***Holly ~ a Novella gives you a small peek into the life of Holly-Rose Taylor, Brandon and Alexis’ daughter from the Misjudged Series—thirteen years on. This can be read as a New Adult standalone novella as spoilers are kept to the absolute minimum, and can also be read as the prequel to No Strings, a standalone full-length novel which will be releasing in late 2015***
This isn’t about what happened in the past. It’s about what I want in my future. I want to grow up. Find my feet. I just want to be eighteen.
I have aspirations. Life goals. I also have an overprotective father.
Then there’s Devon.
I’m just a girl. He’s just a boy.
The problem? Well, there really wasn’t one. We despised each other with a passion, until something changed.
Hi, I’m Holly-Rose Taylor, and this is a story about the first time I fell in love.
I love it, does that surprise you? Holly, all grown up and yep Brandon...my dream guy (one of many)well it's so nice to hear about him again but wow, it made me so sad. I know this is selfish but I hope he keeps his 2nd promise which is hard to control but this guy seemed to always keep them, except for one God-aweful disaster, ewwww! I'm happy the writing is the same as the others, just like her dad she talks to us as well and I'm sure we will see more of it in the final full length which will be hard to wait for! I'm for some reason scared, although the way Brandon's character has always been, that this won't happen...Auntie Rach becomes closer than she is!
OMG Sarah Elizabeth has done it again. I absolutely loved this book and couldn't put it down. Holly-Rose Taylor has spunk and is fiesty. I loved that about her character. Sarah Elizabeth is an amazing author and I love her books. They are definite must reads
So I was looking for a short read as I was waiting for the next book in a series I was reading and I came across this little gem. I loved it right from the start. It's got a great story and characters that I just loved. I'll look forward to reading more from this author.
After reading 5 books of the Misjudged series, it was a logical consequence that I was going to read this one as well.
In this book which can be read as as stand-alone(which I wouldn't recommend as some parts of the book are even more logical when you know what happened before), we get to know more about Holly who is the daughter of Brandon and Alexis, the main characters of the Misjudged series. In this book we get to know what happens with her and how she deals with her life after her mother and the wife of Brandon dies when she was a small kid. On these around 100 pages the reader is confronted with the overprotective "daddy" who just wants to protect his daughter, totally understandable as you know what happened at the end of #Misjudged. With Devon the story gets more exiting and lively as he seems to cause trouble in Holly's life.
I really love the way how Sarah Elizabeth described the father-daughter-relationship. This combined with Devon who seems to be not the guy everybody thinks he is, you dip into a new story that includes a lot of interesting attempts how the story could go on.
At this point I want to explain why I rated this books with 4 stars and not five as it is in general again a book you just need to fall in love with. I am 100per cent sure that with the upcoming sequel, the impression will be a different one. Right now, the story just feels kind of unfinished because we get to know a lot of important parts, but there is this special feeling I can't really put into words.
If the author does what she did in the other books, I will overthink my rating.
I have been waiting since Christmas to read this novella. The author wanted it to be just right before she released it, but that obviously meant a delay. I can assure all those wanting to read this that the delay was so worth it!
As a huge fan of the Misjudged series I couldn't wait to read Holly's story. There are some references to things which happened in the series, but not so many that someone who hasn't read this author before would be confused reading this story. However, in my opinion, I would say read the Misjudged series first. It not only sets the scene, it also allows you to know what is being referred to in more than a few chapters in Holly.
Holly is as kick ass as her dad, the amazing Brandon 'freaking' Taylor! He features a lot in this novella. It was so nice having him back in a book, he has become one of my favourite book guys! This is a testament to the authors ability to bring a character to life in such a way the reader thinks of him as a 'real' person.
The other guy in this book is Devon. The interaction between Devon and Holly is written really well. The insults they throw at each other are simply brilliant, and I laughed so much while reading. They are so well matched, yet they are almost sworn enemies right from the start of the story.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and cannot wait to read more. This author is most definitely one of my favourites.
I should probably be sleeping right now but I had to finish Holly before I went to bed. ( Even though I started when I laid down) I loved the misjudged series all the books 1-5 and Holly is omg amazing! I would recommend you read them in order then you can find out the story that leads to Holly.. Believe me you will love them all!
Holly is beautiful, loving, strong willed and now 18. Wow. Her curfew is 9pm even on the weekends and her dad has to know where she is at all times..But her friends aren't faced with the same issues. She gets into a argument at school with this guy named Devon he is definitely a cutie! When busted by the teacher the punishment her and Devon are faced with changes everything!
The story was just magnificent, spectacular, Aaamazing!!! Not really one particular word to describe any of the books from MISJUDGED SERIES 1-5 to HOLLY so I'll use more then 1! I wish it was November so I could get a hold of NO STRINGS!
Sarah I am so glad you wrote Holly and your writing "No Strings" Yep I'm addicted to your writing and for that I thank you for these wonderful books
This is a novella by word count but it certainly doesn't lack content. True to Sarah's writing she'll draw so many emotions from you. I was laughing one minute crying the next. They weren't exactly happy tears, it was more because of memories that were brought up. If you've read the Misjudged series you'll know what I mean. However it isn't necessary to have read them, this is a standalone. It's hard to explain without giving anything away but whether you've read the series or not you won't help but feel the emotion! I absolutely loved Holly's character she is most definitely her father's daughter, although you got glimpses of her mother too. She has obviously grown since we last read about her, and it's a treat to see how life is now for the Taylor's. Devon, her nemesis at the start is a typical cocky college age boy but as the story goes on you see a different side to him that will have you falling head over heals for him. Can't wait for Holly's full length novel No Strings.
Sarah created a series that touched my heart from the the first book, the ups and downs with this family are well known and I couldn't wait to see the woman that Brandon and Alexis's little girl had become and Sarah didn't disappoint us. I have had this book since release day but for me it was like that last chocolate that you want to save because you know it's gonna be special and once you eat it, it's gone so I held onto it but I was soooo curious. There were several points where I cried because that ending ( you know the one ) it still hurts, thinking about it still makes me cry but I laughed a lot cause Holly is sooo damn cute, the relationship with her dad was all I thought it would be. I can't wait for more from Holly, I'm sorry Sarah but I don't think that family is ever gonna let you go.
Wow so not disappointed with this insight into Holly & Brandon's life. Holly was kickass, smart & sassy but really would we have expected anything else from Brandon's girl but she did meet her match in the equally strong character of Devon...hate at first sight...but I loved them together. Loved all the scenes but particularly those with MY beloved Brandon who we first met in the fantastic Misjudged series ( remember this can be read as a standalone novella but for all of those answers that may crop up you'll be missing out if you don't read them) , he is witty...smart...sexy and protective of his last reason to live Holly. Fabulous and I cannot wait to later in the year for more it's gonna be a heck of a ride!
Squeeee!!!!! This is the first book I've read by Sarah Elizabeth, and I'm hooked! I need more Holly and Devon stat! This novella can be read as a standalone, but it is also a prequel to No Strings. I can guarantee you that after you read it, you will be on pins and needles waiting for No Strings like I am! Sarah Elizabeth's writing style is just amazing. She created a beautiful story with this novella and left me thinking of the characters even days after reading it. I teared up, I laughed out loud with a big smile on my face, and I swooned. I most definitely recommend reading this book!
Sarah did it again. She pulls you in right from the first page and you just can't put the book down. I absolutely loved Holly she's a sassy, stubborn little thing that will make you want to know more about her and what will happen to her once she leaves home after living alone with her father for thirteen years. Brilliantly written, both hilarious and touching, Sarah had me in tears once again. I can't wait to find out what happens to Holly in Bliss.
Aww absolutely loved this little insight into Brandon and Hollys life. It was definitely worth the wait. Roll on No Strings as I can never have enough of Brandon Taylor and his family. Well done yet again Sarah Elizabeth
