SPLINTER is part of the Classic Fairytales with a Taste of Darkness series, and I read it following Caged, so I knew the references made to the Queen and her Consorts. However, you don't need to have read it to enjoy this one.

Sable isn't a princess. She's just a farm girl, growing up and loving her blacksmith best friend, Garren. She escapes being found out as an omega under the old king, but is noticed once the new queen comes into power. She is taken to the tower for her protection and to learn all about omegas and alphas under the new rule. Cayden, one of the Wardens there, feels a connection with Sable, but also knows she doesn't want anyone but Garren. When the time of choosing comes around, though, Garren doesn't show up. Through Cayden's investigations, they learn Garren has gone to the Winter Court, but not voluntarily. The two of them embark on a rescue mission, learning more about each other every step of the way.

I loved being back in this world, and this was a great story to return with. Sable, Garren, and Cayden are all wonderful characters with a lot to give to the story. The story follows a familiar path, but with MFM and omegaverse thrown in there too. I personally loved how the story followed on in Queen Aveline's rule, so I could see how different it was.

The pacing was smooth, and the world- and character-building was just as good as I expected. I definitely recommend this book and series. 4 out of 5 great stars.

I really enjoyed the idea of this book and that the cover was so well done and that the concept was a Snow Queen retelling, I thought the story was really well done and worked as a original story. Sabrina Silvers has a strong writing style and was engaged with everything that was happening with the characters. The characters were developed perfectly and was hooked from the first page. It was everything that I wanted and was glad I got to read this.

Wow this book was good. I loved the overall story line. I can't wait to read more books in this universe by the author.
