Henry would gladly choose love over stardom. Rina won’t let him.
Newly divorced from her skunk of a husband, country music idol Rina Bakersfield is en route from Las Vegas to Bend, Oregon, where her parents have been caring for her young daughter. When her car breaks down, a charming mechanic comes to the rescue.
Henry is handsome as sin and sings and plays guitar like an angel. In no time, Rina is convinced he could become a country music heartthrob. Despite the explosive chemistry that leaves them both reeling, she cannot picture a future together. She is eight years older and certain that if Henry fully understood what a mess she's made of her life, he would turn tail and run. With a heavy heart, she summons her manager, who spirits Henry away to Nashville.
Neither can forget those few heady days, but it is Henry who vows to keep the faith. He will bide his time till their paths cross again.
As someone who loves country romances, I absolutely flew through this book 😭🎸 The country music atmosphere was easily my favorite part. The performances, the celebrity side of the story, the tension between public personas and private feelings—it all made this such an entertaining read. Henry was also SUCH a likable MMC. Charming, patient, supportive, and honestly the kind of character I kept wanting more of throughout the story. I especially loved seeing glimpses of who he was outside of the “Hank” persona, and I wish we’d gotten even more of that side of him. The chemistry and dynamic between the main characters hooked me early on, and I really enjoyed how quickly the story pulled me into their world. That said, I realized while reading that second chance romance might just not fully be my trope personally, and I also struggled a bit with the third-person POV style. I tend to connect more emotionally with first-person romance, so that created a little distance for me while reading. I also found some of the repeated hesitation surrounding age and experience a bit frustrating at times because I was so invested in Henry and wanted the relationship progression to move differently. ✨ what to expect ✨ 🎶 Country music romance 🤠 Celebrity musician MMC 💔 Second chance romance 🔥 Fast chemistry 🌾 Southern atmosphere 🎤 Music industry drama Even with a few things that didn’t fully work for me personally, this was still such a fun and addictive country romance, and I know country romance readers are going to eat this one up 🤍
⭐️⭐️⭐️ | ARC Review Miz Country Goddess (Beyond the Olympic Peninsula #2) by Cat Treadgold 📅 Release Date: 1 August 2026 This was an enjoyable, cozy read with a lovely second-chance romance at its heart 💛 Miz Country Goddess really shines in its small-town atmosphere and country music backdrop—it has that comforting, easy-to-settle-into vibe that makes it perfect for a relaxed read. The history between the characters adds a nice emotional layer, and their journey back to each other has some genuinely sweet and heartfelt moments. While it didn’t completely sweep me away, I still appreciated the warmth of the story and the blend of cozy and spice throughout. It’s the kind of book you can unwind with and just enjoy the ride 🎶✨ A solid, feel-good romance that will especially appeal to fans of second-chance love and small-town settings 💕
I have read all of Cat Treadgold's books, and this is my favorite. Fun, kind characters maturing as the book goes on. Characters are trying to do the right thing. Cat's sense of humor is witty and delightful. I found myself chuckling throughout the book as I have with her other books. The country music setting was fun because I like the genre but don't know much about the industry. I also enjoyed the secondary characters and the way Cat built on prior books without rehashing everything. Cat is a beautiful and literary writer, and the quality of the writing adds to the enjoyment of the book. Cat has done something surprising and unusual by adding song lyrics from the points of the view of the characters and her skill adds to the fun.
Thank you to netgalley, Victory Editing Netgalley Co-op, and Cat Treadgold for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. ⭐⭐⭐ I adored the whole country music side of the story, but i found Rina constantly denying Henry due to age and inexperience annoying. Henry was just such a likable mmc and i wish we saw more of him as just henry instead of hank. On that same not I also wish we saw more of Serena instead of Rina. I just don't think that the second chance trope is for me personally.
Miz Country Goddess by Cat Treadgold is a heartfelt second chance romance set against the backdrop of country music fame. With strong chemistry between the leads, emotional tension, and a story shaped by personal healing and difficult choices, the novel offers a warm yet dramatic reading experience. A solid pick for readers who enjoy character driven romance with emotional depth.
