Married at sixteen, a mother twice by seventeen, and thrice a mother and divorced by twenty-four, Adrienne Thompson is no stranger to adversity. Not your typical teenage mother, she went on to complete her college degree and to earn her nursing license. She attributes God's faithfulness as the catalyst for her success in life. Now, having raised three children as a divorced mother, she is sharing a long hidden talent and passion with the world. Using the lessons that life has so expertly taught her as a guideline (betrayal, abusive relationships, self-esteem issues, witnessing the deteriorating effects of drug abuse), she has created stories that will both entertain and inspire the reader.

Adrienne currently resides in Arkansas in her newly empty nest. Formerly an RN, she now writes and publishes her stories full time. She is also a motivational speaker.

Adrienne Thompson covered all the bases on this novel and then, knocked it out the ballpark. Normally, she writes romance and women's fiction, so I was a little surprised when I realized this story was being told from a man's perspective. But let me tell you something, she still did not disappointment me.

When handsome Ivan Spencer returns home to take care of his aging mom, he has to deal with a playboy daddy, silly sister, and a mad aunt. And to top it all off, he runs into a pretty lover from his past whom he's still attracted to and they might have more in common than meets the eye. All Ivan wants to do is get back to his real life in the city, but that's not likely to happen anytime soon.

This book has real life situations. There were parts that will make you laugh.
The characters were great. The story flowed well, and I had such a hard time putting this book down.

If this were a meal, I'd say Adrienne Thompson stuck her feet in it!! For those that don't know, that means it was great! The only disappointment was that the book has to end.

The characters were flawed, but I kept rooting for them. I wanted to see good things happen. They really came to life for me. The story flowed well, and I had such a hard time putting this book down.

Every time I thought I had this figured out, the direction would change. I was able to envision these people. It was like peeking in on a family. They seemed to leap off the pages and invite me into their world. The feelings were raw and real. From the love to the hate, the confusion to the clarity, these could have been real people. Just when I think she has written her best book, she gives me one that is better than the last!

Adrienne Thompson you have got to stop writing these awesome books that keep me up all night because I can't put them down. I love love love this amazing book. Especially Ivan and LaToya and their journey of love, grief, and pain. I sure hope there is a part 2 coming. Home takes you through all of the stages of grief. Home will make you elevate the relationships that you have been in and the roles you played in them succeeding or failing. For those that have not read Home already you are missing out on and AMAZING story.

Oh LAWD Adrienne did the doggone thang on this one!

Most books I read are from a female perspective. But this book was refreshing, to say the least.

Ivan spent a lot of time running from his past, but he ran right into it. Even though he faced pain, disappointment and fear, he had to "man up" as they say. At the end he was the better man for it.

Kudos to Adrienne! Awesome read!

Good read

Very good book, with some twist an turns that you wouldn’t expect. But it seems most families have secrets and most are taken to the grave....this one just didn’t make it there.

Adrienne has done it once again! Ivan, Ivan, Ivan....Ivan is a very successful and one VERY handsome man living the life as a bachelor to the fullest. Ivan resides in Atlanta but his hometown is in Arkansas, where his parents and only aunt lives. When Ivan is called home to help care for his mother his whole worlds begins to turn upside down seemingly like in slow motion. From a father who has never been around, a sister who only thinks of herself and an aunt who is too busy to help out with her own sister, Ivan is left to care for his mom while trying to maintain his business back in Atlanta. Being back in his small hometown Ivan makes a few discoveries that will have him questioning everyone that he has ever loved...including a high school sweetheart.

We all have that one favorite story written by Adrienne but after reading this...I can honestly say that "Home" is my number one book written by a very talented writer!!!

This story of a former rapper turned real estate agent did not unfold quite the way I expected, but I enjoyed every bit of the drama that surrounded Ivan Spencer. The characters were flawed, but I appreciated how each was developed and showed growth as the story unfolded and family secrets were revealed. Ivan, a self-professed ladies’ man, had a lot of growing up to do although he was already 41 years old. After being forced to move back home to care for his ailing mother, he found himself transforming into a more responsible version of himself. There were several plot twists in the story that kept me intrigued every time I thought I had the plot figure out. Ms. Thompson did a great job with this one. Readers will not be disappointed with this eventful storyline.

This book was not what I expected but it was a great read. Ivan was an older player (41) who had the looks and the charisma to play long after most would have hung up the hats. However, as the saying goes" the apple never falls too far from the tree", he had it honestly. Daddy and Grandaddy were players. He has to go back to his home in Arkansas and there his issues intensify. He goes home because his mother's caretaker doesn't show for her shift and needs to find out what's going on.
In his quest to make sure his mother is taken care of, he has quite a few shocks, and old truths that he had no idea bout. His first love is there, he finds out about some new siblings outside of his sister. He discovers he finds out most of his known truths were really lies.

He has to make some serious choices and come to some hard truths about the lifestyle he has been living. Life began to deal him a hand he truly never expected. Will he survive, will he lose the only person who was honest with him? Will he become a better man or maintain his player card for life?

I know and I hope you will read to find out for yourself. Great characters with a lot of depth and stories to be told. Loved it...

Received this book for free through goodreads first reads. So thanks for that but I am not the intended audience for this book. Didn't realize what I was getting myself into for this one. The book description was in proper English but none of the story is, so a little deceiving. ugh. Couldn't relate or sympathize with the characters at all, not one. Especially disliked...nope, just really disliked every single one of them. It was like Jerry Springer but more unbelievable. Thank goodness it was a quick read. I think this was supposed to be a happily-ever-after fairy tale in the end but honestly it was a nightmare. Not romantic but pathetic. And disgusting. I spent the entirety of the book feeling disgusted. As a woman I am disgusted by the treatment and attitude towards every woman in this book and am frankly shocked a woman wrote this. The last page doesn't redeem the main character and an entire book of despicably disrespectful attitudes, behavior and objectification.

Adrienne Thompson's great writing continues in this one. How she comes up with these characters and story lines, I can't begin to imagine, but I'm glad that she does!

While I was pretty certain that I couldn't stand Ivan's trifling daddy, I couldn't decide how I felt about Ivan. He took care of his mama financially, and that seemed to be his only redeeming quality. He was caught up living life for himself, and that's all that seemed to matter to him. He was just kind of 'meh' to me...then the first Big Reveal happened. And I couldn't help but feel for him. But when the second Big Reveal happened, my heart went out to him. Listen, Adrienne Thompson takes her characters through some thangs! This man's whole world was turned upside down, but in her own wonderful way, Ms. Thompson puts Ivan on the right path, and reminds him of the Lord's goodness. As usual, she gives the reader a good Word without being preachy or self-righteous about it.

Generational Curses Are Real

Ivan must learn the hard way that harboring unforgiveness often causes you to emulate the one who hurt you. You end up making their same mistakes and the only difference is you're blinded by the fact that you're doing it. You are much like the lost coin that was spoken about in the parable...lost but you have become inanimate so you don't know you're lost. You are numbed because you have become immune to the pain that someone caused you...so immune to it that you have no clue that others are not immune to the infection that you're carelessly spreading. Ivan learned this but he almost learned it too late.

What a ride! Full of twists, turns, friendship, love and faith with enough humor included to balance it out. I couldn't put it down. This is my first book by this author and certainly won't be my last. Excellent quick snow day read.
