A brand-new Western adventure starring two of the frontier’s most relentless lawmen.
When the Nueces Strip runs red with stolen cattle and murdered hands, two of the West’s hardest lawmen ride into the same deadly storm.
U.S. Marshal Jubal Stone carries a federal warrant that stretches all the way to the Rio. Texas Ranger Dan Burton is hunting the same shadow — a black-clad raider named Ankara who burns ranches, moves stolen herds across the border, and now aims to torch Spofford Junction and its government weapons cache in one final, bloody reckoning.
From the limestone washes of the Nueces to the cedar-choked ridges and the smoke-filled night at the railhead, Stone and Burton forge an uneasy alliance of iron will and cold steel. With the sharpshooting Lee Donovan on the ridge, the big shotgun man Tom Blackwood at their backs, and young Deputy Greer proving his grit, they ride straight into Ankara’s carefully laid trap — where every shadow hides a gun and every second lost means another ranch burned.
Crossfire on the Rio is classic hard-edged Western lightning-fast gunplay, merciless outlaws, and two lawmen who refuse to let the border’s worst predator slip the noose.
Ride with Nash and Mariotte as their greatest characters team up for a mission the size of Texas!
I truly enjoyed this novel by Clem Marriotte, it has plenty of action and great character development. A real page turner. I highly recommend this novel to those who like Classic Westerns.
This time Dan, Lee, and Tom are joined by Marshall Jubal Stone and deputy Greer to go against about forty bad guys. It is a close call and everyone is wounded except for Dan and Lee. Everything works out in the end.
