It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to my first compilation of short stories. I’ve enjoyed a busy three years since dusting off my writings of the last decade or so, and those who have followed me on Twitter and Facebook will have already devoured some of these words in their eBook guise. At no point in my short story journey did I feel any one of my titles warranted committing to paperback, but as a compilation, I’m now more than happy to do so.
First Encounters is exactly that; it’s the definitive compilation of my first six stories, inspired by chat room conversations and other interactions, many moons ago.
The journey begins with Night Vision, the short and sweet tale of my desire to find the next love of my life, following the loss of my wonderful wife in 1998.
This is followed by Beach Encounter, a re-enactment of a fleeting chat room liaison that served no other purpose than offer relief during a difficult time. Straight to the point in its delivery, the strings were most definitely disconnected!
Mid Air Collusion is inspired by eye contact that lasted a fraction of a second, while on a business trip at Amsterdam airport. Significantly longer in length than its predecessors, I enjoy exploring the personalities of my characters, introducing dialogue and humour as a means of building a story around the passion. There’s definitely potential to develop this scenario further; a full-length erotic thriller beckons!
While engaged in role play in a chat room known as The Hot Tub, I was challenged by someone, purporting to be female, to write a short story based on an initial paragraph she presented me. Rising to the bait, I duly responded with a 2000 word reply. She thanked me, and I never heard from her again; I assumed she was grossly disappointed with my effort. Many years later, and those words form the opening chapter of Ariana. Without doubt contentious in subject matter, I refused to tread the path my provocateur imagined I’d pursue, preferring instead to deliver a tale of longing, solace and love. Much to my relief, many who’ve read the story believe I handle this potentially controversial scenario with impeccable decorum. After reading, I hope you too will agree.
Following on, a former college acquaintance stumbled upon my work and goaded me into penning an encounter for her reading pleasure. Offering me the briefest of scenarios, she left me to get on with it. With my newfound desire to set a scene and create a slow-burning sense of anticipation, which in my opinion is the all-important ingredient in any piece of erotic work, the story soon took on a life of its own, surpassing anything in length I’d previously written. Many months in the making, my friend gave up waiting, but in my humble opinion, the delay was justified. The Hitcher represents my most descriptive offering to date, and is without doubt my personal favourite of the six. Will there be a sequel? You tell me!
All this time, A Greek Tragedy sat festering on my hard drive, but at no point during my fledgling career as a writer did I feel totally comfortable unleashing this sorry tale upon my readers; until now. After several chat room conversations with a bi-sexual New Zealander, who enjoyed taunting me with details of her antics, I derived these words in an attempt to convince her I could describe a sexual act I’d yet to experience. By all accounts I hit the nail on the head, although I didn’t realise it myself until some years later! I still harbour mild reservations sharing this story with you. Read it and you’ll understand why; equally, you might wonder what all the fuss is about! Either way, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
I’m very much enjoying my journey as a writer. The words flow more easily with each passing day, and will hopefully continue to do so for as long as I’m able to draw from my well of ideas.
All stories in this compilation have been re-edited since their original release as eBooks. In fact, I was horrified at my standard of writing back then; either I’ve evolved as a writer or my ability to proofread has greatly improved. I’ll let you be the judge!
A word of thanks to my partner and my children for their loyal support and belief in what I’m striving to achieve. Only time will tell if their faith in me was justified.

What happens when two strangers meet briefly and they are both as horny as each other? Well this book has six of the best short stories about stranger encounters that I've read for a while.
Told entirely from the male perspective, it actually felt like a breath of fresh air to what I usually read.
I couldn't pick a favourite, they were all equally wankable and, probably, flickabeanable to lol.
In a few words, the author has managed to set the scene, describe the characters and why they are in that situation as well as having a hot sexy scene unfold across the page. His no-nonsense prose is welcomed by me, especially when sometimes you don't want to read through reams and reams of unneeded descriptive gibberings, you just want something quick and hot to read!
I think I would actually be quite happy to have this sat on my paperback shelf, top shelf obviously ;-)

I have read all these stories before, apart from A Greek Tragedy. Having them all under one cover in paper is a nice feeling. Beach Encounter has always been my favourite and always will be, closely followed by Ariana, which I think is the hottest story by Mr. C. The young student and a man of authority is always a fantasy read and this one is a scorcher! The Hitcher is a beautiful story, very realistic with likable characters with real emotions. I loved the shyness of the male character, instead of an alpha male. Their flirting was arousing and a lot of fun! These stories are superb, fresh and fecking hot! If you haven't read anything from Charming Man..... grab this and enjoy!

My Review:
This collection of short stories is sexy and provocative, although definitely masculine. While erotic and well written, most of the short stories are of one-night stands and casual hook-ups, some couples never bothered to exchange names. Written by a man, from a man’s perspective, the fantasy situations are most likely more appealing to men, for example - golden showers, headmaster/student taboo, airplane mischief with a stranger, picking up a hitchhiker. Not something a woman would typically initiate. The writing was highly descriptive, spicy, and entertaining with clever word play. But I was not transported. I did not lose myself while reading, which was somewhat vexing. In pondering this, I decided the reason being that it was just sex. Maybe it is just me - and I certainly don’t mean this in a judgmental way - but I found the lack of an emotional connection between the characters to be somewhat disconcerting, with the exception of the last story – which was by far my favorite. I guess I am just too much of a romantic at heart.

At long last, I find myself holding a paperback copy of Charming Man’s debut compilation, First Encounters! For me this is such a joyous moment, if not a long time coming, but it was totally worth the wait, nevertheless! As much as I love my kindle, there’s no better feeling than having a physical copy of a great book in your hand, bending back the cover, inhaling its pages, while digesting the words within.
First encounter comprises his first four short stories, Night Vison, Beach Encounter, Mid Air Collusion and Ariana (recently withdrawn from amazon shelves for reasons unknown) and his novella, The Hitcher which have all been re-edited. There is also an additional story that, until now, has never been published. I’ve been a huge fan of this author from the get go and have devoured everything he has published to date. I must admit, I thoroughly enjoyed the original eBooks, which take pride of place in my kindle library, but comparing the old to the new re-worked stories, I feel he has greatly improved on what I already rated as perfection. His efforts were not in vain. This book is a seamless read, with each scenario flowing deliciously from beginning to end.
The additional story is no exception. Without giving away any spoilers, A Greek Tragedy could have been just that. However, Mr Charmer’s detailed interpretation of a possibly controversial sex act has been written in such a way that it translates as a highly arousing piece of literature I found to be both fascinating and sensual.

I have read Charming Man's work for some time and this anthology/collection was a long time coming. it was quite rude actually for him to keep us waiting for so long :) Every story is written from the male POV which gives it a very interesting feel from a female readers POV. There are parts of some stories/acts which are very explicit. I found myself drawn to the longer stories and my three favourites were Ariana, Mid Air Collision and The Hitcher. These stories were all very different from each other, but they drew me in and I was lost within the tales they told.
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a break from the Bad Boys, Millionaires & Tattoo Rock Stars (there is absolutely nothing wrong with those characters by a long shot) this book is filled with real men in scenarios anyone of us could walk into. Realism is the new fiction.

Charming Man has truly shown his talent with The Hitcher: the story is much more in depth, captivating and the quality of his writing is exceptionally outstanding. I was hooked from the start; with every page turn the story becomes more intriguing and you can feel yourself almost living the very moment with them. Without a doubt Charming Man left his best story until last in this collection of erotic stories and The Hitcher has potential for a second book; Steve and Faye's adventure is far from over.

Without giving away any spoilers, A Greek Tragedy could have been just that. However, Mr Charmer’s detailed interpretation of a possibly controversial sex act has been written in such a way that it translates as a highly arousing piece of literature I found to be both fascinating and sensual.
Charming Man has also taken the time to give his readers a little background information on how each story came about in his ‘Word of Warming’, which also makes for great reading.
If you like slowburning, sensual tales with steamy well written sex, then you’d be a fool to let this book pass you by.

This is a wonderful collection of short stories of strangers in the heat of the moment. There is a total of six stories in this collection.
Night Vision is about a man that awakes to a beautiful women by his bedside. I don't know if it was a dream or reality.
Beach Encounter is about a business man that is in need of rest and relaxation. He goes to sit on the beach and hears a woman's moans and has to go investigate what she is doing.
Mid Air Collision is about a lady and man that hit it off on a plane. They share some secrets that are very erotic.
Arianna is a young woman that is close to graduating and is summoned to the headmaster's office and he knows something that can get her expelled. Will she charm the headmaster into keeping her secret?

The Hitcher is about a young man that passes a woman alongside the road but than throws caution to the wind and goes back to pick her up. They get to know each other on the trip. When she finally gets to her destination he wonders if he can let her go.
I can't decide which is my favorite one. I enjoyed reading this collection of short stories and look forward to reading the next collection.

WOW!!! This book should come with a warning. It’s one hell of a steamy read.
An erotic collection of short stories by the one and only Charming Man. I can honestly say this is the first "smut book" written by a man that I have read, and I’m glad that Charming Man took my virginity ;-) It’s well written, funny where it should be, and extremely sexy in most parts.
Every single story in the book is HOT HOT HOT and it’s brilliant from a man's point of view. Every story had me hooked but you will find your favourite like I did.

This book is a perfect read for anyone looking for short stories to dip in and out of. First Encounters is a collection of short stories that will tease and tantalize you. Written from a male's point of view, Charming Man's words pour through the book as he describes sexual encounters by consenting strangers in different situations. All of these encounters/ stories are unique and individual, as are the characters and set in a very realistic backdrop.

Wow! Very hot, short story that would be great to turn into a full length book.
Mid Air Collusion (4 star)
A wonderful short story; smart and well written. Makes me want to take a flight with my husband somewhere.

Short, taboo read. Not a big fan of student-teacher encounters, but it was well written.

Six of the best!
A brilliant collection of six very sexy stories. I've read a few of Charming mans books ie Ariana, the hitch hiker. I love his style of writing and I also love that its from a male perspective. Reading them again actually just in case I missed anything. Thoroughly enjoyable romp!
