Fates Fractured

Power always comes at a price.

Ava Ashvale wanted power. She never expected it to come with chains.

After unlocking dangerous magic she can barely control, Ava should be protected inside the ancient walls of Aurelith Academy. Instead, she finds herself watched, measured, and manipulated by forces far more powerful than she realised.

At this elite magic academy, power doesn’t grant freedom.

It makes you a target.

Her connection with Tobias Starfell — powerful, intense, and completely forbidden — threatens everything. Their bond is dangerous magic, the kind powerful enemies will destroy at any cost. But some bonds cannot be broken without devastating consequences.

As tension spreads through the academy and hidden enemies move in the shadows, Ava is forced to confront a terrifying survival may require sacrifices she isn’t ready to make.

With her found family — Julian, Maddox, Elaine, and the mysterious Arora — Ava must uncover secrets buried deep within the academy’s past, navigate deadly power struggles, and face a prophecy that refuses to release its hold on her destiny.

But the deeper she digs, the more dangerous the truth becomes.

Because darkness is rising beyond the academy walls.

And the greatest threat may come from those she trusts most.

When fate fractures, love becomes a weapon…

I don't know what these books are laced with but I'm an addict!!!!

I couldn't actually believe it when I got to the end of this one because I could have read double what I had and felt like it wasn't enough!!! I got through this so fast!! The story is so addictive! The relationships and friendships are so addictive!! The spice is also SO addictive!!! Also love the intro of a new character to the friendship group!

I'm enjoying this world, this mix of characters together, the magic, the drama!! The banter is also so funny, and I feel like part of the gang when Maxine comes around trying to start trouble 🤣🤭

Book 2 actually made me audibly GASP and feel so stressed out during a particular scene!!! And the ending, I'm just so curious as to how book 3 is going to make this right!!! Also... Dax!!!

As a self confessed slow reader, I read this in 9 hours, which is speed reading for me!

If you like your Romantasy Spicy…you’ll love this!

If you like your MMC to be morally grey… you’ll love this!

If you like elemental magic…guess what…you’ll love this!

If you like found family, enemies to lovers, massive betrayal, twists and turns, characters full of banter, YOU WILL LOVE THIS BOOK!

That’s right! I loved it!

I devoured this book in less than 24 hours, I couldn’t put it down.

I’m going to say it, Fates Fractured is (in my opinion) superior to book one.

The character development is fantastic, the growth and insight into their minds, the expansion on the world building and the connection between Ava & Tobias is on point. I loved the multiple POV’s and being let into the supporting characters minds - we need more Elaine!

I thought that Wildfire was tooooo spicy, whereas the spice in this book is perfect and rightly placed with how the characters connection grows.

This is exactly what I was hoping to get more of in the second book. Loved it and can’t wait for book 3!!

Oh my goodness 🥰🥰 I am in love with this series. This is the first fantasy romance, dark academia I have read, and what an introduction 😍. I can’t fault it at all, I was completely hooked right from the start. Thank you and well done @samanthalouise 🥰 just in case anyone hadn’t already guessed I 100% recommend this one BUT if spice is something you don’t want, this is not for you!!!!

This was everything I needed and more!!

Book one was only the beginning and it felt more about them having fun, new experiences and finding themselves.

This book leant more into the romance between the MMC & FMC which we all needed in our lives. It also really moved more into the plot and futher developed the other loveable side characters. The extra POVs were a treat!

The ending ruined me. You do not feel safe in this book going forwards... I definitely think they're building up to something!

Thanks for the ARC read Samantha another fantastic read, can't wait for Severance (Book 3)!

I’m feeling a little bit torn on this one.

I came into it excited for the relationship development between the FMC and MMC, and Fates Fractured definitely delivered on that.

I read it quickly. I laughed, I cried, I gasped, I yelled.

However, I feel this book became more about the spicy scenes between them, while the plot came second. I actually ended up skimming past some of the spice toward the end just to get back to the story.

I really liked them as a couple, and the spice was definitely spicing - and how power was developed into the spice was so good - but their train of thought became frustrating for me in more serious situations. The weight of what was happening around them just didn’t seem to matter as much as I expected it to, given the stakes of the plot and the MMCs core values and history. At times, opportunities for character development for the FMC adapting to new responsibilities and world-building were lost to unnecessary spice scenes between the MCs.

I would have loved more focus on the academy classes (especially with the development of the FMC’s powers), the rescue efforts for their kidnapped friend, the possibility that other characters may have been alive in the realm all along, and the bigger political threats building in the background. Some threads introduced earlier also seemed to vanish, particularly the uncle mentioned in the first book, whose lack of contact felt important but wasn’t meaningfully followed up here.

I’m still looking forward to the next book, but I’m hoping it will feel a bit more balanced.

This is a 5 star read, no notes! I don't think I've been this excited for a series since Fourth Wing and that says A LOT! 🥹😍

After falling hard for book 1 I didn't think I could love book 2 more and I was so wrong.

This world literally takes over your brain, the character development for everyone is so clear and not lost at all, sometimes it can be hard to keep building character personalities and they can get lost but that isn't the case at all with this book, so many of them have grown layers in book 2.

The suspense built throughout the plot keeps you hooked, the couples relationships grow and are real and doesn't get stale.

The found family in it just is filled with swoon worthy love and Tobias Star fell is just the ultimate book boyfriend at this point.

If you like academic setting, elemental magic, Fae kingdoms, fated love, found family, tension and twists out of your ears. You need to read this book.

Oh wow was this one different from the first, but I still absolutely loved it.

Book 2 follows on straight from the events of book 1 which I won’t mention because SPOILERS… however this one you see a new side to the characters and how they over come the events that took place.

The group continue to grow and show the spice was still spicy but different from the first

Maddox is an absolute hoot, his one liners are fantastic!

• Forbidden romance
• Magic academy intrigue
• Slow burn fantasy romance
• Found family friendships
• Morally grey heroes
• Dangerous magic and prophecy
• High-stakes destiny and betrayal

Welcome back to Aurelith Academy—where we’re thrown straight back into the chaos from the very first page. This world doesn’t just pull you in… it completely consumes you. I am OBSESSED.

The character development is so well done—every arc feels intentional, clear, and deeply satisfying (which, for me, is everything). The suspense builds flawlessly, keeping you hooked and constantly needing more.

And the found family feel... I am absolutely LIVING for it. The bonds, the loyalty, the swoon-worthy moments—it’s all perfection.
Now let’s talk about Tobias Starfell. The ultimate book boyfriend. Possessive, intense, and utterly addictive in all the right ways, I’m not even sorry about how much I love him. Truly, he has me in a chokehold. 😍😍

Every character plays such a vital role in the story, and each one will steal a piece of your heart and its utterly beautiful.
If you love, Academic settings with Elemental magic, Fae kingdoms, Fated love, the found family vibe and tension and twist after twist

Then you honestly need to read this book and series

🔥"“You are my home, my love. Not the academy, not this realm. You. You are where I belong, and you, my Starfire, will forever be the reason I fight to be enough. Not for the world, not for a throne, just you.”
🍃““You really need to stop sending me these sordid dreams of yours, Starfire. It’s becoming impossible to control myself.”

This sequel picks up right where the chaos left off. It’s the kind of book that takes over your brain, refuses to leave, and makes you forget that "real life" even exists. Ava is no longer just "the new girl"—she’s a powerhouse trying to survive a prophecy that wants to tear her apart. The world-building expands so much in this book; we finally see the true danger lurking outside the Academy walls, and the stakes feel so much higher.
The world-building has expanded beautifully, weaving together Elemental Magic, Fae Kingdoms, and Fated Love in a way that feels both classic and completely fresh. If you’re a fan of Fourth Wing, this is your next obsession.

Tobias Starfell. My Man 😍The reviews are in, and the verdict is unanimous: he is in the top 5 book boyfriends. Possessive in all the right ways, and utterly addictive, Tobias makes all readers weak at the knees.

Zero "Second Book Syndrome": This is better, hotter, and more emotional than the first.

I read this book in a day and I mean a day where I couldn’t put my kindle down for more than 30 seconds before getting withdrawal symptoms.

Although this book was spicy I felt like it was more of an emotional spicy. The character development was incredible, seeing the friendships and relationships bloom just made me want to sit there in awe.

The cliff hanger at the end!! I’m sorry what!!
I can just imagine Ava shouting “where the hell is my boyfriend”
