Tolle Hard Science Fiction. Hat mir richtig gut gefallen.
Freu mich auf den nächsten Teil. Vor allem bin ich gespannt, wie sich das mit den großen sechs (KI's) weiter entwickelt.
Und dann geht es auch endlich tiefer ins All! Ein blinder Kapitän, das kannste dir nicht ausdenken:)

Ich habe zu diesem Band gegriffen, weil ich schon mal einen Roman mit dem gleichen Titel gelesen habe und der hat sich in meinem Gedächtnis fest verankert, nämlich der hervorragende Roman von Greg Bear
.
Brandon Q. Morris Roman hat jedoch nichts mit dem Inhalt des Bear-Romans zu tun, es ist der Auftakt einer Trilogie, die in Morris Future History eingebettet ist. (Enceladus, Proxima, Proxima Logbücher, etc.)
Eine Gescheiterte Astronomin (wurde bei einem Paper von ihr mit gefälschten Daten erwischt) entdeckt mit Hilfe eines drittrangigen Teleskops in einer Dunkelwolke merkwürdige Vorgänge, die nicht mit dem gängigen astrophysikalischen Weltbild vereinbar sind. Da ihr in der wissenschaftlichen Welt wegen ihrer Vorgeschichte keiner mehr glaubt, ist sie darauf angewiesen, um an Teleskop-Zeit auf besseren Instrumenten heranzukommen, auf zweifelhafte Verbündete zuzugreifen. Einem katholischen Pfarrer, der den Glauben an Gott verloren hat und der hofft, über die Vorgänge in der Dunkelwolke, wieder an Gott glauben zu können. Ein blinder Raumschiff-Kapitän, der in finanziellen Schwierigkeiten steckt, und eine KI, die brennend daran interessiert ist, herauszufinden, was sich in der Dunkelwolke tut...
Dieser erste Band dient dazu, die Protagonisten kennenzulernen, deren Weltsicht und als Vorbereitung zu einer Reise zu dieser "Schmiede Gottes". Ich fand den Band gar nicht so schlecht, nachdem ich Probleme mit den letzten Arbeiten des Autors hatte. Es ist spannend, die Akteure fand ich gut gezeichnet und sie sind sympathisch charakterisiert, Der Weltenbau ist glaubwürdig und die Technologie ist nachvollziehbar...
Bin gespannt auf die beiden Fortsetzungen...

Diese Serie war... viel. Ist viel!
Die Welt ist unserer so nah und doch so anderes. Und anders ist nur anders, nicht gut nicht schlecht. Sowohl die großen 6 als auch die Menschlichen waren zu jedem Zeitpunkt spannend. Ein Pilzraumschiff der die Erde rettet, ein Wartungsroboter der eine Legion anführt und eine Menge kosmischer Schafe die alles fressen, was sie nicht frisst. Wann immer ich dachte die Geschichte vorausahnen zu können, bewies der Autor dass er deutlich bessere Ideen hatte.

I found it interesting that Herr Morris mentioned Eridu. Eridu (Sumerian: eridugki; Akkadian: irîtu) was a Sumerian city located at Tell Abu Shahrain (Arabic;) an archaeological site in southern Mesopotamia. Eridu was long considered the earliest city in southern Mesopotamia. Located 12 kilometers southwest of Ur, Eridu was the southernmost of a conglomeration of Sumerian cities that grew around temples, almost in sight of one another. These buildings were made of mud brick and built on top of one another. With the temples growing upward and the village growing outward, a larger city was built. In Sumerian mythology, Eridu was originally the home of Enki, later known by the Akkadians as Ea, who was considered to have founded the city. His temple was called E-Abzu, as Enki was believed to live in Abzu, an aquifer from which all life was believed to stem.
Herr Morris also mentioned Cortana, Microsoft’s personal productivity assistant which came out in 2014. I used it on my Windows 10 computer.
It is such a pleasure to read science fiction novels written by a man of science. I have read most of Morris’ novels and have a goal of reading all of them as soon as they are published.

Widać, że autor wie o czym pisze. Mówię tu o całym aspekcie mgławicy. Czułam się jakbym słuchała fabularną książkę popularnonaukową.
Ten ksiądz i cały ten wątek. Trochę nie wiem po co on nam. Mam też problem z tym, że jedna z postaci jest chyba niewidoma. Tak chyba, bo to wybrzmiewa dopiero po 90% książki. Mamy dwóch bohaterów, którzy mają podobne imiona, przez co często mi się mylili. Ostatnie, widać, że tam relacje romantyczne idą w trójkąt (że bohater będzie musiał wybrać). Naprawdę? To trzeba było abo nie wprowadzać Sofi (ona nie ma żadnej roli w tej książce, można by ją wymazać i nic by się nie zmieniło), albo darować sobie insynuacje, że temu kapitanowi to coś się podoba w tej Celi. Ale przecież on zarywa do Sofi...
To jest świeża pozycja, więc kolejnych tomów brak i szczerze nie wiem czy się zabiorę.
Ps. To kolejna książka z motywem sztucznej inteligencji, którą w sumie to jest bogiem. Ona jest wstanie wszystko. Chcesz 24 miliony, a to masz. Trochę to jest nierealistyczne i jest wytrychem. Podobnie jak w "Dzień Kolumba".

I have read a number of Brandon's books, and this one - like all of them as something essential lacking. I think it is due to his German cultural heritage, or perhaps something is getting lost in translation. The characters have no soul. The dialogue is dry and stilted and hardly any character ever uses more than one line. I have no problem with the story arc or the good SF concepts, but the willing suspension of disbelief is tarnished by his soulless characters. It's almost as if an autistic author was trying to write about people with no understanding of their inner self.
All of this being said, I am looking forward to the second book in this series because the ideas are intriguing and the story arc moves along at a reasonable pace with a few interesting twists and turns to keep it lively.

Un libro interesante que parte de un futuro cercano en el 2114 aproximadamente en el que la humanidad ya surca las estrellas "parcialmente" y hay 6 IA que conviven con los humanos (se han independizado de sus empresas creadoras y usan nombres conocidos actualmente) en las que una astrónoma venida a menos por falsear datos, un cura cristiano y su IA Alexa se unen a una tripulación variopinta para estudiar un suceso que no se puede explicar por la ciencia... La historia se lee bien (el comienzo es algo lioso) pero una vez que los protagonistas se unen y empieza la misión la aventura toma forma y se corta, por desgracia, dejando pie a la siguiente novela de la saga... Y dejando todo en el aire sobre la fragua de Dios y las siguientes aventuras.

Intriguing concept
A good mix of human nature and hard science. A little politics, a little economics, we have not advanced as far as I would like, but that is probably more realistic. Ready to continue the story.

I've noticed that these "hard science" is authors tend to be super childish when it comes to interpersonal relationships.

What does a blind ship captain and a disgraced astronomer have in common?
Cecilia is working as a tour guide of the universe at an observatory. Her passion is astronomy, but she cut corners in publishing a study which led to her being disgraced and rejected by her former profession. Fortunately she is able to indulge her passion when there are no tours scheduled and she is investigating dark nebula. One day her data suggests that the a specific nebula is turning out stars in days to weeks rather than more normally agreed upon time frame of eons! Due to her status she cannot get normal access to another telescope to verify her findings so alternative means are necessary....
Meanwhile, the blind Captain Johan, is striving to make a living by using his ship to capture satellites and clean up the space orbits. However, he is having trouble making the ends meet....
The paths of these two people cross in the start of this to be continued adventure.....
This novel features the usual mix of background science, surprises, suspense, intrigue, and the jigsaw ing of information as the tale unfolds. AIs play a significant role with Watson making a return, though currently not interacting 'directly' with the humans in the tale...I'm intrigued to see where this story will go next....

Otro excelente libro de Brandon. Atrapa desde el principio al fin. Y este libro nos lleva al misterioso mundo de la creación del universo. ¿Esta Dios detrás de todo esto? O solo el universo es producto de aleatorias leyes fisicas que ni conocemos ni sospechamos. Quedamos en suspenso hasta el proximo año para saber que hay en esa nebulosa oscura. ¿Celia y el Padre Paul encontrarán a Dios o solo un cumulo de leyes fisicas incomprensibles.? Uh. demasiada espera..... Felcitaciones Brandon!.
