Maisy Magill

Maisy Magill writes cozy fantasy romances where magic meets small-town charm—think Stars Hollow with a sprinkle of fairy dust and a pinch of spice to make things interesting. Her stories are the bookish equivalent of a warm hug, a crackling fire, and a perfectly baked scone (preferably with a touch of enchantment).

When she’s not weaving tales of love, magic, and mischievous caticorns, Maisy fully embraces the cottagecore lifestyle. She can usually be found coaxing her garden into behaving, embroidering slightly wonky flowers, making chocolate or gelato (because why choose?), or sipping tea while pretending she’ll only read one more chapter. Her books invite readers to slow down, savor the magic, and believe in love, one whimsical, heartwarming story at a time.

Must Love Lavender and Little Lies was incredibly cozy and an absolutely perfect Spring read!

Ever since I saw Juniper and Granik in the earlier books in this series, they had my total heart. I am a sucker for best friends to lovers, and I absolutely love big green guys 😉, so I knew there was a good chance they were going to be my favorite couple to date; of course, they succeeded! This is Maisy’s best book to date!

Juniper and Granik were absolutely perfect for each other. I loved their back and forth as friends, teasing each other in the most lighthearted ways. I also really enjoyed how much they just enjoyed being around each other. They were constantly helping each other with their businesses/homes, getting together for festivities in town, and just being there for one another on a daily basis. I loved watching them both learn what everyone else already knew: they were head over heels in love with each other for quite a while.

I continued to love the great group of women at the heart of this series. Though this group of friends could not be more different from one another, they have showed time and time again that they will go to any lengths they need to to support each other. I loved how the group was ready to help our couple play up the lie with the rest of the town, but they also were well aware of the subtle changes happening in the “fake relationship” to make it more real.

Gree-Gree was a freaking hoot and a half! I loved Granik’s grandmother; she was in charge but calm, nothing could get passed her, and she was always looking out for her loved ones, even if she was a bit of a jokester. Gree-Gree knows all 😉

I really liked Narrow, a half-giant who was friends with the two of them and often flirted with Juniper (much to Granik’s chagrin). He was fun and flirty, but I have a feeling there is much more under the surface with him. Perhaps he will be getting his own book soon? I also really need a book for Emmalyn. She played a larger part in this book, allowing us to peek into her past a bit. I have a feeling we have a second-chance romance on the horizon with this one.

Thank you to Maisy Magill for the eARC! The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.

Must Love Lavender and Little Lies - a cozy fantasy romance set in moonshine hollow

From the start, I could just feel the connection between FMC Juniper and MMC Granik. And then of course, Juniper basically "volunteers as tribute" to be Granik's betrothed when he is informed his family had set him up with a lady he has never met before. As they plan their fake marriage and impending fake break-up, they get some news that may affect these great laid plans.

I love Moonshine Hollow just in general, the characters, and especially all the magical creatures!! Juniper has her adorable moss-pup pip, who is even part of the wedding! Granik has a lavender farm, which also houses mini-mini highland cows! I want one! I always have dreamt of having mini animals, like a mini elephant (the size of a pug) so to read about these mini-mini's that blow magical bubbles, I could barely stand it! And the shrieking goats, they are hilarious! I feel like they would be really useful for a judge or lawyer to have on hand too!

I loved how literally the entire town sort of already knows that Granik and Juniper like each other, something neither seem able to admit! But after having to kiss, the chemistry is too much to ignore.

And then there is Gree-Gree, Granik's grandmother, she is the best!! I love what she does for them with the traditional toasting, and how she had quite the hand in moving their whole marriage along!

I still want a caticorn, and glad Merry made his appearance as well!

Thank you to the author for a copy of this book!

Some fav quotes:
""Well, you wee hump of leaves, how are you today?" Granik asked as Pip rose to meet him..."

"Pip was met by my herd of mini-mini highland cows. The dog-sized cattle, who were perfect for clearing weeds and grass from the fields while ignoring the lavender...every time they mooed, they exhaled grass-green bubbles..."

"The goat, while a menace himself, was suddenly facing down a mini bubble-burping stampede. Andulf jumped back in alarm. And then....A shriek of untold volume blasted from the goat's mouth."

"But that kiss...I felt it from the top of my head to the tips of my toes. My whole body tingled, and bright lights flashed behind my eyelids."

"She was chatting with Abraxis, the most curious of my snufflecorns, who was using his horn magic to help her place the linens on the line."

"I had always seen Juniper as a friend, but the idea that one day another man may have her, all of her, made me feel sick and heartbroken."

I was so fortunate to receive an advance copy and here are my thoughts:

I love the Moonshine Hollow series and this latest installment did not disappoint. Maisy has done it again bringing a sweet love story, the bonds of friendship with women who uplift and support each other, and the coziest vibes in the village of Moonshine Hollow.

This story of Granik and Juniper is the sweetest of friends to lovers with a whole lot of shenanigans thrown in. It’s charming, it’s sweet, and so heartfelt. I also loved that we got to see more of the dynamics of friendships between the women in this book. Their interactions with each other are always so fun in previous books, so I was so glad we got to see more of the sisterhood.

I love, love, love these books and Lavender & Little Lies is another great addition.

I love this series and they’re always the perfect amount of cozy and cute.

What I didn’t like as much, however, was that everyone was constantly laughing it was kind of unsettling. I’ve never done this before and I’m not the type of person to go so hard on reviews but I’m not kidding it was starting to annoy me. In the movie playing in my head it was like a horror movie everyone just constantly laughing

“with a laugh” was used 54 times
“laughed” was used 74 times
“chuckled” was used 32 times
“laughing” was used 13 times

The actual story was around 179 pages (on the kindle app on my phone) so that’s 173(!!!!) times that someone was laughing in some way. Unhinged.

Anyway, that being said, it was still a cute read and eventually I’m going to buy all the hard cover copies.

It is Spring in the cozy town of Moonshine Hollow and all are preparing for the Greening festival. Juniper runs an apothecary called Thistle & Thyme and Granik owns a large farm where he raises cute animals and grows lots of lavender! Dream jobs/life. They are the best of friends... but when Granik receives word that his family insists on him following the orcish custom of marrying year and they have a bride lined up… their friendship begins to shift rapidly! There is a little bit of waffling and confusion about true feelings but ultimately… friends to lovers 😊 Their love for each other is so easy, tender, and genuine. The support they have from their friends, family, and community is heartwarming! Granik’s Grandmother Gree-Gree was probably my favorite character-the cheeky and wise matriarch who helped pull it all together!
There are many adorable, unique animals in the story including shrieking goats, heart hares, mini-mini highland cows, and Juniper’s loving mosspup Pip.
Everything is magical in this story, including the books! They wiggle and giggle on the shelf when they think they are the right book for you. How cute is that? Possibly my favorite parts of the book are when delicious food is described (some recipes are included at the end)! One of the most exciting, exclusively offered in Moonshine Hollow: the spell enchanted cherry blossom chocolates that temporarily tint your hair pink and flowers circle around you during the moments you savor a bite. I am particularly looking forward to baking the Book Club Earl Grey, Lemon and Raspberry cake!
It is always a pleasure dropping back into the world of Moonshine Hollow and seeing everyone again! Near the end we get a glimpse of perhaps the next love match and I’m hoping that means we have more coziness coming soon😊

Must Love Lavender and Little Lies is the latest, adorable installment of the Moonshine Hollow series. And we have friendship, an accidental fake engagement and the sudden (and terrifying) realization of deep, hidden feelings.

Juniper and Granik are so adorably clueless. They've been fast friends for ages and both think it's nothing more for the longest time. But when Granik's family try to arrange a marriage for him according to Orcish tradition, Juniper claims to be his fiancee so he doesn't have to marry a stranger.

As someone who has spent the last 20 years married to her best friend, I have a huge soft spot for a well done friends-to-lovers romance. And Maisy perfectly captured the "Oh, god, I'm in love with my best friend. Will this be the best thing ever or will it destroy the best thing in my life?" feelings that I remember oh, so well.

It was so much fun to visit Moonshine Hollow and all it's ecclectic residents again. But as far as side characters go, Gree Gree (Granik's grandmother) steals the show. She's wise, kind and a little bit sneaky and I want to be just like her when I grow up. 😆

Thank you Maisy Magill for the opportunity to advance read. 💜

I adore this series so much, and this book is no exception! I’ve been clawing the walls to read Granik and Juniper’s story. They’re incredibly cute and infinitely infuriating; I want to hug them and smack them up the side of the head at the same time, but that’s just one of the things that keeps you hooked 😍 And of course, there’s Andulf, the shrieking goat. I want to take him home with me; he’s so hilarious and gets into everything he shouldn’t. He’s like a very, VERY noisy toddler 😅

I laughed and awww’d through the first half of the book, then laugh-cried through most of the second half (the swearing on the sandwiches bit sent me 😅). It was such a rollercoaster of emotions, but in the best way. The end, oh the end! It completely ruined me for the rest of the day 🥹

If you’ve not read any of the Moonshine Hollow series, you seriously should; every single one is so perfectly cosy and wholesome, with a little pinch of spice: think The Shire x a medieval Animal Crossing.

I hope there are many more to come! 🖤

Magical. I had the honor of reading Must Love Lavender & Little Lies. This was another sweet, cozy, happy read! I love returning to Moonshine Hollow for the magic, the friendships, the whimsical animals/pets, and the recipes. Juniper and Granik’s story was absolutely adorable. I’m not usually drawn to the friends-to-lovers trope, but theirs was so well done, it just works in such a pure way. You can’t help but smile, giggle, and laugh along with them. Their friendship and chemistry felt so natural and fun, and I truly loved them together.

I do wish we got a touch more spice…maybe a few more stolen, heated moments would have been nice, but that might just be me falling for a big green orc and wanting more from this genuinely kind soul. I genuinely love this entire series. I’ve bought every book, and I’m completely obsessed. These stories just make me happy.

It’s the kind of book that I can pick up and open up to any part and just be transported to a world of glitter, bubbles, and sweet smelling pasties. Who knew a book could have you craving cake so badly either. I need to make that earl gray tea cake asap.

I really loved this adorable and cute story!!!! I've absolutely loved all the books in the Moonshine Hollow series, and you can read them as standalones. I really loved this couple, the friends to lovers is such a fun trope that isn't don't often enough!!!

Juniper is the FMC, you see her in some of the previous books, and she is best friends with Granik, the MMC, who also appears in the other standalones.

When Granik is faced with a horrible dilemma, Juniper jumps right in to help and then just silliness and adorableness ensues. I really just love their banter and their just love for one another, even at just the friends stage. I really loved getting both POVs cause Granik had some giggle and kick my feet moments.

And the way that the members of the town just make sure they are supporting, loving, and listening to these two is just heartwarming. The friendships in this book just make my heart happy.

This was definitely a beautiful and adorable love story and I just cannot wait to see if there are going to be more books in this world!

A warm, whimsical romance with just the right spice

Must Love Lavender and Little Lies is a cozy, spicy fantasy romance with strong farmcore vibes and a fun fake engagement setup that quickly turns complicated in a very entertaining way. Juniper and Granik have a really easy, lived-in friendship at the start, which makes the shift into pretending to be engaged feel both natural and a little chaotic once orcish customs make things official in ways they did not intend.

The small town setting with magical touches, the Greening festival, and all the quirky farm details like mischievous goats and mini Highland cows give the story a warm, cozy atmosphere. I also enjoyed how the fake relationship premise kept evolving as feelings started to blur the original plan, with plenty of sweet and awkward moments along the way.

Overall, it’s a charming installment in the series with a comforting tone, engaging characters, and a romance that feels both fun and heartfelt without losing its light, cozy fantasy feel.

Shoutout to Maisy for the advanced copy, this is my honest review.

Thank you to the author for the ARC opportunity!

I have read all of the books in this series and I love how consistent they are in terms of the town, and the townsfolk. The author clearly has a firm idea and might even live in this world on the side! After a chapter or two to reorient into the world and connect to the characters, I got right back into this cozy atmosphere. Now on average I don't read a ton of friends to lovers however when its done well it can be such a nice balm to characters who are mean to each other for half the book. Juniper and Granik are both really unique but share some important traits that help you feel their connection deeply. Add in a sneaky grandma, a town full of people who care, and some bad lies and you have yourself a story worth reading! Definitely pick this one up and if you haven't read this series yet add it to your list for when you need something genuinely soft and uplifting - I know we could all use that right now.

Oh Maisey, you have done it again! I was so looking forward to Juniper's story, and I loved how this went for her. The story follows on so well and continues to build on the lives of the existing characters, too.

If I could suggest anything about this book, it would be that I would have loved to have seen more of Juniper's back story - more of her history, she is such an interesting person already, so I would have loved more of her on her own, in addition to the love story. Maybe this is just me asking for more pages in the book since I was sad to read the end, I wanted some more pages!

BUT my fav from this series is still Tansy and Kellan story (Must love Moss and Moonshine).. swoon!

Can't wait to see whose story is next..

P.S Not an ARC, just a lover of this series and on Maisey's newsletter so I was waiting for it to come out.

This was just the sweetest little read. A good ole fashioned friends to lovers.

Juniper and Granik have been best friends for a while and everyone can see how perfect they are for each other, except them. That is, until Granik’s family expects him to marry as is orcish tradition. So queue one fake engagement and suddenly these two realize how real it actually is for them.

First off, Granik’s family is hilarious. Gree-Gree is top tier nosey and wonderful.
Second, Juniper has the grandest group of friends. Like the way they rallied around her the entire time was endearing.
Third, the farmhouse wedding Primrose threw together was spectacular.

I feel like I say this with each of Maisy’s Moonshine Hollow books, but good golly do I wish I could live here. It’s so whimsical and joyful and full of good food!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was the coziest romantasy I have read in a while. Juniper and Granik have such a soft and genuine best friends to lovers connection, and the fake engagement that is not actually fake made everything even better.

I loved the small town vibes, the magical spring festival, and all the little details like the lavender farm and chaotic goats. It felt warm, whimsical, and so easy to sink into.

The romance builds in such a natural way, and you cannot help but root for them the entire time. Sweet, a little spicy, and full of heart.

Perfect for anyone who loves cozy fantasy romance with lovable characters and feel good vibes.

Must Love Lavender & Little Lies was probably a top book for me so far this year! I have loved this whole series, but the best friends to lovers part always holds a special place in my heart since that's part of my husband and my story.

Juniper and Granik are besties who accidentally get engaged. Since he is an Orc he has to marry by his 30th year and Juniper was just trying to help. It's fun to see how this story unfolds! Please go read it!

How far would you go to keep your best friend from an arranged marriage? Juniper decides that she's willing to tell everyone, including Granik's family, that they are engaged so that they don't arrange a marriage for Granik. Should be easy enough, right? What they don't count on is Orc customs and their own feelings.

This is one of the sweetest books ever. Moonshine Hollow is what happens when you mix fantasy with the Hallmark Channel. The supporting cast is superb (including the screaming goats and their ability to make anyone tell the truth). I was smiling throughout the book.

Although this is book 3 in Moonshine Hollow, it can be read on its own.

And just like that we are back in Moonshine Hollow and I am once again wondering why I can’t live in such a magical place. This time it is to go along with our dear BFFs Juniper and Granik as their friendship turns to a situationship involving the whole town right before our eyes. And I would be remiss not to mention the mischievous shrieking goats. These books never cease to cheer me up. They are like a cozy sweater I would wear day after day. I love them so.

✨ Must Love Lavender and Little Lies ✨

This book is pure cozy chaos in the best way. Whimsical, charming, and packed with small town magic, it completely won me over from page one. The vibes feel like comfort reading mixed with lovable mischief, and I never wanted to leave this town.

Cute characters, cozy atmosphere, and just enough secrets to keep things fun and addictive. I’m officially obsessed and already planning my return visit.

If you love heartwarming stories, quirky towns, and feel good reads that leave you smiling, add this series to your TBR immediately. 💜🌿

Everything about it is soft, cozy, and a little chaotic in the best way. The kind of story where you can just settle in and enjoy the vibe without overthinking anything.

Their relationship was so easy to root for. It starts off comfortable and familiar, but you can feel it slowly shifting into something more, and that transition felt really natural.

I also loved how warm the whole world feels. The friendships, the little moments, the overall atmosphere… it all just comes together in a way that makes you not want to leave.

This was one of those reads that just put me in a good mood.

This was such a sweet book and I loved how oblivious both Juniper and Granik were of how they felt for each other. I'm also really happy that his family got involved and that his niece suggested when they get married. Everything was just so perfect and I'm so very happy to read about Juniper and Granik getting their happily ever after. I highly recommend this book if you're looking for a sweet cozy fantasy book.

This is such a charming cozy cottagecore story! I love visiting Moonshine Hollow. The chemistry between Juniper and Granick was evident from the first page. How they have been just friends for years is beyond me. If you enjoy cozy fantasy with a bit of spice then I know you'll love this book!

Each story focuses on one couple, set in a magical little village. The side characters are so fun. I recommend reading them all but they do work as stand alone.

Another fantastic addition to the Moonshine Hollow series!

Friends to lovers isn't one of my favorite tropes because it's so hard to get the feeling of the long term friendship into the beginning of the book. Magill didn't have that problem at all. Even if you haven't read the previous books in the series, you can tell that the MCs have been best friends and secretly in love with each other for forever. They fit so wonderfully in each other's lives.

Another great read from Maisy! She has not wrote a book from this series i have not liked! Very voxy reads all with HEA. A little spice but nothing super descriptive, would be great for young adults under supervision

These novels are great palette clensers between my heavier reads. And i love coming back home to moonshine hollow woth all the beautiful people and magical beings, magic, and their magical pets!

Adorable, but so very frustrating. The two main characters really don’t ever talk about their feelings, even when they are supposedly best friends. I just get frustrated with “I don’t know how he/she feels so I won’t say anything, ever” concept. Unfortunately it still works, and in this book it is an adorably frustrating situation. I look forward to future books. This town/world has so many possibilities.

What a treat!!!

This was the sweetest love story I swear!! Two best friends who are just friends right??? Right 👀

Juniper and Granik stole my heart, I was kicking my feet like a school girl. The spring vibes are perfect, the farm animals are adorable. And I love a book where everyone knows what’s going on except the two in love lol.
