There are things that exist that cannot be explained or comprehended. Creatures so terrifying that the human mind refuses to believe the possibility of existence. Romanticism of evil can only get you so far—dead.

The stories are there throughout history. The proof is not. At least…until now.

We’re here, moving amongst the shadows. Living beneath the homes and streets you believe are safe. You are not safe. You never were. All the times you looked over your shoulder because you felt you were being watched—hunted—you were.

I am Marko Delacroix and I am not redeemable. None of us are. I am a Master Vampire and the worst kind of man there is alive or dead. I will make you fear me, want me, and then then I will kill you. It is the nature of who we are. Of the game. And yes, to us, this IS a game.

Man versus the undead. The undead versus ourselves.

In a new world of change and acceptance, no one is safe. But they don’t know that yet.

**WARNING** This book/series is DARK. If you're looking for a happily ever after from the first book, this book is NOT for you. Although there are romantic elements building for further into the series, you will not be swept off your feet by the last sentence. You will most likely be left open-mouthed, cursing me to hell and back.

**WARNING #2: This book contains adult content, very graphic violence, disturbing situations, and very strong language. Intended for mature audiences.

4.25 "intense urge to bond or kill" stars

Well, all I can say right now is …whoa! It's no secret I love vamps and I'll read just about anything with them in it…LOL And then I just flip when it happens I stumble upon a little gem vamp book!

So I have met…him

I am Marko Delacroix and I am not redeemable. None of us are. I am a Master Vampire and the worst kind of man there is alive or dead. I will make you fear me, want me, and then then I will kill you. It is the nature of who we are. Of the game. And yes, to us, this IS a game.

Yes, well let's just say he didn't exaggerate either. That's what he truly is…a dark, intense creature of the night. A hunter, the soul essence craver, a passionate stealer of life, a ruthless killer and an excruciatingly intense lover…he takes lives, drains them dry without mercy or any second thought cause it's his nature.
And he doesn't fight it…he makes it even pleasurable for when the flashes of light slowly disappear in front of the lives he takes…and then everything unexpectingly changes for him when he sees…her.

Tessa.
His next prey.

So here it all begins…the intensity of the blood pull they both share…
the hate and „pushed“ tainted love they feel…and are both fighting it.

Marko for the logical reasons known to a superior spieces and Tessa for the inferiority and degrading notion that she's merely his food…to take, devour, pleasure, enjoy, taste and satisfy.
Marco was nothing more than a dealer, serving me false emotions with ecstasy-doused injections. Poison to my heart. Addiction for my soul. And I was eating it up with all the desperation of a junkie.

And Marko can't resist her. She's somehow different in taste…in everything. She even surprises him with her resilience and defiance. Nobody ever succeeded in doing that. His blood and essence makes her „love“ him…hell, that's what he does to them all, and yet this time it's different. And Marko is stunned and somewhat confused cause the pull of the blood in him make him crave for more that just satisfying the hunger, it's a bond he's reluctant to make and yet he can't help himself. He repeatedly announces to Tessa his intentions of killing her. But it somehow seems like he's saying it out loud every time to convince himself.

And that is the ultimate outrage…he's a killer…but now, all he wants is to „own“ her…
Even though he craved to kill me more than anything, he wanted to keep me, too.

Each time he drinks her, he stops at the brink of her lifeline…and that is the ultimate love he feels and is shocked by it. Cause his kind kills and eats their food, they hunt it...it's in their nature, they don't feel any affection for it…other than making them their slaves…therefore a constant food available… and yet Tessa makes him brake his own natural rules over and over again.
It's a constant fight – passion/hate, doubt/passionate hate/crave, lust/love…denial
Either I die, or we bond. Neither of us wants either one.
Wrong. I don't lose.

 photo SLIKAMARKO_zpsseqlnr1p.jpg

This game of hate/lust/passion/blood love makes then both crazy, obsessive, posessive, clouded in judgement and yet they keep fighting it…in a relentless battle of bodies vs. minds.
The obsession may fade, but you still belong to me. If you live, you'll always be mine. I won't share. Not for anyone.

Kill me…Kill me right now. I will not live a life that revolves around you. I choose my death for me. Not you.

The more he drinks her the mental connection they share is stronger by the minute, he can call her and she WILL come. He can command and she WILL obey. But he also gets the insights into her most hidden parts of her soul, her entity, her past, her life as she knows it belongs to him…whether she likes it or not, whether she wants it or not
I see you. The real you. The Tessa no one else knows, who you try never think about. The one you've denied this whole time. I want to bring her out. To explore every dark fantasy she's ever had.

We – humans – were blind to the true evil surrounding us. We were the light. Where we gave and loved…others, like Marko, thrived in the darkness of taking.

Marko is infatuated with every bit of her essence…each part of it…he's fallen into his own trap set out the catch the pray.
„I'm afraid you may have won the love part of our game. I think mine for you may far exceed your for me.“

And Tessa has fallen even though she still wants to fight, she's defiance inpersonified…and yet she gives him the ultimate decision. He has her life in his hands…he „owns“ her…he has her heart…whether it's initiated/poisoned with the blood link…
she's marked herself with the truest words ever…
Love you to death.

So when the last curtain of pretence and denial for both of them falls down…the different kind of battle is about to start…

 photo marko2_zps712xxgoz.jpg

Love ME to death.

You're mine. I won't let you go. From here on out, we're blood bound. Forever tied to one another until I decide otherwise.

 photo marko3_zpsswn4ipg5.jpg

To be continued…

I very much liked this story. I felt it was somewhat different in the way it was presented and the writing style was so fluent…
There was a lot of description in the book, mostly of how the characters felt, thought, communicated without spoken words…and as much as it was intresting in being a different kind of passionate exchange between Marko and Tessa, at times it felt a bit „too much“ and therefore making me to step back for a sec or two…
Nevertheless, I wanna see Tessa's life changing…I wanna see Marko's downfall to the love pit LOL, but maybe that's just me wishing…*wink*

This one was a challenge to get through. First things first: EDITING, EDITING, EDITING! I'm willing to overlook a couple problems here or there but damn. There must have been a mistake on every damn page! Even a chapter was numbered wrong. How the fuck does shit like that even happen?!?

Next, the overall story I feel had promise, but it was so badly written I just didn't care anymore. How can I when every time I'm reading a sentence it has something to do about killing or dying or death...Fucking ad nauseam with the fucking threats already. Didn't connect with any of the characters and IMO there were just too many issues other than the poor editing that I couldn't get into this one. At all.

Marco gave Tessa some of his blood against her will. It wasn't enough for a bond, but they had a connection. He urged her to have sex which she really didn't want. She did want it because of his blood. So it's still rape IMO. They have this weird love hate relationship. Marco was an asshole. His only remotely redeeming quality was his concern for Tessa. It's not like he really went out of his way to put her desires above his own.

Tessa's best friend Hunter who was in love with her was determined to kill Marco. He just seemed like a psycho. He was scarier than the vampires. I really didn't like him. His role gave the story a love triangle vibe. It wasn't really one since Tessa didn't reciprocate his feelings, but it was annoying.

Then some other vampires began to have larger roles. Tessa trusted them for no fucking reason although they were obviously using her for something. Once she was around the other vampires, they were all attracted to her. I hate stories where the female lead is desired by everyone. At that point I decided this book isn't worth my time. I should have paid more attention to my instincts and given up on the story long before I did.

More like 2.5 stars really. I can't figure out if I disliked it enough to give it 2 stars or liked it enough to give it 3. It started off ok, but really just kind of lost me somewhere in the middle. By the end, I was just making myself get through it. Tessa just started to get down right annoying with how gullible and stupid she was being. And Marko, word of advice...telling a girl you're gonna kill her every 5 seconds, isn't exactly the best way to woo her. Not enough interest to read part 2.

Well I read books by the season... September was Sport month and being October is Halloween month what better then to have a monster/paranormal month.

This book is WOWSERS!!!! Well I am not a big vampire or shifter or faye or ghost or paranormal fan. But when I do read a paranormal it has to have many elements. Guess after Twilight by Stpehenie Myer I compare her book to all. I really loved that book but I also love Bram Stoker Dracula... The true love story... forbidden...cursed love of a monster and of a sweet innocent human. I have read vampire books some okay but this one is really hotalicious. For me This book is a modern day Bram Stoker and it was amazing on how he loved her but sad because he couldnt.

So the setting is AUSTIN hahaha!! We Texans are always needing a little Vampire action.. Marko Is a french speaking vampire that is on the board of the Le Circle. Le Circle is a high society committee that governs the vampires. As Marko is going home he is tired of the college girls blood (hahaha! so Austin! Go UT!) and losing his mind of where he is going in life. As he is going home he see the beautiful Tessa. Tessa is a reserved woman that he can smell her innocent blood.Tessa is in love with Hunter her childhood friend that comes to visit after his enlistment of the Army. Tessa life is simple. Nothing has ever happened in her life. She works as a secretary at a car delarship, goes home, goes to church , goes to sleep, start the day over.

When Marko enters her life he is full of spirit and the unforbidden stuff that Tessa has always dreamt of but been ashamed that she dreamt it. This book was seriously about turning this good girl into a bad girl and the bad boy into a good guy. I dont want to say to much because it ended at a cliffy!!!! A DAM CLIFFY!! but the second book is out..... so Im not to mad..
The story is very well written and a first read for me from this author. The forbidden love.LOVE LOVE LOVE. Recommend for anyone that loves paranormal Aplha Hottie!! I believe Vampire books need to that angnst of the heart hurting because...... the guy is a Vampire..... and This book does not disappoint in the saddness you feel for the forbidden love.

No Words! I have no words to that ending! Give me the next book, NOW!!

Prey is about a Master Vampire, Marko Delacroix. He is out hunting one night for his prey, when he comes across Tessa. He must have her and will stop at nothing until she is his.

“Tonight I’m going to make you fall in love with me, mon chaton. Then, in a few weeks, when you fell you can’t live your life without me, I’m going to kill you.”

Getting to her proved easier than he thought, because Tessa is hiding who she really is.

“What I saw should have turned me off, but I wanted more. Wanted him to pierce every inch of my body if it meant I’d feel the desire that exsisted now.”

The story continues with a back-and-forth, love/hate relationship between Marko and Tessa. They want each other, they hate each other, they want to kill each other. The bond between them from swapping blood is undeniable. Tessa thinks she can find and bring out the redeemable qualities that she knows Marko has, while Marko wants to bring out Tessa’s forbidden, darker side.

“You don’t feel like I want you, but we both know that’s the biggest lie there is. It’s how much I want you that is our problem.”

They are having a hard time determining what is from the blood and what is real.

Besides the two of them, Tessa’s best friend, Hunter is thrown in the mix. He has been in love with Tessa forever and is heartbroken when he loses her to Marko. He vows to kill him and all the vampires in her honor. Throw in a few more vampires; Marie who also wants Tessa, and Julius, the leader, and this story was fantastic.

Honestly, I am not a huge paranormal fan. It has to be written very well in order to keep my attention. I am a HUGE Alaska Angelini fan, so of course I gave Prey a chance and I am so glad I did. It was dark, erotic, and I couldn’t put it down. I need the second book immediately! If you enjoy darker reads with paranormal elements, this book is for you. ~ Tiffany, 4.5 stars

3 Bite-Me stars!

My first vampire-genre read.

It was fun.

It was hot.

Damn..vampires know how to "burn" our body temperature, yeah?

description

Though, dare I say I wanted to kick Tessa & Marko's butt! Yeah, both of them! They're so confusing.

They love each other but don't love each other. They want each other but also don't want each other.

At some point, their push-and-pull relationship made me wanted to kick their stubborn asses!!

Enough with my ranting, onto the next book Blood Bound ! Because Marko Delacroix is hot and he speaks french!! :p

Be prepared to drop your life for this one!
Prey is the first part of the Marko Delacroix series and it left me wanting the next one even more. Marko Delacroix is a Master vampire and unlike a lot of vampire books I've read lately isn't afraid to be the vampire of our nightmares. He doesn't fight his true nature of being a predator and hunting for his prey. When he finds Tessa she is pulled into his game of cat and mouse and he can’t get enough. Both wanting her completely for himself and wanting her dead at the same time brings unexpected complications into his life. I loved Tessa from the beginning Alaska Angelini never disappoints with her characters her females are always smart, strong, with realistic feelings and reactions to their situations and that is what always brings me back to her books. Marko is the perfect blend of killer and lover, hot as hell and just as dangerous. As much as I wanted to savor every twist and turn and take it slowly I couldn't put it down. I went through so many emotions while reading this and I’m sure it also showed I would be grinning one moment and then smiling the next along with gasping out loud the next. The steamy scenes could fog up the windows in an instant. I had the worst book hangover after reading this that I was dreaming about it for days and every song I heard somehow made me think of Marko. Markos world will draw you in and never want to let you go. Can’t wait till the next one. Another 5 star read for me from Alaska Angelini.

This story was the first paranormal romance I've read in a long time... and let me say...What a way to start my love affair with vampires again!!! This story is told from multiple POV and through each one the story gets better and better. Ms. Angelini sucked me in with the prologue and didn't let me go until i finished book 4 the next day.. that's right, I flew threw all 4 books in two days and I'm on pins and needles waiting for the next one.
Tessa is living her life, well not really living, she's more like coasting trough her life, not taking risks and not tapping into what she longs for. With the reappearance of her best friend Hunter she thinks things are looking up for her little does she know what lurks in the shadows is watching her too.

Marko is knows what's coming and he's trying to prepare for it, he know's he has greatness within but hasn't tapped into it yet, he's just waiting. He's thought he was waiting until he smelled her..the dark haired beauty that taunted him with her perfect blood that called to him like a siren's call.
From the moment he caught a whiff of her his life's path was changed, well not really changed just adjusted it's path.

Tessa and Marko's lives are hypnotic and erotic with a pulse pounding plot that kept me hooked from page one. Pick this up today!!

Review for Prey by Alaska Angelini

Prey is a dark paranormal erotica. If you are squeamish about mixing blood and smut, you should probably turn away now. However, if you love your vampires dark and twisty — filled with blood lust and sexual magnetism then Prey is for you and you’ll find yourself down the rabbit hole and wandering the underground.

“…We want to save you. And even as I sit here and my brain tells me you can’t be redeemed, my heart aches to become the one you truly need. The one to make you better.”

Marko Delacroix. I don’t even really know how to explain his character, his intentions, none of him… he’s so much more than any paranormal character I’ve read before. Everything about him sucks you in and makes you want things you should run from. There is always something so appealing about an alpha man in a book for me, when it’s a paranormal book — vampire or shifter — that hotness level just goes up a notch or ten. Marko may be bad, he may terrify me, but he is one of the hottest vamps I’ve read since Sookie.

If I wanted to twist her body and mind into a million pieces before I suffocated her with my obsessive ways, so f**king be it.

Tessa had moments where she drove me crazy. I just wanted to shake her for some of the decisions she made … there were a few doozies. Of course a majority of the situations she walked into weren’t her choices, but the ones that were? I was shaking my Kindle and cursing Angelini for throwing her character’s common sense right out the window. I found myself really rooting for her though, it’s hard not to when you love the damaged Hero and your heroine wants to save him … even if he is beyond saving.

If you are a paranormal lover or a dark erotica lover or both you’ll love this book. I cannot wait to sink my teeth into book two and find out what happens on this crazy roller coaster. Five stars for storyline and five drenched panties for some of the most questionably hot vampire sex ever. Talk about making a girl question her sanity.

I just finished Prey and I really enjoyed it. Its a different one for Alaska, its a paranormal but it is still sooooo good!

Marko is a killer, a hunter, a vampire. He sees Tessa and he has to have her. He is intrigued and consumed by her innocence. He takes her but in weeks time he will kill her. He tries to stay away, its conflicting for him because he ends up not wanting to kill her but he will, this is what he does.
Tess is his Prey, she doesn't want to die but she cannot help but want him. He is in her blood. She can feel him like no other but she will kill him, that she has no doubt! Her friend Hunter and hes in love with Tessa, he vows to kill Marko. You just have to read and see how this story unfolds!

I really enjoyed the story. It had me from the get go. That is the one thing about Alaska, her words are just amazing. Her characters were well versatile and it makes me super excited to see what is coming next!

Glad I was able to read this paranormal story. It has been awhile since I read it but damn I cannot wait for more!!

Prey by Alaska Angelini writes a story of a vampire like nothing I have ever read before. Marko Delacroix is a rare creature. He a good looking French man who has been around for hundreds of years. He has been a vampire so long he no longer knows what it is like to be a human and is no longer content being a vampire. His existence id dull and mundane. One day while taking a walk thinking about his drab existence he come across a young lady who has stirs something in him. Tessalyn Antoinette was coming out of church from choir rehearsal. She sparks a fire in Marko and he wants to know more about this human. He draws Tess into his world and she likes it. He is not dealing well with his feelings for her well. He likes her a lot but at the same time he thinks of her as his prey. Tessa is confused with her feelings regarding Marko. The tale the author writes is exciting and very sexual. I was pleased the direction the author took the story. The ending had me gasping and screaming wow. The next book should be quite the page turner. The synopsis for the book does not give the book justice. 4 1/2 stars

I loved Prey! I have read a few of Alaska Angelini's books now and I probably love this one the most. I only started reading Vampire books about a year ago. So, I am fairly new to this genre and the more I read the more I love!

This story was about Tessa Antoinette and Marko Delacroix. He is a Vampire and she is a human that he has bitten. You take it from there and read the Synopsis :)! I can't say anything about the ending either because I don't do spoilers but, damn and yet I was happy it ended that way. Does that sound conflicted? I am and it is. Warning now there is a Cliffie at the end. But, it didn't end the way I thought it would so that is a good thing.

Now I have to wait even longer than everyone else because this was an ARC and I got to read it before others.

This ARC was received for an honest review and I give Prey 5.0 OOOOO's (O's for Orgasms)

Alaska Angelini has an amazing talent for drawing readers into her stories/her worlds, as if you are under her thrall.

Marko is a very intense Alpha, who takes no shit, an unremorseful killer, and a Vampire set on capturing his alluring “prey” Tessa.

Tessa is very conflicted with Marko’s desire for her, the passion they release and his constant desire to kill her. And of course, let’s not forget her dear friend Hunter; he is such a sweetheart. You can’t help but fell his anguish over Marko & Tessa.

I can’t wait to continue on with Blood Bound – Marko Delacroix #2 and see what’s in store for Marko, Tessa and Hunter. Blood Bound

Couldn't put it down! This is not your typical romance. Marco Delacroix is a dark, power hungry vampire. As your reading, you really feel his desire for Tessa, which varies between his sexual desire for her and his desire to kill her. You really connect with the characters, and have no idea what the fate will be for each of them. I love how unpredictable this book was. This book leaves you wanting more, and you'll immediately start reading the next one!

I loved this book, I lost myself in the world of humans verses vampires. But Tessa and Marco's love.human and vampire love for one another, is it real, or is it just the blood?...we will still have to find out. The war between the vampire and human race is developing, and who will win. Will Hunter get Tessa back, or has she gone forever....loved the end..left me wanting so much more....

4.5 Love you to death Stars!

This was so much more than a twisted dark romance between prey and predator! This world is finding out vampires are real... As if it's another walk in the park. There's hierarchy and mystery bursting from the pages.

Beast. Predator. Marko.
I'm still conflicted. He possessed all the depraved traits I love in my anti-hero. All dark like, for real. One sniff and poor Tessa didn't stand a chance. His compulsive behavior was edgy, yet I couldn't put my finger on why? Is there specific reason? I can't go into details, because spoilers. I need to know how this particular brand of vampires live, how they die... What is their game, I feel like I was playing without the rules. More like, I'm Tessa and the mystery was killing me. I wanted gulps of answers and only got a a few drops. But, back to Marko, I know I shouldn't like him, I can't help it. He's dark, depraved deliciousness!

“Tonight, I’m going to make you fall in love with me, mon chaton. Then, in a few weeks, when you feel you can’t live your life without me, I’m going to kill you.”

Okay, I need to know how this underground hierarchy runs. How will the world and the underground co-exist. How will Tessa play into the future. It's all so intriguing, interesting. I don't read vamp books all that much, I can't tell you of this one is unique, but it was to me. I feel like there's so much to come and it's killing me not knowing. This one was a slow burn of bloodlust and intrigue! I CAN'T WAIT TO READ THE NEXT ONE!

WOW! I love this author's books. This is a paranormal story and it's different from any of the others I've read dealing with vampires. It has a dark element to it, but I think that's part of the reason it's so good.

Marko is a Master Vampire and a killer. To him, humans are food. From the minute he sees, hears and smells the strawberry/lavender scent of Tessa, he wanted her. The pull was unlike any he could remember. He follows her home only to discover Hunter, her military best friend is moving in with her. It's obvious Hunter has feelings for Tessa and Marko is uncomfortable with the discovery that this bothers him. So Marko waits and watches. As soon as Hunter leaves, he makes his move. He gets Tessa to invite him in, even though she senses danger. Not only does he bite her, but he forces her to drink some of his blood in order to connect and know where she is.

The obsession begins. The bond they have begun causes them both to want the other. They begin to feel each others pain, fear and wants. While Tessa constantly tries to deny her feelings, Marko accepts them but promises death to Tessa. Things are complicated. Others want Tessa, especially Hunter. The President has just confirmed the existence of vampires. Can they live together with humans or are there other plans in place?

I genuinely loved Marko. Yeah, he's mean. He's also arrogant, pushy and a killer. However, he truly loves Tessa. His protectiveness of her and inner thoughts make me believe they are perfect for each other. Tessa is stubborn. She continually tries to make herself believe the blood exchange is the only reason she has feelings for Marko. But she's wrong. The complete each other. The scenes with Tessa and Marko were pretty hot. Hunter is determined to keep Tessa safe. I'm so anxious to see what happens next with him and how far he's willing to go. With the twists and turns, the secondary characters, the visions of what could happen, I'm so looking forward to reading Blood Bound and crossing my fingers Tessa and Marko get a happy ending.

Overall, I loved it! The story is told from mainly Tessa's and Marko's POVs, but a couple of chapters were from Hunter. It was perfect for keeping readers involved with what was going on.

It was dark, erotic, and I couldn’t put it down. I need the second book immediately! If you enjoy darker reads with paranormal elements, this book is for you. (4.5 stars)

I have loved Vampires since first seeing the black and white Christopher Lee movies. This read.. Wow... Was out of my norm as far a vampires, sexy hot yes but damn... Marko is nothing nice. He wont lust have you, because he loves you, he’ ll lust after you because he wants to kill you. I truly loved the spin on this and cant wait to read the next one.
In hind sight Marko would probably pick another victim. He was jaded even for a vampire, almost as if he was stuck in a rut right up until he saw her in front of the church.
His fate is sealed.
Tessa unsuspecting of the primal evil that is watching her like a black shadow. Living alone and not doing much with her life but existing. She looks does she see the man? Is it a play of lights and shadows. Once she invites him in, her life will change as she knows it. Tessa wants to live even as the Vampire tells her, he will kill her. He has no qualms about telling her.
Her fate is sealed.
The story line... The characters.. Just amazing loved it. I even loved the ending and it kind of leaves you dangling. There is some true darkness in how Marko explains he thirst for Tessa and how he taunts her saying she will love him, even as she takes her last breath.
The die has been cast.. Or has it? Can your destiny be rewritten? Can one honestly love evil and hate it at the same time. Does Love weaken... Or strengthens? Read and find out.
Awesome read and I do recommend it. Enjoy.

FINALLY! An adult vampire book! This book was fantastic! The main character, Marko, is a vampire. Yes he is gorgeous but he is all vampire. He kills without remorse and takes what and who he wants, when he want it.

Tessa is who he wants and she does everything she can to fight him off but it is not easy. The author did an amazing job getting the conflict within Tessa across to the reader. Usually when I read about someone having an attraction to a vampire, it’s because they are hot and charming. This was completely different; Tessa was torn between her hate and her love for Marko and the author made it totally believable.

At one point in the story, I found tears welling up in my eyes because of how heartbreaking the situation for Tessa had become.

I loved all the characters – they were all well written with distinct personalities. The story itself was phenomenal. I devoured this book. When I wasn’t reading it, it was calling to me like Marko’s blood called to Tessa.

The story had my heart racing, as I would try to figure out how are they going to get around the current situation. I was also devastated for some of the characters as the story played out.

I am so happy this is the first book in the series because I need more! This did end in a cliffhanger but book 2 is already out so no waiting to see where this goes.

This is the first book I have read by this author and will definitely not be the last!

I received a free copy of PREY by Alaska Angelini for a blog tour and honest review.

Ok, first off...I got a copy of Prey because I signed up for the blog tour for Blood Bound. I didn't do my homework. I knew I had heard Alaska Angelini was a bdsm and erotica author..so I just saw her name and signed up. I don't really read paranormal, definitely not vampire stories..so I get Prey, start reading and I'm like Oh damn...THEN...I read it anyways, cuz I signed up for Blood Bound and hadn't read the first Prey yet...and WOW, I'm so glad I did. I sped through Prey. The writing was excellent. The characters were intriguing, I had to know more.
Marko Delacroix, Master Vampire, smells something fantastic along his walk...and right after that floral note was a hint of strawberry...and along came Tessa on her wait to meet Hunter, he longstanding best friend, but also, the only man she's every really wanted to give her heart to.
Well, Marko has plans...and those plans thwart both Hunter's and Tessa's plans for themselves.
Marko is the hunter and Tessa is the prey.
What a wonderfully written tale of love and loss. Mind over matter. Love over all.
This ends in a cliffy and I was SO thankful that Blood Bound was sitting on my kindle.
Off to read..

Alaska has created a world in this book that just sucked me in. I love this side of her writing. It's the fresh take on the vampire world that makes this book a page turner. Plus, Marko and Tessa's relationship will just blow you away. From moment one of meeting them, you know that things are not going to be easy but have no idea where things will lead. Marko is the character that you will have a love/hate relationship with and by the end have you wondering how he can play on your emotions the same way he does with Tessa. I seriously kept wondering how can I even feel anything good towards Marko. He's a killer. There are no other words and once his sights are set on Tessa, he makes it well known that he will not back off and what her fate is. Tessa is a strong character and there's just something about her that is left a mystery for now. But she is in no way what Marko expected. Then we also have Hunter. I'm still unsure of his character. He's very important to Tessa but a line has been drawn in their friendship now. I'm so ready for more and to see where this series will lead. Can't wait for the next book. This is a must read!

My attention was captured like...well like prey...
From the first line I was hooked, and I was unable to put this book down until the very last page. Alaska Angelini has managed to do it again; somehow taking a genre that should be played out and giving it new life.

She creates an amazing subculture of vampires that is so chillingly detailed, you might wonder for a moment if there might be a spec of truth in her tale. The characters are so enthralling... your loyalties will be tested again and again. By the end of the book, you'll be begging for the next installment.

Prey is nothing less than a five star read.

5 Stars! I love this story and its characters! Marko, the vampire, is one sexy brooding antihero. Tessa, the heroine, is sweet and likable, and then there's her best friend Hunter, he's been in love with her for most of their lives and has recently moved in and is hoping to pursue a relationship with her. Too bad Marko moves a lot quicker.

This is a very intriguing story that will have you turning pages to see what happens next. I'm very happy that I can move onto the second book right away or else I'm sure I would go crazy!

Thank you Alaska Angelini for another fabulous read. I look forward to reading more of this series.

I received an ARC from the author for an honest review. This is a spoiler free review.
I really enjoyed this book. Prey isn't your typical vampire story. Marko is a master vampire who meets Tessa, a human. This is the story of how they met and came to be. They have an interesting relationship which I found intriguing. There is a cliffhanger at the end which I'm assuming will seige into book two. The conflict, action and emotions are well written, coherent and easy to relate to. I found myself feeling what Tessa had. Overall, I enjoyed this book, it was a page turner for me, and different.
