘want to reads’.

Jax is a bit dark and very sensual… more like incendiary hot and quite erotic… but in addition to all that lovely steaminess, there are tendrils of several interesting stories that have caught my interest and squeezed my heart. When friends decide to return to the area where they had been reared for a summer vacation, they find their previous teen-aged crushes have significantly changed. The boys are now men, but not all the changes have been positive ones, and it seem the history was not all as they remembered. As always, Kelly Gendron tells an entertaining, thoughtful, and compelling story while she builds the sizzle and push/pull of a second chance romance, one that has old and new secrets that keep popping up. I enjoyed the introduction to the various players and am eager to continue on with Slate, as she has certainly garnered my attention and piqued my curiosity.

New author for me and "Jax" was the perfect book to start with! " Jax" isthefirst in the Breaking the Declan brothers series and was a great first read!

Jax is a quick read, but what it lacks in page count is made up for in what is packed in those pages. It's full of a lot of intense emotions, but it's also funny and sweet, and quite sexy.
I love a second-chance romance, and the story of Jax and Emmie Rue is a good one. They never really had a chance when they were younger, circumstances kept them apart, but now that Emmie's back in town Jax is not going to lose this opportunity to finally have the girl who's been on his mind all these years.
"And then," he brushes his lips across my fingers with his dark eyes touching me all the way to my whimsical soul, "you're going to thank Rayna too for bringing you back here, for bringing you back to me."
I really enjoyed Jax and Emmie's story...they are so playful together, but there's also this amazing chemistry between them. Jax is such a dominate character, he really kept Em on her toes. The banter and the back forth, the teasing, the quiet moments- it all made for an engaging read.
We also get to know a bit about Emmie's friends and Jax's younger brothers...previews of what's to come in the next books in the series. I'm looking forward to seeing what's to come, as there's quite a bit of mystery surrounding Slate.

The Good
I love the plot to this story, not only Emmie and Jax's storyline but Jax's brothers and the women they are about to encounter. This is your typical formula of boy meets girl at high school, both had crushes on the other and both reconnect after a few years. Jax was your silent sexy type and was very inviting with his words. Emmie was likable when around her friends and off course Jax. Their physical chemistry and interaction towards the end was more appeal for me. Seeing their story unfold makes one hungry to read the other books in the series.
The Bad
Emmie could come off annoying as though she was still in high school at times but she was still likable in some ways. The build up between Jax and Emmie came off a bit repetitive and seems slow at one point but quickly recovered.
Overall
Overall, still a good quick read with likable characters to build on. The brothers sounds yummy, sexy with a bit of mystery to them.

The story started really strong. The writing was good and intense, at least in the beginning! I loved the tension among Jax and Em.
However there were a couple of minor points for me. The story was too short for my taste. I think there was a lot more that could have happen and said in this story before it was ended. Although I loved the dirty talk from Jax, I don't think he went through it as he was always so nice with Em.
The characters were strong and intense but sometimes they felt a bit out of it. I mean she stops him in a certain moment and they don't speak about it for a couple of weeks. I would think that it will be the first thing to talk about when you care about someone! But I still liked them!
I really liked the story and I would like to know what happened with the other brothers, so I will definetely read the next book!

As much as I enjoyed this book, I wanted more. I think the thing that drove me to keep reading was Slade. I wanted to find out what was going on with him, why he'd overdoesed and was popping pills, instead, I find out I have to wait until his book comes out, which is frustrating.
In my opinion, he is the hero in this book, rather than Jax and Emmie. We don't really get to know them as characters, they're very two dimensional, with us only getting a glimpse at who they really are.
The chemistry between the pair is a little lacklustre and the sex was let down with too much internalisation rather than how they were feeling in the moment, not to mention the lack of Spontenaity.
