Body in the Pool: A Cold Hollow Mystery

Cold Hollow, Alaska is the kind of town where winter lasts half the year, neighbors bring casseroles without being asked, and the local swimming club is the heart of the community.

For Becky, a college freshman working the early morning shift as a lifeguard at the Mountain-View Club, life is keep an eye on the regular swimmers, finish her college classes, and survive another long Alaskan winter.

But one quiet morning, something is terribly wrong.

A longtime member of the club is found dead in the pool.

What first appears to be a tragic accident begins to feel like something else entirely. Small details don’t add up. Familiar faces start behaving strangely. And the more Becky pays attention, the more she realizes that Cold Hollow may be hiding secrets beneath its calm, friendly surface.

In a town where everyone knows everyone, asking questions can be dangerous — especially when the truth might point to someone close to home.

With curiosity, courage, and a lifeguard’s instinct for noticing what others miss, Becky sets out to uncover what really happened before another tragedy strikes.

Body in the Pool is the first book in the Cold Hollow Mystery series — a cozy mystery filled with small-town charm, winter landscapes, and secrets that refuse to stay buried.

When Becky is lifeguarding at the club one of the long time members is found dead in the pool. This seems like an accident at first but Becky thinks there is more to it and starts to uncover secrets in the town. I was pretty confused through throughout the book. There were a lot of side stories that didn’t seem relevant to the mystery. Overall the book was ok.

Great writing with a plethora of mysteries that keep you wanting more even after the book is over (hurry up, book 2!).
Full of sweet relationships, betrayal, second chances, and mysteries, everyday life, and the perfectly captured feeling of meeting Alaska for the first time and continuing to experience its wonders every day.
The characters feel like friends and a few feel like the aggravating acquaintances we all know, making it even more relatable.
