Eddy Inserra III is the grandson of Fred G. Pastore — the IRS Intelligence Division supervisor they called "The Eliot Ness of Boston" — and the author of Confidence of the Mob, the true story his family kept sealed for six decades.

The book began with a weathered Florida Citrus box discovered in his mother's attic: inside were Fred's original case files, government memos, press clippings, and handwritten notes documenting his pursuit of the Patriarca crime family, a tax scandal that reached the Eisenhower White House, and a confrontation with Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy that ended his government career — and began a very different one. Piecing the documents together with firsthand interviews and archival research at the JFK Library and the National Archives, Eddy reconstructed the double life his grandfather never spoke of.

Eddy is also the creator and host of the book's companion podcast, featuring the voices of former agents, attorneys, family members, and Fred's former clients. His work has been featured on the Gangland Wire podcast and in the Daily Times Chronicle, and Fred's original documents and artifacts are being prepared for exhibit at The Mob Museum in Las Vegas.

Born and raised in Woburn, Massachusetts, Eddy is a lifelong entrepreneur who lives in Massachusetts with his family. If you knew Fred, or ever heard his name, he'd love to hear from you — contact him through the website.
