Single mom Raylyn and her baby Nova leaves a luxury life in New York after a devastating cheating scandal that left her with nothing. Using the secret stash of her mother's inheritance she purchases her dream farm in a small town in the Midwest. Away from media, backstabbing friends, and her cocky ex. Jefferson, a native to the area is a plain stunning example of the hardworking male. His divorce left him heartbroken, not only because his wife left, but for the reason she did it. He's in no way ready for a hot, dirty romance. But after meeting sassy Raylyn from New York, he has a hard time leaving those steamy thoughts alone. A neighboring farm outside of town secretly shelters mentally ill Sarah, desperate for a baby, in the belief she will become less of a social outcast raising a child and finding a man to share that dream with. When Sarah hears the news of a single mom moving into a farm not too far from hers, she believes it to be an omen she's destined to follow. That baby must be hers.

I'm glad I had the opportunity to read this book; I wouldn't want to miss Jefferson. Just by reading the words I can picture him standing in front of me: tall, dark, moody, but with a wicked smile entailing something is hiding underneath. This is hot.
Can I please have a hot mechanic like Jefferson come over to my house and fix my car? Gosh, I wish so. Loved the mix of romance, erotica, and suspense. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
I actually really enjoyed this book! I loved both the main characters. Jefferson is this wonderful, tall, dark, handsome dude with the softest gooey center of a heart, while Raylyn was hilarious in her quirky, awkward, but adorable outburts. The chemistry between them is immediate, which is something I’m not usually that fond of, but the author managed to do it in a way that I felt was natural when two people just meet that certain someone and have that instant attraction. Intimate scenes are sizzling and sometimes a bit crazy, but I am totally okay with that. There is some danger, lots of romance, and even a little touch of mystery here and there. A potent mix that works well. Thank you author for a fun read! Will be reading more in the future!
Sarah Wants a Baby. After having read numerous pages of this novel, it suddenly occurred to me that I did not know the primary female character’s first name. I was in the same situation as the primary male character. Jeff did not discover that the stunning woman who caught his eye in the country village’s only grocery store was named Raylyn until much later when she visited his garage, the only one in town, for a minor automobile repair. For the early portion of the novel, Raylyn was referred to only by pronouns—she or her— mostly she. It created a free-floating atmosphere for this reader who wanted to know who “she” was as much as Jeff did. It turned out that “she” and her baby girl, Nova, moved to the countryside to escape an unloving oaf of a husband and father. Raylyn is devoted to her daughter and speaks to her as if she were an adult—that is very good for babies. Jeff and Raylyn, both having been bruised in love, are unique characters. They are sweet and innocent, but both have incredibly active erotic imaginations. Not just imaginations—they like to act them out. A broom handle—give me a break. Yet, violence or nastiness does not occur—these young people just like kinky sex. The mysterious Sarah appears briefly in the prologue and as the baby thief toward the novel’s end. Her character and actions are not well motivated, rather she functions as a deus ex machina that ultimately unites Raylyn, Jeff, and the baby Nova. There are problems with typos; nevertheless, I enjoyed this first Romance novel I have ever read.
I love romance with single parents in there. But only when the kids also have a role.
So, I was not fully convinced by this one...
Characters? Plot? Didn’t like the plot that much. The female main character was no heroine; she was more like a damsel in distress – too often. And then there is one scene where she acts like superwoman and goes after the criminal. Of course, oh what a surprise, then it’s again Jeff who saves the day.
The novel did not reveal that much about the main characters. We never get to know anything about Raylyn’s past, why she married this guy, what happened to her before she had Nova. Nothing. Also, Raylyn’s kid Nova never really plays that big of a role. Sure it’s mentioned that Jeff is so great with her but we never really see him interact with her, play with her,…
Oh yeah, and did I mention that the introduction and the blurb gave away the whole story?? I mean, that takes away the whole suspense...
All in all, this was a very hot and dirty romance but there just weren't enough scenes with the kid and the whole plot was not mine... We don't get to know their friends, don't get an insight into their daily life...
Writing style? Way too many mistakes. There was one on the first page and I was like… R u kidding me? Except for that, it was okay. Liked that the characters took their time and that they didn't fall madly in love after a week.
Burned Gasoline is a book that truly surprised me. When I started to read the story of hot mechanic Jefferson and single-mom Raylyn, I thought I knew what was in store for me in the pages ahead. However, as I delved further into the book, I soon realized that it was going to be much better than I anticipated.
Jeff and Raylyn are two people that on the surface should not work together. But, both having been bruised in love, are unique characters, and when they come together, the chemistry is undeniable. It is as if the reader can feel the tension and then the sizzle radiate off the page. They seem sweet and innocent, but both have incredibly active erotic imaginations, which they like to act out, making the story fast paced and kinky.
Although the plot centers around the lead character's chemistry, it does have suspense too. There is something that is hanging over their heads. With the mysterious baby thief, Sarah, around the corner, Raylyn must fight for what is hers. The only question is, will Jeff be at her side or will all her fears push him away?
With a seamless balance of sexy, heartfelt emotions, and suspense, Isabell Lawless weaves together a plot that grips you.
This might be an okay book, however there are a lot of errors that kind of make it take longer to read and the characters seem kind of immature for their 30+ years.
Raylyn is a single mom that moved far away from her old life to start over with her baby girl Nova.
Jefferson is a divorcee trying to take care of his sick mother and not looking for a relationship.
When Raylyn and Jefferson first meet the encounter is pretty hilarious, as well as their next few interactions. However the way the come together is a little far fetched. Then there is the suspense... there is not really a whole lot that builds up to it, just a little touch here and there talking about weird things that happen, so it seems like a stretch as well, especially after reading the synopsis for the book?
I think there was potential for this book, but it needs to be reworked some to make it more believable for the characters.
I read this book back in the summer and when I went to post a review for it, I couldn't remember anything about it So I had to read the outline to remind. "Oh right, right" I remembered. But then I still couldn't remember that much about it.
I liked it, I liked Jefferson, the hero quite a bit. I love the blue collar, working physically for a living hero and that alone gets points. But I'm coming up blank trying to remember the heroine to be honest. Unfortunately this makes for a pretty skimpy review doesn't it? It's the first book in a series and since it didn't start of with a bang for me alas, I don't think I'll keep going - not unless one of them is a freebie.
Is it getting hot in here? If, not this book will surely do it. It's fast paced, very sexy, kinky, and suspenseful. The author, once again (since I read her first book) adds a hot touch to a regular romance story, and adds suspenseful moments such as... well that would be a spoiler, wouldn't it? As this is the first book in a series, according to the author, I will look forward to seeing how hot the next character will be.
There is s lot of sizzle and sass between Jefferson and Raylyn. Neither are looking for love after their bad marriages but they can't stay away.
Sexy Jefferson is soon charmed by both Raylyn and baby Nova. Soon things start happening at Raylyn's house that arouse Jefferson's protective gene.....and suspicions.
Sex, danger, and romance. Overall a well written read except some areas left you dangling.....wondering how? why? what?
A mild erotica between divorced-mother-of-one Raylyn Masterson and 38-year old Jeff Daily, who is also divorced and living with his Alzheimer-struck mother. Someone is stalking Raylyn or so it seems. It’s a simple story with a twist in the last ten pages.
I received a free pdf of the book in exchange for a fair, unbiased and non-reciprocal review.
A great read, loved the interactions between Jefferson and Raylyn ,especially the first one.i like when a female character tells it how it is and even better while she's wearing heels. Had the right amount of kink and romance
