The Accord has been broken, the balance of Heaven and Hell shattered.
The war between the armies of Heaven and Hell has been waged on Earth, leaving the world a cracked husk. Humanity clings to life, hidden in the ruins of former cities, seeking refuge from the demons that walk the streets and the angels that soar the darkened skies.
From the mind of Wilson Geiger comes a new series, a frightening vision of the fall of mankind.
Ren and his young daughter, Emma, struggle for survival. When Ren and Emma find refuge at the Haven, a stronghold guarded by the angel Ithuriel and his band of blessed human soldiers against demonic forces lead by Azazel, they may have found the home they so desperately need.
But in the aftermath of the broken Accord, in a world where nowhere is safe, no one can be trusted, and one misstep can lead to death and desolation of the soul, the lines between good and evil blur. Angels cater to their own agendas. Demons wear familiar faces. No one is without a secret. And the dark secrets that Ren and Emma shield from the world and from each other have the power to tip the balance. But in whose favor?
This is the world of Ash and Flame, a dangerous, sinister new place, where survival is more than just staying alive.
Wilson Geiger has been gripped by fantastical worlds not quite our own ever since stumbling upon his father's copy of The Fellowship of the Ring. He writes fantasy and science fiction stories when not maintaining networks, troubleshooting servers, or fighting the good fight against computer illiteracy. Wilson resides in St. Louis, Missouri with his wife, two boys, and a possessive cat.
Wilson Geiger has started out on a new look at the end of times. And at the center of it is the microcosm of one battle being fought over the life of a broken man and his daughter.
Set against the backdrop of a daily struggle just to avoid the cultists and zombie-like denizens wandering the earth is the real struggle not to get caught up in the major battles between the Angels and the Demons that ravage the earth.
Geiger's story is heavier on action than it is on plot. It would make a great TV show along the lines of Supernatural and Grimm.
Great debut, looking forward to seeing where it goes
Good action, fun world-building, some clever plot developments and enough tension to keep it moving. Pretty solid, especially for an authorial debut. The dialog is a bit stiff, but it never gets in the way. Anxious to see where this one goes.
Review to come after a read the whole series. The beginning is good. A angel/devil post-apocalyptic story with a father trying to keep his daughter away from the demons outside (and inside) her.
