This would have been just a 2* read of what amounts to a pretty overused plot to be imagined as a movie with Meg Ryan, Hugh Jackman and Brad Pitt, if not for two things:

A) this was genuinely funny in a lot of places, and
B) the fact that the uber-sexy male superstar was written to be a genuinely, deeply nice guy.

I was chuckling a lot, and I seriously liked Greyson, who was always - so uncharacteristically for a Hollywood superstar - in good humour and trying to do the best for everyone, while having a good time himself. This elevated this romance above the usual slush, and I enjoyed it.

Adorable, funny, but the romance was lacking.
The Good
I had so much fun reading Adapted For Film. It was cute, the characters made me laugh, and the story was told beautifully. We start with Aubrey talking to a reporter about how she came to be engaged! But we don't know who she is engaged to. It could be Greyson, the sexy star of her book-adapted film or Kole, the grumpy but hilarious director. Really, I didn't know who to root for because both guys were awesome for different reasons.

Aubrey is a introvert writer who has trouble with crowds or people in general. So her introduction to fame is not so fun. Especially when it seems like Kole is trying to ruin the film version of her beloved book. As readers, we know how important it is for films to be very closely related to the book, so I easily felt Aubrey's pain when the important details were going down the drain. But she kept up her snark and weird sense of humor and challenged Kole every step of the way.

Kole and Aubrey were very similar. They both had passion for their craft, and they loved to crack jokes no one else understood. But they got each other, even if they started out as rivals. Greyson was nothing like Aubrey, which was fun. He's that sexy movie star you want to bang and assume is a superficial jerk. But Greyson was actually very sweet and caring. He took care of Aubrey like no one else did, despite wanting to get into her pants. I loved both guys and I could see Aubrey with either of them, though one had more long-term potential.

This book was well written and I loved all the characters. The story was fun, flirty, and drama-filled.
The Bad
As I turned the last page, I realized that there was very little of the "couple" actually being a couple. They only get together at the end of the book, so really, the romance is limited to watching their friendship grow. I didn't really notice during the story, but afterwards, I found myself wishing that more of the story was based after they finally got together.
The Snuggly
The sex is skipped over!!!! I know, I was so disappointed. The lead up was hot, then bam, next chapter. I wanted sex, especially with all that sexual tension throughout the whole book. But it didn't ruin the story or anything, I'm just a horn-dog.
Final Thoughts
As long as you are not looking for a passion filled romance, I think a lot of people will love Adapted For Film. It's light but interesting. As a reader and writer, Aubrey and her story really called to me. Very recommended.

While it took me some time to connect with the story and the main character, I am glad I completed this read. In the end I was rewarded with a fun and witty story. Fans of Stacey Rourke need not fear her journey in to New Adult Contemporary Romance genre because this book is classic Rourke. The witty, snarky commentary that Rourke is known for is definitely present. Whether she is writing a fight scene in the Gryphon Series, a murder by the horseman, or expressing one’s true love in a butterfly garden; Rourke’s wit and charm shines through.

I finished this book in damn near one sitting. It was drenched in sarcasm. And I loved it. I’ve had this book in my queue for a while now. I don’t recall how I got it but I needed a break from my series reads and the Sci-Fi book I had been reading. (H.G. Wells is hard to read for too long) I immediately loved it. From beginning to end this book screams wit, snark and lots of humor!

I laughed so much during this book you guys. I could not put the damn thing down. The pretend romance was not what I would have expected so that was fun. It was more realistic. I mean, I remember people in high school that wore sex appeal like a second skin, which is how Greyson came off. But I do like the fact he wasn’t a douche, which is usually the case with the sexy ones. I honestly liked him better than the actual love interest.

The main plot was pretty predictable but the WAY it was written was what hooked me.

The only thing I found a bit off was the Camden and Aubrey’s attraction. We could see where it was headed but we never really see ‘the moment they fall’ ya know. Then it just skips to them being in love. Its hard to explain without spoiling the book but that’s the best I can do.

It didn’t have any impact of my likability of the story though. It was a quick, funny read that I could see going back too when I need a break from life.

My Review:

I adored this book beginning to end, although I thought the top of my head was going to blow off at about the 85% point. This is my first time reading Stacey Rourke, as I tend to avoid anything YA - but this being her first volley into the big girls’ romance aisle, I thought I would give it a try. I am so very pleased that I did. Her writing is quick witted, extremely clever, smart, snappy, steamy, and snarky – just the way I like it. The characters are likable and interesting, and our heroine, Aubrey, is wonderfully flawed, and more than a bit nutty, but I adored her inside and out. What a fun and entertaining diversion for a day of snorts and giggles.

This is by far the most boring, plain, bleah book that I've read. And I really don't understand how it has such huge ratings, because it has nothing good: characters are like invisible because they are not sketched or described so you can see them, or even remember their names and know who is who. The plot is spineless and its coherence is inexistent. Everything that happens bored me to death and the more I was reading the worst was becoming.

I really enjoy this type of books and I'm not harsh on rating or very pretentious. But when you give me no plot, not characters, with the minimum description and spark of realism, not nothing, then what you expect me to enjoy?!

The idea sounded ok, a bit funny, but it was horror. I don't think a medicine prescript would've bored me more than this. And yes, I kept reading because it was for a blog tour and I was hoping, HOPING, that at least, in the end, is going to be ok. But it wasn't. And just another time in life I HATED a book so much. Not recommened at all, because you'll lose your time and you'll be so nervous and irritated after trying to read it/reading it.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
Having been a fan of Mrs. Rourke YA novels for awhile now, I was very nervous to hear of her newest book. Romantic comedy, no this would not work! Well I bow down to your brilliance with this work, I was 100% wrong. This book is filled with everything I love about your other series, quick whit and character that you can totally relate to. I squealed with delight when an all-time favorite quote from Star Wars was used. From start to finished I was enthralled in the story, I literally could not put it down I read in a matter of hours because of this.

I really enjoyed books with this type of story line but unfortunately, this one didn't do it for me. It was bland and quite boring.

Aubrey Evans was supposedly an independent woman but I had a difficult time portraying her as such. For me she was annoying. The only thing I liked about her was the clever dialogue going on, where even Camden had a difficult time understanding.

And Lastly, what was Greyson's role supposed to be? I had to reach the end to understand that Audrey's love interest was Kole Camden.. Sigh

I love me some humorous romance. And this book fits the bill!

Aubrey is a romance author who--gasp!--doesn't believe in happy endings. She was head over heels for her first love and husband, but he did her wrong, and left her brokenhearted. It didn't stop her rise in the world of romance fiction, and now Aubrey's first novel is being made into a movie, and she's a producer!

Aubrey and her BFF Tandy head out to LA to be a part of the action. There Aubrey learns that the part of her 6'6" Russian bodyguard has been given to a 5'3" Mexican rap star. Because, reasons.

Oh, and they have written a new intro scene for her main characters, and the female lead drives a Prius--product placement. Wardrobe? Unsuitable. Everything, absolutely everything, about the production is wrong, wrong, wrong in Aubrey's eyes...so she takes it up with the director, Kole Camden.

With each stomped step I rehashed the script changes, prop, swaps, recasting and inferior costuming. Or, as I liked to refer to them, the elements that pushed me over the brink to finally achieving full-blown, bat-shit crazy status.

"Camden! Camden!" I shouted, loud enough to strain my throat, the instant I caught a glimpse of him.

His thumbs were looped in his front pockets, and his denim shirt rolled up his forearms. An annoyingly charming smile curled across his face as her turned my way. That lone dimple plunged deep into his cheek.

Between heaving pants, I recited the speech I'd mentally prepared on my long journey across the extensively large lot. "Hey, I've got a question for you. If we hit a local bookstore we could probably finde every book I've ever released. If you want, I could gather them all up in a big pile so you can take a shit right on them. Would you like that?

Kole's eyes narrowed while his amused smile held steady, as if he was struggling to find his place in an argument I'd jumped a few chapters ahead in. "I feel like I know the right answer here, but there's a chance this is a trick question."

"No, I'm serious!" I ranted, flicking a stray lock of hair from my eyes. "Because you seem so hell bent on destroying everything I've created, maybe we could try this as a time-saver!"

Yep, Aubrey's got a wicked mouth. Kole, for his part, doesn't mind riling her up all that much. Their banter is fun and games, well, until somebody loses her eye. Or, her free will...

Art bounced in his chair. "You and Camden had this movie spiraling into absolute failure."

"And that's him sugarcoating it," Kole interjected.

"You nearly killed this project." Steepling his fingers, Art fiddled with his obnoxious pinkie ring. "Now, my beautiful little swan, you have the chance to make things right."

"Let's agree to never call me that again." Finding my legs suddenly heavy with dread, I sank into the chair I had been leaning against.

"Fair enough," Art relented. Leaning one elbow on the table, he rested his chin on his closed fist. "To put plainly, Ms. Evans, you made magic for us yesterday. We believe you have created a very unique opportunity--"

Greyson leaned forward in his chair, his elbows resting on his knees. Golden brows hiked up, a light-hearted grin adding a mischievous flare to his appeal. "They want you to be my girlfriend. You up for it?"

For the sake of her novel-turned-movie dreams, Aubrey agrees, but the tension between her and Kole is palpable. And, this only gets more intense when the studio ups the ante, causing Aubrey and Greyson to co-habitate...

The production goes on, Aubrey knows she can't accept any of Greyson's affectionate overtures--not when he's on the studio's dime. And, she won't take any of Kole's advice--to get the heck out of LA with her soul and sanity in tact. Thing is, Kole is so very tempting. He's also edging his way deep into her heart, and that Aubrey will never allow.

Spoiler alert: He does.

This is a fun, fast read with lots of flirtation and little on-page action. The pace is brisk and the HEA is delayed enough to keep the pages flying. I really enjoyed!

Ever since I read this author's first book I have loved her writing. With Adapted For Film I was worried how the story would turn out as this is not the author's normal writing genre. I can say that I LOVED it. I see the author's sense of humor coming out more in this book as she has a great one. Through out the whole book I was in a fit of either laughter or giggles.
I really enjoyed how we are told the story through Aubrey's point of view but it was told to an RB (reporter barbie).
Aubrey is an amazing author who one day gets to have one of her books put onto the big screen! How awesome is that for an author to have their work put out on the big screen it is an accomplishment. But when Aubrey comes onto the set that is when tension beings even though her bff is there to try and help her out.
Some of the actors who are playing the parts of Aubrey's book characters are not what she expects, the way she envisions the scenes are not coming together and this makes her butt heads with Kole the director.
Right from the start I could tell that Kole and Aubrey were going to play hard to get with each other. As they can joke with each other but then just annoy the crap out of each other.
When it comes to point that Art the main dude in charge is tired of dealing with the way they are acting he gives them the ultimatum either play together or the film is cut.
With Aubrey seeing her dream being taken away she plays nice with Kole but in the process the higher beings the film industrial decides to spice up the hype of the film by having the author and the main character Greyson "pretend" to be together. Now this is becoming more than Aubrey is bargaining for as she is seeming to lose herself, and we watch as Kole tries to get her to speak her mind and show the world who she truly is.
As the story progresses we go back and forth with Kole and Aubrey and Aubrey and Greyson, throw in Mateo and Tandy and their comical ways and you are bound with laughter, a bit of heartache and finally happiness.
There is no sex scenes just the mention of a leg or two being overthrown that shall not be mentioned. And the two characters that get together at the end we don't get much of their "couple" status just how they became together and finally engaged. Overall this was a really good book, I was very impressed with the author getting into a new genre and doing a wonderful job.

Some of my favorite quotes through out the book.

"Can stress cause someone's eyeball to shoot right out of their socket? I'm legitimately worried about that right now."
"If he looked at me like that for even a second, I'd throw my panties at him hard enough to bruise his forehead."
"I gotta ask, woman to woman, how did you not hit that daily, and nightly, and ever so rightly?"
"If you become any more of a horn-dog we won't be able to allow you on the furniture."

**I received an ebook ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review**

This was such a fun read! I’m a pop culture junkie, so I love reading books that take place in Hollywood or are focused on a topic related to it.

Aubrey Evans wrote a book that everyone loved, and now it’s being adapted on the big screen. Hollywood’s hottest male star—Greyson Meyers—won the lead role in the film, and a brazen, sexy director—Kole Camden—is at the helm of the project. Kole and Aubrey just can’t seem to get along, but once they call a truce, it seems like there might be a little more there than just a professional relationship. Things get super sticky for everyone when Greyson and Aubrey somehow end up in a fauxmance for the sake of drumming up PR for the movie. I won’t spoil the rest, but you can guess what happens: plenty of drama laced with a bit of angst and romance.

The way Stacy Rourke chose to write this book was awesome. I loved getting crumbs in the interviews, then more details and deeper pieces of the story through the actual chapters. I also loved how Rourke made me think one thing by the interview itself, but then sent me off in a completely different direction when I read what was actually happening in the story.

There were so many moments in this book when I giggle snorted. The whole thing is comedic, from the way that Kole and Aubrey meet, to the crazy things that come out of Mateo’s mouth. Writing a good comedy piece is not an easy thing, but Rourke hit it out of the ballpark with Adapted for Film. I had tears in my eyes and a stomach sore from laughing after each session of reading.

I stayed hooked on this story until I finished it. Rourke’s writing is great, the story keeps moving forward in a nice fluid motion, and I connected with the characters in such a way that I found myself rooting for certain pairings to succeed and crossing my fingers that others wouldn’t do so well. I was very pleased with the way Rourke ended the story, and felt like everything was wrapped up nicely, with no loose strings or pieces left for me to second guess about.

Characterwise, I loved everyone in this book, including the secondary characters. If I had to pick a favorite, it would easily be Kole, because he’s just so … I dunno, he’s snarky and uber confident and he oozes this masculinity, but he’s also got this soft side to him that comes through on certain occasions.

If you like romantic comedies, then this is certainly the story for you. This was my first taste of Rourke’s writing, but I will definitely checking her other stories out, and probably devouring them just like I devoured this book.

Five stars to this piece of comedic genius!

**You can see this full review and more at Book Briefs: http://bookbriefs.net**

Adapted for Film is a contemporary romance that works as a standalone. That being said, I would like to pop into this world again and see what Aubrey and the characters are up to. I really dug Stacey Rourke's writing style and the way she told the story. The book starts out with a famous romance author being interviewed. You initially think the interview is for her book that has been turned into a major blockbuster movie, but you soon find out that the interview is for her upcoming, high profile wedding. But who is she getting married to? We have no idea as the reader. The interview is broken up and spread out throughout the book as she tells the story that has landed her with her fiance, and throughout it all you see the two main guys in the story and you can't help but go back and forth a couple of times with who it is going to be.

I hesitate to call this a love triangle, because there really only is friendship between Aubrey, Grayson and Kole up until the very end when the mystery guy is revealed, but it is very obvious that it will be one of the two of those guys that she ends up with. It is a cool premise and I had a lot of fun reading this story. I loved the idea of a story within a story. She is an author on the movie set of her book and she falls in love, while the movie is about an author on the movie set of her book that falls in love. It is really cool. And Aubrey has a wicked sense of humor. She cracked me up from page one all the way until the end. Another thing I loved about the book was that the production company making the movie was called Raven's Claw. That made me smile every time I saw it.

My only minor gripe with the story was that I wanted a little more in the second half of the book. I loved the set up of the friendships and I thought the story line flowed great. But I wanted a little more detail and day to day interaction between Aubrey and the guy she eventually ended up with. I loved them together and I feel like their development kind of coasted after a certain point. But even still, their journey was a very cute romantic comedy set up. I also should point out that even though her book is supposed to be very sexually charged, Adapted for Film was actually pretty tame. It was a nice read, but not racy by any means. I thought it was fitting for the storyline. If you are looking for a quick rom/com type read, Adapted for Film fits the bill.

Aubrey Evans is on set for the making of the movie based on her romance novel, but she finds herself clashing with the director, Kole Camden. Though they manage to put their differences aside, the studio thinks that the best way to avoid the bad press that has already leaked is to manufacture a relationship between Audrey and the actor playing the lead role, Greyson Meyers. While it seems innocent at first, Aubrey is unable to stop the studio from taking it to further levels, and things get only more complicated when she realizes that though Greyson is hot and fairly unrelenting of his flirting, there's something brewing between her and Kole.

The plot was your typical, fluffy romantic comedy and made for a perfect popcorn read. It didn't drag at all. On the contrary, the clever dialogue kept the story going. I don't think I've read the author/director/actor triangle before, so that part was fresh, but part of my love for romantic comedies is the comfort of familiarity and the promise of a happy ending.

Rourke's characters in this book were fun and quirky. Aubrey is icy but clever and snarky. I love snark. Kole is funny but strangely awkward. There's one scene in which he admits his jokes don't always work out (it's a funny scene involving a feather duster) and he endeared himself to me. Greyson is over the top flirty but somehow he never gets annoying. My favorite though was Mateo, the Cuban hip-hop star playing one of side characters in the movie. He reminded me of Pit Bull and cracked me up.

The Romance Factor was there, but it was fairly light. There wasn't a lot of foreplay between the main characters. Even they don't seem to realize there's something there until later in the book. At the same time, because I knew there was romance waiting in the wings, it still read like a romantic comedy.

The Sex Factor was super low. The book is easily PG with one scene maybe edging up to PG-13. Maybe. I like some steam, but it's not a deal breaker, so those romance readers who aren't so much into the dirty stuff are likely to appreciate the tame nature of this one.

This was a fun, well-written read that gives me faith I'll enjoy the other books by this author. If she comes out with any other rom-coms, I'm pretty sure I'll be grabbing them. Now I just need to get in the mindset to read her other series.

This is more of a 2.5 star read for me, but it wasn't really worth 3 stars. The book is told in a series of flashbacks, which I found more annoying than interesting. Aubrey was a very annoying heroine, blowing hot and cold between being a strong independent author and a spineless wimp. Both of her love interests were judgemental and caught up in their own worlds and needs to be supportive of Aubrey. I live a relationship like that, I really didn't need to read about one too. Granted, everything worked out in the end, but Aubrey had to grow up for that to happen, and I felt she didn't have enough time plot wise for that to happen before she got her happily ever after. It was a quick read, but not that enjoyable of one.

Adapted For Film was a super sweet contemporary romance and an enjoyable one at that. This is my first Stacey Rourke book and also my first book that's based on a film's set. So it was super fun.

The book starts with Aubrey talking to a reporter about her her love story and her engagement. We don't know who Aubrey is engaged to and we are in suspense as to who the guy is almost till the end.

Aubrey Evans is a bestselling romance author whose book is being made into a movie. This is the best thing that could happen to any author and Aubrey is on the moon with this news. Except she has to fight with the movie's director, Kole Camden for the teeniest thing. Soon enough Aubrey and Kole come to an understanding and even form a good friendship.

The book starts in an unique and engaging manner and the story itself is really sweet. There was no question of a love triangle in this book, because I knew from the beginning who I wanted Aubrey with and I was pretty sure that's what will happen. Another thing was that the chemistry between Greyson and Aubrey was the kind that burns out soon enough. They never would have lasted. But Kole and Aubrey on the other hand the slow burning chemistry that just grows with time.

I absolutely loved Aubrey's best friend. She was with her all through her journey. Aubrey's snark and weird sense of humor is another reason I enjoyed this book. I also loved how the author developed Kole and Aubrey's friendship.

The one thing I missed was the actual romantic relationship between 'the couple'. The ended up together in the end and I felt like the book was incomplete. I wanted more of them.

But overall it was a light-hearted, fun and flirty book.

A contemporary romance with a heavy dose of comedy! Or is it a comedy with a heavy dose of contemporary romance? I laughed my butt off reading this book! I normally read post apoc or paranormal type books, I do love an occasional romance, but it’s a hard transition sometimes, and this was just what I needed. Aubrey Evans is a published author who’s book is hitting the big screen. We follow Aubrey and her BFF Tandy as they fly to LA for the filming. The friends have an enviable relationship, their back and forth banter was hilarious and refreshing.
This is a love story that we would all like to be ours. Your dreams coming true, two gorgeous men pining after you and one of them just happens to be the heartthrob of heartthrobs! And through her hysterical choices and mistakes, Aubrey ends up right where she should be. Don’t be fooled tho, there is no love triangle or whiney broken heart scenes in this book. But you can’t help but find yourself cheering for both men at times, even if your heart knows who is right. I loved the way everything comes together at the end, but was not ready to be done with the characters. You know it’s a win when it’s over and you’re just so disappointed to not be able to keep up with the future of the characters you’ve grown attached to. A great light hearted read that inspires hope for love when you are so sure it’s just not in the stars.

"I received a free copy to read and review for Wicked Reads"

I really enjoyed this story, and loved the way that it was told. It was clever, funny and I felt a great tease to us, the readers. Did I guess the twist early on? well, probably yes, but it just made it all the more amusing watching it play out. The side characters, such as Sebastian, are recognisable homage to the industry and just add to the humour. It is a short, sweet read which hints at a lot, but really it is pretty much all verbal play - which fits the author lead perfectly. As the film is getting a 'sequel', I am hoping we might revisit this gang again too.

The MC is an author living her dream... her book is being made into a movie. The story opens with the MC being interviewed about her wedding. She met the groom on the set of the movie and the romance has set Hollywood ablaze. The MC tells the story through an interview. I really liked that POV. This book will keep you guessing as to who the groom really is. I had an inkling but wasn't 100% sure.

I would have really liked to have seen more of the two love birds once they pulled their heads out of their butts and realized they were meant to be. This was fun light read! I really liked the characters and of course the there was lots of snark and a little steam. Rourke did a great job!

I didn't know what I was getting into when I started this book. I was In The mood for a good rom com & it happened to appear in my newsfeed.
Well! Let me tell you!!
What I got was a brilliant book with everything I wanted AND MORE!
The authors writing style, intelligent witty humor & engaging plot, kept me inthralled from start to finish.

I highlighted so many segments of this book that it looks like crayola vomited all over it!

I laughed so hard at some of the banter between characters that I nearly peed my pants.

The hrs I spent reading this book were some of the most enjoyable I have had in a long time.

Bravo ms Rourke!

I read Adapted For Film, and I recommend this book! This is a comfortable, summer read full of romance and wit. I loved the direction this book took and the quirky romance. The perspective of an author getting their book "Adapted For Film" was something that I wanted to read!
I had mental pictures of actors in my mind that were described vividly in the book. My list? Chris Hemsworth as Greyson, Tom Welling as Kole, the avatar of the leader of the game in Hero's Duty in Wreck It Ralph as Willa (I know this one's a stretch, but watch it and you'll see.), Emma Stone as Aubrey.

Just What I Needed!

When I heard Stacey Rourke was releasing a romantic comedy, I was super excited. While not my normal type of read, I knew she could bring the humor, and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. Adapted for Film is full of romance, snark, and hilarity. I loved every second! Just what I needed to pull me out of my reading funk!

A fairly simple plot with a few unique twists to make it a lot of fun. I laughed out loud enough that i have to give it 4 stars, even with its faults.

The story is straightforward and has probably been the plot for a dozen (or more) rom-coms. I liked the twist that the main story was told in flashback. I was honestly along for the ride and learning which man she ended up with as the story unfolded.

OK, so I'm the last person who likes a love triangle story. Personal experiences bias me greatly, and I just hate the "oh which one do I love more" dither that the heroine always seems to end up in. And good characters always seem to be hurt in the process. So yeah, hate hate Hate it. I try to avoid these plots like the plague, and honestly didn't realize that this was one. However, this one was a little different.

My favorite part of the whole book, and what really took it up to 4 stars, was the humor. The banter between the friends, the banter between the leads, Aubrey's internal monologues... I laughed out loud quite a lot with this one. Definitely at the "startle the cat" level of laughter.

I also loved her message at the end. It's not the literary Wow moments. It's the inbetweens, it's the future together that really matter. I really, really liked that.

A few editing notes. Yes, there were a few typos and grammatical errors and similar things. Most weren't enough to really pull me out of the story, but there were two that I had issue with. She talked about her mouth as "dry as the Mohave." The Mohave is a county in AZ. Yes, it's very dry, but I think the more common expression is to use the desert's name, the Mojave. And if you lived in LA for 6 months, you know that's how it's spelled. The other one that got me was when Kole brought Aubrey coffee. Except he didn't bring her coffee. He brought her a chai latte. Chai is tea (it literally means"tea"in Hindi). Anyone who drinks it knows it's not coffee and wouldn't use the terms interchangeably. Those two stuck out to me because of personal experiene. I lived in the Mojave for 3 years (and yes, it's very dry). And I love chai lattes. So probably just me being picky, but those errors did bother me.

1st person POV from Audrey, told as a flashback in an interview. No cheating. Mild love triangle. No OW/OM melodrama. Great humor. HEA and no cliffhangers.

Would I read the next in the series (Mateo and Tandy's story, Turn Tables)? I've already got it downloaded.

This is the first book I've read by this author so I wasn't sure what I was getting. In the end Adapted for Film was a quick and easy read with some humorous moments, but it did leave me wanting more.

In general, this book was likeable. It started off well with the comical clashes between the author, Aubrey, and the director, Kole. I liked the mix of interviews in the present day and the events actually unfolding as they happened. However, for me, the romance left a lot to be desired for. I liked the premise of the idea, but I just felt it needed more. I was never fully invested in one guy more than the other, and I felt things moved too quickly so that emotions didn't feel believable. I kept wanting to decide on a guy for Aubrey to be with, but couldn't, and in the end I kind of ended up disliking her for stringing them along. The romance had a lot of potential, it just took a bit long to arrive and then was over too quick once it did. I needed more growth, chemistry, and emotion.

Overall, it's an easy and likeable read.

I enjoyed reading this book. It had extremely funny laugh or l loud moments. I loved Aubrey and Kole's banter. I LOVED the way they met. Here's what I didn't like. Tandy, the BFF. I thought she was mean to Aubrey. "Did I tell you that your pants make your ankles look fat? " who says that to people they love. I also thought she was selfish. Not once in the book did she show Aubrey a hint of compassion. It was always about Tandy drooling over Grayson. Another thing I didn't line was the author didn't write enough about Kole and Audrey's relationship. I felt like Aubrey didn't spend a lot of time with Kole. I saw more scenes with Greyson. Overall this book was charming and very humorous. A definite keeper. It made me laugh out loud quite a bit. (Which is hard to do) I hope Greyson gets his own book where he falls in love.

A book on the silver screen

I got this book free from Amazon. I have read Stacey Rourkes other books in the past. Although this was not a paranormal, I decided to give it a try.
The concept was different. The characters were well developed and some had issues, making them complex.
The story is about an author who brings her book to the silver screen. She goes to L.A. to watch the filming & discovers that everyone has it all wrong. Since she is a control freak, there are many arguments with the actors, the director and the financial backer. In the interim, she falls in love & runs always from love due to a fearful past. The book is cute it reads like a movie would. It is appropriate for YA readers.
