In reality TV form, this series follows the lives and loves of those who work at Captive Films. Hot, successful, playboy Riley Johnson, whose business success far exceeds his success in love. Movie star, Keatyn Douglas, whose epic love story has spawned a series of books and movies. And Dawson Johnson, who joins Captive with a tragic past. Expect lots of drama, sex, and tabloid-worthy events.
Fans of the USA TODAY bestselling series, The Keatyn Chronicles, will love reconnecting with their favorite characters as adults. This series is meant for readers 18+.
Jillian Dodd is a USA Today bestselling mother-daughter duo made up of Jill and Kenzie — two writers, one pen name, and a shared love for fun, binge-worthy YA romance.
With over fifty books and millions of happy readers, their stories range from small-town love in That Boy to glamorous adventures and swoony YA boarding school dramas in The Keatyn Chronicles, London Prep, Spy Girl, and beyond.
Jill lives in sunny Florida with her husband, while Kenzie lives in Scotland with her husband and family. When they’re not writing across time zones, you’ll find them planning their next adventure or dreaming up lovable stories readers can’t put down.
After reading Season One of Captive Films, I’ve been dying for the second season. Jillian has this way about her stories. They make you crave more. I am so fully invested in this series because it’s about characters I care about. I feel like I know these people.
So what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas… or does it?
No. What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas. And my boy Riley is learning that lesson the hard way. Captive 2.1 focuses on Riley and his escapades, Ariela trying to get it together and move forward, and Vanessa and Keatyn trying to clean up.
After reading this first installment of season 2, I am once again hooked. I can’t wait to see what happens next in the lives of some of my favorite grown up characters from the Keatyn Chronicles!
Things definitely start off with a bang in this first episode of season two of Captive.
If you have been following the series you know that things ended with Riley seeing Ariela with her ex and jumping to conclusions. That jump led to him going to Vegas with Knox, Jennifer and Dawson. Needless to say things have blown up from those choices.
This first installment has set us up for so much for this season. I am so excited! First, that Season Two has started and second with the places things can go with this awesome start. We have the start of Captive’s new show Daddy’s Angel and Jake Worth is coming back. We have the outcome of Riley’s mess to deal with. I especially love that Ariela is standing up for herself and can’t wait to see what happens there.
If you haven’t read Captive Season One, I highly recommend it. This series always leaves me wanting more and I love it. Jillian writes a world that is sexy, smart and addictive. Before I read books like a fiend I used to read gossip magazines, I was completely addicted to following celebrities. This mixes that life and this one, now I get to read about these celebrity characters.
Captive is a spin off of the Keatyn Chronicles. However, in Keaytn Chronicles all the characters are in high school, Captive starts years later and the characters are all adults. You do not have to have read KC to enjoy Captive.
This book is rated 'G' for GOOD! 4.5 STARS out of 5! Genre: Adult Romance
Captive Films 2.1 I shove the divorce papers toward him. “Take these. It’s time you face the facts. We’re getting a divorce. We’re not getting back together, and I’m not coming home!” -Ariela
When Collin comes a knockin, Ariela gives him a knock down two or three pegs letting him know that they are done and her decision is final. His vengeful attitude towards her causes Ariela to plot out her next move to secure her freedom. Meanwhile, a wounded Riley is drowning his sorrows with the help of his big brother and friends in Vegas only what happens in Vegas does NOT appear to be staying in Vegas. A phone call home puts Riley on blast and could possibly do some damage to his career.

My Thoughts Captive Films 2.1 starts off with a bang! Ariela finally seems to be not just fighting back but doing whatever it takes to officially be free of her dirt ball ex Collin. Riley is sinking in quick sand I hope he finds a way out unscathed. Jennifer and Knox…hmmm, could they be headed toward coupledom? I for one hope so!
Appearances by Collin Ariela Chad (massage-giving pool boy) Vanessa Riley Jennifer Dawson Knox Dallas
What readers should know: The Captive Films Episodes are in my opinion a companion to the Keatyn Chronicles. Though you do not have to read it first I recommend you do. The Keatyn Chronicles introduces thee characters in their youth. You get insider info on how bonds and friendships were formed and in some cases torn apart. Readers who decide to read The Captive films episodes first must read them in order. Find Volume 1 with all six episodes here: Captive Films: Season One Buy Link: http://amzn.com/B00QVGSQLW
I have been trying to save these so I could read them all in one go but I kept seeing little comments and my curiosity won out. It was great to catch up with the Keatyn Chronicles crew. Older and wiser in most cases seeing the older versions of the teenagers we grew to know and love was a joy to read and glad to see that they can still have their shenanigans. For fans of the Keatyn Chronicles these are a must read (full review to come)
Don't read any further unless you've read Season 1...
We're back after that unexpected cliffie when Collin and Arelia kiss and it's overseen by a distraught Riley.
Riley runs all the way to Vegas accompanied by Knox, Jennifer and Dawson but their planned fun gets out of hand and as expected, Keatyn has to step in to save the day.
Fans of the Keatyn Chronicles will be delighted to see Jake make a reappearance in Season 2 and I can't wait to see what's happened in his life since they left school.
This series is as addictive as the Keatyn Chronicles. The gang's lives are still full of drama and it is still Keatyn who holds them all together. Despite my love for the original characters, I am rapidly falling in love with the new and new-ish characters aka Knox, Jennifer, Tyler and lastly, Vanessa who only made brief appearances in the Keatyn Chronicles but who has certainly made a name for herself in the Captive Films series so far.
I can't decide who I want to read about the most. I love what's developing between Vanessa and Dawson, I love Knox and Jennifer's quirky relationship, I am crying over Riley and Ariela and I still love Keatyn and Aiden. It's official, I'm obsessed with Captive Films!!!

Follow Jezabell Girl & Friends, for your next hot read!!!
A great start to the next season. What I love about this series is that it is pretty fast paced and reminds me of a drama filled television show. I love how the author is gradually bringing back all the characters from the series that started it all, The Keatyn Chronicles.
This episodes deals with what happens when you assume things instead of sticking around to find out all the facts. After a drunken night in Vegas that Riley, Knox, Dawson and Jennifer partake in they learn the hard lesson that what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas. The shit literally hits the fan!!! The author did a fantastic job blending everything together and so far she had done an amazing job of keeping you glued to your reading device. You honestly have no idea what is going to happen next.
This series has me hooked and is highly addictive. I am totally invested in these characters and series and just can’t get enough. I love Aiden and Keatyn’s relationship. I love the advice Keatyn gets from her grandpa.
“You can’t fix it, Hotshot. He has to. I know he’s your best friend, but this is business. Don’t let your relationship blind you to what’s going on.”
“Your days at Eastbrooke don’t mean shit when it comes to business.”
The series is like crack and I am craving my next dose. I need to know what is going to happen next. How is it going to play out? I am dying to find out how Keatyn is going to fix this mess Riley got into.
I got an ARC copy of The entire Season 2 from my favorite author Jillian Dodd!!
Season 2 picks up right where things ended in the past season with all the what ifs.........
*What will come of Riley and Ariela? *Is love in the air for Dawson and Vanessa? *Can Knox find his true love? *Will we finally get Keatyn & Aiden's wedding? *How many more kids will Dallas have?
Let me just tell you that what you have come to expect from Jillian is what you get and so much more in this installment of Episode 2.1!!
I will just leave you with an image that speaks of what Riley feels for Ariela....
Holy hell. I was literally on the edge of my seat at the end of season 1. I needed answers. I wanted more I was a mess.
Reading Vol 1 (episodes 1 & 2) of season 2 had me falling of my damn chair!! I couldn't read fast enough. How does Jillian do this to me every time? EVERY DAMN TIME?!
I'm so invested in these characters that I just can't get enough. I want to know that everything works out in the end. I want to know "this mess" is going to be cleaned up, and I'm intrigued at how. And will Riley finally pull it together?
When I needed a palate cleanser between heavier reads, I reached for Captive Films 2.1 by Jillian Dodd, and it delivered exactly what I was craving—a fast-paced, drama-filled escape that I devoured in one sitting.
This installment picks up right where the previous book left off, and let me tell you, Knox is making some spectacularly bad decisions. After jumping to conclusions about Ariela (classic Knox), he decides the mature response is to grab his brother and friends for a wild night in Las Vegas to drown his sorrows. Meanwhile, poor Ariela is desperately trying to reach him to explain, but he won't answer his phone. Typical guy move, right? I found myself yelling at the pages, wanting to shake some sense into him.
Of course, what happens in Vegas doesn't stay in Vegas—especially when you're connected to Captive Films. Photos from their debauchery hit the papers, and suddenly everyone is scrambling. Keatyn and Vanessa go into full damage control mode as the board moves to fire Knox, along with JJ and others involved in the company. The mess threatens to unravel everything they've built, with various stakeholders making it nearly impossible for the board to contain the scandal.
Keatyn works her PR magic, spinning the disaster into an opportunity by transforming the scandal into a brand new film project. It's clever, creative, and exactly the kind of solution that reminds you why these characters are so good at what they do.
What I appreciate most about this series is how it scratches that specific reading itch when you want something engaging but not too heavy.
Fair warning though: this book ends on a massive cliffhanger. Just when you think things might resolve, Jillian Dodd pulls the rug out and leaves you hanging. It's simultaneously frustrating and brilliant because you immediately want to grab the next book.
If you're looking for a quick, entertaining read with plenty of drama, romance, and Hollywood intrigue, Captive Films 2.1 hits all the right notes. Just make sure you have the next installment ready to go.
Captive Films: 2.1 is the next installment in the riveting serial by Jillian Dodd. This release includes episode 1 and episode 2 in Season 2. It should not be read as a stand alone or as a starting point for this series. The players have already started the game and are now trying to score their piece of happiness in their world.
Captive Films: Season One ended on a fairly big cliffhanger. Although there are many characters in the cast, Riley Johnson has the leading role. Riley is a powerful executive for Captive Films. His natural instincts, directing talents, and credentials has made him one of the most powerful players in the film industry. It doesn’t hurt that he is under thirty, very good looking, and extremely rich. He has embraced his notoriety and become one of Hollywood’s bad boys with a manwhore reputation. Riley wasn’t always this way. This wasn’t his dream. He wanted to be a successful director with his true love Ariela at his side. She was his first love, his high school sweetheart, and his ultimate downfall.
Ariela has come to California. Riley’s beginning to have hope that maybe they can rekindled their relationship. The only problem is that Ariela is still married. She says she is getting a divorce. He is having a hard time trusting her word. He did it once and it led to heartbreak and despair. When he witnesses Ariela kissing her husband it sends him into a tailspin. His reaction is much more worse than an angry man. He’s reacts like a petulant child by trying to strike out. He heads to Vegas. This time he is taking some friends along for the ride. They say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Not this time, Vegas is going to become an ugly stain that may not be removed.
Movie Stars Jennifer and Knox may lose their leading roles. Riley may lose his position at the studio. Dawson will learn that life is worth participating in once again. Keatyn , Dallas, and Vanessa will have to figure out how to save their friends careers, protect the studio from bad press, plan a wedding, have a baby, and finally find love.
Captive Films is in a mess…. stay tuned for more….
Ok, so it all kicks off again – Season 2 is underway and the shenanigans are just as explosive. God this series looks like it will keep me on my toes. Riley is back and he is just as glorious as he was he was in season one. This sexy man is as powerful as he is handsome but he may have the world at his fingertips but what he want sand what he has are necessarily the same thing. He may have achieved so much more that he could have possibly imagine and while he always knew is future lay behind the camera, he also knew who he wanted by his side – and not having her with him has until now that has been his biggest regret. Ariela was Riley’s first love, but now she has moved to California the chance that they may be able to rekindle something is more than a possibility in his eyes, but all that comes to a screeching halt, when despite the fact that she has told him that she is in the midst of a divorce, Riley sees her in the arms of her husband. He will not be broken again by her and this time he will bring all the fury he can muster to his assistance. Retaliation or retribution be whatever it may, he decides to party her out of his head forever and gathers up his posse of friends and head to Vegas. Has he finally reached his breaking point – is there any coming back for the two of them or will the events that unfold in Vegas leave the door on Riley and Ariela firmly closed? Over and above the whole Riley/Areila situation I have to say the other characters had more than enough in this short story to fill a book of their own. I have grown to like Jennifer and Knox but their future is uncertain and as for Dawson I think I am beginning to turn a corner with the man – he is still a bit of an arse at times but I think he is getting there. And the others have more their own issues to deal with and each and every one of them is finding that life, love and bad press can be a bitch!
Riley Johnson, a CEO for Captive Films has it all: the talent, the good looks, the cars, and the women. What he doesn't have is love. After his high school sweetheart broke his heart by leaving, Riley turned into a manwhore of Hollywood and swore off love for good. With his bad boy reputation, his handsome good looks, and his success women love him, but his heart is still left in the past. When Ariela comes to California saying she is divorcing her husband, Riley has a hard time trusting her and his past with her begins to lead him down a path that could destroy everything he worked so hard for.
Captive Films: Season One ended on a big cliff hanger and Captive Films: Season Two begins right where this cliffhanger left us. Riley lovers were outraged at Ariela hurting Riley (again!) when season one ended. In this first episode we get Ariela's point of view on what happened while Riley nurses his broken heart in Vegas with his brother Dawson along with Knox and Jennifer. How much trouble can these four get in when they hit the city of sin?
In episode two we find out just how much trouble Riley, Dawson, Knox, and Jennifer can get themselves. Although they say what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, this group finds out that that's not the case here. Vanessa, Dallas, and Keatyn join forces to control the bad PR and try to save their friend's careers and only time will tell what happens with them all.
Captive Films: Season Two is another hit from Jillian Dodd. This author never fails to capture our attention just as her characters have stolen our hearts from the very beginning.
Jillian Dodd’s stories are so fun and colorful (literally and figuritively). I’m not a huge fan of serials. One of the reasons being that I just don’t feel like I get a complete story. This is not the case with this serial series. I was engrossed by each episode. They are written just like television shows and I have enjoyed them just the same… anxiously awaiting each new episode. They are short, but full of excitement. It’s been so fun and satisfying being able to sneak in an episode while waiting to pick up my son from school or while cooking dinner.
The characters from the Keatyn Chronicles are grown up and are now living lives as Hollywood’s elite trying to find their place in business and in love. Even though these focus on the characters while they are older, the novellas still have a way of making you feel young and giddy! I can’t get enought :)
This series is full of excitement, secrets, tummy flip-flopping swoon. With multiple pov’s we get more of the roller coaster ride with Riley and Ariella (and her husband), find out what happened to Whitney and what the future holds for Dawson and Vanessa… and of course there is plenty going on with Keatyn and Aiden!
I would recommend reading these as a companion to the Keatyn Chronicles, but I did read Season 1 prior to the final book of the Keatyn Chronicles series and had no problems catching up.
As with the previous season, Jillian Dodd has said she will treat it as a television show and the series continuation depends on readers!!!! With that being said, please note you will get a full story with each season, but you will be dying for the next by the time it ends.
I won the season 2 ARC from Jillian Dodd from her Keatyn Chronicles Group to give an honest opinion.
I'm re reading the KC series now because there was so much that I had missed/forgotten but when winning the damn season 2. Couldn't resist. I LOVE Keatyn, Dallas, Riley and everyone. Love how you get to see your people in the future and not imagine how things would turn out. Because sometimes it does not turn out how you think it would.
"Uncle Cam says if you don't use it will fall off and die. I'm pretty sure he was talking about your heart." Firstly the kids in the book are amazingly funny. Kids say the the damndest things ever. Swear this was my favorite. My favorite moments that prove how much I love it.
1. Vanessa and Dawson 2. Seeing Braxton 3. Hello Gracie with B's cousin and now this new guy. HELLO she's so much like Keats. Can't wait to see that play out 4. Updated Stockholm is awesome. 5. Riley going off the deep end because love isn't always perfect, it can be such a rollercoaster. So glad that you added this in there because love is not perfect. Riley and Areila's story is not over. Your cliffy on that made me gasp. I hit my hand on the bed and everything. My husband may or may not looked at my crazily. 6. Tyler is becoming one of my favorites. 7. Seeing Kym OMG she's married?! 8. The triplets are not so perfect. 9. Gracie acting? I loved it because she was always doing plays.
Idk if I can go on. There better be a season 3. I'm addicted! Chewing on my nails, crazy lazy addicted to the KC CREW. By the way. LOVE baby number 5's name..
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Captive Films Season 1 takes off from where The Keatyn Chronicles ended. Told from multiple points of views, your favorite characters from the Keatyn Chronicles have grown up, and you will see many of them finding love.. It should not be read as a stand alone or as a starting point for this series.
As you know, Captive Films Season 1 was pretty freaking steamy and left us with a big cliffhanger. When we left Season 1....Riley Johnson was hott-headed, and jumping in a plane for Vegas for a "last minute business trip." But unfortunately, what happens in Vegas, doesn't always stay in Vegas. When their actions come back to bite them in the butt, Keatyn and the Captive Films committee must make a difficult decision about the future of Captive Films.
The passion and raw sex is back, as we see many of the characters raising the steaminess to new levels. As Vanessa & Dawson continue their sex-capades, will they be able to break down the barriers to each others heart? And will Ariella be able to let her former life go or will she need to take drastic measures in order to move forward with her life?
New relationships are formed, some are broken, and some are reminisced. Season 2 is a whole new playing field, and the cast has stepped up their game. Be prepared for lots of drama, heart break, and sex!
Review of "Captive Films" (Season 2, Volumes 1-3) By Jillian Dodd
Well, I received ARC's for these three books, in exchange for my honest review. These were the first books that I have read by author Jillian Dodd, and I guess it was my own fault for not knowing her style prior to my investment in this story. There were a lot of main characters and this story is told from all of their points of view. (which must be really hard to write, so awesome job there, Jillian!) It was really confusing and difficult for me to follow in the beginning and I found myself doing some back-tracking to try to remember who was who, probably because I didn't read Season 1 ;-). But, once I got in the groove and knew more of what was going on I really enjoyed it! It was fun and entertaining! When I got to the end I was so excited to see how it turned out. You know, I had all three books, so I thought there would be some sort of a conclusion to it all. Well, there wasn't, and I guess I will have to read the next 3 books to see what happens. I was very disappointed and upset for about 10 minutes. Lol. But, they were good books, and I am sure that I will read the next season as soon as it is available! After all, I really want to know how it all turns out!
This is a collective review for all three volumes in this season
This season continues on from where season one leaves off.
It wouldn't be a Jillian Dodd book without all the ups and downs that the characters from the Keatyn Chronicles being apparent throughout the books.
This series follows an epic night out in Vegas that Riley, Dawson,Jennifer and Knox partake in and the aftermath of this drunken mess!
The books once again alternate in multiple POV which I think is brilliant it's really a fresh way of writing and as a seasoned reader I loved how the individual stories merge together around our favourite book girlfriend Keatyn.
Jillian has added in Keatyn's lil sis Gracie into this season and I think it could lead to something from her in the future.
I just have to say that these books are well worth the read especially if you are a fan of the Keatyn Chronicles, I think Jillian has written these kids that are now adults brilliantly and has made the transition to this part of their lives flawlessly and for an author to develop these characters ten years later to me is no mean feat and I'm still as absorbed with these characters as I was with the original Novels.
I urge any fans of the KK books get these you will not be disappointed.
AHHH, my kindle crack is back and better than ever!!! As you all know I have a slight addiction to everything Keatyn. I would devour each book in the series and anxiously await the next one. Then the series was over and I really didn't know what I was going to do. BUT since Jillian Dodd is BRILLIANT, she took this kindle crack one step further. Hence Captive Films, Keatyn and the gang are all grown up and still causing trouble. Season One was fantastic and I loved the idea that it was a serial comparable to a TV series and it of course left me yearning for more. Now we move on to Season Two, which so far is EPIC! This season is running a little differently, instead of releasing one episode at a time they are coming out in two episode books, which I find to be much better. Gives you just enough more storyline and then BAM you need to come back for more. I love seeing the gang all grown up and in some cases reuniting plus the addition of a few new characters has me giddy. But in true Jillian Dodd fashion you are left at the end of the second episode with a dire need to move on for more!! I will say I think this season is even better than the first so far!!
I’ve always been a huge fan of the Keaton Chronicles from Jillian Dodd and now that gang has all grown up in the Captive Films series I have fallen in love with them all over again! Jillian Dodd has a way of spinning a tale and have it like you are hanging around with your girlfriends chatting instead of reading a novel! What’s even better is Captive Films series are novellas so you do not need to invest hours in reading. You could probably get through one on your lunch hour and feel like you have been taken on a roller coaster ride! I love it and cannot wait to see where the story takes us!
In Captive Films Season 2 episode 1, Ariela must face the fact that her husband who she has thrown away her dreams for has not been faithful to her. She hires a private detective to get the answers she needs. Then there’s Riley. Ariela and him where high school sweethearts, has too much damage already been done?
Stay tuned for the next installment to see what happens next! I’ll be standing by waiting patiently to find out! This series is definitely one of my favorite serial novellas!
This series is highly addictive. It's a read as fast as you can because you need to know what happens but then when your done wish you hadn't have read so fast because your sad it's over.
Season 2 starts where Season 1 left off, a trip to Vegas that leads to all kinds of craziness. Oh Riley sometimes I just want to shake you. I fell a little bit more for Dawson and have come to love Vanessa. Keatyn is her awesome take charge self and we get another character blast from the past.
I absolutely LOVE Captive Films. All our favs from the Keatyn Chronicles are all grown up and getting in all kinds of trouble. It's one of my favorite series and I'm loving the serials right now. I can't wait for more and to see what's going to happen next!!
I absolutely adore this serial series from Jillian Dodd. I am obsessed. With each new release, I feel giddy. I quickly devour the scenes from my favorite characters and I love getting updates on their lives.
With Captive Films, you get everything the author promised. It's like watching a TV show. Each installment picks up where the last left off and then brings the story forward until it reaches a jaw dropping cliffhanger. It's extremely fun and a terrific way to continue a beloved series.
I recommend that you read the Keatyn Chronicles first but you could probably jump into Season One of this serial and be just as addicted to Captive Films. The characters hold your attention and leave you laughing out loud. I love them all and I cannot wait to see where they go next!
Reading this series is like being given a big fat piece of your favourite cake and then being told you can only eat a small slice of it. You gobble it up and then are desperate to have a little bit more.
That's how I feel when I read this series, I always want more because I inhale it so fast it barely touches the sides :)
If you were a fan of the Keatyn Chronicles then this series is a must read as it will bring you to the here and now with all the characters from that series. Keatyn, the God of all Hotties, Dallas, Riley, Dawson, Ariela, Vanessa...
You will need to have read Captive Films season 1 before starting 2.1
Following right on on from the cliffhanger that was the end of season 1, things are about to get down and dirty!
I loved getting back into the world of the Keatyn Chronicles gang. Each little snippet into their lives gets more intriguing.
In this episode, Riley and Ariela's burgeoning new (again) relationship is put to the test. What is going on with Vanessa and Dawson? Does what happens in Vegas really stay in Vegas.
So much going on, so much more I need to know... whap happens next to the Eastbrooke Class of 2004???
These books were unlike anything I had encountered previously... they are set out like a tv series with seasons and episodes which was strange but really good.
I haven't read the Keatyn Chronicles so I wasn't sure what I was getting myself in to and hadn't met the characters before.
I love that you get POV's from each of the characters and each character has their own thing going on so your getting many stories instead of just one.
I am absolutely addicted to these books... I read them one after the other and could have cried when I realised I had read them all and needed to wait for more.
The characters I love most - Riley and Ariela... They're story is definitely my favourite
What happens in Vegas only stays in Vegas if you are not a movie star or prominent executive. Once again Riley needs to GROW up! Honestly I would throw him in rehab or some other kind of clinic because he is horrible!
Still saying you need to read this because if it makes me angry then it is doing it's job! How many times do you watch a show and yell at the TV because a character is not doing what you think they should....that is what I am doing right now during episode 1!
Captive Season 2.1 started with a bang! Seriously! Riley makes me want to bang my head because I'm so frustrated with him! I almost threw my phone reading the first episode.
I love how Jillian Dodd creates a world where her characters feel so real, like they're in your everyday circle of friends and they make bad decisions and you want to smack them into reason, but alas, you cannot. So instead you read every morsel and crumb that is left behind and your literally begging the author on her Facebook page for more! Please!!!!
