I have never seen myself as a typical, shallow-minded teenager. I don’t like most of the people I meet, yet, without any reason, people seem to like me a little too much. I’d rather read stories of the Irish fearies, like my father, than go to a party – I'm described as powerful, like my mother, which intimidates many. I'm nineteen years old, and, eccentricities aside, I live a fairly normal life alongside my best friend, Layla.
Until one day, my entire world comes crashing down around me. I meet a mysterious man who seems surprised I can see him. A terrible fire breaks out at my family's home while I am away. My parents have been kidnapped, and I am apparently the only one who can save them.
Suddenly, I find that my family and my best friend have been harboring secrets from me my entire life, and that I am not the person I thought I was.
