GABBY

A promise is a promise. Deathbed promises are just as binding as regular promises, I suppose. This nagging little thought haunts me as I prepare to marry Phinn. That’s when I decide to run.

I run as far away as the road takes me. Unbeknownst to me, I am about to run into my destiny.

TY

From the moment I see Gabby Roman, I know that we are destined to be together. Something inside of me tells me that she is about to turn my world upside down and inside out. All of the sudden, everything I thought I wanted is irrelevant, including becoming sheriff.

Gabby is the talk of the town. My town has a ‘No outsiders allowed’ mentality. They don't want anyone trying to rock the boat and change up the control they have in this town. They run the show.

I’m an insider by default. They will always accept me. However, they will not accept Gabby. Do I give up my life, livelihood, and family for the girl of my dreams?

GABBY

I’m living a nightmare. I've come to the unfortunate realization that if you weren't born and raised here you will never fit in. Trust me, I've tried. You are prejudged, even though you've never been given the time of day. They look at you like you have the plague.

I’m struggling to find where I fit in. The only thing that does seem to fit is Ty. If only I were strong enough to take it. If only he could see that this town is ripping me and ‘us’ apart.

Wow...that's all a girl can say. July of 2013 I decided to hit publish on a little story called Save. Little did I know what would happen next. I started to get reviews...fan mail...Facebook and Twitter requests. To say I was floored is an understatement. I'm so touched by the welcoming response. More than anything, I am humbled by the thought that you...yes you...downloaded my work and liked it. Sure, I can't please everyone. That being said, the fact that you enjoyed my story/stories means so much more to me. I wish I could hang out with each and every one of you and make you understand what this all means to me. For now...I will say 'Thank you'. And, I will do my best to keep knocking out books as long as you keep reading them.
Love,
Ella

I had the pleasure the read this book in an exchange for an honest review.

Escape by Ella Col was a great read. This is the first book I've read from this author and I can happily say it won't be my last.

I enjoyed the story and relationship between Gabby and Ty. Gabby was a strong heroine, with flaws like anyone else, but she loved Ty and stuck by him even when she had to deal with small-minded people plus the witchy ex.

Ty is a good guy and I liked him as a hero. Though I will admit, there were a few times I wanted to hit him over the head lol.

I enjoyed this book and recommend it to others who love a good story with a happy ending.

I have read every one of Ella's books and I must say she is one of my absolute favorite go to authors. When I read the synopsis for this book I was a little surprised that it was such a different type of story than she normally writes. And she stepped out and did an amazing job! She got the small town atmosphere just right. The development of Ty and Gabby's relationship went at just the right pace. Gabby is a great lead character - confident, successful, and smart. Ty has his life right on track. But once their paths cross, the nosy people in the small town just can't stand to let them be happy together. Also, I must not forget to mention .....I swear this book has the hottest scenes out of any of Ella's books. Whether or not you have read other books by Ella Col, you will love this story. Very highly recommended.

***SOME SPOILERS***

First off let me just say I like the book cover for Escape because it is telling of what is to come inside. Escape was my introduction to author, Ella Col. Escape is an account of main characters Gabriella aka Gabby and Ty's experiences fleeing from aspects of their lives. Each character faces different challenges that ultimately pull them together. They each choose a form of escape to get through the daily grind of life. Both Ty and Gabby use avoidance as a tactic however Gabby has a tendency to run away too. This book is heartbreaking and funny undertaking matters of cancer, bullying, and corruption. It also explores the sentiment actions speak louder than words. In a small town where the people do not welcome nor like new comers and secrets are a foreign concept, can couples survive? When the new love of your life is being harassed by your previous hookup, what do you do? Do you stand by, duck your head in the sand, and hope everything resolves on its own or do you step up and protect the one you love at all costs? This is what our main characters deal with.

Ty is a sergeant running for Sherriff in a small busy body of a town. No matter how nosey the people are Ty takes his job and responsibility seriously and genuinely cares about the community. The townspeople hold Ty in high esteem and have carved out his future (without his approval). They see him being Sherriff and marrying a gal named Beth. Beth sees this future as well until the arrival of Gabby. Unbeknownst to the townsfolk and to Beth, Ty never wanted or saw Beth in his future. Beth was merely the occasional hookup or FWB (friend with benefits).

When Gabby drives all night in her wedding gown after ditching fiancé Phin at the alter, she is pulled over by Ty. With the nearest hotel sixty miles away, Ty cordially invites Gabby to stay in his spare room overnight. An overnight stay turns into two months where Ty and Gabby grow close and eventually became romantically involved.

Ella Col does a good job with the wit and sexual tension between the two. I have to say I did not expect so many descriptive love scenes but enjoyed every minute of them. During one of their more adventurous bedroom sessions, Gabby makes the suggestion that Ty record their tryst. In the end, the recording ends up in the wrong hands, a punch is thrown, and Gabby ends up in jail.

Even though Ty confesses his love for Gabby his actions and thoughts a lot of times show otherwise. I was not happy with the lack of stance Ty showed while his ex bed buddy continually harassed and embarrassed Gabby. Part of his lack of support was due to being conflicted with his love for Gabby and his love for his career.
If faced with losing the election or losing Gabby, I am torn...
Despite Ty's lack of support Gabby graciously keeps her head held high until it's time to walk away.
"...Gabs, why are you leaving me?" "Because words like whore, slut, fat, and stupid are really hard to hear every day. But worse than that...is having you witness that. It's embarrassing, humiliating, and I feel weak. Like you said, nobody likes me here. But they love you. I love you enough to let you go."
description

As previously stated the characters in Escape avoid problems and conflict if possible. I felt for Gabby. She felt like her ex did not fight for her after she jilted him now Ty was doing the same.

My favorite quote
Love is a funny thing. It’s a series of confusing, breathless moments that completely floor you. I wish so badly I was immune to the disease called love. It attacks your brain first, removing all common sense. It leaves your heart defenseless, taking over and destroying it completely.
Escape is a quick and funny read laced with hard realizations . My only negative is I wanted more information about Beth and her puppets. Other than that sit back, relax, and escape into Ty and Gabby's world.

What a great escape! Ella Col’s book is a bit of a switch than her other books. The characters are somewhat older and more mature, and I loved it! The book hooked me from the very beginning and kept me under its spell until the last page was finished.
Gabby has literally driven away from her old life and her fiancé…on her wedding day! She has driven for hours and is exhausted when Ty, a small town sheriff’s deputy, pulls her over for driving erratically. Instead of putting her in jail, he persuades her to stay in the spare room of his house until she decides what her next step is going to be. Sparks fly between the two almost instantly. They try to keep their relationship platonic since she is running from a relationship, and he is running for sheriff. But, how long can they ignore their feelings? Some of the people in town, like Ty’s grandfather and ex, want to make sure these two never get together! Will they be able to keep them apart?

I liked Ty and Gabby as individuals, but I loved them as a couple. Ty was sexy but had the heart of a teddy bear. While I liked Ty, Gabby was my favorite. Ella wrote her in a way that she just jumped off the pages. I felt like I was in the town with her. Gabby has a special place in my heart, and she is a character I won’t soon forget!

Ella also did a great job of describing the small town. I really felt like I was a part of the community, but I was team Gabby all the way! Col really did her research on small town living. I spent 10 years in a small town. When reading Escape, I felt like I was back in that small town, from the way people knew everyone else’s business to people being suspicious of newcomers. However, I will say most of the people allowed Gabby into their hearts at some point in the book.

I have been fortunate to read Ella’s books from the very first one. And, I tell her with each one she gets better. Escape is no exception! No matter what book I am reading by her, she has a common theme of a strong female character, and Gabby is no exception. She is, perhaps, my favorite character from all of her books! Like Gabby, Ella has a special place in my heart. If you love your characters with filled with beauty (both inside and out), then do yourself a favor and open your heart to Gabby. She will make you forget real life if even for a little while!

I had the honor and privilege of reading this book before its release date in exchange for an honest review.

This book told the amazing story of Gabby & Ty. I loved Ty from the very beginning. However, there were definitely a few times where I wanted to punch or shake him for how he was handling certain situations.

I really loved Gabby and found myself wanting to be her friend. I didn't think that I could hate anyone more than Hannah from "Locked" and "Reckless" but I was so wrong, because Beth took evil to a whole new level.

This story was about love, finding yourself, and standing up for what you believe in, even in a small nosy town. I smiled, laughed, and got angry while reading, which to me are all signs of a great book. This book showed that bullying & peer pressure does not just happen in school and that anyone could be a bully even when it's your job to protect & serve.

I would not mind reading a story about Phinn. He was very interesting and it was clear that he did love Gabby, just not enough... Please read this book. You will not be disappointed.

Ella did it again!

Ella col is amazing. I've had the pleasure of reading all of her books so far and each one just seems to get better and better. Her realistic emotions and dialogue between characters is all inspiring. From the first chapter you fall in love with Gabby and later Ty. As with all of her novels, Ella makes these characters seem so realistic they could people be people that you know. As you get to know each of them you find yourself becoming more emotionally invested and almost feeling like they're friends. A great read . If you haven't already I would definitely recommend reading Ella's other series. Ella Col, please never stop writing!

Please note, this review was previously published in 2015 under a profile used by multiple people. I am removing those reviews and republishing them on my new, personal profile.

With her mother on her deathbed, Gabby promises her that she will find a man to fall in love with who will take care of her. Flash forward a few years and while trying to keep that promise, Gabby has become a runaway bride. After driving for days and nearly falling asleep at the wheel, she’s pulled over by Ty, Police Sergeant and candidate for Sheriff. With the nearest hotel over an hour a way, Ty offers Gabby his guest room until she decides what she’s going to do after leaving her fiancé, Phinn.

She finds herself attracted to Ty so she decides to stay. While Ty wants her there, the rest of the townsfolk don’t, and she quickly learns that she’s truly an outsider in a town that doesn’t like outsiders. Her presence with Ty angers everyone as the entire town has big plans for him: Marry Beth and become Sheriff. Therefore, they hate Gabby on site.

I found the town’s attitude and ensuing drama highly unbelievable. Beth was a bitch of colossal proportions and yet everyone who witnessed her actions thought that not only was it acceptable, but they were willing to stand up as witnesses in false police reports against Gabby.

Ty came across as a little gutless, especially when it came to defending Gabby. After witnessing several times how much everyone was against Gabby and the lies they were willing to tell to take her down, he struggles with the position he’s being put in. He loves Gabby, but she’s affecting his chances of becoming Sheriff. And when Gabby is arrested, Ty turns his back on her immediately, not believing for a second that Beth’s claims are false. Don’t get me wrong, he was wicked hot in bed, but outside of the bedroom, nothing else about him was very memorable.

And Gabby felt a little weak to me. She had her reasons for leaving Phinn, but when she left Ty she went straight back to Phinn, despite the fact that the reasons she left him in the first place remain. When Ty comes back to get his woman, she forgives him in 60 seconds flat and tells him that she trusts him to stand up for her.

Sadly, ESCAPE didn’t evoke any real emotions from me.

Gabby Roman has every intention of following through on a promise that she made, but when she feels that she is about to make the biggest mistake of her life, she runs as far as the road will take her. Destiny awaits Gabby, or so she thinks. She finds herself trying to settle in a place where she does not fit in. When Gabby meets Ty, she feels a pull like she’s never felt before. Although the pull is strong for Ty, the small town pettiness is stronger. Will she survive the ridicule or will she run from the one person who makes her feel safe?

Runaway brides are what I link to Julia Roberts' movie of the same title alongside Richard Gere, but as hilarious as they made out the movie to be, I've never really sat back to think what the consequences on the bride could be and why she would run in the first place. Obviously, the immediate answers comets to mind: ridicule and gossip, and she runs because she has cold feet; but Ella Col gives us more, she goes straight for the truth and doesn't try to sugar coat it. Who knew it was more than cold feet that pushes Gabby to run and so far that she is pulled over by police officer Ty because of her erratic driving from exhaustion and having no other alternative but to accept his offer to rent a room from him. These two tried as much as they could to deny their attraction to one another, but as they spent more time together, the chemistry built to such a degree that it was HOT! Ella Col also brought to life the cruelty of human nature to gossip and speak behind one's back - whether positively or negatively - and see/read the effects it has on Gabby is heartbreaking. No one deserves to go through the and suffering of seeing the people around you judge you simply by your actions without knowing the reasons behind them. As much as Escape was temptingly seductive, it was also an emotional rollercoaster that made me wonder if I'd be able to make it through the novel without any tissues or having to take any breaks to hose myself down. Certainly this is one novel that I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend to any readers wanting to add or even discover a new author.

Gabby promised her mum on her death bed she would find the “one” man to fall in love with and live happily ever after…
Many years later Gabby is a runaway bride, escaping her life and falling asleep at the wheel, she is pulled over by Ty a police sergeant, he feels sorry for her and offers her a place to stay till she figures out the next stage of her life..

Sounds good right?? I was so excited when I received this I was thinking Happy, Cute, Fun, Rainbows and Unicorns, Yes I live in a delusional bubble, but I LOVE my place!!
So to my shock, it was going well until the town folk went crazy mean, hated on Gabby made her feel like shit, they want so much more for their golden boy Ty, become sheriff and marry his ex-Beth.. Don’t get me started on that Ice Queen, she had childish spoilt brat syndrome!
Moving on..
Ty was a clueless fool, didn’t believe what was happening and did NOT stand up for Gabby when she needed him the most * BIG NO NO * he turns his back on her leaving her to runaway yet again.
Here I am again, not wanting to rate a book on just How Hot the sex was and how much I adored the Cover, let’s face it I am known to just one click for the cover alone.. Have been for years!!
There chemistry was good, but not strong leaping from the pages keeping my short attention from wondering, I found myself over the last few weeks coming back to reading this one.
Back to the story.. yeah!!

Gabby had her own issues when she left her ex, but when she left Ty and went back to him I was like WHAT! You left him, why would you go back to that.. *so not Ang Friendly* so yeah she went back to the ex despite the reasons she left him in the first place!

When Ty, finally pulls his head from ass he goes and gets his women.. it felt a little rushed and It didn’t tick all my boxes, the characters and the writing is written well enough, I didn’t enjoy the format my arc copy was in, so that took away from the story as well for me.
I might have loved this story in a different light, but unfortunately I didn’t *insert sad face* I’m 100% sure that other readers will enjoy this Quick, Short, Romance with douchey people surrounding the main couple, not wanting the best for them.. Oh and it’s told in duel POV.
So in the end, I’m left feeling unsatisfied and confused with how I feel.. I know right!!

Arc Received for an Honest Review.
2.5 Stars for the Story.. Its fair
1 Star for how beautiful the cover is, it really is a cute cover!!
In total 3.5 Stars.

I absolutely loved Ella Col's Escape!!! Gabby and Ty's story kept me at the edge of my seat. I was dying to know how everything turned out between them.

Ty has his life going exactly as planned and on his way to become sheriff. That's how his grandparents mapped his life out in the small town.

Gabby is confident, smart, and successful but fears confrontations. She runs from her wedding with Phynn to end up staying with Ty.

They try to ignore the sexual tension between them but fail miserably. They fall in love knowing that it is jeopardizing Ty's chance at becoming sheriff. It's a small town and people talk. They don't like change and by change, I mean Gabby! Will their efforts to chase Gabby away work? You have to read to find out!

I am a huge fan of Ella Col's and have read all of her amazing books. She's definitely one of my all-time favorite authors and Escape is different than her usual way of writing but she nailed it!! The sex scenes are steamier and go more in depth and the story is magnetic. I also loved how Gabby is not your normal size 0 character. I highly recommend Gabby and Ty's story. You'll be addicted! And who doesn't love a hot cop? Lol Kudos to Ella Col on this one!!!!

Escape is the first book that I've read by Ella Col, and I really LOVED IT! Gabby Roman's mother, on her death bed, told Gabby that Phinn is not the right man for her. Gabby continues to see him, but it finally got through her head, and on her wedding day, she decides to run. Ty is a police officer in a very small and rigid town. When he comes face to face with the emotionally distraught Gabby, he helps her out by taking her to his house. They get closer, but the town can't stand Gabby, and they don't want Ty to make her his. As the election for sheriff heats up, will Try give up the girl of his dreams to win the election?

Holy hell this town is horrifying, and the way they treat Gabby is wrong on so many levels. The character development is great, although Ty made me mad on more than one occasion when he didn't stick up for Gabby. An original and well written story line flows smoothly. Ella Col does a fantastic job pulling into her exciting world from the very beginning, while keeping me in the same position on my couch until I finished every page. Gabby is a fabulous strong heroine that I could totally relate to. I can say with certainty that I will keep reading this author's books, and I happily HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
