Someone is killing students at Bethlehem Glorious High School

When Chisom transfers to Bethlehem Glorious High School, all she wants is to start over—blend in, keep her head down, and focus on finishing strong. But from her very first day, she crosses paths with the Notorious Five, a group of popular, untouchable boys whose cruel games leave scars no one sees. Then the unthinkable happens: one of them dies. Then another. And another.

As tension grips the school, rumours swirl and allegiances shift. Chisom finds herself at the centre of suspicion, drawn into a mystery she never asked to solve. With every question she asks, the walls close in tighter—and every answer leads her deeper into a web of secrets, silence, and betrayal.

Set against the vivid backdrop of Port Harcourt, this suspenseful literary thriller explores power, complicity, and what it means to stand your ground when no one else will.

I really enjoyed this book! I loved the teenage setting and how it explored the complexity that can exist in that stage of life. The mystery kept me hooked I genuinely couldn’t figure out who was responsible for the longest time. The characters were engaging, and the author did a great job developing them while also keeping the suspense strong. I found myself constantly trying to piece things together along the way.

I also liked that the book highlighted how patriarchal stereotypes can foster problematic situations. That felt especially relevant today and left me thinking about a lot of different things even after I finished reading.

That said, the ending did feel a bit confusing. There were so many suspects that it became hard to keep track of everyone at times. Overall, I really enjoyed reading this. It was a fun, engaging book, and I would definitely recommend it!

Hurt people, hurt people…

📖Everyone in Bethlehem Glorious High School knows to avoid the ‘Notorious Five’. Chisom a new student, doesn’t and so when they provoke her, she fights back. Days later, the boys start dropping dead like flies. While majority of the students are happy about their sudden deaths, fingers point at Chisom as the suspect. When the police are called in to investigate, she must prove she isn’t the killer.

📝 I enjoyed this YA and went through it quickly. Trying to figure out whodunnit stressed my head but in a good way. I was engaged and eager to see how things would unfold. I also liked that I didn’t guess the culprit. All three suspects I had in mind turned out to be wrong, which shows how well the twists were crafted.

📝 This would work well as a limited series, although some scenes would be hard to watch.

📝 There were characters I felt for and the book highlights how sometimes parents don’t always truly know their kids. It also shows how cruel kids can be especially when they believe there would be no consequences.

🌚That said, there were a few parts that felt irrelevant to the plot and slowed the pacing. Also, the way the school authorities handled the bullying didn’t add up. I expected more here e.g. maybe a blackmail or a damaging secret involving the principal or teachers to make it more believable.

💭Overall, this was an interesting and engaging read. Definitely worth checking out.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Boys Will Be Boys. Miracle is an exceptionally talented writer, and this book is a clear reflection of her skill and creativity. From the very beginning, the storytelling was engaging, with a natural flow that made it easy to stay immersed.
What stood out most to me was how relatable and vivid the settings felt.
Having spent time in Port Harcourt, I could easily connect with some of the locations mentioned, while even unfamiliar places were described so well that they felt real and easy to visualize.
The suspense was brilliantly executed, keeping me fully engaged and constantly guessing.
I was genuinely tempted to skip ahead to the ending, but the buildup made the final reveal even more satisfying.
This book held my attention and I found myself reading during every spare moment, whether at work, in transit, or even while walking, because I simply couldn’t put it down.
Overall, Boys Will Be Boys is a captivating and well-crafted story. I look forward to reading more from Miracle in the future.

What happens when a new student, Chisom, joins Bethlehem Glorious High School and dares to stand up to the Notorious Five?
One by one… they start dying.
From the very beginning, the tension was there. I was suspecting EVERYBODY
And guess what? All my suspects were wrong
The mystery and suspense were so well written. When the murderer was finally revealed, it wasn’t who I expected at all it was smart, calculated, and honestly impressive.
The Port Harcourt setting made everything feel even more real, like this could actually happen 👀
But beyond the mystery, this book highlights something serious bullying.
Not just the act itself, but what happens when it’s ignored.
Schools need to do better.
If a student reports bullying, investigate it. Take action. Give consequences.
Because sweeping things under the carpet and just preaching “repentance” like the principal of Bethlehem Glorious High School can push victims to the edge… and sometimes, to revenge.
