Wall Street Journal & USA Today bestselling author Emma Slate writes romance with heart and heat.
Called “the dialogue queen” by her college playwriting professor, Emma writes love stories that range from romance-for-your-pants to action-flicks-for-chicks.
When she isn’t writing, she’s usually curled up under a heating blanket with a steamy romance novel and her two beagles—unless her outdoorsy husband can convince her to go on a hike.
The tarnished angels are just getting better and better. This book is all go from the very beginning and I was hooked. Linden and Boxer are the most perfect couple even if on paper they are the epitome of opposites. This book explores some very dark themes but it was written amazingly and I loved every second. The narrators were absolutely amazing and brought Linden and Boxer to life in the most perfect way. I am so excited for the next book in the tarnished angels series.
This audiobook didn’t just rev its engine… it roared straight through my chest and parked itself in my obsession lane.
From the very first ER scene, the story hooks you like a heartbeat monitor spiking out of control. Boxer crashes into Linden’s world all grit and chaos, turning her quiet, controlled life into something volatile and impossible to ignore.
Linden is everything I love in an FMC… composed, guarded, and holding herself together with sheer will. She’s built walls for a reason, and watching Boxer slowly dismantle them? Addictive. He doesn’t just look at her… he sees her, calls her out, and refuses to let her hide behind that aloof exterior.
And Boxer? A walking contradiction in the best way. Playful and reckless on the surface, but underneath there’s loyalty, protectiveness, and a man who will burn everything down for the people he loves. The fact that he falls first and hard just makes it hit even better.
Now the narration… chef’s kiss. The duet style brings this story to life in a way that feels intimate and immersive. You’re not just listening, you’re inside every moment. Boxer’s voice carries that rough, dangerous charm, while Linden’s delivers that emotional restraint and vulnerability so perfectly. Together, they create tension you can practically feel humming in your ears.
As Boxer’s dangerous world bleeds into Linden’s, the stakes skyrocket. The tension, the found family, the emotional punches… it all lands. Hard.
By the end, I was completely hooked… heart, mind, and soul claimed by a Tarnished Angel.
If you love biker romance with a guarded heroine, a “he falls first” alpha, and narration that pulls you under… this one is absolutely worth the ride. 🖤🔥
I really enjoyed this book. It had all the tropes I love: Bad Boy Biker MMC Meets Good Girl... Opposites Attract He falls first, and hard... And the plot was plotting... Spice was on point and did not overpower the plot or the story. The narrators!!!! OMG... They picked the perfect couple. It's as if they were meant for these characters. I have added Brielle Rose and Gregory Salinas to my favorites in my list of my favorite male and female narrators!!! Chef's Kiss!!! This story left me wanting more, left me wanting to see a continuation, to see how things go for them... and I can't wait to immersive read the next one!!!.
I wrote a partial review yesterday, but holy heck did the story change at around 70% into the audiobook.
Duet narration by Gregory Salinas and Brielle Rose was outstanding. I absolutely adore Gregory and his narration style. I'm not sure if I have ever listened to Brielle, but she was also excellent. I will be following her on social media to find more books that she narrates.
This book will grab you and take you on a wild ride. Linden is strong and fearless but has walls built from past experiences. Boxer barges in like a wrecking ball and dismantles her walls brick by brick.
As their worlds bleed together, something happens that will knock you down flat. The strength that Linden shows through this experience is awe inspiring. Crash & Carnage is the best way to describe it. Get ready to feel all the feelings.
Gregory did absolutely amazing as Boxer, and I LOVEDDD Brielle as Linden! This audio was amazing and such a great MC Romance. With the perfect amount of plot with some spice thrown in!
I was already engrossed into the story, and then was thrown for a loop! I love stories that keep you on edge! I’ve been into MC romances lately and this definitely fed my need for more!
This dark romance was a wild ride, to say the least. Morally gray MMC. Hot bikers. Human trafficking. Torture. Touch her and die. It took me a little while to get into it, but man, it was worth it! I’m definitely excited to listen to book 2.
I just finished the audio for Crash & Carnage by Emma Slate, narrated by Gregory Salinas and Brielle Rose, and I’m honestly so thrilled this series is finally coming to audio. This was one of the first books I picked up when I started reading again back in 2021, and it’s the one that kicked off my motorcycle club romance era. I’ve read the entire series, and this book is still my favorite.
Linden owns my whole heart, one of my very first and forever favorite FMCs. She’s a surgeon completely unaware that she’s just saved a member of the Tarnished Angels MC… Boxer. She’s easily one of the strongest, most compelling FMC’s I’ve ever read. This was also one of the first books where I experienced the “MMC falls first” dynamic, and Boxer delivers that energy flawlessly. Linden has been through so much and guards herself fiercely, but Boxer is unapologetically himself in a way that makes their connection impossible to resist.
While this isn’t the spiciest book, I’ve ever read, back then it definitely felt spicy and honestly, the emotional intensity more than makes up for it. What truly elevated this re-read/listen was the narration. Gregory Salinas and Brielle Rose brought these characters to life exactly the way I imagined them. Not just Linden and Boxer, but the entire supporting cast and this series has a big one. They captured the grit, loyalty, chaos, and heart of the Tarnished Angels perfectly.
I’m so excited this series is rolling out on audio, and I cannot wait for the next book to drop. Hearing these characters again feels like coming home.
Crash & Carnage by Emma Slate, the second book in the Tarnished Angels series, had me out here gripping the edge of my sanity like a feral little gremlin. This book was toxic in the hottest way possible. Tattoos, trauma, possessive biker men, emotional damage… exactly the kind of chaos I signed up for.
Boxer??? Immediately no thoughts head empty. That man was so protective, obsessive, and “who hurt her” coded that I was ready to risk it all by chapter two. And Linden felt SO real. She was struggling, spiraling, trying to survive, and I loved that she wasn’t written as this untouchable perfect FMC.
The romance was messy, intense, obsessive, and honestly felt like watching a train wreck while giggling and kicking my feet. Every time I thought “okay maybe we can breathe now,” Emma Slate came back with emotional violence.
One of my favorite parts was getting to see some of my favorite characters from book one again. I love when a series keeps that found family feeling alive instead of making previous characters disappear into the void.
And the audiobook?? Gregory Salinas and Brielle Rose absolutely understood the assignment. Gregory’s voice for Boxer was all growly protective biker energy while Brielle delivered every ounce of Linden’s fear, strength, and emotional breakdowns perfectly. They made the chaos feel even more addictive.
obsessive biker men ✅ emotional carnage ✅ trauma and tension ✅ touch her and die energy ✅
I received an ALC of Crash & Carnage from Dark Star, and this book was CHAOS in the best way possible. This is Book 2 in the Tarnished Angels Motorcycle Club series, but it can absolutely be read as a standalone. If you love possessive bikers, instant obsession, emotional damage, and “this is probably a terrible idea but I support it anyway” energy… this one delivers. After a biker lands in the ER injured, Boxer takes one look at Dr. Linden and basically decides she’s his entire personality now. The chemistry between them was immediate, messy, obsessive, and honestly kind of addictive. The story moves FAST from doctor/patient tension into romance, but it worked for the chaotic energy of the book. There was a really good mix of humor, darker moments, emotional tension, and banter that kept the story entertaining the entire time. Boxer had that gritty, possessive biker energy without losing the emotional side underneath it, and Linden balanced him well. The audiobook was narrated by Gregory Salinas and Brielle Rose, both of whom were first listens for me. Gregory Salinas did a great job bringing that rough, gritty, masculine emotion to Boxer’s character and really fit the tone of the story. Brielle Rose also did well overall, though there were moments where her performance felt a little overly breathy for my personal preference. Overall, this was a fun, spicy motorcycle romance packed with obsession, chaos, banter, and enough darker elements to keep things interesting.
Great book. Sad that it's single POV but it was still a great book and I loved getting to know more about Boxer. I love his personality and how he looks after people. He is very quiet about it and doesn't do it for recognition which a truly appreciate.
Linden, a brilliant doctor who is new to town. Sweet, caring and just wants to find her place in the world. She meets Boxer when he ends up in the hospital and you can see the chemistry between them.
When things go south for her, she doesn’t give up, she doesn't stop fighting. Even after her career is shattered, she still has backbone and tells Boxer what she wants, what she needs, and he will do anything to give it to her.
It's an emotional rollercoaster for sure, but that also made it a really good book.
Great job by the narrators. Gregory Salinas and Brielle Rose captured their personalities and their spirit so well in their performance!
I had such a good time listening to this audiobook. The Tarnished Angels series just keeps getting better for me, and Linden and Boxer completely stole the show. I love an opposites attract romance, especially when the guy falls first, and Boxer was so down bad from the start and completely obsessed with her. Linden is so guarded and strong, and watching Boxer slowly break through her walls had me actually excited to commute to work each day. The story dives into some darker themes, but it never felt overdone and the emotional tension hit just as hard as the romance. Gregory Salinas and Brielle Rose were perfect and absolutely nailed the narration too. They brought so much personality and chemistry to these characters that it honestly felt impossible to stop listening once I started. I’m already counting down until the next audiobook in this series.
I just finished Crash and Carnage by Emma Slate and it was a ride. This is Book 2 in the Tarnished Angels Motorcycle Series and it is the best way to continue this series!! It is really enjoyable because a lot of the characters from the first book is in this one, but it has a fresh new spin by introducing the new character of Linden. I love seeing just a strong FMC who has their beliefs and values but can recognize their short comings also. Brielle Rose and Gregory Salinas do an amazing job of bringing the characters to life!! You definitely experience all the ups and downs in this book!
So if you like these tropes: Bad Boy x Good Girl, Biker/MC, Opposites Attract, Found Family you definitely need to listen to this book. You will not regret it
This book crashed into my soul & left me wanting more!
📕 Story: 4/5 ⭐️ 🎤 Narration: 4/5 🌶️ spice: 3/5 Tropes: He falls first, Motorcycle club, found family, bad boy x good girl
The story follows ER surgeon, Linden, and Tarnished Angel’s MC member, Boxer. After meeting in her ER, Boxer makes his attempts at charming his beautiful & brilliant surgeon. Their love didn’t come easy, and it also came with a price.
This story grabbed ahold of me making me miss it during the times I had to turn it off. It was the perfect second story to this series, and I am excited to see where the others go.
