MY TAKE
I'm a huge SciFi fan. Have been since my youth. I'm excited to see SciFi making a come back after Fantasy took the front stage for so long. This is the second book in a trilogy. We only get a few references about the characters we fell in love with in EYE ON ORION--Holly and Jai. They don't make a showing in this book.

However, it was fun to get to see Amira back home in her natural settings and see her expand as a character and a person. There's nothing like fleeing your world to avoid a forced marriage only to find out upon your return that you've been provided with a husband in your absence. Without you even being there. I felt for Amira's frustration for the situation and feeling like all her power to decide her own future had been stolen from her. Poor Marcus, her husband, ends up bearing the brunt of her anger.

Fortunately, he's a good choice for both the king and a love interest for her. I fell in love with Marcus right away. Seeing the two of them learn to know each other as they're forced to work together ... well, I'm smiling as I write this. But, sometimes, we learn the value of what we have too late.

I'm not going to spoil anything. I'll just say I can't wait for the next book!

Great world building, intriguing plot!

What a thrilling adventure this book takes us on! I cannot wait to ride out the next one. It does have quite the cliffhanger ending so I mean this very literally. Write fast, Laura Bastian. You are killing me! The world building is incredible. It was a treat to see races from neighboring planets added to the mix. The mystery of the murders certainly had me devouring each page for clues. This story has it all. What a great sequel to Eye of Orion!

I really enjoyed Eye on Orion, but Beyond Orion kept me turning pages. The relationship between Amira and Marcus was squeal worthy as you watched them work together. The tension from trying to rule the kingdom was palpable and it kept you on the edge of your seat.

I highly recommend this book, and I can't wait for book three!

To be completely honest I was disappointed when I started this book once I realized that it was going to center completely around Amira now. Once I got further into it I really enjoyed it but I did find myself constantly wondering what Holly and Jai were up to. This book was definitely continuing to setup the big climax of the series but from a different perspective. I do wish that the relationship between Amira and Marcus would have really blossomed before the end. We were only just beginning to see them realize their true feelings for each other.

One thing I appreciated about this book as well as the first was that again she didn't make the various alien races seem overly "alien". We are introduced to a few that are very different from the humans on Earth but it was never a key focus for the story.

Even though I enjoyed the first book more than this one, both have me excited to read book 3. I am hoping to see some big things and feel some major feels!

What's not to like? Romance, intrigue, and enough sci fi world building to keep anyone happy. I loved it. Except for the end. I HAVE to know what happens!! Can you finish the next one FAST please? I can't wait to read the rest of the story!! And for those of you who want a clean book with plenty of intrigue and suspense, this book is for you. I have the ebook version, but now I want the print version (just in case, you know, the power goes out or something). Yep. It's that good :)

Even better! It took me only a chapter before I delighted in following a different main character, but I loved the inner dialogue, the mature reactions and fabulous worlds.
