An overall feline enthusiast, Nico secretly (or not so secretly?) adores Hello Kitty, cat GIFs, spontaneous traveling, pretending to be crafty, emoticons, hot menfolk, and parenthetical statements (not necessarily in that order). FLUFFTASTIC FUN!

~3.5 stars~

You know how some books just sucks you in? This is one of those books.

It's fresh, cute, and readable, and I was pretty much hooked from page 1.

This is not a serious shifter book. Nico Jaye builds some alternate shifter mythology into the story, but the world building is fairly minimal.

Essentially, it's our contemporary world, but humans and werewolves live side by side in peace, although the weres certainly don't advertise their culture or traditions.

Tanner is a 30-year-old werewolf who has yet to find a mate and undergo his First Shift. When he comes to work as a consultant at a publishing house in Chicago, he senses his mate and goes about trying to find him, with rather hilarious results.

It's immediately obvious to the reader who Tanner's mate is. It's just not obvious to Tanner.

When Tanner's quirky assistant Jon disappears for a family emergency, Tanner knows he has to find him.

I liked the sweetness of the story and the whole idea of finding a bonded mate (it's why I read shifter stories in the first place).

This was steamy enough, although not quite as explosive as I expected following the first solo masturbation scene. Tanner gets bonus points for some serious wolfy creativity!

I'm not sure the plot point regarding Jon's mom was necessary. This is such a low-key story that the action at the end felt, to me at least, like it didn't quite belong.

Even so, I greatly enjoyed this book; it was a light, easy read!

That's right, peeps.

It's a sexy shifter story by Nico Jaye.

Not my favorite Nico Jaye story, but a predictably cute one.

The world building... meh. We know that people learn about shifters in school but the extent of which is not clear. There is a lot of ambiguity there, and I felt like that could have been tightened up a great deal.

We know from the blurb that Tanner (our alpha shifter) ends up with his assistant, Jon. For some reason (I'm not sure what), Tanner can sense that his mate is near but not when he is right in front of him? It was amusing, but incredibly frustrating, to see Tanner go on bad date after bad date when Jon was right in his face, looking and seeming perfect! I wanted to bonk him over the head many, many times.

Most of the story up to this point was really cute, fluffy, easy reading. However, the end of the book went a little... sideways. There was a strange side story with warlocks or demons or something, and Jon's sordid dating history, and I felt like the story lost its focus. I didn't enjoy the end of the book as much, and though the story was still pleasant overall, it wasn't a WOW read for me.

For some completely bizarre reason, this light, enjoyable novella reminded me a bit of a Cinderfella re-write of a chick flick about searching the kingdom (or in this case, your new workplace) for your soul mate (or again in this case, your were-Alpha Mate). Yes, I know I'm weird and you wouldn't be the first to think that, but I digress.

In this tale, the handsome prince is played by Tanner, a successful 30 year old publisher and temporary transplant from LA to Chicago. And, oh yeah, he's also is a latent werewolf, by which I mean that he was born a werewolf, but he isn't truly an actual werewolf just quite yet.

In this tale, where a lot of creative license was used in the field of traditional werewolf lore, one doesn't become an actual wolf until after you knot with your true mate. Think something along the lines of "true love's first kiss" from Shrek. "Fuck me, 'O-face', *POOF*, woof woof."

So upon Tanner's arrival at the small Chicago publishing house, his 'Spidey Senses' immediately fire off like bottle rockets and he just *knows* that his true mate is in the house. And he couldn't be more overjoyed, because at 30 and unmated, he's fast approaching werewolf Old Maid status.

His only teeny problem though is that, while he knows that Cinderfella is close, he has zero clue as to who said man (or woman) of his dreams actually is. So, like Santa Claus, he makes a list and checks it twice (times about a hundred) of unmarried, unattached co-workers, both male and female, with whom he works. (As, evidently, gay or straight doesn't really come into play regarding whom 'The Mother' chooses to be your mate.)

Tanner then begins working his way through the list by going on "dates" with each listee. But since he's effectively one of the bosses and would prefer not to attend a big ole' come to Jesus meeting with Human Resources, he calls them outside-of-work "appointments" with his unsuspecting co-workers / perspective mates.

But date after date, each appointment turns out more like an episode of that truly heinous Jerry Springer game show 'Baggage' (think "I'm a militant vegan who loves tube steak") than actually succeeding in finding the recipient of his particular glass slipper. Yes, I'm going for high bizarre reference count here, people, so work with me. : )

And exactly like your keys when you're already late for work, Tanner's beau is in the last place he looks. Or for Tanner, directly outside his office door in the form of his mind-bogglingly adorable bespectacled, strawberry blond, Snickers-addicted assistant, Jon.

Tanner is literally over the moon (sorry, were-pun intended); however, hours later Jon has fled the state and is somewhere around 1,000% incommunicado. For days. And Tanner is going out of his everlogin' mind, so he must track Jon down before the next full moon, when his biological were-clock stops ticking. FOR-EV-ER. "Game over, man! Game over!!!"

The book is super crazy fluffy, so of course both MC's are utterly adorable and, other than a serious bit of cluelessness on Tanner's part, nearly without flaw, which is nice when a lot of reads are full on walking and talking Angst-O-Matic infomercials. "It slices, it dices, it'll leave your heart in shreds. Call now!"

Then the story takes us over the hills and through the woods, to Jon's parent's house we go, (Wow, I worked in an actual Little Red Riding Hood wolf reference, go me!) as Tanner pursues, then woos his true mate into a very-willing submission.

Then there's some really off-kilter stuff about warlocks, curses, sick mothers and a DemonWolf. I can only chalk that stuff up to Niko Jaye's drugs being *waaaaay* better than mine. But whatevs, go Ms. Jaye!

I must admit that those odd bits seemed a tad out of place with the storyline as written up to that point and felt kind of felt like trying to add that 37th piece of flair to your vest, ala "Office Space", so I could have really done without such a departure from the original direction and venturing toward The Land of the Lost.

In the end, the boys get their big, hairy, throbbing and *knotted* HEA, so all is once again right in the were-world. Aaaaaand scene.

The short book was pretty decent, but not earth-shattering, so if you're in the mood for a bit-o-fluff, this book might be a good candidate.

3 1/4 "pillow-loving=please-don't-ask" stars this time 'round.

A year ago, I didn't know shifter novels existed. Then, when I discovered them, I swore that I'd never read them. In fact, I gave anyone who did read them some serious crazy eyes (who wants to read about animals getting it on?!). But eventually, my GR friends wore me down with book recommendations and promises that I would love them. I caved and agreed to read one book. Just one. Of course *cough* one book became dozens (you know how it goes) and the rest, as they say, is history...

So when I heard that one of my favourite authors of books so fluffy you just want to hug and squeeze and love them for ever and ever and ever was writing a shifter novel, I couldn't wait to read it. And I wasn't disappointed. He's Just Knot That Into You was a sweet, creative take on the typical shifter/fated-mate romance novel.

The new elements Nico adds to the growing shifter mythology with this book made the whole thing feel fresh and kept me turning the pages to see what else she would come up with. I was also totally drawn into the secondary plot involving Julia and wondered how it would resolve itself (I didn't see the ending coming at all, fyi). And, while I enjoyed Tanner, it was the slightly dorky, 100% sweet, virgin ginger shifter with a major penchant for Snickers bars, Jon, that stole the show for me. He was just so dang cute (apparently I'm a sucker for a man who blushes easily).

The only thing that made this a 3-star read for me (as opposed to a 4-star) was that it didn't quite hit the emotional highs for me the way that I was hoping it would. The story was sweet and sexy and dramatic, but each of those elements was just a hair shy of having the impact that I was looking for - it was like the dial was on 8 instead of 10.

Still, there was so much to recommend about this book, that I hope you'll give it a shot when you're looking for something low-angst that puts a smile on your face and a glow in your heart when you're finished with it.

I loved this! Of course I loved this! I had a hand in the making of this story. When Nico told me she was writing a shifter story and asked what I would like to see in it I told her KNOTTING! and MPREG! Well, I got both (more the knotting than mpreg, but I'm ok with that) and more! I loved all the cluelessness and the endless dates Tanner went on to try and find out who his mate was. And his first shift! I will never look at mashed potatoes the same way again. o_O.

Jon was perfect. Tanner was perfect. Everyone was perfect. Except for Dale. Dale was an ass. Full Disclosure: Everyone should read this smufftastic little love story about a boy and his, er, werewolf.

This was a fun, flufftastic M/M shifter romance!

I really liked the mythology the author created/invented for this novella, including Alpha wolves and Alpha Mates, and humans aware of Lycans, witches and warlocks and magic, and KNOTTING! Knotting, people!!

Tanner is at 30 years old still waiting for that elusive Alpha Mate. Meeting him or her will set off his First Shift, and he's been waiting a long time. Shortly after starting a new job at a company in Chicago, Tanner finally finds his mate, except he doesn't quite know who it is. So he makes a list.

I giggled and groaned a lot at Tanner's obliviousness, because it's rather clear to the reader just who the mate is, but Tanner forges ahead with his head up his ass, checking off each potential candidate with a date.

There's a scene early on, during Tanner's first shift, that had me applauding (and slightly cringing) at the inventive use of mashed potatoes. I don't think I'll ever look at taters the same way again.

What stood out for me most was the heavy amount of emotions Nico Jaye infused in this book. Once Tanner figures it out and puts a name with his mate, there's not a single doubt that he's completely head over heels, always putting the needs of his mate first, even denying himself if it means making his mate happy.

There's little conflict between Tanner and Jon, and their relationship develops easily and organically. Even if it takes Tanner some time to see what's right in front of him, and even if Jon keeps his true nature secret.

The side story with Jon's mother and the curse and the evil demon was perhaps a little too far out, but it did cement the message that the mating bond supersedes everything else, and added to the romantic and emotional feel of the story.

Also, KNOTTING!! Need I say more? I'm just fascinated by this special thing. It made the mating bond even more romantic.

While Tanner's solo time was perhaps higher on the hotness scale than the mating scene, it was nowhere near the emotional scale of the latter, something that's more important to me than the act itself. Tanner was solicitous and so aware of Jon's needs and concerns, and I appreciated that. It spoke of his feelings toward his mate, of the need to ensure that Jon was first and foremost getting what he wanted and needed. That's what I expect from a shifter novel, and that's what I got here. I even saw his early feedings of Jon (actual lunch instead of the ever-present Snickers) as an indication of Tanner's devotion, even if Tanner didn't yet realize it. Cleverly done by the author, without making Tanner look like a bumbling fool.

Yeah, it's a little on the fluffy side. So what? This is the kind of novel you read when curled up in your favorite chair. It gives you all the 'awww' moments you need every so often, and it will make you smile when you're done reading.

If I had to niggle about something, I'd mention that comparing a wolf to a feline was probably not the best choice, but that was one sentence, and the only time I actually questioned something in this book. Even the inclusion of Jon's ex didn't feel out of place to me. Can't say more without spoiling things.

It fully met my expectations, and I really liked it. Give it a shot, would ya?

He’s Just Knot That Into You is such a fun read! This is a really nice shifter series with bonded mates (love those!) and some different shifter mythology.

Tanner and Jon were really sweet together. I loved how obvious is was who Tanner was looking for yet he didn’t. I also like that he felt something toward Jon before he finally realized what we knew all along. It made me root for them even more.

I love how Tanner was willing to go slowly for Jon. He wanted him, but he was willing to restrain himself so Jon would be comfortable for his first time. That made this couple even more lovable for me. And it definitely gave me those warm and fuzzy feelings. Though I did love it when they finally got to that point.

I loved both Tanner and Jon’s families. Both were really awesome and really nice and supportive.

The plot with Jon’s mom made it a little more serious. But I liked that. It worked pretty well for me personally.

This is sweet, but not unbearably so. I think shifter fans who like the whole bonded mate thing will like this, even if they don’t particularly like a lot of sweetness. It’s definitely a story I would recommend if you want a fun, sweet read because honestly, it was so close to perfect for me and I loved the sweetness and the characters and I still have those warm fuzzy feelings after finishing.

Strong 4.5 stars!

Sweetest shifters, EVER!!!!

This is my second, oops make that third read by this author. I know, I know I'm behind in my reading. Ok now that we have that out of the way in the interest of full disclosure Nico and I have been friends on GR and here BL for a while. In case you missed that in my review of 'Different Strokes' one of Nico's earlier books. So if you think that my review is based on friendship and not what I honestly thought of this book, please feel free to move on at this point. My feelings are good.

Now here's what I'm thinking. I loved this book it was so incredibly sweet with a touch of different. Tanner and Jon were simply adorable together and well the sex was pretty hot too. I couldn't decide if I wanted a cold shower or a cigarette after some of it.

'He's Just Knot That Into You' had a slightly different twist to the shifter mating issue but not so different that I had trouble getting my mind around it and believing it. There were some very entertaining moments...note to Tanner, when ordering things on-line and having them delivered to your place of employment you might want to wait until you get the parcel home to open it. You could save yourself a whole lot of embarrassment, just sayin' dude, it's worth considering...

'He's Just Knot That Into You' was fun, it was light, low angst with a twist of different and after having read a couple of books that were a bit on the longer side the length of this story worked well for me also at just around 125 pages, not too short but not to long either.

I really enjoyed this story. Tanner and Jon are just freakin' adorable. I'd be happy to read more of them or if there are any other shifters floating around in that lovely imagination of the authors that would be good too.

Perhaps a bit simplistic, this had a different take on werewolf lore and destined mates, with the added bonus of KNOTTING.

Tanner is clueless regarding who his true mate is, but once he gets his head out of his ass, he turns into an awesome, protective, sexy alpha.

Jon is perfectly perfect and his sweet, shy nature endearingly matches Tanner wonderfully.

Not exactly what I expected but still an easy, sexy read.

Well, this was… a bit different..

He punctured the pillow with his claw. He stalked to the kitchen to take the container of mashed potatoes from the hot pot and filled the hole he’d created with the soft, warm paste. With a groan, he fell on his stomach onto the sofa, slotting his cock into the crevice of warmth he’d created.

I was wondering why this book has such a low average rating and now I know, it wasn’t that good. It wasn’t bad either, just strange.

Werewolves are out. Everyone knows about them and the first shift will only happen when one finds his mate.

Tanner is a werewolf who has just started working for a new company. On his first day he feels his mate works there too, even though he cannot pinpoint who it is yet.

It turns out to be his adorable assistant Jon. Jon is , and even though he understands the importance of the mating ritual, he wants to take things slow because of a horrific experience in his past. Which he seemed to get over real quick! Of course dick heals everything.

description

These guys had to complete the mating ritual (you know I mean, hot humping man on man action) within a week, so what was all this talk about taking it slow? What’s wrong with just jumping each other?

Apparently Jon is happy with the way Tanner is taking things slow, even though only a few days pass. Okay, fine by me!

Oh, just so you know, the mating ritual turned out to be wolf on wolf action instead of man on man. I don’t know how I’m supposed to feel about that.

description

Overall, this was weird and a bit confusing. And I will never look at mashed potatoes the same way again.

Sigh, sigh, sigh. Review soon. X

When I heard my favourite smuff author was writing werewolves and knotting I was super excited. I was expecting super hot fluffy-smuffy goodness and I was not at all disappointed. To say I spent a happy afternooon reading this would be an understatement.

Nico has such a knack of writing sweet without stepping so much as a little toe on cavity territory, this combined with her smokin' nookie scenes and werewolves was such a fantastic mixture. He's Just Knot That Into You is the knickerbocker-glory of smuffy-werewolves.

Tanner starts at his new job and experiences his inner wolf awakening, a sure sign his mate is near. At the next full moon he manages a full transformation - and I swear, next time I have a werewolf to tea, mashed potatoes are going on the menu! So, after 30 years, he's in the vicinity of his mate - trouble is he needs to figure out exactly who it is and there are only four weeks until the next full-moon.

In a comedy of not-quite dates and slow realisation of who his mate is the story unfolds. The cutest (plus sexy) romance ensues...with just a little trouble thrown in!

I just...I think everyone should read this. It's the kind of story that is read in one sitting with a silly grin permanently etched onto your face. Also, Lori's Grotto...I'd so go there if it was a real place. Great name, don'tchya think??

Apparently this is a story with M-preg possibility. I didn't see that coming! (I should've realized that with the "knot" in the title... Or not.)

The theme being an alpha wolf in heat looking for his mate (here, an alpha wouldn't take on the full wolf body until they found their true mate) I wouldn't be surprised when there was smutty smex aplenty. But not what I found here. Nuh-uh.
THIS... was so surprising, with some "eeew" while reading. And I thought I'd get passed any eewy-scenes.

The banter and camaraderie between Tanner and Jon were sort of cute, both obliviousness exasperating though. Also the way the alpha wolf behave... I found it lame. Major turn off!!
So no. I'll just put this away on the "Not-for-me" shelf.

2.5 stars Eh. My first issue with this story was probably the world building, or lack thereof. We're told that werewolves have been 'out' since they fought in the Civil War, and that humans learn some basics about werewolves in school... and that's about it. Otherwise, the world seems completely unaffected by it. Despite the fact that it seems the mating bond supersedes privacy laws.

I'm okay with this in general, but the problem is that I couldn't get a feel for this universe. It seemed, initially, like being a werewolf had very little effect on ones daily life. But then by the end all of a sudden there are wizards and demonwolves and poisonous silver, oh my! Each new piece of information about this world is given only as it comes up in relation to Jon and Tanner, so it feels like the author was in the middle of the book and thought, "I need some magical mayhem, I've decided this world has wizards too so I'll just add one here." It didn't feel consistent or natural.

But whatever, because romance, right? Well, the blurb and the title both imply a little bit of a chase that was not delivered. It's never explained why Tanner was reluctant to add Jon to his List of potential mates. Jon seemed to be the only person he really talked to at the office, and they joked/flirted/laughed a lot, so what's the problem? It was literally never addressed. So the first third of the book is Tanner stressing about finding his mate and going on boring/terrible dates, all the while ignoring the obvious answer for no apparent reason except to create an actual story.

And I'm not generally one to complain about insta-love, but I really didn't feel any connection between these two guys. Yes they got along as friends initially, and that was fine. But then it was all, "Oh, we're Mates, I guess I love you" and "I'm so blessed to have such an amazing Mate." Also, given that Tanner's First Shift and accompanying solo masturbation scene was so over the top as to be kinda silly , when the actual sex occurred it was sorta lackluster.

Lastly, I'm all for Jon being a virgin, but seriously with that back-story?! I actually groaned out loud, just one more thing in the list of out-of-nowhere information that only serves to progress the plot. And despite knowing it was coming, I was still disappointed to see the oh-so-obvious attempt at a full circle that really made no sense

I feel bad, because I've liked other things I've read by Nico Jaye, but this really did not work for me on so many levels.

A werewolf who doesn’t shift until he meets his mate? And when he’s met him or her, doesn’t know who it is when back in human form? A werewolf who is as clueless as the rest of us until he is mated and gets his wolf senses even in human form? That is bound to lead to some errors, misunderstandings, and general confusion—and that’s exactly what this story is all about. Both main characters are clueless, and I have to blame most of their antics for the first half of the book on some sort of hormone overload. I mean, even a human would not miss all the signals they’re both giving off… At least I don’t think so. Nevertheless, once I had accepted the “rules” of this supernatural world, I was able to lean back and thoroughly enjoy Tanner’s and Jon’s fumbling to find “the one” for them.

Tanner knows the moment he starts his new job that he’s found his mate. But since his human senses can’t identify him or her, and his wolf senses don’t come in until he is mated, he has a problem. He starts a search by dating the men he suspects might be it for him, only for each one to drop off the radar rather quickly. The solution is too obvious (at least I thought so), and I had great fun seeing Tanner run in circles and missing all the clues. When he finally does figure it out, it is almost too late. And then all sorts of mayhem starts happening, making for a very tense second half of the book. All in all, this was a great mix of humor, a tender romances, and some surprising evil trying to make everything undone.

If you’re looking for werewolf alphas of a different kind (i.e., without a testosterone overload), if two clueless men trying to understand what the heck is going on sounds like fun, and if you’re looking for a cute, humorous read with lots of sweet romance and a touch of the supernatural, then you will probably like this novella.

Nico Jaye does a wonderful job of creating the magical world for this novel. My only complaint, while the title is extremely clever, it literally has nothing to do with the story lol.

4 star review by Vicki

What a cute story! The title caught my attention, then the sweet werewolves on the cover sealed it for me!

This story has a very different and creative take on the standard werewolf mythology. Wolves don’t shift until they have been exposed to their mate. There are also two types of shifts, sort of a partial shift into a human/wolf hybrid, and a shift into a full wolf form. There seem to be lots of alpha wolves, I couldn’t quite get that part, they don’t seem to be pack alphas, just strong wolves. They also produce a knot when mating with their fated mate, which I have seen occasionally in shifter books, and I think is kind of cool. I swear there was the mention of a pregnant male at the beginning of the book, but it went by fast!

So Tanner is an alpha wolf, but doesn’t have a mate. He’s thirty, much older that is common for a wolf to find a mate, and he’s getting a bit desperate. He takes a job in Chicago, at a small book publishing company, hoping to find his mate in a new city. After his first day at work he begins to have dreams that indicate he may have found his mate. The problem is he doesn’t know who it was! So he goes on a hunt to find his mate…. He makes a list of all of the men in his office and invites them out to determine which is his mate. Meanwhile, it’s pretty obvious to us who is mate is, I couldn’t figure out why Tanner was so blind actually. But he eventually figures out his mate is right under his nose the whole time! Unfortunately his mate has vanished! Jon has gone home to deal with a family crisis, not knowing that he’s left his mate behind… Off Tanner goes on a quest to find his mate, and we get a nice little bit of romance in the woods, but a dose of family drama.

I enjoyed this story quite a bit! It’s a clever take on the typical werewolf story, and I loved Tanner and Jon. There was just enough drama with Jon’s family to keep me interested, I liked his families inclusion in the story. It was not a complex plot, it could have been more exciting, and there were times I wish there had been more of an explanation about why things were happening. But overall it was a good basic story. There was a scene at the beginning involving the use of a pillow and mashed potatoes that had me laughing out loud! I loved the bond that forms between Tanner and Jon, first as co-workers, then as friends, and finally mates. Jon is virginal and sweet, Tanner is patient and kind. I liked the characters, I liked the plot, and the writing was good, I’ve read a couple of books by Nico Jaye, and I’ve enjoyed them. This was a nice evening read for me, I was very happy with it.

Cute MCs (though I would have loved Jon's POV), and I liked the world the author was building. It's one where humans are aware of shifters' existence, and shifters don't fully shift until they meet their mates. It's the shifter equivalent of the ticking biological clock.

Tanner is 30, and he's beyond ready to meet his mate. He moves to Chicago for a new job and is overjoyed to sense the presence of his mate. No spoiler to say it's his assistant Jon (it's in the blurb which is a little misleading). But for a reason I didn't understand, Tanner doesn't recognize quirky Jon as his mate (until all of a sudden, he does). Before that though, we have to sit through a series of "disastrous" dates that go for humor but don't quite reach it.

Then the book takes off in a direction that left me more confused and bored. Something about demon werewolves or something. There were some sweet moments of Jon and Tanner before that though. It's instalove (it's a shifter book after all), but they do make some effort to get to know each other. Those moments and the interesting world building make the book worth a read.

Tanner moves to Chicago and immediately feels the pull of his mate. However, things aren’t like they are with other shifter-lore. He doesn’t have any extra-sensory abilities to perceive his mate other than a vague sense of “rightness” when they meet. So he does a little experimenting, knowing that only skin on skin contact with his mate had to have occurred on the day before his first shift, so he arranges to carefully meet with each male that he had contact with that first day.

Jon is Tanner’s assistant and he gets roped into helping Tanner arrange these meetings.

It doesn’t take a genius to realize that Jon is Tanner’s mate and eventually he figures this out.

Unfortunately, by the time he figures it out the clock is ticking and he has only a week left to claim Jon or else they will both forever forfeit their ability to fully turn into wolves AND Jon is missing AND Jon’s mother has been cursed by an evil warlock AND did I mention the clock is ticking?!

**
This is a very clever and somewhat unique take on shifter lore. There is some pretty hot pre-mate self-sexy times and then when the two do finally mate it’s very sweet and plenty sexy as well.

The paranormal stuff was interesting – the Grimoire, the warlock, the rules, etc. I love when the shifters actually shift and act “wolfy” and they do that a bit in this book.

I was on pins and needles waiting for Jon and Tanner to finally mate, and was a bit confused as to the hold up… but they when they do figure it out it’s lovely.

I wish it had been a bit longer once he’d figured out Jon was his mate and maybe a bit thinner in the before part, but that’d be my only complaint.

The story captures your attention right away and never lets up, definitely a good read for fans of shifters.

(As a side note, without sounding too judgemental… if I hadn’t read the blurb I’d have skipped this book based on the cover – it’s so cheesy! The name doesn’t really relate to the story AT ALL and that threw me at first, but the story itself makes up for these issues.)

I want to say that I really enjoyed He’s Just Knot That Into You for the most part. It was fun, cute, humorous and entertaining. Tanner was so earnest and eager to finally find his mate and Jon was adorable. I loved that Tanner had no angst as to whether his mate would be male or female. It seemed as though it didn’t matter at all in this world. The romance was sweet and the story flowed along easily.

Until the conflict at the end… It came out of left field and left behind a lot of questions that I can’t ask as it would result in spoilers. It seemed manufactured simply to give action and drama to the book without a real reason for it to exist. As well there were few little details that were dropped in the story that were given no explanation, even though the implications affected the couple. Things such as the possibility of mpreg. I also don’t think the title fits the book at all as, despite the blurb’s line “Is it really Jon’s family crisis pulling him away, or is Jon just not that into him?”, Tanner never thought that and Jon never acted hard to get. The “Knot” part is cute, as there is a wonderful knotting scene, but really that is all that ties it to the book.

This isn’t to say that I didn’t love Tanner and Jon together or as people; I did, very much. They were great characters and I loved their time together. I also was intrigued with the mythology of the world and how fated mates worked. The author obviously put time in thinking about how she wanted her werewolves to be.

I do recommend story if you’re in the mood for a fun shifter book and you can suspend your belief at the end.

4 Unique Stars! Mashed Potatoes will Never be the same!!

This is a unique play on the shifter world, Nico Jaye has taken all that we know about Shifters and mixed it up a little, making for a fun book! Tanner, he has just moved to Chicago for a new job when it happens -- his long awaited, like 30 years long -- first shift! What does this mean for a wolf-shifter in Nico Jaye's world? Well it means his mate is someone he has recently met - now all he has to do is figure out who it is by the next full moon. Jon is Tanner's assistant and he is helping Tanner arrange a series of dates - Jon doesn't know that Tanner is trying to find his mate, he only thinks Tanner is on a bit of a dating binge.

As each date becomes a disaster and the next full moon is closing in on them, Tanner is getting frustrated. If he doesn't find his mate he will be stuck and never fully shift into the Alpha male he is meant to be.. but he just can't figure out who it is.. as he goes into work one day to brainstorm with his assistant he comes to find out that his Assistant is gone - gone away on a family emergency and with less than a week before the full moon, Jon is out of options. Then it clicks. His Mate.. he has to get to his mate.. he must find Jon!

Tanner drives to where Jon is and shows up on his doorstep only to be welcomed by Jons parents and Jon who recognizes him for what he is, a shifter -- how does he recognize him? Well Jon is a shifter too! Jon is Tanners Mate. Now to only convince the eccentric man to mate with him before the full moon.. if Tanner can't convince Jon then they will both be stuck.

Come join the world of shifter with Author Nico Jaye.. and watch Tanner enjoy his mashed potatoes in a very unique way!!

I had chosen this book as one of my prizes during MM Celebration Week. I just forgot to review it.

Tanner lives in a world where you don't experience your first shift until you met you mate. If you don't figure out who it is and do the full mating ritual in time, you will never be able to do a full shift.

Tanner moved to the city to a new job and experiences his first shift. Now, he is on the countdown to the next full moon to meet them again and (hopefully) they will want to accept being his mate.

He composed a list of everyone he had been in contact with and he got his assistant to set him up on dates with these men. Jon is fun, caring and Tanner really likes being around him.

It was predictable on who Tanner's mate is but Tanner is clueless. Just clueless. It's right in the front of his face the entire time and when something drastic has to happen before it smacks him in the face.

The story was alright. I liked the 'shifting' as a sign you came in contact with your mate. I liked the story had a HEA.

This was okay. The writing was decent but there was a little too much telling for my taste. I usually enjoy destiny-themed plots a lot more, but Tanner was a little too slow on the uptake and the MCs getting together felt sort of anticlimactic to me. Not to mention that there were a lot of paranormal things introduced in the last 10-15% or so, with dramatic rescue scenes and what not. It's not the first book by this author that I didn't particularly enjoy so I'm thinking Nico Jaye isn't to my taste. Plenty of people quite enjoyed reading this and other books by this author, however, so it's probably a case of it's not you, it's me.

Well, that was a bit of a different take on shifter tales. It had a bit of a slow start for me, and Tanner really was an idiot for a while, but it picked up and I enjoyed it, overall. And I will never look at mashed potatoes the same way again.
