It was an HONOUR and a pleasure to have been able to read this book as an ARC and all I have to say is OH MY FUCKING GOD! BECCKKKAAA!

First of all, the illustrations throughout where PHENOMENAL! They matched the mood of the book itself, as well as their respective poems GORGEOUSLY! I feel they also added to the poems in a great way. Second, moving through the poems I was FEELING ALL OF THE DAMN EMOTIONS! Even though I’m not an eldest daughter myself, or, related to most of these, they ABSOLUTELY had my heartrending, chest aching, feeling hopeful, and MOVED me in such heartbreakingly beautiful ways I could not PUT IT DOWN. I also have to mention that I HAD SO MANY TEARS IN MY EYES for most of the last part of poems. My heart MELTED with warmth I COULD NOT EVEN. And that last one? HOLY SHIT. IT WAS INCREDIBLE.

I am VERY VERY proud of you, for what you have achieved and are going to be giving the world Becka, and I can’t wait to see what you do next! <3

Becka’s poetry collection is truly amazing and deeply heartwarming. What makes it so special is not just the beauty of the words, but the emotional journey behind them. You can feel, line by line, the waves of emotion that Becka has moved through from vulnerability and pain to growth, reflection, and quiet strength. Each poem feels honest and unfiltered, as if you’re being trusted with pieces of her inner world.

The writing is both delicate and powerful. Some poems land softly and linger, while others hit with a raw intensity that stays with you long after you’ve finished reading. There’s a genuine sense of courage in how openly she expresses her feelings, and that openness creates a strong connection with the reader. It reminds you that emotion even when heavy can be transformed into something meaningful and beautiful.

The Fractured Mask & Graveyard Heart is not only a collection of poems, but a journey of the heart. It’s the kind of work that makes you pause, feel, and reflect on your own experiences. A truly moving and inspiring read that shows how healing and powerful poetry can be.

ARC copy received.

I honestly really loved this collection. The images alongside the poems added so much to it and made the whole thing feel more immersive rather than just words on a page.

What I liked most was how the poems flowed from start to finish. It didn’t feel random or disconnected, it felt like you were going on a journey through everything from hurting to healing. You can tell a lot of thought went into how it was put together.

It’s also unbelievably relatable, especially if you’ve struggled with mental health or complicated family dynamics. It touches on topics people still don’t really talk about openly, and I think that’s what makes it so impactful. It brings those experiences to the surface in a way that feels honest and not overdone.

The writing is easy to follow but still hits hard. You don’t have to overthink anything to understand it, you just feel it. Some of the poems really stuck with me, especially around the eldest daughter experience.

Overall it’s such a strong and emotional read and I think a lot of people will see themselves in it.

This gothic poetry collection is both haunting and healing, a raw gathering of grief, abandonment, and the quiet resilience of the eldest daughter. Through macabre imagery, the poet bleeds truth onto the page, exploring what it means to be parentified, unseen, and still searching for love.

As the poems move through seasons of despair and growth, they mirror the reader’s own cycles of breaking and becoming. There is pain in the pages and the soft bloom of healing.

This collection of poems doesn’t just tell a story, it offers beauty in the brokenness and light in the shadows.

A deeply moving, cathartic read for anyone who has carried too much too young and is learning, at last,
how to carry themselves.

Received the ARC copy from the author and she was overjoyed that we would read this as if we were doing her the favour, the reality is that Becka Rose did me the favour by writing poetry as such. If you’re the eldest in your family carrying the burdens of constant emotional intelligence and responsibility of your siblings and parents, her work will either inspire you, break you or turn you away if you’re not ready to face it.

I took a break half way to digest all of it.

‘Permission’ broke me.
‘Reflection’ is confronting and made me weep.

Her writing is fluid, cohesive and the poems are well expressed & planned. Her journey as what can only be described as hard truths.

I sat in stillness after reading these poems, processing. Sobbing. It ate away at my own parentified childhood experience and revealed a new strength and love for myself that lied dormant beneath the surface. Beckas poetry has power and grit and tells a story of strength and resilience. Couldnt reccomend this read more!!! 10 stars if i could.
