A shivering young woman leans against a lamppost in the most notorious street of ill repute in all London. For Asher Colborne, Baron of Wenlock, this is a haunting vision of beauty and wretchedness. Uncharacteristically halting his carriage, he is shocked to discover the thin, dressed-in-rags creature is none other than Chastity Armitage, a beautiful angel who captured his heart at a grand ball more than two years past. For Colborne, her circumstance is a mystery he feels honor bound to unravel.
Chastity and her siblings have been on the run for more than two years. Desperate for food and lodging money, she is forced to sell herself. She never expected a tall, handsome man to appear as if from mist and change her life forever. She is given a choice, continue down the path of never ending poverty or become the baron's mistress.
Though they are both determined the arrangement remain an emotionless business transaction, the attraction between them is scorching. Many barriers and obstacles lay in Chastity and Ash's path. Can the baron and the mistress embrace true love?
What a pleasant surprise. Other than reading a few reviews and the Kindle sample, I went into this erotic historical romance "cold" having never read this author's work before or heard of her. The author did a great job in creating a romantic and believable romance in such a short format.
I have to admit that the idea of Ash, a nobleman, soliciting sex in the seedy side of town seemed distasteful at first, but I was willing to suspend my disbelief. After all, men from all social statuses have engaged in tawdry sex throughout the ages. At least Ash practiced safe sex. And rather than finding the description of Ash and Chastity's first kiss off-putting, I thought it was a realistic depiction. It was also a passionate kiss which set the tone for their future interactions which were frequent, steamy and served to develop their romantic relationship.
The characters were well-developed and, just as important, likable. Chastity (an ironic name) was a sweet, smart and tough heroine. Even though she prostituted herself to protect her two younger siblings, I found it refreshing that Chastity didn't pity herself, or act like she deserved sainthood for doing what she had to do. Her attitude was entirely practical and fueled by deep love. Her siblings were lucky indeed to have her as their protector.
So it's fitting that Chastity herself found someone to protect her. Or rather, he found her. Ash was wonderful. Yes, he'd selfishly planned to turn Chastity into his mistress, and fully admitted to himself that it was so. But I felt Ash made up for it with the way he tried to protect her and her siblings. And it really helped to see how smitten he was with Chastity, despite trying to keep his distance. Lust had driven his actions initially, but love kept him attached.
I liked how the author addressed her characters' motivations within the story. It's worth mentioning as sometimes these reasons are skipped over or don't make sense. In this story, the questions are addressed and do make sense. We are given the answer to whether Chastity approached other avenues before running away. And as mentioned before, Ash's motivations are questioned as well.
All in all, I really liked this and look forward to reading more! I hope Ms. Gerrard has full-length novels to explore...
So, Asher just won at the gaming hell he just left and decided to go down to Shag Alley where it smelled like rotten food, human waste and dirty bodies. Really? That’s what a Baron would do to celebrate his night of winning? Somehow, I doubt that. And she tasted onions when she kissed him and he tasted the odors of the streets when he was kissing her? Yeah, that’s real romantic.
And how are you supposed to like a hero who acts like Chastity, Jon and Hannah aren’t worth getting off the streets unless she’ll be his mistress for a year, with the option to renew the contract he’s talking about? Seriously? We all know how it turned out but it was too late to see him as a hero for me.
He had desired her since he saw her 2 years before at a ball and that desire had not changed. I like sex in my books but this book was built around sex and not the storyline. He had her laying down, sitting on the edge of a table, straddling him, and poured wine on her. This was more about his baser needs and how she could satisfy him. I didn’t feel any kind of emotional love between them as I did a sexual need and his teaching her all he knew sexually. If this book (87 pages) hadn’t been based so much, and had so much, sex it would have been much better. As it was, it was a decent read with a decent story but it would have been nice with a little less sex. I can’t believe I said that but when you have an 87 page book you need less sex and more emotions.
It was nice that Ash beat the hell out of Sir Nigel but that wasn’t nearly enough punishment for a child molester.
Short N Sweet. Damsel in distressed rescued by an initially "questionable" hero but nevertheless, Ash proved himself to be quite an honourable man despite his upbringing and peccadillo of making Chastity his mistress before making her his wife.
Sadly there was no epilogue and the love-making scenes while hot, lacked a carnal primality that I prefer.

The Baron and The Mistress ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Written by Karyn Gerrard
When Lord Asher Colborne, Baron of Wenlock, finds himself looking for sexual release on Shag Alley he is dumbfound to see Chastity Armitage solicitation.
Two years back he had seen this beautiful woman at a ball and has been smitten with her ever since. Asher requests her services and she obliges. Chastity has been on her own with her brother and sister who were mistreated by their step father.
Asher is far from the hero because he offers her to be his mistress and will take in her siblings as well. She must sign a one year contract with him.
Ms Gerrard packs a full story in her 82 page novella. But fair warning it is quite sexually explicit. Included are some very odd places to enjoy a bit of Madera wine.
Let me say this upfront. This is a very sensual read. The love scenes in this tale for some readers could be too hot to handle. Ms. Gerrard is one of those authors that can weave an erotic and sweet love story so well that will have you panting and sighing at the same time.
The story and characters were well written and developed with just enough of complexity in the plot that they felt real and their romance felt tender yet sensual, heartwarming and romantic.
If you've never read this author, this would be a perfect time to start! Just be warned, sensuality in this one is off the charts!
I loved this book - a keeper ! Intense, dramatic, romantic and erotic. A very different story beginning with the seedier side of London and the desperation Chastity and her siblings faced after being forced to flee their home.
This is the first time I have read this author and I can tell you that I plan to get more. The story was so touching, the way Chasity was so strong and I will just say I could not put it down. A definite must read
A weary and despondent young peer of the realm stumbles upon a woman he yearned for years ago in the most unlikely place, an alley he frequents for an illicit encounter.
