First, the writing style really stood out to me. The flow felt smooth, and the sentences were carefully put together. You can tell the author took her time with the story instead of rushing through it, and that made a difference. I especially enjoyed Monica’s internal monologues. They were lively, funny, and added so much personality to the narrative. For a debut novella, this is genuinely impressive.

Also, it was refreshing to see an African male main character from a different African country. We don’t get that variety often, and it made the story feel even more unique. My Cameroonian people, this is one to check out.

Thank you for sharing your work with us.

Perfect quick read with a heartwarming end

Even after seeing several versions of this story, I still swooned, sighed and kicked my little feet. It was short but sweet; the perfect quick read. When we first meet Monica, she avoidant, miserable and crushing on a man she can’t have and worse, doesn’t know what she wants from her life. Ryan, is the opposite; he is cool, confident and has zero doubt that Monica is who he wants, daring any man to try and come in between him and his woman. By the end of the story, Monica has grown tremendously and whilst her goal had been to find a date for valentines, she ends up finding herself and reminding us of the importance of friendship. I can’t wait to for Reanne and Ben’s story!

This was really cute and fun to read. We Meet Monica who's in a job she hates and living with a guy she wants but can't have (her best friends brother). Her mind is literally all over the place and doesn't know what she wants in life. But someone does, Ryan (crush) and he knows he wants Monica. She battles between her loyalties, her dreams and finding what makes her happy and by the end she finds loves, follows her heart on what she wants to do in life and reminds of us how important our friends are.
Also, cannot wait for Reanne and Ben's story. Bring on Malta !!

Romance for the Londoners

As a thriller reader this was a great romance which was easy flowing. The characters were relatable and the influence of African and Caribbean dialect added to the authenticity and humour.

It's so refreshing getting a black British romance novel after reading stuff like Sweet Heat and stuff like that. This was fun, this was a quick read, N.C. Reid. I am excited to see what you do with your next books in the series. This is a fun read for anyone who wants a nice, sexy read based in London with correct landmarks and accurate banter. One of the reasons why I didn't give this a five-star rating was that the second chapter was nearly as long as the whole book. I think it could have been broken down. The chapters are broken down into days, and I think it could have been broken down further, like maybe Monday afternoon, Tuesday morning, etc.. Something like that, rather than having it as one whole day. Other than that, it was a really good read. I really enjoyed it, and I can't wait to see what more comes from you.

P.S. Go get some ARC readers. This book deserves way more people reading and promoting it.

A nice quick but eventful novella based in London

Initial thoughts: a nice introduction to the author's writing style
A nice quick but eventful novella.
I read it in one sitting
Looking forward to reading Ben and Rian’s love story in the next book.

Book overview :Monica goes viral overnight by posting a get ready with me video in a dress sent to her as a package.
In the post, she jokey appeal to the public to find her a valentines date . Unfortunately before her post goes viral, she break a promise, she made to her best friend Rian. She promised not to go out or sleep with her brother (Ryan) and this line has been crossed.
Will she admit to her best friend that she has broken their best friend code and will Monica find not just a date but love by Valentine’s Day.
Read the story to find out !

A modern love story

This Novella has everything- humour, romance, friendship and culture all wrapped up into one. The author has a fantastic way with words… so much so that I could smell what she was describing!! I can’t wait to read more.
