SPLINTER is part of the Classic Fairytales with a Taste of Darkness series, and I read it following Caged, so I knew the references made to the Queen and her Consorts. However, you don't need to have read it to enjoy this one.
Sable isn't a princess. She's just a farm girl, growing up and loving her blacksmith best friend, Garren. She escapes being found out as an omega under the old king, but is noticed once the new queen comes into power. She is taken to the tower for her protection and to learn all about omegas and alphas under the new rule. Cayden, one of the Wardens there, feels a connection with Sable, but also knows she doesn't want anyone but Garren. When the time of choosing comes around, though, Garren doesn't show up. Through Cayden's investigations, they learn Garren has gone to the Winter Court, but not voluntarily. The two of them embark on a rescue mission, learning more about each other every step of the way.
I loved being back in this world, and this was a great story to return with. Sable, Garren, and Cayden are all wonderful characters with a lot to give to the story. The story follows a familiar path, but with MFM and omegaverse thrown in there too. I personally loved how the story followed on in Queen Aveline's rule, so I could see how different it was.
The pacing was smooth, and the world- and character-building was just as good as I expected. I definitely recommend this book and series. 4 out of 5 great stars.

This story is triple POV, well written, and a initially slow becoming fast-paced, Snow Queen fairytale retelling, ménage a trois, fated mates, fantasy omegaverse romance between Sable, the female omega lead, Garren, the male alpha blacksmith lead who has been her companion and choice since childhood, and Cayden, the male alpha warden lead who was in charge of Sable’s omega education. I appreciated Sable’s determination to recover Garren and the self-sacrifice she was willing to make. I enjoyed Cayden’s confident identification of Sable as scent match and appreciated his support of her choice to the extent of self-sacrifice. I enjoyed seeing Garren identify his mistakes and work to rectify them with the support of the others. I enjoyed the building intimacy and the focus on Sable by both males in intimate scenes. I was amused by Sable’s initial consternation at the solution found for the antagonist. I enjoyed the joyful ending.

This is a dark retelling of the Snow Queen in this Classic Fairytales with a Taste of Darkness series. Told from the POV of the main characters it follows Sable, an Omega, enter training while pining for Garren, her childhood friend with whom she has started to bond. When he doesn't appear for the selection Sable and Cayden, the warden at the Tower, who also has feelings for Sable, embark on a mission to rescue Garden from the clutches of Isolde, the Snow Queen.
Is a mate bond strong enough to defeat a magic curse and bring Garren back to both Cayden and Sable? Does Isolde get what she truly deserves or is there more to her than we realise? A beautiful, spicy and dramatic retelling of a classic that I really enjoyed. Whilst this story moves on from Caged, Splinter can be read as a standalone.
Is a mate bond strong enough to defeat a magic curse and bring Garren back to both Cayden and Sable? Does Isolde get what she truly deserves or is there more to her than we realise? If you love Omegaverse, why choose fairy tale retellings with a strong FMC that takes no crap and two strong (well mostly) MMCs, you will absolutely love this book. Sable was an Omega that had to hide her scent or the Unseelie king would have taken her. After the king is defeated there were protections put in place for Omegas and Warren, the Alpha who grew up with Sable knew he was her Alpha. Enter Cayden an Alpha who was one of the Wardens that protected the omegas. Things were crazy and there was so many things that happened, but if I say much more then I will spoil it. But it did end with an HEA for everyone.

I really enjoyed the idea of this book and that the cover was so well done and that the concept was a Snow Queen retelling, I thought the story was really well done and worked as a original story. Sabrina Silvers has a strong writing style and was engaged with everything that was happening with the characters. The characters were developed perfectly and was hooked from the first page. It was everything that I wanted and was glad I got to read this.

What a great twist to the evil queen from snow white, but also mixed in with Elsa from frozen! I found myself on team cayden pretty early on, but could still respect that ending 👏🏻 the torture of a slow burn omegaverse 😂 also, we need another book from the snow queen's perspective 👀 this book was told from Sable, Garren, and Cayden's POVs
I did read Caged before this which I think added to the story. It's the story of queen Aveline and her consorts. However, I don't think it's necessary to have to read first.

Rescuing Their Alpha
Sable knows that Garrin is her Alpha, has known since they were kids, so when he goes missing for her Selection Day, she knows something has gone wrong. Cayden knows this as well, and as much as he wants Sable to choose him as her Alpha, he needs to do what’s right. I felt swept away on this journey with these three, the emotional turmoil of Sable’s conflicted feelings, Cayden’s fatalistic altruism was so heartbreaking and the pain, both physical and emotional, that splinter caused Garrin - it all kept be absolutely enthralled. A simply amazing story.

While I have never read the original story of The Snow Queen, I do know the gist of how it was written. This re-telling was far more interesting than I expected and I absolutely loved the suspense. Garren’s internal struggle added a depth of emotional pain that intertwined beautifully with Caden and Sable’s own. However, what emerges is a stronger connection that no one could have imagined. I could not put it down.

This is a very enjoyable read that manages to fuse the classic fairytale with a darker theme and a more modern viewpoint.
Sable is a great character who is searching for the man she loves, Garren and is being helped by Cayden, who believes they should be together. They are a twisted triangle, full of pent-up emotion, and fuelled by dangerous situations and denied feelings.
This is a book full of danger, intrigue and tension.
This story is a very well-written and is a must-read!

A well written Snow Queen retelling with engaging characters as Sable goes to rescue Garren, her childhood friend and chosen Alpha from the Winter Court with the help of Cayden, a warden who is also interested in Sable. The world building was fabulous. An enjoyable story as they try to help Garren remember.

This was an entertaining story, with angst, tension, danger and suspense. Sable was a strong FMC and Caden was so supportive of her, and Garren went through a lot of personal growth. I enjoyed the read.
