Anything can happen in a year! Unemployed, homeless, and left at the altar, Vivia Perpetua Grant could see her future as a flannel pajama wearing spinster—or worse, a bag lady shuffling around Golden Gate Park. But for a girl obsessed with rock music, Chinese take-out, and the color pink, misfortune is another word for opportunity. Vivia has found her niche as an international travel writer and the long-distance lover of Jean-Luc de Caumont, an über-hot French literature professor and competitive cyclist.
Still, even with so much going right, Vivia can’t help but wonder if something isn’t missing. The long distance thing is taking its toll on a girl who didn’t have that many tokens to begin with. And fate seems to be tempting her at every turn, first with a hunky Scottish helicopter pilot, and then with a British celebrity bad boy... Will Vivia continue to keep it real or will she discover some old habits die hard?

Vivia strikes again! This girls life is never boring! She manages to mingle and meet the rich and famous with no problem. The story takes place in England where she rubs shoulders with the posh and elite in society. This story was cute and it could be a standalone, but it's better read if you've read part one.
There were a lot of pop culture references (some of the characters too closely resembled real life celebrities) so it was a little hard to take the story seriously at times and I wish there were more romance, but this book is light on angst and it's always moving toward some different adventure. Even though I had my issues with this one, Leah Marie Brown is still my go to when I'm in the mood for a good chick-lit. So if you're a chick-lit fan and if you've read part one I think you'll find this one to be enjoyable.
** I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. The expected publication date is September 29th, 2015**
This is the second book in the IT Girls series and I was lucky enough to read the first story Faking It (review found here) and I loved it so I was really looking forward to this story to see where Vivia's adventures will take her next. The first book was absolutely hilarious so I was anxious for Finding It
This story did not disappoint. Vivia was still what I would term as a "hot mess" from beginning to end of the story. This is part of her charm as she travels from one misadventure to the other. It is so refreshing having a character who doesn't have it all together but is still interesting in her efforts to get it all together. This stayed consistent with the first story.
While I believe it would be possible to read this as a stand alone I think it is much better served to read it in order. The story will make a lot more sense and the investment in some of the characters will be greater.
While the general theme remains the same in the two stories, the pop culture references are turned up a notch in this story. From the raunchy British leather clad comedian who was previously married to Kitty Kat to Tay Tay (Taylor Swift) references. Anyone familiar with today's celebrities and pop culture will easily see the references to people whose names have only slightly been altered and some whose names were not. It keeps the story current and can perhaps act as a time capsule twenty years from now.
While I found this story humorous I didn't find it held the same hilarious factor of the first story. This could be that the first one caught me off guard while I knew what to expect with this one. It just felt a little bit like a little more effort had to go in to making this one funny while the first one was effortless. All the same it was still funny and entertaining.
I am so glad that I was introduced to this series. While at its core it is a love story, the massive amounts of misadventure along the way make it surprising, refreshing and unique. I am not sure if there will be more to the series however if there is I will be reading. I'm just not sure how much more of a mess Vivia can make out of her life!
This is one of my favorite romcom series, and the perfect read for brightening your day!
Vivia Perpetua Grant has had an interesting year. After her fiancé left her for one little lie about being a virgin, a sushi roll tattoo procured with a mega star, developing a following doing what she loves (travel writing)and meeting French professor Jean-Luc Caumont, Vivia is questioning whether a long distance relationship with Luc is even worth it. When one little non-Luc kiss makes the twitterverse rounds, her man decrees a break, sending Vivia on a spiral of tears, Scottish whisky and sheep farms. At least Vivia has her BFF's with her…and a very delicious Scottish pilot.
FINDING IT is book 2 in the hysterical It Girl series by Leah Brown, and I'm so glad I finally got the story!! Somehow I missed this one and read book 3 first, which was excellent but sometimes confusing. This filled in so many blanks for me! I absolutely love the humor in this series; Ms. Brown has such a hilarious writing style that kept me cracking up the entire read…Vivia's short stay in the pokey for stalking Prince Harry? Freakin' brilliant!
"I maintain my "Get back, muthafucka" pose until the door closes, and then my bravado fails. My arms and legs begin to tremble. Despite my Boyz in the Hood demeanor, I am no Ice Cube. I've never popped a cap in someone's ass. I've never been in the pokey. I've never even gotten a speeding ticket!
Totally silly and laugh-inducing! With Luc and Vivia on a break, Vivia's antics take a turn for the self-destructive, but she'll do whatever it takes to get back her man. There's a few sweetly sexy scenes, but nothing overtly raunchy in FINDING IT, the real focus being love, friendship, staying true to yourself and figuring out what you want out of life.
Last week I read Faking It, the first book in this series and adored it! This book picks up a year after the first one ends and again (much to my delight) focuses on Vivia. I seriously love her, she was even more outrageous and fun in this book than the last and she just cracks me up! She’s the type of character that you wish was real because you know a night out with her would be amazingly fun and totally unforgettable. I liked that’s she grown and matured since the first book, but her transformation hasn’t completely changed her and she still has issues even though she has come so far. Brown doesn’t try and make her life easy and unrealistic, I appreciate that because no ones life is and often times in CL you get a HEA that’s just a little too perfect and unbelievable.
Two solid books in a row from Brown put her firmly on my short list of must read CL authors, her books are way too witty and entertaining to miss. I’m starting book three ASAP and am so excited it follows Vivia’s BFF Fanny, should be another sassy, sexy read!
I loved Vivia Grant in Faking It. Finding It is even better. Brown has crafted a laugh out loud book with so much heart, you can't help but tear up at times. Think Stephanie Plum without the mystery but a whole lot more reality and a love story with actual promise of a potential HEA one day. You feel like you know Vivia. At times you want to BE Vivia. I've read a ton of great books this break. Finding It ranks among the best. It's the last book I'll read this year. What a way to end. Humorous, heart-felt, deep, real. If you're looking for a great read, you can't go wrong with the It Girl series. If you haven't read Faking It, do that first. Vivia's life lessons need to read in order to get the full impact of their awesomeness. Finding It I posted something similar through the kindle app but it never showed, so I apologize if it ends up here twice.
I actually enjoyed this book even more than I did the first in the series, that may be because I had a better idea going in what to expect but in any event I really enjoyed reading this book.
Brown writes humor extremely well, I find these books funny and I really enjoy my reading experience when reading them.
I do still have a bit of a problem with it seeming like all the attractive men who Vivia meets immediately being attracted to her and none of these men ever seeming to notice her attractive friends but that is really just a small issue.
Overall these books are just very entertaining and fun and I definitely recommend picking them up and can I just say when am I getting a book from Fanny and Poppy's perspective!!? I would love that!
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with a copy to review.
Loved It! This is a great book; this is the second book in the It Girls series by Leah Marie Brown. Vivia Grant is unemployed, homeless, and left at the altar. She believes that she has found her calling as an international travel writer. She seems to have issues finding a good man. The long distance relationship with Jean-Luc de Caumont is taking its toll. If you are looking for a great book with many laugh out loud moments then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to the next book by this author. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
Loved the first one in this series (Faking It) so much, I immediately had to turn to this sequel, Finding It. Leah Marie Brown will crack you up with her witty and funny personable writing style. So glad I found this series! Looking forward to more on these characters from this author. Make sure you read Faking It first so you know what's going on. Looking for a great beach read, a fun laugh out loud romp? You've found it in this series with Leah Marie Brown.
"Finding It," by Leah Marie Brown, is the second book in the It Girls series. At times, it's laugh out loud funny but it's also sad and exhausting. Vivia, the main character, is a hot mess and her shenanigans wore me out. There are a lot of hot guys, great friends, movie references, pop culture fluff, and it was a sweet, fun read, overall.
I can't even. I mean, really. I just finished the book and it is seriously the funniest, most heart-felt, best ever. I loved Vivia in Faking It. I didn't think it was possible to like her more. Wrong. Finding It is incredible. It's over the top craziness, but every step of the way you believe it could be true. I laughed, I cried, I couldn't stop reading.
it was well written and really funny. I liked it better than faking it. it showed more character and realism in many ways. being able to make fun of one self so openly makes it more enjoyable and approachable. just simply a very good read.
I received a copy of this book for free through NetGalley in return for my honest opinion.
The truth is I think I set subconsciously set my hopes too high for this novel. That's not to say that it wasn't a good book and that I didn't like it, I liked, just not nearly as much as I LOVED the first book. And when I say I LOVED the first book, I mean it. It was just the book I was looking for at the time I read it, it was laugh out loud funny, perfect. So, as you can see this book had a lot to live up to, and it just didn't quite make it for me. 3.5 stars (maybe 4, if I hadn't read the first book).
In this book you continue to follow the adventures of Vivia. She is happier than she started out in the first book, but in this book she is still trying to find herself. She is still with Jean-Luc from the first book. She got a new job that lets her travel all over as a result of her antics in the first book. Her job puts in near some pretty hunky guys and she is still trying to decide if Jean-Luc is for her. If he is, she will need to find a new job with less travel involved. OR is she ready to move on and be with other hunky guys. Either way her job has her seriously neglecting her beau and her bestie. She once again gets into funny situations in this continuation of her story, but at the same time, it has a more serious undertone.
I plan on reading the next book in the It Girls series to see where it leads. I believe the third book will be from Fanny's perspective on her adventure in love.
This book should not have worked. It was the second in a series in which I had not read the first. The author seemed to have a "kitchen sink" mentality to plotting, throwing things into the story for the hell of it, and the main character was cringe-worthy in her poor life choices.
...and yet.
I bought the first book before I had finished chapter 5, which should say something about how I enjoyed the book. The main character was endearing in her earnestness and her foot-in-mouth syndrome. And the situations she managed to get herself in were highly entertaining. I loved her two friends, Poppy and Franny, who are more than they appear, and wish that they had played a larger role in the book.
I wish the book had been longer. At its current length, it never felt rushed, but was more shallow than it would have been if there had been more pages devoted to learning about the characters. I also wish that the author had spent less time introducing one-off characters we never saw again after I started liking them.
All in all, a solid chick-lit read. I'm looking forward to reading Faking It, and reading Vivia's backstory which was hinted at pretty heavily in Finding It.
And why doesn't GR give half-star ratings? Because this falls somewhere between a 3-star and a 4-star book. So 3.5 stars.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and I was pleased to dive in to the traveling world of an American in Europe. Upon rereading my initial review, the language I used may not have actually conveyed what I was thinking. I was quickly torn between two and three stars, simply because I found the story very middle of road for my own tastes. It's not terrible, it's just not for me which is why I disagree with the star rating system to begin with.
It has everything you would expect in romcom: love, betrayal, and quirky antics. The story was very predictable (which is what we often look for in this genre) but I was very put off by the constant feel of desperation and the need to be relevant. The never ending pop culture references were unnecessary and by the 3rd chapter I started to sigh with frustration. Vivia could be a strong character, she doesn't need to constantly remind us she's 'urban' and has no self esteem. I just think it reads like a first draft of consciousness. Now she just needs to go back in and make a stronger story out of her framework bc the core of a great story is there. Maybe it's because I came into the series at book #2 but it's missing a real bite as a stand alone story so I'll check out the other book.
I received this book for free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Vivia Grant is the type of character I am looking for in a fun chick lit read. Funny, tenacious and slightly neurotic, she exemplifies what makes a good lead. This was the second in a series, but I did not feel lost having not read the first one. The only thing I was missing was the like of her boyfriend as he was barely featured in this book, and when he was I did not super care for him. But putting him aside it was the supporting cast of friends, Poppy and Fanny, that made this book. They are the kind of girlfriends we all look for and their addition elevated this book. Vivia did have her moments of flighty-ness and there were one or two times I wanted to shake her, but over all she is reminiscent of Becky Bloomwood from the Shopaholic series. So if you are looking for a fast fun read Finding It should go on your list.
Finding it is the second book in the It Girl series by Leah Marie Brown. I enjoyed the first one immensely and when I saw the second one was out I was very excited. This book was just as good as the first. In fact, I read the whole thing last night. It's not a super long book so it is a quick read. Vivia has come a long way from being left at the alter at the beginning of her first book. The book begins with her at Scotland Yard after being arrested for stalking hottie Prince Harry and takes off from there. She and her best friend Franny along with her new friend Poppy take us on another set of hysterical adventures through London and Scotland. Loved, loved, loved it. Take the time to read both.
Loved this book!! So far this one and the first have been a great read. So cute! Although I slightly wish it ended a little differently. I started to root for the Scotsman.

Another fun read - though I didn't enjoy this one nearly as much as Faking It!
Her mistakes were too glaring and not ones I could imagine myself making or forgiving. Though I realize she had to get into scrapes in order to get out of them and give us the drama for the story!
My first time I read it I would have said 4 stars. On the re-read a year later.. dropped to 3.5. So I'm settling for a 4 star!
I read book #2 because I read book #1. This book was ok, at times the main character was annoying. The only time I found myself liking her is when she did something funny. But most of the time she was self destructing...
I simply must say - I love Vivia Perpetua Grant!!! She is my new favourite book character! In this second novel Finding It, she's more funny than I could imagine. I really loved the first book Faking It so I need it to read the second one immediately and had so much fun! This book is so entertaining with a lot of hot guys and great friends. The magical trio - Vivia, Fanny and Poppy are taking us on another set of historical adventures through London and Scotland. Loved it!!!
