This story absolutely consumed me. This book feels like black feathers, sharpened teeth, and obsession wrapped in smoke. The atmosphere alone could suffocate you in the best possible way. 🖤
The hunter x monster dynamic was feral perfection. Watching a man built on control fall apart over the very creature he was meant to destroy? Deliciously toxic. Every interaction carried this razor-wire tension where devotion and destruction blurred together until I honestly couldn’t tell which one would win.
The MMC is terrifying in that calm, deadly way that makes every scene feel loaded like a gun on a velvet pillow. And the FMC? Not weak. Not helpless. She meets his darkness head-on, which made their chemistry feel explosive instead of one-sided.
The world-building gave secret society gothic fantasy with blood-soaked rankings, dangerous politics, and monsters that felt ancient and hungry. It read like a cathedral lit entirely by candlelight and bad decisions. 🔥

While it didn't completely hit the five-star mark for me, it was still a fantastic read overall, delivering a dark fantasy that is incredibly hard to put down. I would’ve loved more of Ryaht’s backstory before he met Aria, but the sheer momentum of the plot kept me hooked.

I’d give this book a solid 3.5/5 stars. Ryaht is heavily inspired by Dean Winchester from Supernatural, and you can definitely feel that influence throughout the story. I really wanted to absolutely love this book, but for me, something was missing. Parts of the story felt a little rushed, and I would’ve loved more of Ryaht’s backstory before he met Aria. Still, it was a good read overall, and I’m grateful to have received this book as an ARC.

I actually really enjoyed this book! It started slow but by mid point is when it sucked me in. I absolutely loved Aria and her mismatched eyes. And the initiation scene? OMG! The spice was spicing and the thrill was exciting.

Ryaht does give off Dean Winchester from Supernatural and you can feel the similarity. The hunter and monster dynamic was delicious and absolute perfection...especially the initiation scene. Scorcher for sure. There are some unexpected twists and then the ending...come on now...I need more!!
